Loved the windows!! One of our seats near a kitchen window was all but unusable due to heat in the summer and drafts in the winter. Now we can use all of our kitchen seats and the house is more comfortable.

Attended a home improvement show in Dulles. Met booking agents and agreed to get a free home estimate. The visit was 3rd on my list and after booking another service, I was sold on the quality that Ameritech could offer and canceled my order with the other company.

We went through Costco. The initial sales meeting left us confident that Ameritech had a quality, durable, energy-saving window. They were slow to set up the installation appointment and late to arrive for installation. However, the newly installed windows are a vast improvement over what we had, and I look forward to seeing our power bill savings. Unfortunately we discovered a few minor problems after signing off on the work (mainly slight cracks in the seal). They came back and fixed these issues soon after.

We got in contact with this company because they were one of the companies that hounded me when I accidentally filled out something online with my phone number! So they call, and I agree to an estimate. They are very insistant that both home-owners are home for the estimate, and I know they checked the land records online because they refered to my boyfirend by his first name, and that's not the name I gave them for him because he goes by his middle name. the mean time, we have a major plumbing disaster at house, and I called to cancel and let them know why, told them I needed a few weeks. The called over and over to reschedule, and I finally agreed but told them we needed a very expensive repair and we weren't exactly ready. So the guy comes and does his presentation and what he did was like a reverse bait and switch. He told us about his window and how wonderful it was and how nothing could be better and how every other winder was not good enough. He wanted over $15k (I don't know the exact amount because he wouldn't leave us an estimate) for only half our windows!!! We told him that was out of the question, and he came back at us with a lower cost window that was also great! Really? I thought the first one was the "only" window we should consider. We explained to the guy, that we had just had a major plumbing issue, and although we put a band-aid on the leak, we still had to replace our main water line. Once this guy came to realize that we were not going to write him a check that night, he got very huffy, started slamming his stuff around putting it away, shoved my dog out of his way and left. Then he proceeds to DRIVE THROUGH MY YARD!!! If the UPS man can manage to back up in my driveway that this guy should have been able to. We just stood there stunned when he left like, "Did that just happen?" Needless to say we never called them back. They are all about high pressure sales and that made me very uncomfortable, and then the salesman's actions were just the cherry on top!

Bottom Line: Ameritech would do better to commit to less projects and pay closer attention to the quality of those projects. They can afford to do this with the prices they charge for the work. The sales presentation for both of these projects was excellent, I would rate their marketing team as among the best except for the disparity between words coming out of their mouth and what was guaranteed by the written contract. Assurances were made by the sales representative about the attention to detail of the project which was not reflected by the crew that did the job almost 6 months later. Both projects were started 4-6 months after the date of contract, which I found to be excessively long. The salesperson did not mention the time delay until asked. With a $3,000 price tag per job, I expected expert craftsmanship from core construction to finishing touches of the project. This was not the case. The jobs were roughly installed as quickly as possible with little regard to the details of how they would look when complete. The crews had to come back out to my property on multiple occasions to correct errors with the job and perform tasks that an attentive team lead would have completed the first time around. The foreman does not have time to inspect every job done because of the sheer volume of projects that Ameritech goes through, so I had to request the foreman come to my property to inspect the job with me. Upon inspection he discovered errors that needed correction and had to coordinate for another crew to come and fix the problems. The most glaring error was the fact that the contract specifically stated that the concrete around the support posts would be flush with the patio. The crew partially filled the holes with concrete and then filled the top in with dirt from the holes the posts were placed in. When I completed the walk-through with the foreman, he admitted that the contract dictated that the concrete needed to be flush with the patio. The quality of building materials is excellent, but the finished project severely lacked attention to detail. Paint damage to the interior of my home resulting from the installation of the sliding door was not repaired by the crew, I had to inspect the job after the fact, discover it, and request that it be repaired. When the crew repaired it, they threw some caulk on the seam of the frame and the wall in a crooked line and left it that way. One of the boards on the steps to the patio was cut incorrectly and required replacement by an additional crew visit. The foreman did not come back out to ensure the corrections were made to standard. One of the vinyl posts on the steps leading down to my patio is visibly twisted, and not aligned with the rest of the steps or other posts. When I asked a crew member about this he told me that the post is just a vinyl sleeve over a wooden post, and the wood "just twisted that way after we put it in", he proceeded to tell me he could not control what the wood did after he installed it. My take away from that is that they either knowingly use building materials they cannot guarantee will look professional when complete, or they make up excuses when customers ask questions about why a job does not present a professional appearance. Either answer is unacceptable. The crew also did not affix a piece of trim from the post to the step, and it was left loose. When I requested that they affix the trim, the crew came out and put some caulking on the piece which affixed it in a crooked fashion. After more discussion, the crew member agreed that he would have to put some actual adhesive on it to ensure it stayed straight. The work was never completed, and I had to purchase my own adhesive to fix the problem. When financing through their bank, Ameritech billed us before we actually signed off that the work was complete. The crew came out, completed the job in a sub-standard fashion, and left without saying anything to us. We then received our bill in the mail while I was waiting for someone to come and conduct a walk through of the project with me and have me sign the Job Satisfaction Certificate. In my opinion, this is an unethical business practice, because the crews still had to come out and complete work, but we were required to start paying the installments so our credit report would not be affected, and Ameritech was paid in full by the bank for unfinished work because they simply told the bank they completed it.
Description of Work: Ameritech completed 2 separate projects for us, a new sliding door to the rear of our property, and the steps leading down to our patio. Each job was approximately $3,000. The sliding door has a composite frame, is triple-paned and gas-filled. The steps down to our patio are made of Azek composite decking with vinyl posts and railings.

