Steadfast and the owner , Kenny, are fantastic. They gave us a very good pricing and did excellent work in rebuilding our large deck and Gazebo. When there was a major unforeseen issue, they did the extra work at cost. The end result was fantastic and the project was on time and on budget. Kenny and his crew were very polite. I recommend Steadfast highly.

Steadfast was professional and very easy to deal with from the start. The price was great. Jeff answered all my questions and Kenny came to the work site every day. They started the date they said they would. Everyone was on time, very neat, very professional and very friendly. The work they performed was excellent. The final deck staining and fence painting was done one month later and on time. I have received many compliments on how beautiful my deck and fence look. I am so happy!! I highly recommend this company and would gladly do business with them again! I wish I could give them an A+ rating. GREAT JOB, STEADFAST CONSTRUCTION, THANK YOU!!
Description of Work: I had a 12x16 deck resurfaced and addition to a fence. They removed all old/rotting wood and replaced with new wood, rebuilt 2 privacy walls and stained the deck. They added in a closure with a door opening and painted the fence..

It went great! The final product is fabulous! The crew worked meticulously to do a great job, paying attention to all details.. They reported to our house exactly when they said they would, and continued to work during extreme heat conditions in order to stay on schedule. And to boot, they were super nice, answered our questions, and double-checked throughout the process to make sure that we were happy with the progress. Throughout the construction, the supervisors also stopped by to check on the progress and to make sure that we were pleased. Not only are we very happy that we added a screened-in porch, but we are very happy that we decided to use Steadfast.
Description of Work: We hired Steadfast to turn an existing deck into a screened-in porch. We had called at least 4 other companies for estimates and ended up feeling the most comfortable with Steadfast - a decision that we did not regret! They responded to our initial inquiry in a very timely manner and upon request provided computer renditions which really helped to clinch the deal (it is easier signing a contract when you have a really good idea of what the finished product will look like). After the project was approved by our homeowner's association, the crew started within a week. As promised, the entire project took approximately 5 weeks from demolition of the old deck to adding the finishing touches. The process involved removing the old deck floor and railings, installing additional posts and the new tongue-in-groove floor, framing the porch, installing the roof, adding screens, skylights, and two fans, painting the posts and staining the floor and ceiling.

This company did a great job installing our patio. In fact, we called them back within a month to expand the patio. They used Techo Bloc paving stones, which is what we requested. They had no problem using them even though they typically use other brands. That tells you a lot- most companies will try to sell you what they use because they make a bigger profit. Steadfast instead was willing to use the pavers I wanted, without any pushback or upselling at all. Friendly service all the way around- from the company rep we initially spoke with to the laborers (I stayed out of their way & let them do their job). Absolutely stunned how beautiful the patio turned out. They built the patio with a slight curve and then added a sitting wall. We used Techo Bloc (Parisian Sandlewood) pavers and Techo Bloc (Mini Creta Sandlewood) wall. Can't say enough about this company and it's employees, we are as pleased as anyone could be with the work they did. Top notch outfit, reasonably priced, expert work. I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Installed a curved paving stone patio at rear of house. Dug deep pit, filled with gravel then pressed down, finished with sand. Placed pavers in sand, then completed with polymeric sand. Built 15' foot 20" high sitting wall. Added half-moon paver landing from two back doors, which allowed easy stepping from inside house to patio. Cleaned up, very minimal footprint, lawn left in good shape, all debris completely removed.

They started the work in June and got to the final inspection pretty promptly. We were mostly happy with them. They still have a few things that we are waiting to get done, and maybe it has to do as much with us as they. We have some picky little things that we want to change and they are working with us to make us completely happy. The work was prompt. They were kind of booked up at first, but once they were able to get out to our house, they got things done reasonably quickly. They did good work, and so far, it is looking good. We have some aesthetic things that they are working on with us. We did have one bad interaction with just one of the people but everybody else has been real good to us, and we are really happy with them.
Description of Work: We went with Steadfast Construction for a patio. They also put up a 14 x 12 screened-in porch.

