Brought a snowblower and generator with gummed carburetors and told them the problem. They charged $160 diagnostic fee to come back with the diagnosis of gummed carburetors, and repair quote of $550. I told them that was high. Plus they needed a couple of weeks for the repair. They wouldn't budge. Called Mower Medic who estimated about $250 for the 2 machines. I called them to tell them they're overcharging. They yelled at me and told me to come pick up the machines. Save yourself the trouble, these guys will rip you off.

Horrible and still don't have it back. I took a brand new power washer to them (never used). They stated it should be a quick fix but because of a backlog of paying customers I would need to wait. I was told that since they don't get paid for warranty work it would take 3-4 weeks. Well its now almost 9 weeks and I still don't have it back. First thing to know is that they have never called to explain any of the delays or findings. I have called 2 times a week since week 3 and here is a list of the excuses: We are waiting for the valves to cure, we needed to ask for another part, we need to replace the engine, the latest is that they are waiting for a new machine. I don't know how in the world they only have a couple of bad reviews here because if you look throughout the internet you will notice there are more bad reviews than good ones. Many of the stories are the same as mine or even worse. It states they have been working there since 1958 and believe me it looks like its 1958 when you go there. The best thing is when I called the mechanic didn't want to listen to me and put me on hold so he didn't have to chat with me without even listening. He stated I wasn't listening and cutting him off. Yes I was cutting him off because I was trying to just have him provide me with proof from the company that a request was actually submitted because all I continually heard were excuses. I asked the repair guy several times to send me an email showing that they actually asked for a replacement unit and I ended up calling back 3 times for the email and still no email. There MO is to let people hang until they get tired of waiting and then ask for their equipment back. I'm sure they never requested a replacement or they would have easily forwarded me their correspondence with the company. These people are soooooo rude and don't know how to manage a business. If you don't believe me just show up at their shop and see how they handle their inventory and customers. You may ask why in the world I would go there? Well its the only shop within 100 miles that does warranty work for the powerwasher. I simply thought they would check the system, call the company, get the replacement unit since it was brand new and I would be gone. It is all scattered all over the place inside and out. The place is a mess and the mechanic there is extremely rude and has no understanding how to work with customers that have been patient for 8-9 weeks and now are fed up of all the excuses. Don't expect to get your stuff back on time as they won't start working it until you call as it happened with me. Once they found out that it was already passed the 3rd week then they start looking at the machine. Sender beware. Expect delays for sure. No wonder the owner is never there. Who can manage such a mess. Don't say I didn't warn you. All you have to do is drive up and peek in the door. That should be a clue. I think I would have been better off driving 100 miles.

I took my Dyson vacuum in for repair and they took five weeks to get it done. They were rude ever time I called about it and refused to let me speak with the owner. While I was standing on line waiting to finally pick the vacuum up, the person behind me had the same experience with hers taking one month to repair. They used to be good but now they are the worst.

Great! Work was done quickly, the machine ran well and it was clean with a full tank of gas.

However, directly after we started using our lawn mower again, the engine would stop every 15 minutes of (light) use. We had paid ~$100 for the corroborator / tune-up and got nothing out of it. Now our lawn mower will not even start. VERY disappointed in the job and how much we had to pay for such zero net result.

The blade was dull and now it is sharp. The work was done quickly and at low cost. Thanks!

I asked my wife to go get our lamps fixed here because I heard about them on the washington post. Once lamp the dimmer box was in tatters and being held by an eraser. The other wouldnt hold the bulb in place. I was surprised to hear that this cost $90---but then was informed that they recommended rewiring both lamps. I dont know enough about this to comment. The lamps are back and they are like brand new! Positives Greatly Quality Timely (2 Day turnaround) Negatives Pricey (but you get what you pay for) They said they would call when it was ready, and never did. (this is a personal pet peeve)

Painless.... I could NEVER replace those lamps for the cost of the work. I also cannot lift each lamp with 1 arm because of a prosthetic rotator cuff. Dropped off the lamps mid-afternoon 8/6 and picked them up same time 8/7. They are beautifully polished and shiny; the wiring is new, as are the sockets, and bulbs. Thank you, guys.

