The Maids of Fairfax

The maids came to my house and seemingly did not do anything. The window sills we still filthy, the stairs were not cleaned. In between doors were still dirty, multiple parts of the house were not touched. I was not aware that I had to take the time out of my day to monitor the cleaning services. I was promised a "deep cleaning" for the ridiculous price of $400. Not only did I not get anywhere close to a deep cleaning of the the house. I then expressed my concerns to customer service and they reassured that they would send another team to my house the following week and not charge me until the job was completed correctly. That was a lie. My house was never cleaned the way the described it, they lied about charging my credit card and they believe that inconveniencing my time once again to make sure they do a cleaning job right the second time is an acceptable compromise. It isn't. For context I asked them to clean a house that I was going to move into as I believe it's normal to want to move into a clean place so I'm extremely disappointed that I'll have to live and wait for another week just for them to do the job I wanted them to do the first time. I would absolutely NEVER reccomend this cleaning service to anyone. The cleaning itself was absolutely bare minimum effort and the price they charge to reflect the job I can only describe as a scam. Do NOT hire the maids and hire this service.

They do the kitchen, bathrooms, and do some vacuuming. It's not a whole house cleaning. They bring 3-4 people and costs $85.00 each time. I think the price is fair.

we have had The Maids as our cleaning service for about 3 years. They do a very thorough and excellent job and I'm always very satisfied with the results. I notice details like baseboards and they're all cleaned, every time. The Maids might not be the lowest cost cleaning service, but they're an excellent value for a job well done.

The same team of 4 arrives on time and completes the work efficiently and proficiently.

Overall the service is very good. The crew of 3 or 4 personnel finishes their work within one hour, which is important to me since I'm at home when they work, and all are good with my two golden retrievers. On occasion, when I've been dissatisfied with something and mentioned it to the team leader, the leader noted the issue and ensured it did not occur in future cleanings. The company is very responsive to schedule changes. Again, overall I'm very happy with the quality of their work, their followup, and their management.

We couldn't have been happier with the quality of The Maids' services. They did a great job of cleaning every item/area they promise in their ads and were happy to change sheets on beds if clean sheets were left out for them. It was a pleasure to return home to a professionally cleaned home, and in all the years they cleaned, we have nothing but compliments for the work they did. They always showed up very close to the time they promised, happily went to work and were almost always finished in one hour. Of the four women who did the work, there was always a supervisor who spoke very good English and we were able to communicate easily. When I requested a change in timing or a special service from the administrative office, they were always happy to honor my request and the change was easily made. We never once had anything broken, ruined, lost or stolen. My one complaint, and especially my husband's, was the price of the service. Their price seemed high in comparison with other cleaning companies and individuals. We have a lower priced company cleaning for us now who charge less for three levels than The Maids did for two. Had it not been for the price, we'd still be using them today. I still continue to admire their work and recommend them highly for quality and reliability.

The Maids team members are almost invariably professional, personable and very hard working. They are all around very nice people. Robert,chief contact at The Maids is always polite, patient and accomodating as possible. When we put up my parents' house for |sale, Robert scheduled at my request a |special team for final cleaning before the house went on the market and the team |was great. I only rated the quality as B rather than A because different teams are occasionally sent and only occasionally has some aspect of the work been a little amiss,usually re not dusting something if they are a new team and not familiar with our home. I wish Angie's had an A- or B+ rating for thesr circumstances. I'll say A- in these cases because it's always a small mistake. If you ewant very particular and different work done each time ypur home is cleaned,this service obviously would not be for you. If you want very good and predictable routine cleaning, with exceptional work in the kitchen, bathrooms and vacuuming, with very personable pleasant staff, you will appreciate The Maids. Your home will look and smell so clean when they are done. Great before expecting compny,too!

Have been using them for the past 15 years. They usually assign a team to you that gets to know exactly how you want your house cleaned. They have been very good except for a couple years ago the team I had was not very good. For my 15 years I have had them my teams were good every time except once. Even my mother-in-law has commented on the fact that they do not skimp in any way. Pulling up rugs to clean under them and getting all the corners. Always smiling and working hard. The part I like the best is that since there are 4 of them they are done quickly and the job is thorough. This way I can get back to doing the other important things in my life.