The sales call was great. The salesman knew what we were looking for moreso than other estimates and agreed to a lot of the things that we wanted. We had a basic estimate written up but were told that some of the specifics that weren't basic (we did not want a standard A-frame for the porch) and we would talk about them before work started. We agreed and decided to go with Steadfast and were given a start date of approximately 2 months later. We believed it to be understood that we would review the plan before the plans were agreed to. However, this did not happen. The start date came and went and we heard nothing. I finally emailed the salesman a week after the projected start date and he said work would start between Tuesday and Thursday of the next week. I stayed home from work on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of the following week and heard nothing. At COB of the third day, I emailed the salesman who said that the weather had delayed them. While this was true, it would have been nice to have that communicated with me. They ended up finally starting the following Tuesday and we never discussed the plans prior to them beginning the process of tearing down the existing deck. Towards the end of the first day, I ventured outside and looked at the plan. The plan did not reflect several of the specifics we requested and when I asked the builder about angled boards that we specifically requested, he had no idea what I was talking about. This infuriated me. The salesman was apologetic and after some speaking with the builder, the situation was rectified. Communication was somewhat poor for the remainder of the work and I went straight to the builder when I had problems. There were slight issues that I thought would have been figured out before and communicated to us (like the gate not fitting because we had pressure treated wood and it expanded and contracted and some other minor issues). I often had to point these out which was disappointing...Overall, however, the quality of the work was satisfactory and the end product came out well and the price was competitive. I just thought I put up with significantly more BS than I needed to.
Description of Work: Replaced existing deck and screened in porch with new approximately 300 sq ft deck and 14x14 screened in porch. Deck had Fiberon composite boards and deck had approx. 13 steps and one landing.

We received several estimates and felt that Steadfast provided the best value. Their standard deck and porch includes a lot of nice features (tongue and groove floor, deck floor set on diagonal, decorative trim on porch columns, beadboard porch ceiling, wrapped/Azek porch exterior) and we loved the look of their completed projects. Miguel met with us a several occasions and spent a lot of time finalizing the size and location of the deck, porch, and staircase. He had a great suggestion for locating our staircase and opening up the view under the deck with engineered (Parallam) beams. He was very patient and knowledgeable and provided CAD drawings of the design in a timely manner. He was a pleasure to work with and even came to our house at the start of construction when we were re-evaluating the location of the support posts. Jack was very responsive to our phone calls concerning choice of materials, estimates, and permitting issues. He has been a pleasure to work with. Mirko and Jose did our construction work. They worked well together and arrived on site each day to keep the project moving forward, working late some evenings and Saturdays. The porch and deck look beautiful. Mirko and Jose worked independently and did not require decisions or direction from us. Mirko had good ideas and a good sense of how the end result should look and took pride in his work and the end result. One thing that was nice is that there was no dumpster. Jose took the entire existing deck apart by hand and they took the old decking materials in their truck. Also, materials were delivered to our house on an as-needed basis. Schedule: We were having the deck and porch built for a graduation party. Even though they started two weeks after their start date, they worked on weekends and evenings to finish the deck/porch in time for the party! Payments: Jack was fair in asking for payments at each phase. The price we paid was the price we were quoted, there was no "nickel and diming". I truly felt that Jack was working with us to get us the best price he could for the porch/deck we wanted. While our overall experience was great, there were a few bumps in the road.1. Construction debris was a little bit of an issue. There were frequently piles of construction debris and trash under our porch during construction. 2. The first shipment of shingles was the wrong color but it was noticed before installation so new shingles were ordered and installed.3. Three deck boards were scratched during construction. These were replaced as an item on our punch list. Overall: I would recommend Steadfast for porch and deck construction. They build a quality product, are easy to work with and have around, and have well trained craftsman working for them. Their prices are fair and they provided a lot of design assistance during the bid process.

