Jacob began trapping as a young man growing up in the Tidewater area of Virginia and after serving 10 years in the US Army he moved to the Northern Virginia area where for the last 8 years he worked as a wildlife control specialist dealing with everything from snakes to bats and flying squirrels to beavers. Jacob has removed animals and performed exclusion work at apartment complexes, historic houses, restaurants and golf courses from Fredericksburg to Prince Georges County, MD, Washington, DC and from Alexandria to Manassas. I recently started servicing Montgomery and Howard Counties too!

Description of Work: I believed that I had some type of animal)S) n my attic. Jacob and his son came out, did a thorough inspection of the outside and then went up into the attic. They concluded that the sounds I was hearing were squirrels or large birds on the roof and there were not nests or holes to indicate that there were animals inside the attic.

He is a very busy person. I called him and I left him a voice message to have him schedule work for me. He didn't respond until a day later. He did apologize because he was so busy trapping all day and didn't have time to pick up the phone. He does return my phone calls. He followed up with us on a time to come out here and trap the animal. I understand because he is the only one who works for himself. He does not have an assistant. He is very a good expert. I tried to trap the squirrel myself for a month. I bought a squirrel trapper and read the internet on what to do. I bought nuts and put them the trapper, and the squirrel never went in. She was very smart and clever. I discovered that the ceiling in my bedroom had a whole that kept getting bigger and bigger. When he came out he said I had a whole from the outside into the inside. He went all the way into the attic and went directly to the hole. He had me stand by the outside hole while he stayed in the attic. He chased the mommy squirrel out of the attic. He got three little baby squirrels from the hole in the ceiling. He said he was going to take them to a county animal rehab. He made sure they would have food and then be released back into the woods. He was very smart to get the mommy squirrel out first then go get the babies. He is going to come back this week to set the traps to catch the mommy. He got the babies out and the mommy is still active in the attic. I'm sure she is upset about it. Until we know the mommy is gone and trapped, then we can cover the hole. He explained to me why they made the hole in the ceiling because they wanted to get some of the cool air up in the attic. He was very good at explaining everything to me because I had never experienced a squirrel in my house before. Since I found Angie's List, I happen to know things to do in the house. You never know what unexpected things will happen. I never thought a squirrel would go up in the attic and bother me. Finally I will get some piece of mind that we still have to trap mom and hopefully it will be done quickly, then we can cover the hole, and no more will come in. He also trapped a raccoon at my brother in law's house. He also has Angie's List, so now my whole family are members of Angie's List. He did a good job at my brother in law's house. He charges on how big the animals is and how many times he has to come back and trap it. I think the price is reasonable. He is very understanding about the animal's behavior. He trapped the babies very quickly. It was within five minutes. He might have to improve on following up on phone calls. It's not fair to rate his punctuality because he might be delayed at another home trapping an animal. He is pretty good at trapping animals.

He was a hoot. He was actually quite good. He came when he said he was going to. He was an amusing fella. It all worked nicely. He was very expensive, but they all are. He also gave me a discount because my husband is a veteran, so he gives a military discount. He did a good job. It took about an hour and half. He also had to cut a whole in the drywall, so he then patched and repaired the drywall, which other people don't do. That was something that made me go with him too, because he actually patched it over, while other people would've left a hole. He did a great job with that.

Four years ago squirrels took up residence in the soffit of my screened-in porch. They discovered that the padding on my furniture made lovely nesting material and chewed through all four chair pads. Banging on the door didn't bother them; I purchased "Squirrel-Away" but that didn't help; I hired a company to get rid of them and they trapped seven squirrels and considered it a job well done. The little rascals came back. I had given up using the porch when I found Jacob. He not only got rid of the squirrels, but covered the soffit with wire and other material that prevented their chewing through to make another nest. They do come back and try to get in, but thanks to Jacob, they stay a while and go back to the woods. I'm grateful to Jacob and happy that next summer I'll be able to enjoy my porch again. His motto is "If it's bigger than a bug or smaller than a deer, we can help!" Thanks Jacob.

