Jacob began trapping as a young man growing up in the Tidewater area of Virginia and after serving 10 years in the US Army he moved to the Northern Virginia area where for the last 8 years he worked as a wildlife control specialist dealing with everything from snakes to bats and flying squirrels to beavers. Jacob has removed animals and performed exclusion work at apartment complexes, historic houses, restaurants and golf courses from Fredericksburg to Prince Georges County, MD, Washington, DC and from Alexandria to Manassas. I recently started servicing Montgomery and Howard Counties too!

Animal removal & exclusion, feces cleanup. Minor handyman work
It took several weeks due to the crafty nature of raccoons and the uncooperative weather in having to go up on the rooftop, but Jacob worked wonders in evicting a mother raccoon and her babies from my attic. He was able to seal off and repair entry/exit point, and reinforce other possible entry points to prevent a reoccurrance by future wildlife. Jacob did an EXCELLENT job, was a pleasure to work with, was readily available to answer all of my questions and address my concerns, and is a fair and honest businessman. I highly recommend him and would use Destination Wildlife Control again without hesitation.
Description of Work: I suspected one or more raccoons in my attic space. Jacob (owner) came and did an inspection, verified entry via rooftop attic fan went, then entered attic and saw evidence inside attic.

We had bats living between the attic screen and exterior louvers of the gable vent in the rear of our home. I can't say enough good things about Jacob. He called when he said he would, showed up when he said he would, and completed the job in a neat and workmanlike manner. He shared a video of the removal made with his helmet cam and was kind enough to pose with the bats as I took pics. He is pleasant, efficient, and knowledgeable. He gives a three year warranty on his work. His price was extremely reasonable and his professionalism without par. I strongly recommend using Destination Wildlife Control. Thank you Jacob!

I call him the "squirrel whisperer." He answered the phone himself. He arrived when he said he would. He explained all and took photos of what I couldn't see. He even reassured me that the small hole the little critters carved through to my bedroom ceiling would likely "go no further." (He said they cut small holes like that to add heat in the attic for their nest - Smart little buggers!) I couldn't have asked for a better animal removal person -- and home repair person to make sure they don't come back!
Description of Work: He removed squirrels and sealed several holes as well as installed a metal brace to keep them out. He came every day for a week to make sure they were gone.

They clearly knew their animal's tastes and habits. it took about 10 days to get the entire family. They added the extra days beyond the first week's contract at a very reasonable extra price. I do wish they had been more upfront about the DC law that requires animal removed from homes to be exterminated because of potential rabies. I was initially advised, when I asked where the animals were taken, that they would be taken to Virginia. I assumed they were released and that assumption was not corrected. I should have asked for an explicit yes or no. However, I had seen rabies-related behavior in more than one of the raccoons which is why I decided to have them removed by a private contractor. DC Animal Control will not remove animals until they see signs of rabies. They have an officer on night duty who looked over the back fence to see if they could spot a raccoon/s and monitor behavior. However, the likelihood of the officer and the raccoon being within sight is very slim. I do understand that moving potentially rabid animals from one part of the region to another doesn't make any sense. Sadly, the only solution seems to be extermination as the District Animal Control will not capture and test animals living on private property (unless they have evaluated rabid behavior) leaving the owner responsible for monitoring animal behavior and ensuring the safety of those who live and visit their home.

I called Jacob on a Monday morning and he said he would come out the next day to set a trap. He arrived on time and determined that the raccoons were not living under our deck. He set a trap for them using marshmallows. They had been frequenting our bird feeders and bird bath for a week when we called him to come out. We took down the bird feeders so they would be more inclined to enter the trap and eat the marshmallows. The first night we caught nothing. The second night we caught nothing. And the third night we caught nothing so Jacob removed the trap. He said he would return if the raccoons returned. He also charges a fee of $100 to remove the animals but since we didn't catch any, we didn't have to pay the additional $100.

