This project was completed in Sept. 2014 and consisted of removing a triple set of double hung windows, cutting wall down to floor and installing a set of french doors with side lites. The completion form signed by the customer did not indicate any problems or issues. However in Nov. 2014 a Guild Quality Survey [we pay Guild Quality for 3rd party follow up ] indicated a dissatisfaction with the finish level of drywall work we had done around the door and the customer had already had it refinished by someone else. The other mention to Guild Quality was the customers verbal request for "brass fittings". All of our documents have the stainless steel fittings to match the satin nickle door hardware. That is also what was provided for HOA approval. Of note we have not attempted to bill owner for our having to reroute electrical runs under the windows so that we could finish our work. It is clear in our documents that is was to be done by "others" before we started. We have reached out to the owner to try and resolve his dissatisfaction and would still like to discuss that with him. The fittings could be swapped out easily and we would be happy to compensate for the drywall expense. We would of course like some offset for our electrical expense. Tom Patterson

Description of Work: We purchased Mon-Ray storm Windows from them for noise reduction. They were the only retailer in the DC area. There were significant up charges to have them install Windows in Maryland. One window was installed incorrectly. They never could fix it and they blamed it on the pella window it was mounted over, but they could identify no defect in the pella window to fix. If you want to have a product installed that only they have there are no other options! If we needed these storms again we might have to go with them again.

This project was done in June of 2010. There was a service call performed in 2011. We have not heard, nor has the factory, of any problems since then. Yes we have a minimum labor charge for all jobs and it is higher in Maryland and DC. Our warehouse is in VA and our installers lose a fair amount of time going to and from Maryland and DC so we have a higher minimum there. We sold and installed 8 Mon-Ray high performance secondary acoustical windows with 1/4" laminated glass on the exterior of aluminum clad Pella windows. The profile of the Pella aluminum made for a difficult install of the secondary storms. The secondary windows with heavy 1/4" glass are never an easy installation but the density of the glass is very helpful in reducing sound. Yes we are the only dealer in this market. This product is unique and can be used in many situations that most window companies just don't deal with. IE, we sold and installed the big brother of these with 1/2" laminated glass on the interior of the EPA administrators office plus her deputy and chief of staff. Some of these were 15' tall and we had to work within Federal historic specifications. As always we appreciate member comments and the opportunity to reply to them. Tom Patterson

Description of Work: Ordered replacement for Garden Window in Kitchen. |Struck the wall so strongly while removing old window that Crystal wine glasses fell off rack and broke. This after I asked if I needed to move anything more from the work area. |Did not offer to replace the 2 glasses. (Reidel} |The order was to substantially replace the original window, three shelves, vents, etc. The shelves supplied were only 8" deep, not deep enough to hold my big plant pots, I was told that we only specified 3 shelves, not the depth. |Work was finished, clean up was neat, but when I tried to open kitchen drawer it was blocked by window molding. Previous window did not have molding. I called right away and the installer returned, determined that a different style of molding was needed and said he would be back the next day. He was replaced the molding, said he couldn't do anything about changing the shelves. So I had to order and pay for new glass and brackets.

We are sending a $50.00 gift certificate to compensate for the broken glass. The factory does not offer any deeper shelves for garden windows. That information is not clear on their web site or brochure. However or showroom display has shelves installed on it and they are only 8" deep. We are sorry for any confusion but the question had not come up prior to the installation or we would have pointed it out. Thanks for your posting. This helps us do a better job in the future. Description of Work: Replaced the main entrance doorway. Took longer than indicated. Had to come back the next day to finish. Company apologized, used a novice installer who wasn't that versatile. Event occurred in 2010, so this data is out of date.

Description of Work: We ordered several fiberglass Marvin windows and two Previa doors. Installations was done timely and well. When I was not completely happy with the style of the front door, they were very accommodating to get the door window upgraded to meet my request. They were prompt, courteous and professional. We would use them again.