We got an educational visit that led to an estimate from Miguel. He was very nice and showed us many great examples. We chose a pretty plain vanilla set-up. We got a second estimate from another Angie's List rated company that was 20% higher for the same scope. A third Angie's List company was non-responsive. So we selected Steadfast. My main sales-related issue about this process is that we didn't go over all of the options available. We spent time on selecting composite materials, and talked about embedded lighting. Options that we learned about later included adding lattice for the bottom of the porch, beadboard to go over our exterior siding that was becoming the interior of the porch, and painting the interior ceiling (floor stain was included). My advice is to be more aggressive asking about options if those interest you. I think Miguel was trying to keep our costs down. My other surprise was that our 12 X 14 porch did not have 168 square feet of interior space. When you get a quote, you are getting the exterior dimensions. That's the industry standard. But remember that framing takes 5 inches on each side. So, we really have space closer to an 11 X 13 room, or 148 square feet. Don't buy new furniture for the space until you understand your usable space. We really liked the construction team leader Manuel. He was helpful in explaining things, he made helpful suggestions during the process (that led to us making some upgrades), and in the case where Miguel's direction was not clear and a mistake was made, Manuel fixed it right away. His team worked hard and they completed the project in 4 weeks which was bit longer than promised by Miguel, perhaps due to the power outtages and July 4 holiday. They still have to come back in about 3 weeks to complete the painting and staining (wood needs some time to dry), which should go fine. This is in line with expectations. The electrician Mike was very good too. If Miguel is your project manager, you will need to be aggressive if you have questions during the process. He doesn't provide regular updates and you won't see him on site. He communicates with your construction leader by phone and he will communicate with you by phone or email within a day or so of your inquiry. We were able to communicate successfully with the construction team leader, so that helped a lot. We were hoping for a higher level of responsiveness, especially around scheduling (he didn't proactively tell us the start date and project went longer than expected without any forewarning or explanation) from Miguel for our $20K investment, and so we gave an B to our overall to our experience. In the areas of quality and price, we are very happy. We would use them again.
Description of Work: They took out our wooden deck and replaced it with a screened in porch and small composite deck. Our screened in porch was 12 X 14 including a ceiling fan.The electrician also mounted an exterior light at the porch door that lights up the deck at night.

One of my friends was using this company to have her deck replaced, sealed and stained. She also was having them put in a fence for her. I was so impressed I called them to ask them to seal and stain my existing deck and also put a fence in for me. They stated they do not put in fences unless they replace your deck. I explained to them my deck was only 3 years old but I did need the sealing and staining done on it, they stated sorry we can not accommodate you. You would think during this economy they would jump at the chance for the work.

Response from Steadfast Construction Inc
Though we would welcome the chance to accommodate all, we have built our company on specializing in 4 main products.....Decks, Porches, Sunroom and Patios. Often, as was the case with this members friends fence, we will absorb the cost and effort of building something outside our norm if it is but a small part of the project. Additionally, we offer staining only on those projects we have built.

Miguel met with us and wrote down all our wants/needs etc. He sent us a CAD drawing within the week so we could visualize what the completed project would look like. This was very helpful as we made adjustments from those initial drawings as our wants changed. Mirko & Jose began the construction during the week of March 17th. They were polite, quiet workers who worked so carefully and steadily. Mirko would check in with me on a daily basis to answer any questions or discuss any suggestions or concerns. They would clean up each day and neatly placed their supplies and materials in one area. I was impressed by this as to keep the majority of the area safe to walk the construction site as we would review their progress. Mirko made several excellent suggestions as they progressed through the project. He and Jose were both very detail-oriented workers who took such pride in their craftsmanship. They stuck to their projected timeframe for the entire project. I could not have anticipated anything better including from their work ethic to their detailed craftsmanship. I am an elementary teacher and I would rate this company an A++ !!!

I hired steadfast to build my elevated deck after shopping around several builders. They worked with me on the design and gave me the exact deck plans that I was looking for. I'm still amazed by how fast and how well they actually built my deck. They wrapped up the job in 3 days and it looks amazing. This is a GREAT company and I'd suggest them to anybody.

