The Home Depot - Fairfax

My experience was not good. They are really messed up. They are average, average, average. They screwed up and ordered two kitchens for me. Both kitchens got delivered on the same day. They are the nicest people in the world but they do not know what the h*ll they are doing. They are just a disaster. They are really nice people. They are just really screwed up. They make appointments then no one is there. They keep reminding you about appointments for an employee that is on vacation. They are not real good. They make you wait. They waste your time. They don't know the answers. They are not well trained. They tell you wrong stuff. They send you on wild goose chases. Went to three different locations in one day to try to get one vanity. You get there and it is gone. They don't have it. It turns out that they do have it, they just don't know they have it. You have to find it for them. It is a zoo, a complete zoo. I would use them again because I really do not have a choice.

It wasn't cheap. What stands out to me is the convenience.

Responsiveness is a B if I can find a person. They could have more people you could find to help you. They seem to have everything at fair prices.

It was a high grade door. They did good work. They were good, prompt and the work seems to be of high quality. They were polite and were careful not to make a mess. I appreciated that.

They did what I wanted with the most detail while staying in my budget. Cheryl Nolte was extremely friendly and professional. She really knew her stuff and brought in ideas I hadn't even thought of myself. She did finishing touches they really made a difference. She worked with my design and their sales to really get me the best deal. The managers even came down to thank me personally. They said if I had any issues or questions to call them.

We wanted our island to be changed from a bar type to a flat one. We wanted new cabinets on the side that faced the family room and they messed up on the measurements. The new cabinets were longer and he ripped out the old cabinets and had to put in new ones. The island ended up being longer than we wanted. It took them a long time and I was really disappointed. We sat down with the girl there and mapped out everything. We had to pay cash up front and we skeptical about doing that. They did not seal the back splash and we ended up having to call someone else. I would not use them again.

This store had significant problems in the past, but appear to have straightened them out.

Cheryl went over every cabinet and every inch of my space from just the map and measurements and pictures I brought. She was able to tell me what else I needed to know and decide to complete my plan. The designers there are quite busy so you really need to make an appointment, but I never felt rushed and they set up appointments for a long block of time so you can thoroughly go through the process of selection. Cheryl researched every detail to find me the best deals and upgrades for the lowest prices. This kitchen put in by my builder would have cost me over 20K, but Cheryl helped me cut it in almost half. I realize that the time of year we chose helped with the deals since most people are still vacationing in Aug instead of planning. I bought Kraft Maid cherry cabinets with a burnished finish (came free that month:) As we were about to conclude the sale, I was greeted by the manager of the department and the store manager. They were extremely polite and offered their personal cards to contact them if I had any issues. That made me feel very comfortable about my hugh purchase. One thing I did have to deal with was that when the order was placed it had to be delivered so I have to find a space for it in my (renovating) house. Cheryl helped me time it as close to the builder being ready for it as possible. It takes about 30 plus days to get it so it was tricky, but worked out in the end. When they came to deliver, the big corner piece had to come out of the box before we could fit it in the door. As my builder connected all the pieces according to Cheryl's design I realized just how much her details made a hugh difference. For example, she made sure that the shelves that would be seen were of the nicer cherry wood as well as the abuttment of cabinets being the exact size so as to have a flush seem on corners. And having her give me the idea of mounting the cabinet above the frig closer instead of deepset was brilliant. I can reach it all! The measurements were so perfect, I have about 1/2 inch on either side of my frig. After the cabinets were installed, we had to wait for the granite counter (which I ordered at another place... actually the same place H.D. would have ordered it from, but I cut out the middle man to save more money). I discovered that the corner garage would not fit right. It would fit into the spot, but the door did not go as high as I thought so I would not have been able to store my Kitchen Aid mixer inside. This was actually not evern mine or Cheryl's fault. The opening measurement the company gave was for the opening, but did not take into account that the door would hang down 2 inches. So I returned it to Home Depot and Cheryl worked with customer service to help me returned the item and give me my money back easily with no hassle. I honestly cannot tell you anything about the other designers there, but Cheryl Nolte is a true gem. After all was done my builder told me he was trying to hire her himself. I'm just sorry it took me so long to review this and give her the kudos.