1.Our house was not dusty/dirty to the extent it would take a team of 4 professionals three hours to clean. We asked for them to please provide a detailed breakdown of what each person did during those 3 hours. We asked for this, but never received it. 2. Yes, my wife was called and told that it would take more time than the initial estimate. She was only provided another estimate. Unclear communication led to final bill almost double the initial estimate. 3. For the original quote, we would have been ok with the service provided. However, for the price charged, the level of service was not acceptable. 4. Let's just say the customer service provided to my wife left a lot to be desired, and made us feel as if we were victims of a scam. We have a current active database of over 1000 customers who will attest to not only our quality but also our ethics and fairness. This customer contacted The Maids to set up a cleaning in her home. She was quoted at 1 1/2 - 1 3/4 hours with a team of 4 at a rate of $152.00 / hour and billed by the quarter hour. When our team was there and cleaning the supevisor informed our office that they would need sufficiently more time to finish the cleaning as the house was very dusty / dirty. We called the customer and let her know the situation and that it would take an additional hour. She understood, agreed and authorized the extra hour. Let me repeat this ... She understood, agreed and authorized the extra hour! She then called later upset about the price and said that she just assumed it would be around $300.00 but as I told her that 1 3/4 hours is 266.00 and the additional hour needed that again was authorized by her would be an additional $152.00 so $266.00 plus $152.00 equals $418.00. She told me that they did a good job and she was happy with the cleaning except that certain things and pictures were not put back properly. I told her I would be happy to send someone back to straighten her home and fix anything she was unhappy with. I personally spoke to this customer and I certainly did not treat her like dirt. I explained to her exactly what happened and offered to come back and rectify anything they disliked. I never spoke to the person who actually wrote this review. Plain and Simple, this review should be considered libel. They have decided to take this to Yelp because they "assumed" something and when they assumed wrong they were upset. I noticed it the same day they cleaned, they agreed to come out and look at it, and then Robert over the phone denied that the cleaning staff had done it and offered no recourse whatsoever - just flat out said that their cleaning equipment doesn't cause scratches. I suggested a pebble or something got picked up on the rag while cleaning, and he did not acknowledge this was a possibility. He was rude, and said his staff didn't do it, period, no further solution. I understand these things can happen while cleaning and I was not asking for anything in return - but to flat out deny that this could have happened and to offer nothing at all - not even $5 off the next service is poor customer service. While I would have forgiven what had happened and continued using the service, the way Robert handled it ensures that I will never use them again. If something more serious had happened, been broken, etc., I know see how they handle incidents and it's unacceptable and a risk I'm not willing to take.

.I use The Maids of Fairfax two weeks ago. They were very thorough. They came in two day notice. They are doing general house cleaning. Last time they did a final clean. We were moving out.

The actual cleaning that my team provides is excellent. The house looks and smells wonderful when I return home. They do a very good job of regularly vacuuming things like Venetian blinds, baseboards, as well as the usual floors, rugs and carpets. The kitchen and bathrooms are spotless when they leave. The furniture is well oiled and dusted. The office staff is very responsive also. My only complaint is that the cleaning ladies do not understand the complexities of my house: (1) I have ceiling fans that are programmed, and when the maids turn off and on the light switches, they turn off the entire power switch rather than just the light switch. That unprograms the entire fan and overhead light. So when later I go to turn on the lights or the fans, the switch doesn't work, and I have to reprogram the switch. This is true for all 3 bedrooms. I have left signs (in Spanish) and explained things several times, and they don't get it. (2) They must use dust cloths to dust computers, clock radios, television sets, using pressure which turns off these digital appliances. Routinely the Verizon box has been turned off at the t.v. and we have to re-set it. We have told them not to TOUCH my husband's computer, because every time they would clean it, they would do something to the switches that would cause the computer not to work. (3) They occasionally leave lights on when they leave. This is not normally a problem, but when we are out of town I always alert the main office staff to that fact so that they are extra careful to turn off the lights when leaving. (4) They do not understand timer switches or wall switches that control lamps. Whenever they clean, they turn off the lamps so that when the timer switch is supposed to come on, it doesn't, and when you try to turn the lamps on by using the wall switch, the lamps have been turned off. I use them because they are nice, they go a great job cleaning, and they have never broken anything. It takes a team of four ladies about 45 minutes to clean my house. They are fairly punctual, but sometimes they are later than they are scheduled to arrive so that they are not finished when I return home.

The Maids have cleaned my 2-bedroom apartment every other week for more than a year. In general they do an excellent job. Only occasionally have there been little "slips" - a refrigerator magnet knocked to the floor and broken then replaced without them saying anything about it, a tray knocked down and falling behind the stove - this time, they told me about it, items not always returned to the same place after dusting - lights left on in the walk-in closet. But overall, I've been extremely happy with their service. Their cleaning (which is what I'm actually paying for) always appears to be thorough, they are always on time, and they manage to finish in less than 30 minutes. Also, on one occasion I was locked out of my apartment just when they arrived, and the company was very understanding - they rescheduled, and didn't charge me extra. They are good in general about accommodating scheduling changes when necessary, and on very short notice. Moreover, the management is extremely good about calling the day before cleaning is scheduled to remind me they're coming.

Very smooth - without conflicts. We love this service.

I have 0 complaints about this company. They are professional, the service is great, they are trustworthy, efficient. I enjoyed having them in my home, and I would recommend this company 100% without reservation. Their prices are very reasonable, especially in that area of NOVA I would say it's completely reasonable. I never had a bad experience with the company from start to finish.

Loved the experience. I really like the team of four ladies who came this time. They were courteous and efficient. I am excited to get the house dirty so they can come back.

While The Maids were cleaning my house, they broke one of my lights in the kitchen. They called the owner to come to my home and fix it. When the owner arrived, I tried to explain how we can fix the light and he started to yell at me in front of my young children and used profanity. He would not stop yelling so I called the police and there is a police report on file. I would never refer this company to anyone. This owner is extremely difficult to work with and very belligerent to women.