I had a wonderful experience with Steadfast from start to finish. This is a well-organized, well-staffed company with a strong commitment to customer satisfaction and quality construction. Miguel Nogales, Field Manager was my initial point of contact and remained so throughout the entire process. He was excellent to work with: very accommodating, knowledgeable, and accessible. He accompanied me on four different site visits to see various completed Steadfast projects in Arlington, McLean, Springfield and Vienna; offered expert advice on materials as well as providing product brochures and samples, and patiently answered my numerous phone calls and emails. Matt Day did a wonderful job as our builder, often showing up early each morning despite commuting from outside the area. He carefully measured, cut and installed one board after the next and managed to stay ahead of schedule despite working singlehandedly most of the time. His craftmanship shows through in the solidly-built new sunroom, the skillful remodel of the existing porch (which dates back prior to 1950) and in the construction and fine detailing of the shadow boxing which flanks both the sunroom and remodeled porch. Matt also made valuable suggestions regarding construction details. I would also like to acknowledge the various Steadfast employees who hauled materials to the work site (at times our street was filled with some pretty big trucks!) and the many wonderful sub-contractors who assisted with construction: Julio and crew with the architecturally shingled roof on the sunroom, Thad, Paul and Andrew with the electricity, Donnie and James with the LG HVAC unit and Adhemar witih the painting.
Description of Work: I. Demolition A. Removed and hauled an existing deck and accompanying stairs B. Removed and hauled porch decking and screens Noteworthy: Fast demolition. Never had a dumpster on my property -- builder hauled trash daily as needed. II. Construction A. Built a 13 x 19 sunroom with shed roof frame and single hip ( 2 x 6 construction) Noteworthy: Excellent craftsmanship. Vaulted ceiling, detailed molding & sill plates for windows, doors and walls, detailed exterior PVC shadow boxing B. Built a 6 x 13 maintenance-free deck with Fiberon deck boards and Trex Transcend railing with square balusters Noteworthy: Herringbone design of deck, railing has a substantial feel C. Remodeled an existing 13 x 8 porch (2 x 6 construction) Noteworthy: thicker walls, new leveled floor, detailed exterior PVC shadow boxing to match sunroom

Let me start by saying I am pretty meticulous about any work done around my home and am probably much harder to please than the average person. With that said upfront I had a great experience with Steadfast and would use them again in a heartbeat due to the end state quality of the work and responsiveness of management. However, I also have some areas of improvement for the company and some things you should keep track of during the process. With any project you need to do your homework upfront and determine what kind of design you want and what kind of materials should be included in that design if you want to be happy. I was going to have Steadfast do a paver patio under our porch, but their quote was literally double what I had from another reputable Angie's list company and I was very happy with their work. You'll see Steadfast builders did a great job of setting the posts just where I wanted them so the pavers could go in seamlessly. We started our interaction with Steadfast when Josh came out to give us an initial proposal and worked all the design issues with us. He was excellent in every aspect. The proposal was detailed and we got a 3D drawing of the rough look of the screened porch and deck around our existing 80 year old stone Cape Cod. The proposal cost was slightly higher than the others we got, but decided to go with them based on favorable reviews here and the work we examined of theirs in the local area (highly encourage everyone to do this to determine what design elements you want). It took about two months for them to start construction after we signed our contract. The total construction time was just shy of two months and almost a month over the projected schedule, but demolition of the existing stone steps was significantly more work than I think they bargained for. Nelson was the carpenter for my build and did a great job with his helper. I was a little dissatisfied that they only put in 5-6 hours daily (usually on the lower end of that range) which probably would have helped with the schedule, but they made up for it in their quality of work and willingness to changes things I asked for (which was substantial, because again I'm picky). They also bent over backwards to keep my wife in the loop and even play with my kids through the doors and windows during the job, which goes a long way with me and he'll be who I ask for if/when we construct a front porch. We did have some issues along the way though. I never got a copy of the plans prior to construction, which probably would have prevented them from having to frame my roof twice. I specifically asked for a roof with a high pitch to match the one on the house (which is a 45 degree roof line on my Cape), and they initially only provided one with a 9/2 rise run. I had them raise it a couple feet and were very happy we did. The room is much more open. Another bone of contention was that the painter who came out actually started to sand lead paint on the outside of my house, after my wife and I warned him it was lead, rather than painting over or covering it, but this was add-on work I asked him to do around my new porch that Steadfast wasn't responsible for. Unfortunately his lack of responsiveness somewhat carried over into the staining of the c-select wood flooring we chose in the porch. He initially put down the wrong product that didn't at all match our composite deck color and he had to lay two more coats of a different material. We are hoping the stain holds, but I feel more than comfortable knowing I have a 2 year warranty on the install, so I can always call them back if it fades. The other big issue that came up was the carpenter tried to integrate the roof with my existing roof line and didn't flash the roofing job properly (really at all), so I noted that. Thankfully it rained a couple days later and the roof leaked during construction. Steadfast then sent out a qualified roofer who redid all the roof line integration work. They also slapped 25 year shingles on the new roof right next to my 5 year old 50 year ones so we'll see which ones go first. Some additional notes on materials/building specifics to keep in mind. We went with Trex Transcend LavaRock because we wanted a darker look to our boards to contrast the white finishing, and I'm glad we used it over the Fiberon material they originally quoted. We went with vinyl railings over composite like I originally wanted because it did keep costs down and they are just as sturdy, especially with Trex decking on top of the rails. The 6x6 posts for the roof compliment the deck boards on the railing perfectly. I originally asked for a completely open ceiling, I didn't want cross ties at all. Steadfast wasn't able to accommodate that request, but I know it can be done to code with stronger beams to carry the load so the cross ties aren't needed to secure the roof. However, they raised the cross ties up to 10 feet so it feels like a church cathedral in there and without the cost of engineered beams/etc so I'm more than happy with that outcome. The didn't use individual screened sections, which was a concern of mine because all the white trex trim would have to be removed around the screen to replace screen sections. They quoted me at $400 to replace all the screening in the future if that should ever come up which is more than reasonable in my mind, since I replaced these before on other homes. We went with a basic pine wood floor because the tongue and grove keeps the insects out without needing screen under the flooring of a basic composite deck. We looked at a deck with screen under it and it just collected a bunch of dirt/trash. They make some tongue and groove composite decking (Aztek I believe) but I knew it was really expensive and we liked the look of real wood. All that said management really really did everything they could to meet my every expectation, which is the best I could have asked for. The owner, general manager, and others all immediately intervened when something went a way I wasn't pleased with. This is one of the reasons I highly recommend these folks. Their devotion to customer service the whole way really was fantastic. You don't get that kind of service around here. Highly recommend you include them on your list.
Description of Work: I will copy and paste from contract to give the best description of work with materials used, which I think a lot of buyers tend to ignore. You have to compare apples to apples between companies if different materials are used. I was very happy with installed materials on this job, with a few minor exceptions I will mention in the review. I gave the company a "B" for resposiveness because I feel they could improve on their communications with their customers. This in no way reflects on the responsiveness of the crew we had. The entire job took a little over four months - began Feb. 1 and passed inspection on June 1. The crew, Kim and Jeff, were excellent; they took there time to ensure the job was done right the first time and their attention to detail was more than we could have imagined. We are extremely satisfied with the end results and have received compliments from all that have seen the addition. I would be happy to share photos.
Description of Work: Built an 8' x 22' ft addition onto our home. This addition allowed for a "motorcycle garage", enlarged laundry room, new full bath on the 1st floor, enlarged bedroom, and jack & Jill bathroom to include separate shower and jacuzzi tub.

