Unfortunately I got this Tree Service from Angie's List. He did a good job taking down and removing my White Oak Tree, broken branches from my Magnolia Tree and Tree in backyard. If your looking for someone to remove limbs and take down a tree he is fine. Cost is a little on the high side. My main problem with The Greenery is I told him that I wanted my 6 Cherry Trees shaped and I stressed what I wanted done to them. He told me what I wanted was to drop crotch the branches. I argued with him, but he said this is how you shape a tree. He also had an inexperienced guy with him doing the job. When he was done I told him this is not what I wanted. He again, insisted that this is how you Shape a Tree. Since it was February and the leaves were off the tree, he said to wait until the tree bloomed in the Spring. I did !! I was so upset when the tree bloomed that I called him and told him to come out and see for himself how awful the 6 trees looked. He did come out and said that they looked "good" in his opinion. He refused to do anything more with the trees. He had cut so much out of the middle of the trees that you could see through them. These trees were full before he got his hands on them. The SHAPE of all "6" Trees were all over the place. One Cherry Tree had one branch sticking out in the middle of the tree and this tree was located right in front of my house. This mess cost me $ 1350.00. He is the owner of the Greenery, so if you have a problem like I did....you have no other recourse to take (except Angie's List)....I had paid him in good faith that the trees would look good in the Spring. Another mistake I made. Since this happened I have had 4 Tree Services out to my house to look at my 6 Cherry Trees. All 4 Tree Services told me that you " Never" drop crotch a Cherry Tree and this was not the way to SHAPE a Tree !! If you hire him, do not let him talk you into this. I have hired a Tree Service "highly" recommended by Meadows Farms Nursery to do the job again this February, 2013. They have SHAPED my 6 Cherry Trees the way they should be shaped. They have also, shaped and pruned my 4 Bradford Pears, my Magnolia Tree and have taken down 5 Branches in the backyard from storm damage. Price for all this: $1200.00. So, you tell me if The Greenery isn't over priced ??? He charged me more ($1350) for just the 6 Cherry Trees.
Description of Work: The services performed was to: Drop Crotch 6 Cherry Trees = $1350 Removed limb from storm damage of tree in backyard = $125.00 Magnolia Tree - Remove two limbs from storm damage = $ 125.00 White Oak Tree - Take down and Remove = $300.00

We recently bought our first home, which has a good deal of landscaping and some fairly expensive trees, including 3 Japanese maples. We had no idea how to care for the landscaping and properly prune the Japanese maples, but we knew that if we did it wrong, we could kill some expensive trees. When Tom came for the estimate, I told him we had no idea what we were doing and couodn't afford to hire him to spruce up the whole yard. Given our naivete, he could have really taken advantage of us. Instead, he walked through the yard and told me what kind of trees and shrubs we had and recommended ways to do some short-term maintenance ourselves. He provided an estimate on the Japanese maples and pointed out a problematic branch on a large tree that needed to be removed and why. The estimate wasn't cheap ($750), but I think it was fair. Tom clearly knew his stuff and he assured me that he had trained workers on his team, not just someone he picked up that morning who had never done this type of work. Tom and his crew arrived right on time and worked very quickly. They did a beautiful job. Tom was nice enough to try to show my husband and I how to prune the maples, but it would take us forever to do the job and it would never look as good, so in three years, we intend to call his team again! When we have the money, we intend to have Tom back to work on a bigger project in our yard. They were prompt, professional and delivered a good service. Do I like shelling out $750? No. But if I have to, I don't mind paying someone who does a good job and isn't trying to rip me off.
Description of Work: pruning of 3 Japanese maples, removal of two large tree branches, provided advice about maintenance of some plants

Tom accomplished the tree removal very professionally and cleaned up following the work. The tree was damaged by the heavy wet snow storm that brought down so many other trees. I didn't have to wait too long even though I knew they would be extremely busy. It was long enough to get numerous offers from drive by tree service people but I had dealt with Tom before and was pleased with his work. It took quite a long time for him to get back for the stump but I wasn't in a big hurry. He took care of the stump and the roots of any size leading away from the stump. The office at The Greenery is a delight to contact.
Description of Work: Tom and his crew took down a large tree in the front yard and ground up the stump.

I needed an overgrown Cedar tree removed that was in a corner between two fences. They accomplished the task with no damage to either fence and cut the wood into small pieces since I opted for the lower price based on my removing the brush. Later I needed a diseased Maple removed from near the the driveway and called them again. They took down the tree, shredded the brush into their truck and ground out the stump. The site was very clean when they left. The certified arborist diagnosed a gypsy moth problem in the woods near my property. As a result, I contacted the county and our area has been added to the list for spraying next spring to control gypsy moth.
Description of Work: They removed two trees and ground out one stump.
