Winston's Chimney Service

The came quickly and they left a bill. I didn't have to be home which I thought was nice because they just left the bill in the mailbox. I was very pleased.

Answered phone immediately, very professional on the phone, said it may be 1-2 weeks, but showed up the next day and did the job and left the bill. Washed out the down spouts and bagged the debris. Less than half the price I've paid before to have someone leaf blow out the gutters. I'll definitely use them again. In fact, I'm thinking of signing up for a regular service.

Overall, this was a very satisfactory experience, and feel confident that the problems have been resolved. The company was prompt to return phone calls, the estimator was punctual, and the workmen also arrived at the appointed times. Prior to starting work, the bricklayer left 4 bricks for me to select one as a proper match-up to the brick of my chimney; unless you knew some of the bricks had been replaced, it would be hard to tell just by looking. Even the new mortar color matches the old. The work came with a warranty, but the workmen did not have a written warranty to give me on their last work day. However, it was received in the mail the following week.

I was very impressed with the level of service from this company. I emailed my request for service and received a call back within the hour. Someone was here to do the work within 3 days of the initial request. The debris was bagged and an invoice was left at the house.

Last firm I used no longer available. Researched gutter cleaning services and called for estimate. Winston's returned call promptly within 24 hours, explained pricing basis. Scheduled service to clean spring-clogged gutters (due to overall excellent Angie's List reports, responsiveness and reasonable cost range estimated). Expected within a week but staff person came even sooner. Did good job, charged less than the last company I used - a reasonable yet competitive rate. Seems great so far; based on this, will certainly use them again this fall & recommend to others.

They were on time. They were very nice and explained everything to us. We asked about a part on the chimney, but they said that since they didn't install it, they wouldn't be able to service it. We found that to be odd because we don't know who installed it!

Very helpful to us and reassuring. We had been uncertain about the condition of the 12 year-old fireplace and its refractory walls, could not get the damper to close, and did not know how the forced-air fan worked. He advised clearly on these matters, stated that the chimney, while well-used, did not need to be cleaned, that the firebox had cracks but they were minor, and that the metal chase cover on the roof, although rusty, did not need replacement. He also advised how we could fix rather than replace the broken mesh screens if we wished. He gave us clear, sensible, advice on all our issues.

Terrific. They arrived within the appointed hour, were extremely courteous and professional. They laid a covering down in the living room but even that hardly seemed necessary, they were very careful and very neat. Marcelo, our main contact, made sure we understood what they were doing, why, and what they were finding. He gave us a positive report and his only recommendation was for 2 chimney caps (which we know we should have); he did not try to sell us anything unnecessary. The fee for the cleaning was as quoted. We liked and trusted them well enough to ask him to take care of the caps right then & there, but we hadn't scheduled the time for that. So we've already scheduled for them to come back next week for that job.

Mr. Jose and partner arrived at they time they said they would. When they arrived, Mr. Jose introduced himself and explained what they were going to do. They let me watch and ask questions as they worked. Because of the age of our house, Mr. Jose patiently explained the current status of the flues and then talked about a few options regarding different levels of repairs that may be necessary in the future. However, understanding that we did not want to immediately invest $1000's of dollars into the fireplace, he also recommended a few work-arounds and told us what to watch out for so that we would know when repairs became absolutely necessary. Overall, this was a great experience. My main concern was having someone try and push tons of repairs on us and there was absolutely no pressure from Mr. Jose. We will definitely use them again when necessary.

Winston's cleaned our gutters early on in the two week time frame they gave me over the phone and they did a thorough and neat job.

Actually, we weren't home when they came. But two bags of gutter gunk was by our trash can and the bill was in the door.

After another Angie's List company failed to be able to accommodate my schedule, Winston's agreed to come within a mutually agreeable 2-hour window of time. (In fact, they called in the beginning of the day, and ended up coming at an earlier, even more convenient time.) The gentleman moved the small amount of furniture necessary to access the fireplace. The work was done efficiently, in the time expected, and everything was left completely neat. Unfortunately, we will need several hundred dollars worth of additional cleaning and repair, but we will definitely call Winston's again to have this done once the winter is over.

They were on time, polite and very informative. The gave me several options and walked me through both of them. They did a good job.

Got the estimate, but I then found out they would be unable to match the color of my existing gutters, so I decided to keep shopping for a company that could match the color.

Scheduled my appointment. They came while I was gone and cleaned the gutters. I could see one of the gutters from an upstairs window and it wasn't completely clear of leaves. I called and they sent someone to finish the job. Hopefully the gutters I can't see were done right. I've used this company in the past and this was the 1st time I had to call them back.

The service providers were polite. They performed the work in an efficient manner and cleaned up after the service. As the supervisor was leaving, he thanked me for putting my trust in his company. I feel confident that I did make the right decision and will use this company next year.

Winston's was very prompt and was able to schedule both the estimate and actual work quickly. The workers were on time and very professional.

Went well; the gutters were completely free of leaves and branches, as well as the roof.

This is also a chore that I think is best left to the professionals, like Winston's. They seem very knowledgeable about fireplaces and chimneys. They also did a very nice job cleaning up when the work was done. I will call them in the future to take care of the chimney, again.

Very honest and informative. Did just what was practical and necessary to be done and discouraged more expensive and unnecessary work. They know their chimneys!

Great. There were two visits involved. After I called their office, a few days later the company owner himself (Charles Hall) showed up for the first visit to do the estimate. Very professional, intelligent guy, and quite a character. He was very down-to-earth and set realistic expectations in terms of how effective they might be at getting the dirt, water, and mildew stain off of our exterior chimney masonry, and this was the bulk of the cost of the work to be done. A week later his crew showed up, led by a guy named Rob, make note. The end result was spectacular. The three guys in the crew were all very professional, and they did a great job, FAR exceeding my expectations. It wasn't cheap (by my standards anyway) but I very highly recommend them for this kind of work (exterior masonry cleaning). Since there's no way I'm going up on my roof, I can't say how well they did cleaning the gutters. Given how the chimney turned out, I'm assuming the gutters are pristine.

They came for the estimate as promised. Once I authorized the work, they completed it within one week.

Very well. I left them a message on a Friday evening, and was contacted first thing on Monday morning. They indicated, that the job would be done within two weeks and that I did not need to be home. The job was done yesterday, a week and a half, from originally calling them. Two garbage bags full of debris was sitting at the curb, when I got home. No leaves and gunk sitting under the gutters. I have been using them for a number of years and think they do a fabulous, timely and neat job.

This was repair work cited by a home inspector on behalf of our home buyers. We were looking for a quick, not too expensive fix. Winston's offer was the lowest of three estimates. The serviceman said he could match the existing bricks but it turned out he could not. We went ahead with the work anyway. It looked fine. They were very careful to keep the house clean. But after it was done the workmen dumped broken bricks and mortar debris into our flower beds. If you use this company you should make sure they remove debris from property.
