Winston's Chimney Service

Winston's staff were very professional and informative. I recently purchased my home, and have wood-burning fireplaces for the first time. My home inspector advised that I should have the chimneys cleaned before I used them. Winston sent out two men who inspected my chimneys. They inspected them from inside as well as from the roof, and said that they didn't need to be cleaned. They explained how frequently the chimneys should be cleaned and said that I could use one of them for the rest of the winter and the other for both this winter and next. I will definitely have them back to do the cleaning. When I said that I have had some smoke coming out of my upstairs fireplace when I use the downstairs fireplace, they immediately guessed that my chimney caps were incorrectly set at the same height. On inspection, this was my situation, so smoke was hitting the cap and coming back down the other side. They recommended a tile inspection for $99, I agreed and they came back several days later to perform this work.

It went great. They provided me with the information I needed to obtain a permit. Work was quickly scheduled and completed.

They were knowledgeable. We had a little communication breakdown but everything worked out well. We didn?t do a lot of price comparison but this was a fairly pricey job. We were on a deadline and they worked over Thanksgiving week. The quality was excellent.

The sweeps were professional, punctual, and honest. I expected the worst, but they told me my chimney was in overall good shape and didn't need anything. They didn't try to sell me a bunch of services or repairs that I didn't need. They were honest and straightforward. What a refreshing change from some of the contractors in this area. When you find an honest company, keep them!

2 workers showed up on time and looked at our fireplaces. we were totally prepared to have them cleaned, but they inspected them and took pictures that showed they did not need cleaning at this time. went on the roof to check the chimney and the cement crown.. everything looked good so they just charged an inspection fee. we will use them again when we need inspection/chimney sweeping again in the future.

Mr. Charles Hall came the next day after I called, promptly at the promised time. He was very professional, seems extremely well qualified and well experienced and very pleasant. From a very quick look at the wood stove insert, he found that a proper connection to a steel chimney liner could not be made. He explained thoroughly and concisely: the insert, which is a Buck stove about 20+ years old, fits very snugly into the fireplace. That leaves too little room above the stove for the "boot" to make the necessary connection to the chimney liner. So we knew immediately I could not use Winston's services, at least not with this wood stove. He gave me the names of several wood stove dealers, in case I decide to buy a smaller insert, some of whom he said would also give a good deal on installation. He did not pressure me to buy any service or product from Winston's, but did give me a lot of valuable information. I will certainly call Winston's again and will advise friends to do the same.

We had a chimney sweep come out. They told us that extensive repairs were necessary for the chimney. We asked Winstons for a second opinion. They recommended not going in for it. They said that it would have to be done but not to the extent specified by the other company. The man who came out seemed extremely knowledgeable. His explanations made sense to us. We have not had the work done yet. We will use Winstons to do it. When he gave us the estimate, he said that it was too cold to do the work.

There was a minor delay in scheduling but no big deal. I have a makeshift drainspout on my upper floor and they removed a part of it;I think it will be Ok.I was surprised they didn't offer to fix it or didn't mention the shingles below that area might be a little damaged.. They also flushed all these little acorns info my yard.in one small area.again very minor. They left my yard gate open but I always check before letting my dogs out. They gave me an estimate on a leaf screen system. Worker was very nice,called me first as I had requested

They were supposed to clean the chimney but because it wasn?t dirty enough they didn?t clean it. They inspected the chimney and found some debris in it so they took them out. I chose them because of the reviews I read about them. They were exactly on time. They called me to remind me about the appointment. I have plans to use them again to install the chimney caps.

Process was very smooth and quick. They were very nice and in-and-out in about 30 mins. I only gave them a B on price b/c it was $70 for 30 mins. That said, this is about the average for an inspection, so I didn't see it as a huge deal.

Excellent -- from the estimate process to the delivery of services. They worked fast, and left the place clean. The owner of the company was very accomodating, pleasant and honest. Would definitely use this company again.

I received an outragous estimate from another company to have work done on my three sided fireplace. I went to Angie's List and received the name of the top chimney restoration services in the area. Winston's came highly recommended. I made an appointment for a level II chimney inspection. Charles Hall came out to do the inspection. He was extremely knowledgeable, had all the proper certifications, answered all my questions, and had all the newest equipment to assess my chimney. He gave me a much more fair price than the other company. Also note that I had the other company clean my chimney the year before and they never mentioned all the problems I had within my chimney until the economy got bad; then all of a sudden they told me my chimney needs a lot of repair and give me an outragous estimate. I will not longer be using that company. Winston's has a new customer for life. Today, Darryl and Ronnie called me to advise me they would be arriving soon. At arrival they took exra care to cover anything that might get dirt on it and got right to work, and worked steadally until the job was completed. They answered any questions I had when I stopped in to see how things were going. After the job, they cleaned up as if they were never there.

The contractor was on time. Cleaned up after themselves and were professional.

Two men installed the chimney cap. They pointed out some additional concerns and gave me an estimate. Seemed competent and polite.

We were really pleased with our experience with this company. They were very pleasant and polite when we called to schedule. They arrived right on time, and were extremely personable and quick with their work. They gave us several welcome pieces of advice on how to make the chimney work more efficiently. Best of all, their price was very reasonable. We will definitely be using them again.

Minimal time spent on job. Tried to sell us services outside of the company to be performed by the two workmen. Recommended chimney liners be replaced. Questionable integrity. Poor workmanship.

A crew of two showed up on time and quickly went about their work. After inspecting three chimneys, the crew head reported to us that none of the chimneys needed cleaning or were in any other way needing work. They did provide us with an estimate for installing three chimney caps that would keep rain out of the chimneys. I am impressed that they did not take the opportunity to just tell us that we needed to have our chimneys cleaned or do any other unnecessary work. I was steered to this company by a wood stove supplier who told me that Winston's was a very honest company.

I called to establish an appointment but they never showed up. I called several times and they didn't answer and I couldn't leave a message because the mailbox was full. Not a good way to run a business.

The experience with Winstons Chimney Restoration went fine. They came out and did the work. They did a good job. They were reasonable about it too. I didn?t think it was a bad price at all.

The people who came and did the work were fine, but scheduling the job with them was difficult. We made an appointment with them, and they told me that they would attend to us in the sequence in which they work. We did not hear from them for three weeks, and one day they called and said that they would be coming in another hour. The people who came to do the job could not give me any information on who was handling billing and administration, but they gave me an invoice just before they left.

They originally came out and gave me an estimate for the cleaning and replacement. I was not home when they showed up to do the cleaning, however they left the bill in the door. They did a good job and everything is working very well. They were very nice on the phone, although I did not speak with them in person.

I had a good experience with them. They even came out to fix the chimney caps a month later at charge.

Our gutters were badly clogged despite regular cleanings. It seems that the previous people were just cleaning the visible leaves, but not forcing water thru the gutters to check for clogs. I called Winston's based on Angie's List. This was in early June when it was raining everyday. They said they would try to get to me within the week, but actually showedup the next day. I was able to test their work immediately because it continued to pour rain. I will definitely use them again.

They are very professional and I highly recommned them. They catch everything wrong including things with boiler system flue and your chimney flue. They are reasonably priced.
