A couple of years prior, he had taken down a small branch in my yard. He came out the very next day after I called him and solved the problem so we were able to go on our trip. He made it possible for us to get rid of this tree in a very prompt way, which impressed us. He came out and looked at it and the very next day it was gone. I was impressed with that responsiveness. The work was done well and very promptly. The price was fair; it wasn't very, very low or very high. It was a good price. The quality of the work was good.
Description of Work: We used Bonilla Tree Service because we were getting ready to go on a trip and we saw a branch that looked like it might be dangerous.

Have used this company multiple times. They've offered very competitive pricing each time and have fulfilled each work order in total. Most recently they took down two large trees that were both within 15-20 feet of the house. They arrived promptly, worked their tails off, completed the job in the agreed upon two days. They cleaned up well and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again, and probably will.

Workers arrived when they were supposed to and did the work they were supposed to.

They came out to do an estimate on trimming 2 large white oaks. He was very professional & polite and gave us a written estimate. At the time it was the lowest estimate and we scheduled the work in 3 weeks. We had a lower estimate come in from another company and did not go with Bonilla. One week later they came out to do work without calling. Since it was 2-weeks early than originally scheduled and I had a lower estimate my wife turned them away. The guy from Bonilla got annoyed and we exchanged words over the phone. I told him that next time he should call before coming to do work and I also apologized for not contacting him sooner.

Mr. Bonilla came out to do estimate on work to be done, made excellent recommendations on how to save some trees and pointed out trees that were dangerous to leave standing. This was a huge job, as the property had been neglected for years and there were a some very large, rotting trees that threated the house, as well as many dead or dying pine trees that were smaller in size. Given the size of the job and the lack of extras like removal and stump grinding, Mr. Bonilla gave us a good price and we elected to take down another large tree at a reasonable additional cost while the crew was there. The four crew that arrived were exceptionally hard working - arrived at 7:30 in the morning, took 30 minutes for lunch and left at 5:30 pm. Not a slacker in the bunch! Very polite and extremely honest - pointed out a cracked flag stone paver that we never would have noticed otherwise, apologized and offered to compensate us for the cost. Even though the work was done in a rural setting, cleaned up debris from work as if we were the tidiest suburban lot. Cannot speak highly enough of the quality and integrity of this company!
Description of Work: Cut down 43 trees on a 5 acre property, cut wood into firewood length and chipped smaller trees and branches. No stump grinding or removal of wood - chips and wood neatly piled on our property.

Mr. Bonilla, his partner Jose, and crew were fantastic. From the estimate to the clean up, they were courteous, polite, efficient, knowledgeable....and amazing to watch. I can't say enough. We discussed each tree (I recommend being present and working with arborists regardless of who you hire) and while they would give their advice, they were happy to do whatever we felt we wanted. They were on time, thorough (2 men for 2 hours in our largest oak), worked their estimated amount of time, cleared away the debris, and took extra limbs that had accumulated over the winter. I think the fee was very reasonable for the amount of work (and degree of difficulty) performed. They are pros. After 2 years of searching for good "tree guys", they were a pleasure to hire. I would recommend them as well as hire them again.
Description of Work: Trim, elevate, prune, reduce and remove limbs from a number of trees of varying sizes including enormous pine and pin oaks that had sustained significant damage from ice storms and wind. These trees were in sad need of attention.

I thought he was coming to give me an estimate, but he was prepared to take care of my problem the and there on a Sunday morning. I called many tree service companies, one came and estimated the job to $700, and another gave me an estimate over the phone without looking at the job. That estimate was between $250 and $400 depending upon the time to compete the job. Mr. Bonilla finished the job in less than an hour, and took off a few extra small branches for free that were not part of the original job.
Description of Work: Mr. Bonilla trimmed two large branches from a flowering magnolia tree that was damaged in a snow storm. The branches were partially attached to the tree, but resting on my electrical wires. He climbed up into the tree sawed off the branches, smoothed out the broken stubs, and put the cut branches through his chipper. He worked very carefully around the wires.

This is excellent in all categories except one...honesty. The work was excellent, the price good. However, they were to grind the stumps of the four evergreen bushes as requested. However, they sawed them down, did not grind them, and then covered the stumps with mulch so it looked like they had done the work. We discovered the deception days later. They returned promptly and dug out the stumps. I would have appreciated knowing that they either could or would not remove the stumps after ageeing to do it.

We had a large red oak, about 1 foot from the back deck and 3 to 4 feet from the house, that simply died this summer. Leaves went from green to brown in about a month. I got 4 estimates and this was the cheapest one by about $1000. Work was scheduled within one week, and the crew showed up promptly at 8:00 am. They did a flawless job, even managing to not crush a few azalea bushes that were immediately surrounding the tree. This was a tricky removal because it was so close to the structure of the deck/house, and they did it perfectly. They cleaned up everything and neatly stacked half of the wood, to be split for firewood. I was very impressed and will definitely use this company in the future.

It was great from start to finish. Mr. Bonilla went by to take a look at our tree hours after we called him and provided us with an estimate. We agreed to it verbally and he came by a couple of days later to take care of it. The tree looks great despite the damage, and the clean-up was great. We would use him and his crew again in a second.

