ABL Professional Painting

ABL was professional and quick to respond to my emails. They had the most reasonable estimate and they were able to provide a detailed, emailed copy of the estimate of the work they were planning on performing. I appreciated that they explicitly outlined our mutual expectations. I provided the paint, and they provided the labor and equipment.

ABL Professional Painting Angie's List Review 03_14_2017 The two-painter team's work was better than I thought possible. I bought an Angie's List coupon for 40 man hours of painting for $999. In all they worked 48 man hours, with the additional eight hours being charged at $40 per man hour. The team of Ever and Miguel painted the walls, sloped ceilings, flat ceilings, doors, windows (including the door and window casings) and all of the baseboard trim of two upstairs bedrooms that are 18 feet by 12 feet (including two big dormer areas) and 10 feet by 7 feet (no closets), with seven foot ceilings. They painted the walls, doors, and trim of the living room and family room that are 22 feet by 13 feet and 16 feet by 13 feet, with eight foot ceilings. In other areas, they painted the staircase trim, the inside of the double front doors, an additional four doors, and five door casings. They also painted about 30 additional feet of baseboards. Everything looks great. But first they had to prepare the walls to smooth out old bumps, dips, and paint drips from previous painting and repair mistakes done by others, including myself. With the two bags of Easy20 I provide and with the metal mesh quick-patches I already had, they filled all of the nail holes and several-inch-round-size larger holes. If anything, the areas they patched resulted in flatter, better looking drywall than the surrounding areas. They repaired two large areas with drywall and drywall screws I provided, and I was amazed how good of a job they did -- no ghost outline remains. Even though I remember where the areas are located that were fixed (each over-a-foot-in-size), they are now invisible. With the four tubes if calk I provided, they calked around the door casings, window casings, and baseboards to fill the cracks. With the work shop paper towels I provided, they cleared dust and cobwebs off corners and window sills that I had missed. With the blue painter's tape and the Frog Tape I provided, they taped off all the trim areas (top and bottom), door hardware, and anything else that needed protection. There were no drips on adjoining surfaces. They provided lots of their own drop cloths, sanding poles, drywall repair tools, paint brushes, mini-rollers, et cetera. Twice, they also picked up the paint, which I selected and paid for beforehand, at a paint store in Merrifield, three miles from my house. The first time I didn’t pay for the extra time because the owners had not told the painters that they needed to pick up the paint beforehand. That was a miscommunication, but one that they fixed themselves after I let them know. Now onto the critical part of my review. I was a demanding client, and not all of my demands were met. I wanted a single painter to work for eight hours on non-consecutive days. They send painters in teams of at least two painters. I did not know that was their policy and it was not clearly stated on the coupon listing. If I wanted, they were willing to send two painters to work a half day each. They also did not like the Idea of providing a day off between every painting day. I understand that is an inefficient way to schedule their workers, but that is what I requested. They ended up sending two painters for a full day on Thursday, Friday (after I requested it on Thursday, in the late-afternoon), and the following Monday. That all worked out better than I originally planned. I had originally wanted non-consecutive painting days so I could stay ahead of the painter by moving furniture, furnishings, and clutter out of their way, room by room. I am a bit of a hoarder, so freeing up space to paint by filling in places not being worked on that day, was my plan. I also wanted to save myself money by washing window sills, taking down cobwebs, removing light switch covers and wall plug covers from each room, just before they started preparing each room. I used blue painters tape to cover every light switch and wall plug myself. My space problem was greatly simplified when my daughter finally moved out of the two upstairs bedrooms in my house, at midnight, the evening before the painters were to start work. The painters moved her remaining bed and furniture into the adjoining attic, rather than having to paint around that stuff. The reason the living room and family room ceilings were not painted was because I had bookcases and furniture in the middle of those two rooms that almost reached the ceiling. The painters worked around them, and did a great job in spite of being crowded by the furniture. They would have offered to help with moving the big stuff, but I stayed ahead of them, despite their painting on two consecutive days. The twelve full bookcases, when placed on top of bathroom towels, slid well on the hardwood floors. Despite my non-business-friendly demands, my delays with the starting date (several times, for months), and my decision to use my usual contractor to do the repairs that I had received ABL's drywall/trim quotes to do, ABL Professional Painting treated me courteously, patiently, and honestly. Their work was extremely good. I had a very positive experience, despite my apprehension after being so demanding and inconsistent to them in my many emails. Until they read this review, I am not sure the owners would want me as a client again, but I would use them again, without reservation, in a heartbeat. Russell Lusher

