Winston's Chimney Service

I'm very pleased with the work. They paid attention to detail. After speaking to the representative after the quote, he made good points about the work. They worked really hard to match the brick to the existing brick since the brick companies at that time are not existent. They were very receptive customer service wise when I asked questions.

They were responsive and did good work. I would use them again in the future.

Requested online appointment and was called same day and given appointment for the following day. Crew was on time, courteous and knowledgable. Kept everything clean. Explained and showed me the state of my chimney via camera. Provided recommendations for future work without pressure. Answered my questions about possibly converting to a gas fireplace. Will most definitely use them in the future.

Work was done promptly, professionally, and correctly. An excellent experience.

The providers were punctual. They did an inspection of the fireplace and chimney stack. Everything turned out ok and they took the time to explain to me what to look out for and how to properly maintain the fireplace.

They are great, can not praise them enough, I told them I was an angies list member and they took 500 dollars off my bill, just wonderful service.

All went well and done exactly as estimated.

Before I was on Angie's List they were supposed to replace the dumper lock because we could't get it closed so the day they were here, I was showing it to them and I gave it a tug, it pulled and it was able to close. So they looked at it but were not able to fix it yet they still charged me for the service they didn't perform. Even though they were not pleasant, they still did the job I contracted them to do which was to clean the chimney. I thought their pricing was high in comparison to other companies doing chimney cleaning but because I had used them before I decided to use them anyway. I wasn't as happy with them as I was the prior times I used them but they did schedule and come out when they said they were going to.

They were very professional and they did the work that was required. They did exactly what I asked and we have had no issues since.

After Parker Pearce did its work installing the new equipment, Winston's crew came out promptly to work on the chimney flue liner, worked very hard, and completed the installation. To a lay person, the job appeared to be well done, and I thought they had done a fine job. However, the work was disapproved by the County?s inspector. The problem was that where tubing from the furnace (installed by Parker Pearce) joined with tubing from the chimney installed by Winston?s, the joining did not meet code requirements. According to the inspector, that was a code violation. The inspector alerted Parker Pearce and they came out a few days later and fixed the problem. While the inspector contacted Parker Pearce to fix the problem, to my mind Winston's was equally at fault since they did their work after Parker Pearce had done its original work, and the problem was the way the Winston's work and the Parker Pearce work joined together. Winston's should have detected the problem while doing its phase of the job and worked out a fix with Parker Pearce. Were it not for the code violation I would have been prepared to rate the quality of Winston's work here as an A.

The two men immediately took their boots off at the front door. They had clean drop clothes which they used. They were friendly, including to my dog. They explained what they were doing and kept moving even though I hovered a bit. This is the second time I've used them in 4 years and both experiences were superior. I think Winston's must have excellent training.

The Winston's technicians arrived promptly, were professional, courteous, and very neat. Upon inspection and cleaning they showed me several cracks and holes in the liner, with the aid of a camera, and recommended it be replaced. Our house is 30+ years old so I was not surprised. Also the crown on the chimney needed to be replaced. The service was scheduled for January and they again arrived promptly. The forecast was calling for rain the next day so instead of putting it off they stayed until about 8:30-9 PM in order to finish, and only stopped for about 15 minutes to have some lunch. We are extremely pleased in the quality of the work, the professionalism of the technicians, and our entire experience including the office staff. The owner and team leader followed up with emails to make sure we were happy. I will definitely continue to use Winston's and highly recommend them to others.

Compared to other similar contractors, they made a far more detailed and professional examination of our chimneys. They identified via camera the problems with our chimneys. These were clear problems other bidders had missed. They then explained the differences in code between now and when the house was built, detailed the dangers inherent in our present chimneys, and carefully mapped out the work needed to be done. Since we do not use our fireplaces, the work needed to be done is not critical and beyond out current budget. When funds are available, however, we will hire them on the basis of their superior assessment of work needing to be done.

Excellent! Winston's helped us with a major chimney renovation last winter - new flue liner, replacing cracks, etc. so when the pulley to open the fireplace broke last week we called to see if they could help. Winston's is punctual, knowledgeable, and just generally helpful. They even asked if my husband was right or left handed so they knew what direction to install the new level. Way to go Winston's.

They did not show up during their appointment window from 10-11:30am. I called at 11am and their system was down and could not provide me an update. I find it hard to work with a company that struggles to meet commitments and communicate effectively. It's unfortunate because their reviews had seemed positive.

I had hired one company for a chimney cleaning and inspection deal. The cleaning went well, but I was shocked to receive their recommendation to remove the existing ceramic flue liner and install a new stainless steel liner. The estimate was close to $3,000, even with an Angie's List customer discount. I voiced my concerns to the manager, who sent another person to inspect the chimney. That representative also recommended the repair. I wanted another opinion from a different company and called Winston's. Everyone I spoke with was professional, well informed and courteous. The tech was very knowledgeable and brought a video camera to perform the free estimate-something that the first company did not do. He showed me areas of the flue that could benefit from repair and explained the problems. He also described another method for fixing the problems and provided an estimate, which was lower than that of the first company. I reviewed all of the educational materials and consulted with other people at Winston's. About a week later, I received a note from Winston's, offering a discount on the estimated repair. I hired them to fix the flue with Heat Shield, rather than stainless steel. The repair went well, and I have been enjoying my fireplace. I will use Winston's for future chimney cleaning and repairs and highly recommend this company.

hey were very punctual, did exactly what we agreed they would do and on time. They were extremely clean, caused no damage to the property nor dropped any wet mortar around the area, which is a common problem with this type of work. I received three estimates from A rated roofers. Winston's price was on line with the others and sightly less. Would gladly call them again.