We are SO impressed with Mr. Bonilla and his crew. When I first called him, he requested that I email him with exactly what we wanted him to do, and he responded with an estimate the next day. His was the most reasonable estimate, he was highly rated on Angie's List and another consumer site, and he lives in our neighborhood, so we decided to contract with him to perform the work. We could not be more pleased that we did! Mr. Bonilla told us he would start the work the following Mon or Tues, and he showed up on Mon with a crew of 4 additional people. They worked incredibly hard in unbearable heat, and it proved to be a more difficult job than anticipated, but they worked around the problems, finished the job in a timely fashion, and left our front and back yards in much better condition than we'd expected. They raked up the leaves and sawdust and blew our driveway clear at the end of the day, even when they were coming back the next day. Mr. Bonilla and his crew were professional, easy to communicate with, and also very friendly and accommodating. They noticed when I was leaving my house in my car and immediately stepped into the street to intercept any oncoming traffic so that I could get out safely. They went above and beyond anything I would have expected. They also removed a few smaller saplings and removed that debris as well when I asked, at no additional charge. I certainly got more than my money's worth from Mr. Bonilla and his crew! I will definitely be using his services in the future and highly recommend him to anyone who wants outstanding service at a reasonable rate (and my neighbor, who watched him work, has already contracted for his services)! Thanks and kudos to Bonilla Tree Service!
Description of Work: Efren Bonilla and his crew took down an enormous elm tree in front of our house and a smaller (but still good-sized) elm tree in the back of the house. He also inspected a huge split-leaf maple tree in our back yard, took off the dead wood, removed some limbs to make the tree more balanced, and cabled it to give it more strength. In addition, he ground the stump of the largest elm. He cut up and delivered some of the wood to our neighbor who requested it, and the rest of the wood and debris he either ground up or hauled away.

Mr. Bonilla and his crew, two climbers and two groundsmen, showed up promptly (8:00 am). Cherry was removed and stump ground by 9:00. Remainder of trees were taken down without damage to surrounding plants and trees, nor to deck. Groundsmen kept the work area clean, frequently carrying the downed tree branches, and tree trunk remnants to a truck with a chipper parked on the street. Crew was very conscious of need to avoid damage to other trees and plants. The owner, Mr. Bonilla participated with his crew. Everything was completed, including extensive clean-up by 4:30 pm. I was delighted with the quality of the work, and the interest of the owner in doing a good job. I was completely satisfied, and would hire Mr. Bonilla again.
Description of Work: Remove 65' double-trunked tree growing through an opening in sundeck, remove additional 65' tree abutting the deck, remove cherry tree and grind stump, remove two additional trees, none of which were accessable by trucks or cranes. Also prune and shape Hemlock, prune and shape 3 Dogwoods, remove all brush and tree remains.

I got quotes from five tree companies. Bonilla was the one I ended up using. This company had the lowest price, but also addressed the problem with the most bare bones method (see more details below). I called Mr. Bonilla and described the problem. He asked me to text message or e-mail him my address and he would swing by (all trees in front yard; no appt. with me necessary). I hadn't heard from him in a week, so I called him again and he said he would get to it soon. A few days later he came by and rang my doorbell. I explained the problems and he quoted me a price of $200 and said he could do the work right then. I wasn't entirely comfortable making an on the spot decision, but I wanted to get it over with so gave him the go ahead. He lashed the fallen tree with a rope to my fence and clipped the top so that it wouldn't be so top heavy. He pruned some high branches of a neighboring tree so that it would be better balanced. We chatted afterward, he gave me a refrigerator magnet, and asked me to spread the word about his business. I was satisfied with the work that he did, but was a little piqued that it cost as much as it did, even though the work took probably 20 minutes. At any rate, his price was lower than any of the other quotes and the trees are on their way to recovery.

Upon moving into my new home, I quickly discovered that he previous owners (or owners) for the preceding 10 years or so had been dumping trash, dead wood and other items into the large area immediately beyond the line of shrubs on my 15,000 sqft property. Additionally, there had been no maintenance done on any of the trees. Several were covered with deadwood and one large oak was being strangled by vines. I contacted Efrain after seeing his ad in the neighborhood newsletter. He came the next day and we walked the property. He pointed out almost 2 dozen trees that either needed to be removed or needed to be pruned. The original quote was for pruning all the trees and removing all of the underbrush. The quote he gave me was, unfortunately, well beyond my budget. After a day or two, I called him back and asked him to come give me a new estimate for a much less ambitious project. He returned the next morning and provided me with an estimate for a smaller project that was precisely within my budget. I accepted his bid later that day (which was a Saturday), and he showed up Monday morning at 7:45, right when he said he would. Myself and two other people were working clearing out the underbrush while Efrain and his two guys were climbing 30-, 40-, 50- feet in the air and cutting off huge pieces of tulip poplar, oak, mulberry and cherry. He and his guys were totally professional, excellent at what they were doing. They worked for 6 1/2 hours (minus a half hour or so while we all ate Subway), mulched ALL of the wood (including wood I was dragging out from the 15-year underbrush), and left me a mountain of mulch in the driveway so I can landscape the newly tamed backyard. After dropping the mulch and finishing the remaining branches, they raked, swept and blew off the yard and driveway. The experience was outstanding, start to finish. What I appreciated the most was Efrain's willingness to work within my budget. I also really liked working with someone from the neighborhood.

Mr. Bonilla offered to do all of the work we needed while we were gone on vacation, so it didn't disrupt our backyard (we have a young child) and refused full payment until the work was complete. He went above what we agreed upon, and did more work than we'd asked, cutting some poison ivy on other trees, as well as some English ivy that was killing a tree of ours. He also trimmed a dogwood tree in a very aesthetic way (a technical job). All work was completed while we were away, and the grounds were cleaned up completely, so that it was impossible to tell any trees had been taken down.
Description of Work: Mr. Bonilla responded in the same business day to my initial calls--twice. We had a tree get splintered in two when another tree hit it during a storm. Bonilla came out the next day (himself) and provided a free estimate for the standing tree. He also agreed to trim a tree growing into phone/cable lines, and advised that we had some branches growing over the house that needed to be trimmed back. I also told him about a problem we were having with poison ivy on some large poplar trees.
