I contacted two other construction companies as well as Steadfast. Steadfast was the most responsive and reasonable of them all. They finished the deck with the date that I was hoping they would, in less than two weeks after we signed the contract. They used good quality product and their crew were very professional. I have had other construction work done in the past and never completed on time.

Every aspect of the process was handled in a very timely manner; the estimate, the drawing up of plans, securing the permit, beginning the construction and finally completing the deck before the estimated finish date. The deck builder, Skip, kept me informed of the work schedule and consulted me as needed regarding decisions about aspects of the deck/ stair construction. The workmanship of the deck is of a high quality and I am very pleased with the outcome. All of the Steadfast Construction staff that I dealt with through the whole process were professional and knowledgeable. My new deck looks great!

The carpenter was extremely hardworking and skillful. The owner told me he would be building the deck alone because his partner had been injured. While this slowed progress down a bit, we had no firm deadline, so we weren't bothered by it. He worked steadily, and was neat and pleasant. We are very pleased with the deck and our dealings with Steadfast.

I have so many good things to say about these guys! From the very first meeting with Mike (where he gave me the estimate right there - no waiting around for it to come in), to the final walk-through with Kenny everything went so smooth. Everyone I dealt with was professional, courteous, super knowledgeable and friendly. Mirko (the actual builder) helped me with decisions along the way - that advice turned out to be invaluable. They did the job swiftly and it looks beautiful. Their price was fair and never changed around. I couldn't be happier. I would absolutely recommend them and will certainly use them again in the future.

Great company to work with. This project was started in late November as the weather started turning and Kenny and his crew were out here daily working in the extreme cold. When we had the first snowstorm in December they showed up with shovels and a snowblower to clear a path to the site so they could continue working! We are very pleased with our deck and porch and have had a lot of neighbors stop and asked who built it. I would definitely recommend Steadfast to anyone..

- July 1st was my estimate appointment with Steadfast Construction. Mike came out and was a very nice, professional gentleman. - July 6th I hadn't received my quote yet, so I wrote an email asking if they had been able to crunch the numbers yet? That day, Mike called me and gave me the information I was looking for. The pricing was good. - July 8th my wife and I considered all companies that we had received estimates from. Steadfast was one of the three SERIOUS competitors for our business. In the end, it came down to a pro's and con's list that my wife and I created for the top 3, and Steadfast did not end up getting our business. This is NOT to say they are not a great company, though. It was a VERY tough decision...they were neck and neck with the other two companies on our Top 3 list. From everything I witnessed, personally, I would definitely recommend Steadfast to anyone considering a deck. Their ratings are great: BBB B+ Member. They've been in business for over 10 years. They are a local company (Fairfax), AND they have an A rating with Angie's List in addition to having received the Super Service Award for 2009. Although they did not win our business this time, this is not to say they will not win it in the future. I was very satisfied all the way around with their punctuality, professionalism, pricing structure and especially responsiveness. I wish your company the very best in all your future endeavors and thanks for providing the estimate to us as well as your continued correspondence with us through it all.

We found another company to build the deck and we will be spending over $10000.00 with them.

Steadfast did an excellent job from bid through completion. We had some unexpected issues with wood rot in some structural posts. Steadfast fixed it at minimal cost (charging only time and materials). Kenny(the owner) was very responsive.

The company build a deck and screened in porch off of our dining room. We went over the specifications of the project beforehand and the company was great at helping us decide what would work in the area. The company was here everyday working diligently and the owner was accessible by phone. The owner came over frequently to check on the job to make sure it was progressing and being done in accordance with our satisfaction. When we wanted something changed, the company was accommodating and performed the work. We are very happy with the work performed.

I thought they were good and the quote was in line with everyone else. I didn?t go with them because I decided to save up more money and get a screened in porch instead.

Very professional consultation, gave estimate on-site. Pricing was reasonable.