Our grandchildren found a dead deer in the front flowerbed this morning. I call Fairfax County non-emergency line and was informed that dead animal removal was the home owner's responsibility. I searched Angie's list tried one other company listed, but they did not remove dead animals. I called Destination Wildlife Control, and let a message at 11:05 AM. Jacob returned my call at 11:10 AM. He advised me that one of his team was in Springfield and could come over in about 1 hour if I could e-mail my name, address and phone number since he was driving. I e-mailed the information. At 11:58 AM the team member called and advise that he had the address and would arrive in about 20 minutes. By 12:30 PM the dead deer was removed, the bill was paid, and the team member was on his way. NOW THIS IS WHAT YOU CALL " SERVICE".

PERFECTLY! Woke up the morning of July 4th to discover, for the third time in as many weeks, what clearly sounded like a bird trapped somewhere near the fireplace firebox, beneath and behind the stairs in my basement. Having dealt with two small brown birds flying around inside my house twice in the previous two weeks and at my wits end on how they were getting in, AND having been told by a chimney sweep they couldn't possibly be coming in through the chimney, I did my Angie's list research and immediately contacted Destination Wildlife Control -- on the morning of the 4th of July. Jacob couldn't have been more pleasant and assured me it was not a problem to have called him on a holiday. He told me he was pretty confident they were getting in through the gap between the inner and outer chimney duct work and would call me later that night to set up an appointment for the next day. At 9 PM the night of the 4th he called and told me he would be at my house between 8 and 9 AM the following morning. He arrived promptly, immediately went to the basement, crawled back under the stairs, and within five minutes had captured the little brown bird. We released the bird to the great outdoors and then Jacob showed me a photo he had taken of the top of the firebox, indicating the gap where they were gaining access to the basement. Next step: put his ladder up against the house, climbed on the roof, installed fine screening to seal the gap, snapped a picture with his smart phone and the deed was done. The peace of mind he has given me -- no more awakening to find a sparrow flying around my kitchen -- cannot be measured! I want to shout to my neighbors from the rooftop: check the top of your chimney. Chances are you have the exact same gap I had and it's simply a matter of time before you awake to find a small brown bird in your kitchen. When that happens, call Destination Wildlife Control immediately!

It was a situation where a smell started to be emitted from my attic crawl space and I figured it was most likely a dead squirrel. The service provided by the owner (Jacob) was excellent. He was extremely customer oriented, prompt and quick to respond, knowledgeable/expert in his service. The service was performed the same day I contacted him and with ease. He even took videos while repairing the roof to document it and show me on the ground. I would highly recommend him to others and use him again.

I made contact with this company late on a Friday night, after I was not able to solve the problem with a live bird trapped in my stove vent hood. The noise was horrible and would not stop. My contact with the owner, Jacob, was via a phone message. He returned call within minutes. He made arrangments to be at my house on a Saturday morning at 7:15 am, without an excuse. Jacob Hepfront with his pricing, and expectations. He arrived on time, was professional in his appraisal of the situation, had all of the equipment, tools and supplies to correct the situation and was expeditious in getting it all done. His work was thorough and the clean up of my home was meticulous. Jacob also provided a discount for using Angie's list, a pleasant surprise I was not expecting. He made a bad situation, a true relief.

We had an unidentified critter eat a hole through our basement wall. Called Destination and they happened to be nearby and came within 10 minutes! They located and sealed the entry point and inspected an attic over my garage at my request. Didn't charge the normal extra fee for plugging the hole, probably because they were able to find it quickly and didn't need to spend a lot of time. Professional and polite, and did everything as promised.