This guys is really great and knows his stuff. I had a squirrel family that had embedded itself into an exterior part of the house (basically a built out part of the eve that was technically part of the house but also not technically in the house). He was able to quickly remove the squirrel family and placed the babies in a shoe box. My only complaint is that he left the baby squirrels in the shoe box for mom to come back but she never did. So then I had a shoe box full of dead squirrels I had to remove but was super squeamish about doing so. (Note: they are still dead and decomposing). Total cost (including deal) was 450 which included a sheet metal barrier over the point of entry. The price seemed fair to me and I really like the MT.

I requested information on a Saturday and received an email over the weekend requesting additional information about my bird issue. Monday a representative called and scheduled the service for Thursday of that week. Jacob arrived and completed the work in the time frame estimated. He was professional and very nice. The vent is now clear and he installed a cover so the birds cannot get back into the vent from outside. The actual cost was less then the initial estimate provided earlier in the week.

This company was fantastic. We had a large, unfortunate deer who had tangled itself hopelessly in our fence and passed from the trauma. The deer was so mangled and jammed in there, I had no ideas on getting it out. We have three small children, and we certainly couldn't have the rotting carcass attracting other larger animals. We called Jacob that night, and he promised to be there the next day and quoted us a price. The next day, he was there, got the job done, charged us the price he had quoted us the night before, and was on his way - with little sign of the mess that had been there the night before. Overall great experience!

A bird died in one of my exhaust vents, prompting me to find Jacob on Angie's List. He was responsive and informative from our first conversation and worked to squeeze me into his busy schedule within a few days. He and his son worked quickly to remove the nesting material (there was so much!) from all my exhaust vents and covered them with hardware cloth to prevent birds/pests from re-entering. Because one of the vents didn't have debris, he charged me only to cover it vs. the full cleaning and covering fee and he readily honored the AL discount coupon. Less than one day after, birds appear to be staying away.

I have tried two pest control companies that cost me a lot of money and time. Then I took matters into my own hands and tried every technique I found on the Internet. My squirrel was invincible and I had lost peace and sleep over this little squirrel in my attic. He had a baby in my attic. His entry hole was sealed twice and he made new holes to get back inside. Then by divine intervention, I must say I ran into Jacob. He is hands down the best in this profession. Thousand times better than your usual pest control companies. Connors Pest Control is the worst of them all in dealing with squirrels. Come to think of it, Connors was pretty bad with their service and effectiveness with everything they did at my house. Jacob showed up and used his ingenious methods and got my squirrel, his baby, father squirrel. If you have a wild life containment problem, call him before you call anyone else if you want to save your money, stress and time. The best in the business. I can't say this enough. He is friendly, personable, explains, answers your questions, and he bets all of his reputation on the quality of the work he does. The only thing I worry about is him retiring.

Excellent!!! Highly Recommend!!! Jacob the Master Trapper was very professional and very good at communicating when he would arrive. Within five minutes of arriving he came down from the attic having removed three babies. His job was made difficult when the mother was too stubborn to leave. Soon we found out why - she was protecting a fourth baby in a different part of the attic. Jacob was successful in getting the mother to leave then removed the baby. He then sealed the hole into the attic the raccoon had created. Can't imagine a better Master Trapper than Jacob!

After several months of having flying squirrels getting into our house, we were at our wits end because we had blocked every opening we could but they still were getting in. I suspected they were getting in through the chimney so he inspected our three fireplaces and found a crack that was allowing a squirrel to enter. He blocked off the opening with wire and then inspected the roof and found a hole that led to the interior of my fireplace where a whole colony of squirrels had set up shop. He patiently worked over a week, coming back each day to check the traps he set, dispose of the animals and reset the traps. After catching at least 7 squirrels and when he was sure the nest was empty he covered it with wire so no more could enter before I got the fireplace repaired. I am very grateful to Jacob for his hard work and finally solving a problem that had been plaguing us for months.

Response from The Master Trapper Inc
Thanks! I must admit, this was probably one of my most difficult, if not THE most difficult removal jobs I've ever had! I myself may have given up had Mrs. [Member Name Removed] not been persistent that the squirrels were coming through the fireplace. Imagine my surprise when I found the hole on the top edge of the inside of the fireplace. Even more surprising was that I caught so many flying squirrels on top of the chimney right by the hole in the mortar! Again, thanks for being patient with me and giving me the opportunity to get a bit more knowledge of where animals can go...