As I told Nick, Steadfast's rep who came by to give the estimate, "if Steadfast's customer service is any indication of it's construction ability, then it is no wonder they are highly rated <on Angie's List>." In making the appointment for a free estimate, i discussed my ideas over the phone with Jack, and was given a rough estimate. Then, I received a confirmation call the day before the scheduled appointment (i can't even get a confirmation call from my hair salon!)The day of ... Nick arrived promptly and prepared. Everyone I encountered at Steadfast was polite and professional. And the estimate i received, for my patio enclosure, was very close to the one I received over the phone. And, in my opinion, the final estimate was reasonable and fair.
Description of Work: Unfortunately, I had to put my project on hold due to ongoing repairs in my Condo community, but i feel Steadfast Construction deserves a review based on my (limited) experience with them.

I talked with a couple of firms about adding a deck in the back and a portico in the front on my 1950s rambler in Fairfax County and selected Steadfast. The Steadfast representative who drew up the estimate, Jeff Hoyt, was great. He asked enough questions to be able to write up a good contract that covered all of the bases. The project used Trex instead of pressure-treated wood, which made it more expensive. I didn't see the builders at work too much because they came after I left for work and knocked off work before I came home. Miguel did most of the work as far as I know. The project stretched out over several weeks because of weather, inspections, etc., but we had discussed that ahead of time, so there were no surprises. They installed lighting on the deck stairs, as well as a light fixture that I purchased for the front portico. We did not include gutters in the contract, so I had them installed on the portico separately. I'm enjoying both parts of the project, and would work with them again.
Description of Work: They built a portico on my front stoop and added a moderately-sized deck to the rear of my 1950s rambler. The work included lighting for the deck stairs and installing a light fixture in the portico.