They sent four ladies that worked hard for 3 hours to clean up the first floor that had 3 rooms,kitchen & bathroom that needed dusting, vacuuming and discentfecting.. The woman worked hard and did a great job

I had hired The Maids prior to joining Angie's List and now reading other's reports, I'm not surprised that they don't score higher. Pros: The first cleaning was expensive, since it was billed on an hourly rate -BUT, the first cleaning was excellent. The team of four that came were friendly and did a terrific job (but the cleanings since that first one were never quite as good). They come with their own cleaning supplies and take all the trash with them. They are on time and arrive within the timeframe that is scheduled. The people that work in the office are responsive and will call and inquire about cleaning services if I fill out a customer service survey. Cons: This is not a cheap service. Aside from that first cleaning, the subsequent cleanings have just been OK. The last couple of cleanings I have came home and found that the kitchen counter was still crusty and not very clean. They also do tend to break things. They do tend to break things... They broke a drinking glass, a fan and my air purifier in the nursery - I was able to fix it, but it appears that when they vaccuum, they do NOT take care to make sure they are not crashing into appliances on the floor (space heaters, air purifiers, fans, etc). The cleanliness of the house also depend on what team shows up. I have noticed that certain team leaders are better than others. I don't always get the same team. I plan to try and request a specific team... hopefully that will fix things. I would recommend The Maids for maybe a one-time thorough cleaning - just be sure you are home and watching them so they don't break anything. With an infant, I have not had time to research and change the cleaning service. But now that I'm on Angie's List, I will be researching other services and switching.

They have a 24 hour cancellation policy and one time it was 23 hours when I tried to change the date and they would not switch it and told me I would be charged. After they came for that appointment I have never used them again. I had used them for 6 years before this incident ocurred. They should treat their loyal customers better.

I have been a customer of The Maids for over 6 years. I have the same team of girls come every 2 weeks. They are professional, kind and very careful with their work. If I ever have a scheduling conflict, I contact the office and get another date worked out. Rob, Donna and Amy in the office are very easy to work with. I would highly recommend The Maids to anyone.

I have been thoroughly pleased with The Maids team members who come into our home. They are pleasant, professional and focused on their work. The Maids team arrives when they are expected and always do a lovely job. It is so great to come home to a clean-looking, clean-smelling house. My expectations for housecleaning is that involving normal housecleaning tasks: dusting, vaccuuming, cleaning the bathrooms, etc. For a special cleaning request, I would contact the office staff to determine if it's feasible and at what time. The office staff is so good at responding to any inquiries. I have appreciated and enjoyed my relationship with the staff and team and would definitely recommend them to others.

I really appreciated that the Maids were able to come on a date of my choosing and with a large team of workers. For the size of the house and the work involved, the price was reasonable. There was no furniture in the house, which did make it a bit easier. Communication between the front office and my cell phone was fabulous. They cleaned the house and garage well. Where I thought I needed new bathubs because they were disgusting; the Maids made them shine and now I don't have to buy new bathtubs. There were a few places where I thought they could have been more thorough: kitchen tile, wiping cabinet faces with lemon oil, cleaning out sliding door tracks, an obscure baseboard missed.

Having used several services, we understand that none of them do a very good job, however, before beginning service with The Maids, I explained that it was important to me that my bathroom tile be cleaned all the way to the ceiling. To this end, I had previously purchased some long-armed bathroom cleaning tools, and the person who came to my home assured me that their people would use them. However, this was accomplished only sporatically over the time I used their service and then, only if I placed the cleaning tool inside the master bathroom shower stall. I am unaware that they ever used the one in the second bathroom. Dust has been a constant issue--several horizontal surfaces, like the tops of bathroom backsplashes, were almost never cleaned. After having our laminate kitchen counters replaced with soapstone, the quality of the counter-cleaning declined; I can feel foreign substances on my counters immediately after they have been cleaned. Expressions of concern have been plentiful; improvement has not been. The final straw in January, 2010 was when the perimeter of the wood floors in my living room were simply untouched--only the center of the floor was cleaned. We have been very disappointed by the quality of the service provided by The Maids franchise in Fairfax. Oh please, Maids. Soapstone is hard to clean? Soapstone is NOT like marble. It does not stain easily--I'm not sure it stains at all. (hence it's previous life as the preferred material for school science labs). Mine still has no stains. It requires no "chemicals" to clean it; it simply requires "elbow grease" and a commitment to doing the job correctly. I clean it with dishwasher soap and water, or whatever else happens to be at hand. The soapstone is dark in color. You can RARELY actually see what filth remains. But all you have to do is run your hand over it to feel if there are deposits of food still there. Yes, it does require going back over the surface, sponge or rag in hand, to feel with one hand and wipe with the other after washing. I don't find this complicated. The Maids could not master it. Trying to be fair and non-confrontational,I did not previously mention that shortly (a month or two) after having my entire kitchen remodeled, I found the kitchen cleaning person scraping my brand new smooth top electric range top with a metal spatula. The scratches remain to remind me not to trust the knowledge and professionalism of The Maids.