Master Trapper aka Jacob was wonderful. We called him early on a Friday and told him we thought there was something going on in the attic. He said he had a job not too far away and that he would be by before noon. He was good to his word. He called us about 20 minutes before he arrived. He got to our house and went straight to the attic where he found evidence of a raccoon. He removed the evidence and toured the attic to see if other animals were still present. Jacob determined that the raccoon was coming in through the attic fan, where the raccoon had pried away fencing. Jacob, fixed the attic fan so that if any animals were still up in the attic they could escape but no new animals could enter. He said he would return on Monday and if there was no further evidence animals he would finish closing the fencing around the fan. True to his word, he returned timely on Monday. Back into the attic. No evidence animals he finished closing off the attic fan entrance. He was great. He took videos of all the work he did and showed us. He was able to forward all receipts via his computer. Provided the Angie's List discount. I would recommend Master Trapper Jacob to anyone who thinks or knows they have evidence of unwanted animals in their house.

Neighbors alerted us that they had seen a raccoon, or perhaps two, climbing out of our chimney. We called Jacob that day, since raccoons can cause lots of problems. We are very pleased with his quick response to our problem and will definitely call him again if needed. We discussed the problem with him over the phone. He was very knowledgeable about raccoons AND chimneys, He told us exactly what needed to be done to resolve the problem and made an appointment to come by the next day to address the situation. He arrived promptly the next day as scheduled. He had ladders, computers, lighting, cameras and traps. He let us know every step along the way what was happening. Clearly, he had experience with raccoons and knew exactly how to proceed. He first looked down the chimney and observed a couple of young raccoons together inside. He then went inside the house to the fireplace opening. The fireplace damper was closed, so thankfully, the raccoons had not accessed the house! He gently removed three juvenile raccoons which he released later in our backyard where their mother will easily find them. The little guys were REALLY noisy when they were removed from of their nest, so they shouldn't have any trouble calling out for their mother. Next he placed a stainless steel chimney cap (screen) on the chimney flu so the critters could not re-enter the chimney. The missing chimney cap had caused the problem by giving them any entry into the chimney. Everything went very smoothly. We have learned from this experience to check the chimney to make sure you have a chimney cap in place that is in good condition to keep all the critters OUT! Chimney caps are relatively cheap, easy to install and prevent big problems from occurring later.

First and foremost I highly recommend Jacob the Master Trapper for excellent service which was beyond my highest expectations. He is prompt in calling back keeping in touch with his customers and a big plus to me in rating his performance. Jacob provides quality service and a good price. I had tried another trapper last year and was not completely satisfied with their pricing or the amount of time they left the trap to capture the groundhogs. Jacob was completely the opposite in trapping the groundhogs and a bonus trap of the raccoon. I will certainly call Jacob again for any future problem to service. If you have an animal problem make sure you call Jacob The Master Trapper.

The Master Trapper is a great guy! Found his name on Angie's List and gave him a call to see about a problem we'd been having with the house. He was actually able to resolve my issue just by talking it over with me and not have to come out. He returned my call promptly and was so nice and helpful, and HONEST! I'm sure I'll be having him out soon given our neighborhood is overrun by bunnies, chipmunks, foxes, squirrels, and every bird ever. :) Thank you for being honest and helping me out!

Called "The Master Trapper" and spoke to owner Jacob yesterday at 3pm. As he was driving, Jacob said he would call me back later that evening. Happily/Suprisingly he did return the call! Agreed to come to my townhouse the next morning. Arrive about 8:30am today and did indeed find a dead bird in the outside vent. Because the smell was so bad in the bathroom Jacob worried that another bird may have died farther down the vent. So he took the bathroom vent hood off and double checked. No additional "deceased" were found. Jacob also attached screens to all three exterior vents to prevent future visitors. Took about 90 minutes. Well worth the money and will recommend "The Master Trapper" (new name) to all family and friends.