What I like best about Steadfast is they are not sleazy. Their saleman was the most genuine we came across, and overall the staff seems genuinely interested in your satisfaction. When the stairs built to code didn't reach the ground in the same way as the old ones, Steadfast built a platform and landscaped the landing step to make it work at no extra cost. In removing the old ledger strip from the house, Steadfast bent part of the trim around the French doors where calking stuck to it. Purely an accident hard to avoid, but Steadfast deducted the cost of repair from the deck price with no haggling. Details Steadfast puts a trim piece around the perimeter of the deck and on the outside of the bottom rail -- other deck builders don't do this. The night before the demolition of the old deck began we noticed Robins had made a nest on the beam. The next evening when the deck had been torn down and carted away we noticed the workers had placed the nest in a crape mertle near the deck. Quality If there is a knot in the decking lumber used, I haven't found it yet. You can tell the contruction was handled carefully with craftmanship and is so solid it's remarkable. Speed Came out on a Tuesday morning to begin demolition of top and bottom deck, and though the week was filled with periods of rain, by Saturday we were eating lunch on our new deck.
Description of Work: Steadfast demolished our old second story deck and ground deck with hot tub. Thenb they built a second story deck with a bump out for our grill and extending part of the deck with an overhang.

I am very disappointed and feel like our time was not respected and we have nothing to show for it.
Description of Work: I scheduled a consultation, but on one showed up at our scheduled time. I phoned the company that evening after hours and received a call from Jack the next morning saying he had no record of our appointment but he recognized my voice mail message, so it must have been their mistake. We rescheduled for the following week. The day of the appointment, he called to say that he couldn't meet at the scheduled time (5pm), but I indicated we were scheduled at 7pm, then he said that would be fine. The representative showed up on time and spent about an hour discussing our project and said he would send us an estimate in one week. It's now been over 2 weeks and no word from the company. I was willing to give them a second chance, but their lack of attention to detail and follow through means that we will take our business elsewhere.

Thanks to Steadfast and our sales representative, Miguel, our first deck building experience was a great one. Miguel was very professional, timely and prepared to answer all our questions and concerns. The job actually started sooner than expected and would have been completed sooner if it had not been for two days of inclement weather. We are very pleased with the entire job and the overall experience. Thank you Kevin, Miguel, Franklin & crew for a job extremely well done!

Excellent experience, start to finish. Having recently moved to a hillside home overlooking the Loudoun Valley, we wanted to enjoy the beautiful view by adding two decks to the back of the house. The first, larger deck was to be about 40 x 12 feet with stairs to the ground and a Trex RainEscape underdecking, and the second was a 10 x 8 foot deck off the master bedroom. Seeing that it was a large project, we identified four companies from whom we solicited competitive bids. One company asked us to wait two weeks before they could come out to see the job and estimate it. Honestly, we weren't ready to wait for someone just to receive a bid, so scratch one off of the list. Over the next few days, the other three visited to size up the job.Nearly from the outset, Steadfast stood out from the competition. Miguel took the time to listen to our wishes and key requirements, which included stair placement and a strong desire to minimize the number of posts used on the large deck so that we could continue to enjoy the view of the valley from the patio under the deck.Within a few days, Miguel had prepared and emailed a quote to me. Using engineered beams, Miguel designed the large deck using only three posts and placing the stairs just where we wanted them. The second company mailed in their quote and design using standard beams, resulting in having to set 5 posts - didn't they understand how important preserving our view was to us? They were also priced pretty high. The kicker: They didn't follow up with a phone call to see whether or not we'd received the bid, or had questions. Finally, the third company came back with a mindboggling design: They'd not only set the deck up on 5 posts, but also moved the stairs so they cut across the front of the deck, really destroying the view. When asked about this, the response was that they thought it would be better that way. Ugh. Whatever happened to listening to the voice of the customer? Over the next several days, we went back and forth with Steadfast and the third company, adding a little here and taking a little from there. We solicited ideas and tried a few things. Miguel from Steadfast responded quickly to every inquiry with new elevation drawings and a renewed quote. We must have gone through 5 iterations before settling on a design and a contractor. Steadfast won our business for the following reasons: 1) They took the time to listen, understanding what we wanted and the things that set our priorities, 2) They were patient and responsive, making modifications to the design until we were satisfied, 3) The price was very competitive and, with the Angie's list special they were running, the lowest of the three, and 4) They were amongst the most highly rated deck companies in our area. Construction started on the deck about a month later and was done in about 2.5 weeks time. The workers were trustworthy and worked efficiently for the most part. The craftsmanship was excellent. I have no complaints and would hire Steadfast again if I had the need.
Description of Work: Two elevated decks attached to the back of our brick-faced home. First deck ~40 x 12 feet, with a 2-foot cantilevered bay, LED-lit stairs to the ground, and Trex RainEscape underdecking (with guttering). Second deck: ~10 x 8 foot observation deck off of the master bedroom.

