Winston's Chimney Service

They told me that the other two companies I had out were not being truthful in the work that was needed. No work was needed at all. They did an excellent with the chimney sweep. I'd highly recommend them and use them again in the future.

They did a good job and I was able to use a coupon that I had for the repair. I would use them again if I have any other problem with my chimney.

Winston's has done a great job cleaning our gutters on all occasions. The only problem we have had is that they walked on our slate roof when we told them not to because it can crack the tiles. We're happy with the results and continue to use them.

Fantastic-they were punctual, professional and efficient. The chimney was repaired and the antenna was removed at about half the price of other companies who gave me quotes.

Winston's seems to be a professional, well-run operation. Prices for the two caps seem to be within the standard range for the neighborhood ($150 each); the prices for the flue extension and concrete crown (which are needed to install the caps) seems high.

Fine - he originally came to do a level 2 inspection of my chimney, but he didn't do it because he said he it was a waste of time because the wood stove had not been installed according to code. He explained the code violations to me and told me what would need to be done to bring it into compliance.

They were incredible. They were very honest and straightforward. They were timely and got the job done in a timely manner. They were personable and professional. We had another company look at the chimney and they told us the chimney needed all kinds of repairs. This company said the chimney was fine other than the flashing that needed to be fixed. It is so refreshing to have a company be so honest.

Their inspector was about a half hour late arriving but inspected the chimneys quickly and efficiently. He seemed both knowledgeable and professional. I know nothing about chimneys and therefore he easily could have provided me with a long list of items in need of repair. Instead, however, he told me that everything looked good except that one of the three chimneys needed to be cleaned, which he did on the spot.

The 2 guys arrived early, which was great. Both were professional and friendly. The looked at the chimney from the inside and decided that it really didn't need to be cleaned, there were merely a few cobwebs in it. They then headed up to the roof to inspect it from the outside. They came back with a clean bill of health for our chimney! The fee was only $75 for them to do the inspection. We have used them once before and would continue to use them.

Able to get an appointment soon after I called. Crew of two arrived two hours early, since two other appointments had been canceled. Did a thorough job of going up on the roof to check things up there and coming inside to clean and check for any problems. Kept the place clean and were courteous and conscientious.

It went well. They came out and did what they were supposed to do. They cleaned up after themselves and so far so good.

They did a fine job. I haven't had any problems with the chimney since they did the work. The workers came on time and were professional and friendly.

Very well. Highly recommend this company for any fireplace/chimney work. I used several firms for fireplace services over the past 10 years and they are the most honest and professional firm that I have dealt with for this type of service.

Overall it went excellent. The crew showed up on time and they were all very friendly (same guys that came to do the estimate plus 1 extra worker). Added a stainless liner and cap on one of the chimneys and put a stainless plate on the other that we needed to close off. Steve thought there might be complications due to the age and condition of the chimney (clearly stated during the estimate) - but things went well and they ended up finishing a few hours earlier than scheduled. Offered to either take pictures of the work performed so I wouldn't have to go up on the roof or help me up if I wanted to see in person. I looked in person and was very satisfied. Overall great work and I would recommend. I only got 1 bid after reading other reviews that stated how Winston's saved them significantly versus other contractors - I feel the price was fair for the work performed.

Winston's quickly responded to my request for a gutter cleaning. They came by within a few days (just as they said they would) and did a thorough cleaning of the gutters. I wasn't here when they performed the service, so the only "evidence" I had of their being there was a garbage bag of gunk from the gutters that was ready for the garbage truck to pick up. They left the invoice in the mailbox, and it couldn't have been easier or more painless. I'll use them again!

They did a good job. It was a reasonable price and their estimate was the lowest one. They offered me two pricing options, as to repair or totally replace. They did guarantee the brick and their work.

The service was completely and accurately described in my first phone call to them, including prices. They offer a discount if your neighbor(s) get their gutters cleaned at the same time (one service call). You don't have to be home for them to do the work. They called the day before (I had arranged that part because I needed to unlatch the back gate for them). Everything was in perfect order when I got home. They even reinstalled some of our gutter guards that had recently come down and were sitting on our deck.

They came for the estimate and he explained what needed to be done. They showed up on time and worked hard and efficiently. They were very clean and finished when they said they would be done.

We used them last year to clean our gutters and they sent a guy out who did the job quickly with no problem. This year a team of five guys arrived in February to clean last fall's leaves out and the price inexplicably rose from $80 to $130. My wife tried to watch them do the job but they still managed to skip the highest level of gutters. The result was when the spring rains came we had a steady drumbeat of overflowing gutters every night right outside our bedroom window. We asked them to come back and finish the job. Another crew arrived and said it was tree pollen blocking the top gutters and recharged us for a new job. I checked what they removed--left in a bag on the ground--and it looked like heavily decomposed leaves. I complained in a letter with photos and they finally reversed the second charge. The end result was fine but with all of the BS, hassle, and time it took out of my life there's no way I'll use them again. BE WARNED.

Very well. They came in as scheduled, did a cleaning and took measurements for the replacement cap. Within a few days they returned and completed the work. Both times they left the work area clean. I was very pleased with their work.

They did the work they were hired to do, and it went fine.

They are excellent to work with. I can't say enough wonderful things about them. They check our chimney each year and if it doesn't need service, they don't even charge.

Original service call lasted less than 20 minutes. I asked the tech if if used screws on the new screens. He said they did not need screws, even though I pointed to older screens lying around the yard which had obviously blown down. He still insisted these "new style" screens required no screws. I then asked if he had cleaned the downspouts. He said they were already clean. Given they have double bends and the gutters had not been cleaned in two years, I said you cannot tell without using a hose. He insisted this was not needed. I called immediately and complained to management. They claimed tech was not a gutter person (so why did they send him?). They sent another person who put two screws in each screen. I was unable to tell if they flushed the downspouts as my inspection was several days later.