Ken and Mike at the Steadfast office are polite, punctual and diplomatic. They charged the price quoted, except for the add-ons which were my decision and offered a fair and sound price. The estimate was on time and included everything that I asked for. They accommodated my time frame and started when they said they would, November 2009. They estimated 4-5 weeks and due to foul winter weather and holidays all construction was complete the first week of Jan. '10. The sunroom floor was finished in March due to cold weather and product requirements, although we were using the room as soon as it was finished and didn't find it an inconvenience to finish the floors at a later date-gave me time to decide on a color. The severe weather gave us a chance to check the soundness of our new room and roof (with 3 ft of snow and ice dams) and happy to report that all went well. Steadfast did a great job and my carpenter, Matt, was at my door every morning at 7:30. Matt did beautiful work and accommodated my wishes and changes as I am a very picky client. This was my first experience hiring for a job this size ( I interviewed at least 8 companies & independents) and things happen, even the weather, but Steadfast made every effort to complete my project beautifully as well as timely. I am extremely pleased and will use them again!

Our experience with them was very good. They showed up when they were scheduled to. We got bids from 4 different companies and they had the best bid of the 4 companies. We made a decision based on the fact that they were the highest rated on Angie's List of the 4 companies we got bids from. We just hired them to do this project and may hire them again depending on how this one works out.

From the start it felt right. Their responses to our questions were right on target. We negotiated some minor issues and proceeded toward demolition and construction. Some delays were encountered as a result of building inspectors inability to coordinate their schedules and reports. I read all the reports. The quality of the work performed was absolutely the best. Of all the contractors we have worked with during the past 4 years, these guys are the best

Working with Steadfast was a wonderful experience, from owner Kenny Krogmann, to field supervisor Mike Shepherd, to the crew consisting of Mirko and Victor. Job was performed under very adverse weather conditions; a major snow storm and bone chilling cold temperatures. Project started on time and finished on time. The end result was fantastic. It will add significant value to my house. The work crew was diligent, highly skilled and respectful. The cleanup was complete. I could not be happier with my Steadfast experience and would highly recommend this firm to anyone wanting to replace their current deck or have a new one built.

I guess there were both positive and negative experiences with them. I feel like they did a decent job on the deck itself and the fence. Part of the issue is that I don't feel like we were given all the necessary information by their salesperson. The salesperson said that to save money we could do part of the deck as composite and the rest as wood but he didn't say that it would look ridiculous because it's two very different colors. So, that's what we are pretty unhappy about right now. We're going to have I guess try and scene it ourselves. It actually took them a long time to finish the job. I guess their price was fine.

We were getting estimates for building a porch, and when we asked our neighbor who built their deck, which was beautiful, they referred us to Steadfast. Steadfast was excellent. They came out and showed us pictures of their work to generate some ideas, and helped us settle on a basic plan. They sketched out a rough plan while there and priced it. They gave us a good deal and sent us formal plans and a contract in the mail a couple days later. They paid attention to details from the beginning--for example, they provided two sets of plans so we could send one to our HOA. The porch turned out beautiful. The carpenter they sent, Keith, was obviously a pro. He built the entire thing--from footers to roof--working alone, and did it faster than I've seen smaller projects done by a team of people. He was friendly, worked hard all day, and helped us work out a couple of details we hadn't thought of until he brought them up--it was obvious that he'd done this sort of job many times. He did fantastic work and we couldn't be happier. To be honest, he sometimes showed up at the site later than we expected and sometimes left earlier than we expected, but he worked so efficiently that it didn't matter. Since the porch was completed, another contractor damaged part of it. We hired Steadfast to have it fixed, and they not only repaired the damage but made it better than it had been before. This company is a class act.

I highly recommend Steadfast. We had a large 15' x 18' deck put on the back of our house by them. Job was started 2 weeks after contract signing and completed about 2 weeks after that (at least 3 work days were lost to rain and inspection delays.) Price was very competitive with other estimates we got and Kenny (company owner) threw in an upgrade to SelectDeck decking for free. Final price was exactly as quoted and work was completed one week early from initial estimate. On-site job foreman was extremely knowledgeable, professional, and courteous. Deck is beautiful and feels extremely sturdy. Job was just completed last week so I don't know exactly how well it will age.