From the initial "sales presentation" to the day of completion - the staff at Steadfast were incredible to work with. They came in and assessed the situation and offered solutions that were feasible and acceptable by the county. Because of how our house is set on the lot and an addition put on by the previous owner, there were some issues with a "raised deck". They suggested stairs down to a ground-level deck and provided us with 3-D images so we could get a clear view of what they were purposing. The gentlemen who came to build the deck were the nicest, most professional workers that we've encountered. Nester and the crew answered any questions we had, were happy to walk through each day to show us progress and make sure we were happy with how things were progressing. They explained why they were doing things certain ways and how it would benefit us in the long run. At the end of the project, they waited around until we got home from work to do a final walk-through with us. We are extremely happy with the outcome and would recommend them to any of our friends.
Description of Work: Our experience with Steadfast has been an A+ experience from start to finish. They worked with us to design a deck that would work for our space and our county restrictions. We were in a situation of working around problems created by the previous homeowners and strict county code laws about easements, etc. They offered us solutions, gave us their opinions/ideas but never made us feel pressured. We had them build stairs and a 15x15 on-the-ground deck flush to the brick facade and the back of a house-adjacent garage. We also requested that they seal an existing flashing issue prior to building the deck over it. The quality of their work, the professionalism of their staff and their willingness to work with us on a tight budget are the reasons we will call them again in the future.

On April 2, a Steadfast representative (I think his name is Miguel) came by our home and performed an estimate for a 200 square foot deck with stairs. While he was very personable my complaint lies in the fact that he told my husband and I that we would receive our official estimate within 2 - 3 days after the meeting. A week and a half later, we're still waiting on the estimate and haven't heard anything from the company. At this point, I'm not going to hold my breath and will definitely be going with one of the other companies that were far more responsive and showed us better customer service. Not too upset about not getting the official estimate though, Steadfast's initial estimate was over $2000 more than the other companies we interviewed.

It is our policy to respond to all inquiries we receive in regards to estimate requests, regardless of whether the project falls within the scope of work we perform. The fact that you did not receive a response is quite surprising. At times, emails from Angie's List are not recieved (occasionally routed to spam by mistake) Please contact me at your earliest convenience so we may remedy this oversight. Thank you for your cooperation. Best, Jack Prins - General Manager

Originally scheduled work for a couple months in advance. They contacted me indicating they had an opening in March which I accepted. Work crew arrived on Tuesday morning and were able to remove wood and screening from the old deck and laid down flooring on for the deck. Wednesdays work was building railing on the upper deck and getting material for screening and fascia boards around porch. On Thursday screening and facial boards installed and work completed by mid afternoon. Each day the crew arrived at 8:00 and left at 5:00. Work area was cleaned and organized at the end of each day. I have no complaints and recommend this firm for projects.
Description of Work: Rebuild wooden deck which includes: resurface existing 10 X 22 upper deck , install new screening for porch under deck, install wood fascia boards around porch, build and install wooden door for lower porch.

Steadfast was spectacular. We had three companies bid on the job. Steadfast used quality materials & and actually was able to start work and finish the job more quickly than they originally estimated. The same crew was on site continuously until the job was complete. They even repaired vinyl siding and soffet vent as cosmetic repairs, which were above and beyond what the deck construction job strictly required.