They had to send the work out as they typically do mowers. They did a good job, and there was a week turnaround. I won't return because it's too far. The price was very good and they were very professional.

I was having a problem with my vacuum cleaner's belt slipping off of the brush head after only a few minutes of vacuuming. The belt was brand new and fit snugly so I could not figure out why I was continuing to have this issue. Having to stop every five minutes to open the cleaning head and reset the belt and brush was very frustrating. I researched the problem and found almost nothing. I then called the manufacturer who recommended a vacuum repair specialist. After checking reviews and learning that the factory recommended repair shop received terrible reviews, I checked Angie's List. I saw that Appliance Fix-It had excellent reviews so I called and asked if they would honor the warranty which was still in effect. They said they would but they told me that warranty work typically takes several weeks. I did have to pay the diagnostic fee. I didn't mind so long as they could identify the problem. They checked the vacuum over and did not find anything wrong in their checks or when they tested it. They called me about 36 hours later and told me what they found. I asked them to test it again for a longer period of time and they still found nothing and had no problem with the belt slipping. However, they did replace the belt and replaced the vacuum bag at no extra charge to me. I thought the staff was courteous, professional, and knowledgeable. They offered me some vacuuming tips that the said may be causing the slippage. I brought the vacuum home and have had no problems since. I would definitely use them again.

I have used Appliance Fix-It for about 6 years now. They are reasonably priced, honest, do a good job fixing whatever needs fixing, and most importantly get the job done quickly. When I bring my mower in, they usually get it done a day or two earlier than promised, even in the busy spring season when everyone is starting their mower for the first time in several months. They also do other things like vacuums, but I've never used them for that.

I have not been there in over a year so I don't recall any costs. I am going back soon for another repair. | |

They got the job done quickly and to my satisfaction. The lawn mower works well after not being in use for several years.

He told me I should get a new filter and he'd be able to check it. He said he would come back out to check it after I put in the new filter. I never heard anything from him, but the filter was not the problem. I figured someone else might do a better job. He may have forgot, but he never followed up with me.

While I feel the cost was a bit high, the work done was es.xcellent. The mower ran fine and they were very helpful taking the mower out of my car and putting it in when I picked it up. Always courteou

Good work; good service. Just a tad pricey, IMHO.

Courteous, professional, and timely work done on a vacuum cleaner that had been giving us problems. It was hard to find a place that fixes Dysons, too. They did a good job, the work was timely completely, and the vacuum works great now.

Great experience -- I brought in my vac on a Saturday afternoon -- they had an estimate to me later that afternoon and had the unit repaired and ready on Monday.

Good. Mower working well. Cost of the repair was a little higher than I was expecting based on other reviews on Angies List.

Excellent service. The mower starts like a dream. I have been dealing with them for over 15 years and they never let me down.

I chose them because of the Angies List ratings and because they would pick up and deliver the mower. They were fast and it test started right off. Price for pickup and delivery $80 RT is steep but price for the service work was good. Pickup was prompt when they said and so was delivery of repaired mower. I think being early in the season helped with turnaround time. They want credit card before returning mower, not check.

They did a terrific job,fixing it right the first time, and had our vacuum cleaner back to us in just a few days.

Took vacuum in at 3:30 PM. Picked up next morning. Staff was very responsive.

Spring 20012 took to them because it wouldn't start. They replaced carburetor. Worked fine for the rest of the season. During warm Dec. 2012 and January 2013 lawn grew enough to need cutting. Again it wouldn't start. Took it back to Appliance Fix-It. Picked it up a day or two later. Tried it at store and it again was fine. They said they have seen many mowers in recent years where gas if left in tank of mower unstarted for a month or two is ruining carburetors. They suggested running the mower about 5 minutes each month... and putting an additive they sell in the tank as well. I'm overdue to running it as recommended. BTW: Even though this second repair was months past their warranty, they only charged me the normal fee for estimate.

Great customer service from the time I walked in the door. Mower was fixed and ready to go with a full tank of gas when I came back the next day after work.