Took a few weeks. Only reason I downgraded the price, was because the bills were broken into two parts, the initial trapping ($250.) and final repair ($175), but the Angies List 10% coupon was only applied to the second part. Make sure up front, after the charges are provided that you confirm the application of the AngiesList coupon to the total bill.
Description of Work: Had scratching noises coming from an area between the roof an upper level of my house. Thought it was perhaps a racoon, but turned out to be a squirrel that was able to enter from the roof because of incompetent flashing installation about five years ago. Jakob trapped it (releasing it elsewhere) and then sealed the loose flashing.

I was convinced we had raccoons in the attic because of the bumping sound (not scampering). Jacob determined that the animals were flying squirrels (that were bumping against the walls and roof when they glided about the attic). He found the space where they were entering the attic. He set traps for them and returned every two days over a two week period to retrieve the caught animals, which he removed. Finally, when the colony was removed (6 squirrels), he installed hardware cloth over three air vents into the attic. It was all very professionally done, and I was very pleased with their work. Jacob and his staff were very knowledgable about the whole topic.

We were very impressed with the professionalism. They were very polite and wanted to ensure they had removed all of our "visitors" before sealing up the attic. The traps were originally set on a Wednesday and they were willing to come back every other day to check the traps or we could call them if we heard something. Because of our work schedules we opted to call them if we heard anything. Fortunately after five days we didn't here anything else and Scott and Ross came back on Monday to removed the traps and beginning sealing the access point the flying squirrels had used as well as a couple of other potential entry points. Jacob called each night before he or Ross came out to ensure our availability and he was more than willing to work around our schedule.
Description of Work: We first noticed a noise in the attic on Tuesday before Thanksgiving. The next night it was apparent by the constant scratching throughout the night that something was in the attic. My husband checked Angie's List and chose Destination Wildlife because of their excellent reviews. They promptly called us after we left a message. Jacob and Ross both came out and went through the entire attic and roof to determine if an animal was in the attic and if so, how possible entry points. It appeared there were flying squirrels in the attic. The next day Ross set out traps in the attic and removed a flying squirrel that became stuck in a wall and died. He did a remarkable job patching the holes in the wall he had to make to find and remove the flying squirrel. Jacob and Scott came out a couple of days later to check the traps. Having not found anything in the traps they went about sealing up entry points to include screwing down the roof ridge vent, and using sheet metal to seal a small hole where the flying squirrels were coming in. They also sealed around the attic exhaust fan with wire screen and sealed around the corners of the garage roof with sheet metal.

Jacob was great. They arrived the first day and went in the attic where I was hearing the critters. They set traps and returned every day until they were removed. At some point they moved into the basement and more traps had to be set. They came back every day for a week until the critters were captured and removed. They set up a barrier in the attic and capped the old stack to keep them out in the future. Great work and reasonably priced.

We awoke early in the morning to sounds in our attic, which turned out to be raccoon which had let itself in through the attic ventilation fan. Not wanting to tangle with an adult raccoon in an enclosed space, and because our county doesn't remove animals from attics, we called in the professionals. Jacob answered the phone shortly after 7am, just when his hours indicated he was open for business, and slotted us in for a visit later that morning, sometime between 9:30 and 10:30. Sure enough, he arrived at about 9:50. We climbed up into the attic to see if the raccoon was still present--it didn't appear to be. Jacob showed me exactly how the raccoon had torn open the cheap barrier that was installed along with the attic fan, and removed the bit that was left. He then inspected the attic thoroughly to see if there was any evidence it had hidden itself. After this, he went up on the roof and installed a new, sturdier barrier over the vent fan as well as a trap to capture the raccoon in the event that it WAS hiding in the attic, or that it decided it wanted to pay a return visit. He checked the trap over the next few days, and finding no raccoon, we concluded it wasn't coming back. Jacob did good work, he did just what needed to be done, he was friendly and he was fast. In the event that we have another unwelcome animal guest, he's getting the call.
Description of Work: Jacob, the owner of Destination Wildlife Control, inspected our attic for the raccoon as well as any droppings, left a trap in case the animal was still in our attic or decided to return, and installed a new barrier to prevent future entry.