They were professional and came on time. The workers stayed and worked the whole day. One of their carpenters did the most part of the work. They did all the cement work, electrical, painting and the windows. Their pricing was very reasonable as well. Mike Sheppard who was field representative had great people’s skills and explained things very well. But, the manager of the company was not co-operative and rude.

They were pretty good and very personable. They were always on time and did the work on time. They cleaned up after themselves.

Mike made three visits to make sure he understood our needs- providing useful suggestions about how to place the stairs and mesh the new deck with the old ground-level deck. Miguel was the crew chief. My wife really appreciated his phone-calls to inform her of his daily arrival schedule- he was always on time and communicates very well his excellent ideas to add stylistic touches to the construction. Miguel did a fantastic job of converting a sketchy plan into reality. Steadfast used upper grade lumber with beveled corners that is very nice.

After checking on Angie's list, we called in three decking companies to get estimates. While Steadfast's quote fell in the middle, we felt the salesperson Mike, really understood the scope of the project, what the difficulties might be, gave great advice on the best materials to use, and we especially liked that the company has their own experienced crews and do not 'job out'. We immediately ran into a problem getting a permit with our small independent city government. Mike was a trooper, continually working with the city to obtain the permit and checking in with us on the progress. We also had homeowner association restrictions to work through as we are part of a small seven unit complex. Though ours might be considered a smaller job for this company, we felt they were very responsive to getting our job off the ground. Once the permits were obtained (and the rain finally stopped!) the supervisor of our job, Miguel arranged to meet us a day before the construction was to begin to review the plans, discuss the materials and at that time made several excellent suggestions. He confirmed that the job would take about five days. The first day of the job Miguel showed up promptly (as they did everyday!) with his crew of one and began demolition, again making great suggestions at each phase of the project. Due to a city required change to the original plans, we had not decided how to treat the step unit leading down the sloping back of the yard. Miguel constructed a beautiful terraced series of steps which added immeasurable to the overall aesthetics of the project. We also needed a solution that would allow better circulation around our ac unit but not be the ubiquitous lattice and he created a great screening frame for us. He was very good not only with his knowledge and suggestions on the construction, he was a strong communicator throughout the project. He managed the project well, all inspections were arranged for and took place promptly not delaying the work and the project was actually inspected and completed about a half day early. I should also mention a few other things--- since we are in a townhouse complex, they took some pains to keep the materials for the job pretty well contained as they had to be stored for the week in the commons area thus visible to the neighbors. The city inspector had no issues with any aspect of the job. And, because we had to slightly reduce the final size of the deck to be able to pull the permit, the job came in under the original estimate.

Steadfast was one of 3 contractors I got estimates from. Mike Shepherd was the field supervisor that came to do the estimate, he offered the best "vision" for the project and Steadfast came in with the best price even with a lumber upgrade. A copy of the final drawing of the project was mailed to me for review prior to the job starting. Miguel and his team did an absolutely beautiful job of carrying out the project which included a "standard" flat deck up to the existing upper deck support columns with a step down section that then steps down to a small grassy area. They did a second stepdown to create a transition plaform from the bottom of the stairwell to a fence gate. In the "dead space" under the stairs they framed the space in and placed river rock and brought the deck they built right up to the framing. The river rock was Mike's idea and truly adds to the finished product. The entire deck is an aesthetic masterpiece in a relatively small space. The only snafu that occurred was the lumber supply company drove a forklift full of lumber over one of my neighbors flagstone (thanks Kenny) sidewalks cracking four of the slates (and leaving me with some unhappy neighbors) and left a large muddy rut in the common area of my development. I spoke with Kenny regarding this issue and he assured me the flagstones would be replaced and the rut would be filled in with sod and on the morning of my final walk through with Miguel, he told me he was on his way to pick up the replacement flagstones and the sod and sure enough, when I returned home from work the corrections were in place and I even recieved a thank you card from my neighbor a few days later for the prompt response. Kenny, Mike, Miguel and his team did an excellent job from start to finish and I can honestly say this is the first contractor I have used that I will happily use again and refer to friends and colleagues.
