Winston's Chimney Service

They were very professional and nice. They cleaned our chimney quickly and without making any mess, and also told us when we might need to fix a crack in our fireplace, the best way to have it fixed, and how much it would probably cost. They were very knowledgeable about and super helpful with our chimney issues. We'll definitely use them again when we need to have the crack fixed. We had also scheduled a dryer vent cleaning with them, which they discovered that they could not complete due to the angle of the dryer vent. They also told us, though, that the dryer vent appeared to be completely blocked because there was no air exiting the vent when the dryer was on. They were very nice to refer us to another company that could take care of the dryer vent issue. We later learned, however, that we have a ventless dryer (we just bought a new house, dryer came with it), and that's why there was no air coming out of the vent. So, I'm not sure I would call Winston's for dryer vent issues, but I would definitely use them again for chimney issues.

While the cleaning was performed satisfactorily and the service was prompt and curteous, the price quoted for relining four fireplaces, including rebuilding a chimney from the roofline up, was significantly above all of the competition. Winston's took a lot of care to understand the scope of the issue and provide a detailed writeup on what work needed to be performed; however, that level of service couldn't justify a price point nearly three times the competition. In the end, I went with another company and have been pleased with the results, while spending $20k less.

It went as well as can be expected. Our furnace was in the way of the flue and Winston's people had to coordinate with our furnace people, who had to disassemble part to the furnace so Winston's folks could get at the flue. The technical people who came to our house were quite professional. My main complaint that the person I spoke with on the phone who did the scheduling did not always communicate well with the technical people.

I scheduled to have our dryer vent cleaned. They did have to call 24 hours out and adjust the timeframe they'd come out by one hour (later), but I did not mind. They did a great job, were very professional. I'd call them again.

Winston's Chimney Service’s estimate was very high. They were responsive, careful and thorough.

We hired Winston to clean 2 chimneys (after a winter of fairly heavy burning, I might add) they did a great job and also gave us some tips on additional work that needs to be done that we were unaware of.

The technicians arrived on time, were professional, and performed the work well. They showed me the condition of the chimney on the inside on a video monitor and explained what needed to be done and gave a quote for the cost of repairs.

.I was pleased with their knowledge and professionalism, and they did the jobs well, but they were a bit careless in the end. For example, they forgot to reattach the dryer vent when they finished cleaning it, and when repairing masonry on the chimney they dropped cement into my air conditioner, which dented the fan blades and caused a horrible racket when I turned the AC on in spring. Still, they do what they do well. It is a good idea to check up on them though.

I called Winston's and one other chimney repair company to get a chimney crown repaired per a home inspection. Not only was Winston's cheaper but the person I talked to on the phone to discuss the service and home inspection report was really knowledgable and helpful. The repairman (who was also the estimator) was friendly, punctual and efficient with the repair. Winston's also provided a 5 year warranty on the crown reconstruction.

Excellent experience with Winston's. Called to schedule an estimate and was able to get one the next day due to a cancellation. Rob (who is superb!) came out to inspect my chimney as I needed stainless steel caps to replace old galvanized ones that kept bleeding rust color down the chimney bricks. I also needed a new crown and he found 2 chimney bricks that needed replacing. He thoroughly inspected the chimney and said everything else was fine. I asked about dryer vent cleaning, but what I really wanted was a new vent system to replace my rather flimsy one but the office rep I spoke to when I made my appt. for the estimate told me that Winston's did not offer that service. However, Rob told me he could put in a new vent system, so I added that to the list. Before Rob left my house I called the office and we set up a date for the following week for the work to be done. Rob, along with Adam, came to do the work as scheduled. Overall, I am delighted with the professionalism and quality of their work. Rob was great and went the extra mile. I would definitely recommend Winston's and would use them again myself.

Workers were extremely knowledgeable and thorough. They advised against more expensive work that other companies suggested. They were wonderful to work with and took their time explaining what they were doing and why.

We were satisfied with what they did. They were responsive and they had a solid service. They had a reasonable price. We will use them again in the future.

Went fine, a bit pricey but worth it.

You have to be impressed with companies that are honest enough in evaluations to inform you when work does NOT need to be done. Our chimney did not require sweeping, but the evaluator did identify the need for a new chimney cap, as ours was rusted.

Ever since they resealed the chimney we have not had any trouble with the chimney and of course we have not had any major hurricane since then. As far as we know it has worked fine. We made an appointment with them and they came out when they were supposed to. They did an initial inspection and told us what options we have to correct the problem, we discussed with them and chose what we wanted done. They came out when they said they are going to come out and the prices were according to what we had agreed to and found the work to be successful. Over all I can’t think of anything that they could have done that they did not do and they kept the commitments. Price wise it was reasonable.

Excellent overall chimney sweep and inspection

The repairmen were wonderful and very knowledgeable. They took the time to explain everything to us and ensure we understood what was needed to keep our chimney from leaking. They arrived on time in February and were completed the job very quickly. We gave them a A even though the March repair (the installation of the new rain cap) took many tries. They arrived thinking they were supposed to be re-installing the old cap, then when they came the next time to install the new cap, they brought the wrong size, so they had to come back a third time. What made up for the many tries (and ensured their A rating) is that they will complete the repairs when you aren't home and bill you. So it wasn't really disruptive to our schedule, we just expected the repair to be made one day and we had to wait for another few days. Overall, they did a wonderful job, are very good at explaining what needs to be done to fix something, and have exceptionally friendly customer service representatives. We will be using Winston's again in the future and would recommend them to anyone who needs an inspection, repair, or sweep.

these guys took a tough job and handled it with professionalism. when the new damper didn't work right, they kept coming back until they put one in that did. i'll be using them next year for my second chimney that needs to be repaired.

The crew arrived within the time frame specified, performed the sweep and presented some recommendations for repairs to be done. No hard sell on the repairs (which we elected not to pursue). Overall, very positive experience.

They came on a rainy day. They looked up the fireplace and told me that I didn't have to have any cleaning done. They wanted to charge me $99.00 for the 10 minutes they were here to look up my fireplace. I agreed to pay them for the milage.

Rob was the consumate professional, as were his workers. They were respectful of our home and clear/honest about the work needed to be done. They came in, did the job right, and left the place as clean as they had found it (except the chimney was cleaner). They paid attention to detail and were determined to do the best job possible, not just what was easiest/quickest.