I ordered on August 23rd and was told it could be delivered on the 25th. On the 24th I called to confirm and was told 1) They called me and left a voicemail that the appliances were not in stock and could not be delivered and 2) I was down for delivery on the 28th. I had no voicemail, no missed call, etc. The 28th wouldn't work, but we rescheduled for the following Saturday. Again, they did not make it. After a series of phone calls to the store and distributor I learned Home Depot was having computer issues and that they don't actually hold large appliances in stock. In the end, Home Depot managed to get us the stove and fridge, but it required us to take a day off from work - we would have pushed for the following weekend, but the new home didn't have a working fridge. I asked for 30% off for all the trouble and got 500 off instead (of an original 2070.00). Kind of weird, but worth mentioning, I got a phone call from the store when they re-ordered our appliances because there was some 20 or 30 dollar reduction in price. The sales associate wanted my credit card number to apply the credit. I don't give that information to anyone who calls me. They ended up putting it on a store gift card for me, which was fine, but the whole thing was just strange. I'll go back to Home Depot, but not for appliances.

I had to wait about 20 minutes before I found a clerk but when I did find them the person I talked to was very nice and gave me time. They had good customer service and were very helpful. They wrapped up the rug and took it out to my car so I will use them again in the future.

I spent about $6000 for their services. The material that they provided for the doors was good, but the subcontractors that they used were average. The work that they did wasn't neat. They left a mess and left things undone. They responded well. I would probably use Home Depot again, but I will make sure that I don't get the same subcontractors. I need to have them come back to take care of some things, but it's taking some time. They did damage one of the doors; so they are going to come back and take care of that.

They did an excellent job, but there were a few things they did that I didn't like. The roof doesn't leak. The aesthetics of the roof look a little funny. They put ridge vents at both ends of a large dormer, but not in the middle.

While not familiar with the process or length of time from payment of service to actual appointment and install, I was very impressed with Counter Intelligence subcontractor for Home Depot. Each installer (countertop crew and plumber to reconnect equipment)called to notifiy me 30 minutes before arriving, completed the job and even cleaned after finished. I was impressed withtheir professionalism.

The sales specialist who came to our house, Michael, was very honest and professional. He seemed very knowledgeable. It didn't even feel like he was trying to "sell" us something. He just showed us what Home Depot had to offer, answered our questions, and gave us a price. The price ended up being the second highest of all the estimates that we received. In the end, we decided not to replace the roof for another year or two. However, when the time comes we will most likely not go with Home Depot due solely to price. Overall, it was a very good experience getting the estimate.

Everything was absolutely perfect. Any problems that we had was fixed right away and the cabinets were beautiful!

It went extremelly well. Cheryl is fantastic! She knows her stuff. She helped us do what we wanted at the best price.

It did not go anywhere. It seems Home Depot employs people that neither understand customer service nor customer requirements.

The crew was fantastic. They put up plastic material to better repel any leaks and this time there were no more leaks. The roof is finally fixed and I am very pleased with this company. I would use them again and would highly recommend them.

It was a great experience from start to finish. The gentleman who came out to our house to give us a quote was outstanding - no pressure and very knowledgeable. The windows were installed within the time frame given and to a great degree of quality.

I think it was an average experience. They cut some corners on the finishing. It would depend on the job for me to consider hiring them again, I would not hire them for anything complex.

Dean worked with me to place an order for all of the items, that I needed to complete the project. He was careful to give me all available and possible discounts and advised on the type and quality of material. The team sent to do the work was very professional and did an excellent job. I have had many compliments on the appearance of the new doors and storm doors.

The Home Depot salesperson was a little cranky. It took three weeks after ordering at the store to schedule the work with the HD contractor. The contractor who installed the storm doors was thorough and knew what he was doing. He did charge me for additional materials needed for the installation.

Measuring portion went smoothly and was performed in a timely manner. Purchase of door went pretty well, although the sales person didn't go out of his way to be helpful or volunteer additional info or options - also, we were interrupted frequently by other shoppers looking for directions to various departments (the downside of working with a big-box store). Once I bought my doors, it took about 2 weeks for an installer to call, but they were able to come out that next week. Installation went pretty well - craftsmanship wasn't excellent, but was acceptable. Clean-up was pretty good, but not spotless (dust left on wood floors from where they had done some sanding). Installers were polite and fairly professional. All in all, an acceptable, but not exceptional performance.

They arrived for the measurement and installation when they said they would. The door is installed properly; however, they ripped off some of the paint and wood from the front of the house in the process.