Ameritech installed windows and the product and service are great. Called company back to ask a follow up question, but the initial project manager never called back. On initial contact, when I told them my wife would not be present for the estimate, they said they would not do the work. They later called back and said they would do the estimate without my wife and set up an appointment for 12:00PM, June 7. On the morning of Jun 6, they called to confirm the appointment, but again when I told them my wife would not be present, they refused to keep the appointment and hung up. Each time I spoke with Ameritech, it was a different individual. There is no need for my wife to be available to get an estimate on this work. We are not financing the work, but paying cash. There was no need for them to refuse, then schedule, then refuse again, all within a 24 hour period. I had other Window Replacement companies gladly come and give estimates as well as suggestions on how to reduce the cost. My wife was not involved and it was not a problem.

The sales presentation was what you'd expect, a high pressure sales pitch that mostly focused on distinguishing other companies' windows and sales tactics. We decided to go with Ameritiech based on the salesman's affirmation that they had great installers and don't sub contract their work. If I remember correctly, he also pointed out that a local wholesale club uses Ameritech as their window installers. When the installation occurred the windows were far from perfect. They were functional, but the framing and trim left a lot to be desired. The windows were not flush with the wall as the installers took the easy way out and installed directly over the original frame. After a follow up visit from the installation crew, and another half day's work, the installers still didn't install the windows without issue. One thing I can say is that the production manager did come out the third time and did his best to fix the trim work after the first two failed attempts. Needless to say, when paying over $1300 ea. for small windows, in the end these windows were not worth the hassle or price we paid. One other thing that really put us off was the dozens of cold-call/ telemarketing calls we received from Ameritech while our windows were being manufactured. We had already signed a contract with them and their marketing department wouldn't stop calling us even after we told them that we had already hired them. I took that as a sign of desperate times, and if our experience is any indication of the state of their business, I'd have to guess these aren't the best of times.

High quality products. Excellent initial presentation of materials and services being offered. Clear explanations without pressure to purchase. Very attractive discounted pricing offered if decision made within a certain time-frame. Delivery and installation occured in timely manner, and completed by skilled technicians. Responsive follow-up to questions. After a few months, a change in temperatures revealed a slight adjustment was needed for the front door, and this was done promptly upon request, at no additional charge.

I decided not to acquire the services of Ameritech Construction becuase the salesman's presentation was unprofessional and his etiquette was highly questionable. I'll make this brief. He arrives at the scheduled hour (11 am) for a 60-90 minutes presentation. However, he takes almost three, yes, THREE hours to complete his talk. This caused the next window salesman (which I had scheduled for 1:00 pm) to sit around and wait. First red flag! The Ameritech salesman finally comes around to writing up a quote. I informed him I was not ready to make a decision and I was looking in to all my window options before deciding which product to purchase. He proceeds to ask me if I could show him the quotes provided by the other window companies I had spoken to and , if I would give him the actual written quotes. Major red flag! Well, I say no because I need them. As he is packing his materials to go, he takes back the quote he prepared. I ask him if I can keep it and he non-chalantly states, no, he wants to stay ahead of the competition. Another red flag! Might not be a big deal to some, but to me, he did not seem transparent or honest. By the way, the window product presented was THV Compozite Windows. Ultimately, went with fiberglass windows.

Weirdest experience I have ever had while trying to purchase a product. I submitted an online request for Ameritech to contact me. they called and started gathering information about number of windows, why I wanted to replace my windows and things related to the actual work to be done. The salesman on the phone then asked for my wifes name (Why he assumed I was married I do not know). I asked him why he needed this, and he started to tell me about these heat loss and external noise tests that they do, but still no explanation for needing my wifes name. I told him I would rather not give him that information and that I would give it to whoever came to the house. He then told me they would not come to the house without her name. So I said okay and we ended the call. I can't believe that a company would turn away business because I don't give out personal information over the phone. I guess this company hasn't been hit by the recession or they are so busy that they can turn away potential customers. So since that is the case I will gladly give my money to a company that doesn't require the names of all the people in my household to do business. As a matter of fact I made an appoinment with Seneca Creek home improvement and they said it would be nice if all decision makers could be there, but they understand schedules don't always mesh and all they needed was my name. Imagine that kind of customer service!