It was a great experience. The team was VERY professional and proud of their work. They arrived when they said they would and cleaned up afterward. They were a pleasure to deal with. Our house looks beautiful and we have received several positive comments from our neighbors. I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs painting. I will hire them again when I need some indoor painting work done.

We scheduled the appointment a week prior, and although I did not get a confirmation the day before, they were scheduled to come at 8:30 and showed up only a few minutes later than that. The guy who showed up was professional, got right to work, asked which sink he could use to clean up at the end of the day and didn't leave any mess behind! The walls look amazing and the paint job came out nice. He did a great job, and I would use them again for future painting jobs.

The painter finished the job in one day (a Saturday), as estimated on the phone beforehand and in the morning when someone accompanied the painter to survey the job. The end result was great. I would hire them again for other jobs. The company took my late evening calls to set the date and online deal.

The painters were very polite and professional! They were a little late due to traffic, but they finished in the estimated time and the walls look amazing (they prepped by spackling holes and sanding as needed). The crew also covered all the furniture with plastic and covered all the floors with paper. They were very careful to protect everything and they did a great job cleaning up at the end. Ari, the owner, and Osbaldo, one of the painters, were especially pleasant to work with. True professionals! I've already asked Ari for another estimate for a separate project.

Purchased a Big Deal for 3-painter days (24 hours) inside and/or outside. Met with the representative, explained that the main area we wanted done. He asked about other areas which might need painting, so we discussed those as I was uncertain how much three painters could accomplish in a day. When I received ABL's "proposal", it included, in addition to the $800 dollar big deal, $2640 of additional work, including a $900 add-alternate for the main area we wanted done. Once I got over the shock, I replied that I would like the Big Deal work to start on the main area we indicated, and based on the quality and efficiency of that work, we would decide whether or not to add additional work. ABL never responded, and I cancelled the Big Deal just prior to the 30-day window. I felt they were deceptive at best, if not actually unscrupulous. I would recommend looking elsewhere for your painting needs. By the way, I am anything but a professional painter, but I scraped, primed, and painted one end of the house in about 4 hours, which I figure works out to paying myself about $100 per hour based on their proposal.

They were professional, punctual, great work ethic. Minor issue with the powder room that I had called, then after I had paid them, subsequently got a called from the owner, very responsive, it went very well. Super job, very good job. Professional job of the owner and workers.

The owner was very quick to respond to my request and provide a thorough estimate with multiple options to evaluate for cost comparison. They were willing to compress they're work schedule to meet our needs. They were very professional and did a nice job following up even when we realized that the buyer of our house was going to use someone else. If we need painting services again, we will definitely include this company in process.

ABL did a terrific job painting the interior of my home. Entire 1st floor ceilings and all the trim + an upstairs hall area. Punctual, pleasant, excellent work and a fair price. I certainly would use their services again.

Came out for estimate, promptly received an estimate, was easy to schedule, workers arrived on time, completing all work and cleaning up each day (took approx 1-1/2 days).

ABL did an absolutely outstanding job. We recently had a rental house of ours painted by another company that skimped on the prep work. Preparing the surfaces for paint is where ABL excels. They took as much time preparing the wood and metal surfaces as the actual painting. For example, they sanded much of the old paint from the metal front door down to the metal. The 30-year old door looks new. They were not rushed to complete the job and move on. Their additional prep work shows in their finished product. ABL painters are total pros and we would gladly hire them again. We salute both Oscar and Rolando for their methodical prep work and painting.