They showed up on time and cleaned up all the trash left behind. They performed the work within the timeframe that they had orginally told me. Everything has been great since we used them. They are a bit pricey, but their work is definitely worth it.
Description of Work: They installed new gutters (gutter guard). They put all new shingles on the roof. They took off a couple of vent things that were of no use. I think what was happening, was water was coming in through those vents, and they sealed them up. We have not had any water issues since then. They also put in all of our windows. They also put in new doors.

The work was done well and on time. They went beyond just replacing the windows and replaced a window sill where we took out two windows and replaced them with a single picture window. They are easy to work with and willing to fix any issues large or small (we've only had one small issue).

Agent came to our house and provided a thorough, clear and educational presentation regarding the product they offered, including comparison and contrast to competitors' products. Substantial discount from initial quoted price was provided based on our willingness to sign contract at time of the presentation. Federal tax credit significantly offset total price to us. My CPA was impressed with the documentation provided by AmeriTech for the purpose of receiving the tax write-off. Work was done as scheduled with minimum of disruption. All workers were professional, courteous, and skilled. When front door needed minor adjustment about 14 months following its installation, a service man was promptly dispatched by Ameritech to perform this.

Signed contract in April 2005; they didn't start building deck until August 26th. Sunroom construction didn't begin until Oct 2. Upon "completion," the floor consisted of only warped strandboard ( written plans approved by county specified plywood) with a gap between the porch floor and the house. Floor was not level and was higher than that of our interior floors. When we placed a tile at the seams it wobbled. The skylights leaked, roof leaked. The vinyl was sloppy in many places. Eventually, after employing a lawyer, an inspector, and contacting the sunroom manufacturer, Ameritech agreed to diassemble and reassemble the porch to fix the problems. The company owner was extremely rude and insulting to me - accusing me of sabotaging our own project. As evidence for this, he said that the skylights, which came factory installed into the roof, leaked because we insisted on the dissassembly of the room. This was simply false, as our skylights had not come preinserted into the roof and the roof leaked before the dissassembly. Furthermore, during the reconstruction of the sunroom, they had to remove the gutters above our dining room door. We knew there was a thunderstorm predicted for that day and asked that this area be covered if the gutters could not be reinstalled before the storm arrived. When the storm began, the began departing. I asked them to cover that portion of the roof, as they were walking away, but they said that I would have to talk to the project supervisor about that. The rain came streaming in through our dining room glass door. It was pretty horrible. The entire project was not completed until August 2006. We will never do business with this company again. We later learned that they later used us as a reference for prospective customers! Strange!

The salesman had a very long the sales pitch, it required listening for 3 hours, there was pressure to commit to the purchase right away because of a deep discount on the price. We had to refinance the condo to pay for the services so it took about 45 days for the whole process to be complete. The salesman, pre-installation measurement technician and the installers always arrived at the time they promised. The pre-installation technician could only come at certain times, this was due to the fact that one of the only two people who perform this task was sick therefore the preinstallation measurment for the replacement windows ended up not being very convenient. When the installers arrived they worked really fast and did a great job. They laid down plenty of drop clothes on the floor and put forth a real effort in getting the job done quickly. They said they would be finished by 1:00PM and they finished at 1:20PM so I was happy with how long it took. The only complaint I have about the installation was that there was some metal dust left around in all of the rooms and on some of the beds from the demolition/removal of the old windows and they seemed to miss picking up some of the mess on the ground outside where the windows were installed. Other than doing a slightly less than perfect cleanup they did a great job. The new windows are really great. They do a fantastic job keeping the condo warm or cool as the case my be and they are easy to clean and use. The new back sliding glass door is wonderful. While the windows and the installtion were expensive the end results are really great. Overall my family is very pleased with the new windows and the job Americtech performed. I would consider using Ameritech again for a future construction project.
Description of Work: Ameritech replaced all of the windows, six total, and one sliding glass door in our Condo unit.

They did a good job. The windows showed up earlier than anticipated; they had given a window of 6 to 8 weeks but the windows were done in 4 weeks time. They called ahead but they had to reschedule due to weather. They showed up on time and were neat. They finished it within the time span that they had indicated. The price was as contracted but they were a bit high in terms of pricing. I would rate them highly. I think I would use them in the future but it is too soon to tell because the work was done just last Saturday.

Ameritech promptly responded to call for estimate on cost of door replacement and installation. Rep was very knowledgeable and courteous. Reviewed the product and explained clearly all the steps right through installation and clean-up! Technicians arrived promptly for the installation appointment. Job foreman was friendly and treated me with great respect. The entire crew was very professional - setting in place drop cloths to protect hardwood floors and furniture. Removed old door and installed new, did all trim work to tie in new installation with existing interior and exterior finishes. My overall impression from start to finish was EXCELLENT!!! Everything was done as promised. I highly recommend Ameritect and will most definitely use their services again for future upgrades to our home!!!
Description of Work: Replaced sliding door that was in sad condition.