We hired ABL Painting to paint two bedrooms. Lue came out to give an estimate the day after I contacted him and he was able to complete the work the next day. The painters showed up on time, did quality work and were professional. The price was much lower than quotes I received from two other companies. I would definitely use ABL again.

We wanted to paint the first and second level of our house before moving in to it. After getting three estimates, we decided to go with Ari because of his professionalism and demeanor. His price was very comparable to the other two estimates as well. The workers were always at our house by 8 o'clock and stayed until around 6 each night. They worked quickly and efficiently. Most days there were two men working but towards the end they had another two painters come help them finish up as we were on a deadline. There was a little bit of a language issue at times but we were able to understand each other for the most part. Whenever Ari came to check in, it was easy to communicate and get any questions answered. After the work was done, Ari had us do a thorough review of the work. Then, he sent out a painter to finish all the little jobs. We were very particular on how some of the work should be done and they were great on working with us and finishing the job the way we wanted it done. We were also impressed that he wouldn't take payment until we were completely satisfied with the work. We had a great experience with ABL Professional Painting and will definitely be calling them again when we need more painting done.

Excellent. They came in with the lowest bid (over $1000 less than a couple others) and did fantastic work. Easy to schedule, friendly workers, and it looks great. They even did some extra work that I had not asked them to do (painting gutters) and actually fixed a couple small things with a porch railing as well. Absolutely no complaints with their service.

Have high ceilings and could not remove all the glue from my walls from the wallpaper we remove. After getting a quote, we supplied the paint. There was some confusion on what we wanted painted but, once we went back over everything the two men got started straight away. Always on time or early and made me feel comfortable. Did a great job and very happy will continue to use this company.

Called for an estimate for the above work. The estimator arrived on time. Within three days received the proposal for the work. Scheduled for the work to be done in two sessions to decrease on the overwhelming phases of painting almost the whole house. Company was able to honor this request. Two painters - Ever and Miguel arrived on time and were VERY pleasant. Told Ever that it had been a while since the house was painted and that I felt very over whelmed at the condition of house. Ever was very kind and was able to move furniture to where he wanted it and was very understanding as to why the house was in the condition that it was. The kitchen and bedroom were done in two days to perfection. The following week the rest of the house was done within two days. I am very happy and pleased with the painting and extremely moved with the gentleness and understanding of Ever during this time. I am VERY happy with the work and with the employees that the company has!!!!!!!! Will hire again!!!!!

The company was prompt in providing the estimate and the service. They called to say they could come to start a day early, which was great. They were careful, detailed, yet efficient in their work. My house looks great!

ABL Painting responded promptly to my request for an estimate on interior painting for my home. The estimate included not only the price for painting, but also the details about repairing my walls, the number of coats of paint to be applied, and every surface that would be painted. I was not left guessing about any aspect of the job. The estimate also listed their insurance information. The painters arrived on time, were very professional, and covered my entrance way stairs with clean tarps so they wouldn't track paint or dirt on my carpets as they moved in and out of the rooms being painted. My rooms look amazing with their new coats of paint. I would ,and will hire ABL Painting again.

The ABL team always arrived punctually. All the work was very professionally done. They did a great job in removing and replacing areas with rotten wood so they looked perfect. The scraping and preparation were thorough, with all the old, pealing paint and window putty removed. Then everything was painted and caulked, neat and clean. The old wooden shutters were in particularly poor condition, with several shutters loosing vanes. ABL Painting took them all down, stripped them, reinserted the vanes, and reassembled them. They then primed and painted them. The result is the shutters look like new. In fact, all the wood work looks like new. Interior work was straightforward, but again ABL Painting did it on schedule and very professionally. The ceilings look great and when they finished, the rooms were 100% clean.
