Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's Big Deal to do some electrical work. There was an extra charge for a piece of equipment, but it was no big deal. It was no problem.

Description of Work: I emailed my ($99.) service request to Staples Elec. LLC. Craig Staples immediately called me to tell me that the offer was not to include replacing defective ceiling light fixtures. He was very polite and sorry that my work was not covered under this deal.

Description of Work: Staples Electric is great; they have provided service to my home several times. I thought I could use the big deal for electrical repairs but all electrical issues have been resolved.

Description of Work: Serviceman came out to install a new circuit in an old system. It was an emergency because my freezer is on that circuit. I called same day and they came out early in the afternoon. Technician was in the house less thatn 30 minutes. Excellent service and I will definately call Staples if I have any other electricial problems.

Description of Work: They replaced all my circuit breakers and waterproofed service wire entry points. They responded promptly, did good work and didn't overcharge me.

Description of Work: This house was building 1972 and had no lights in the room ceilings, through-out the house. I did my research over the internet and asked around at Home Depot. My price point was under $200 for my fans. Craig, from Staples, suggested Hunter Ceiling fans. I had to buy 5 ceiling fans for 4 rooms and my dining room area. I settled on Hunter Sonic (Hunter Fans 21585 52" Sonic Contemporary Energy Star Brushed Nickel Ceiling Fan w/ Light & Remote). I set up a time for them to come out to install my ceiling fans. On Sunday (October 28, 2012), Hurricane Sandy came ashore on the east coast. I was not sure that I would have power, but the electric stayed on. Craig confirmed that the appointment (since he didn’t know if I had power or not). Roberto and another electrician came to the house around 8 am sharp, and installed 5 fans (and cutting new fixtures). They covered all the furniture and tables. It took them 30 minutes to cover everything and started at 8:30 am. Roberto told me about the how Hurricane Sandy made people homes go out because of electric surges. I didn’t know how this affected the electrical grid. So, on top of Roberto installing 5 fans, he installed 3 GFI circuits and a whole home surge protector. This was a great investment in fans, GFI circuits, and whole home surge protectors. Roberto is very relaxed, informative, and kept me feeling like everything was professional. He took an extra step and programed each fan and remote to one frequency, so other frequency interferences.

Description of Work: They gave us an estimate for (1) fixing lights over the sink that were not working, (2) flush mounting an already wired outlet under the kitchen sink for a garbage disposal, and (3) installing a dimmer switch. (1) They stated they couldn't fix the lights over the sink, wrapped electrical tape around the switch and put in back in the existing electrical box. The lights have worked ever since. (2) They installed the outlet, however an existing pipe did not allow for a flush fit. They also did not reroute feed wire. The electrical wire now comes out of the original hole in the wall, runs across the wall and back into the wall next to the outlet. Granted all this is under the sink in a cabinet, but my requesting for a flush mount should have keyed them to the fact that I wanted professional looking job. (3) They did a great job installing the dimmer switch. They were prompt in returning my call asking for a quote and kick to come to give us an estimate. They kept us informed of what they could do and when they would come and do. They showed up at the times they said would. They were friendly, courteous, and cleaned up after themselves. I would use them again, but would be very specific about what I wanted.

Description of Work: Staples responded immediately to my sign-up for their special inspection deal and were delighted to hear I found them and the deal on Angie's List. They promptly scheduled a visit within a week on a date/time at my convenience and performed the electricity safety inspection diligently and thoroughly. The employee was polite, neat and efficient. Based on this experience, i would use this company again.

Description of Work: I called to see if they would install a whole house surge protector. I talked with Craig staples. He said yes they offer that service and that he would call me early the next week to set it up. I did not receive a call Monday or Tuesday, so Wednesday I called again and left a message for them to call me. By Thursday morning, I still had not received a call, so I contacted another firm and they will be installing next week.

Description of Work: From estimate through completed work, Craig and his team were terrific. Provided on-site estimate within 48 horus of email request, followed up with written estimate which ended up being cheaper than final bill. We ended up asking him to remove a ceiling fan/light and 2 wall sconces, in addition to installing 6 recessed lights and 2 spotlights, all with dimmers. He also worked wires for home theater speakers through the ceiling/wall, eliminating the wires running all over the room/under the carpet. Craig showed up with his 2 workers RIGHT on time -- doorbell rang at 8 am, just as promised -- and Nelson and Roberto couldn't have been more professional. They lined everything with plastic, took great care in removing the fan and sonces -- and cleaned up the dust from the rough patch drywall work literally on their hands and knees. Craig was terrific -- steered us in the right direction on lights, provided everything (switches, bulbs) with no hassle/markup. We were thinking of using more expensive recessed lights -- which would have been more time/money to install -- and he told us we'd be fine with the less expensive ones. And he was exactly right. The recessed lights make a huge difference in the room; not so happy with the spotlights, but we weren't very clear about what we wanted in the first place, which made it impossible to make a decent recommendation. We will definitely use Craig and Staples Electric again -- we were very happy with their service and will recommend them to our neighbors/friends.

Description of Work: Relpaced 10-year-old light fixtures in my home--including a very high foryer light. They replaced my foyer, kitchen, two baths and added a ceiling fan light. The two electricians who did the work laid plastic where they worked, were courteous, respectful and most of all problem solvers. One of the fixtures I purchased for the foyer didn't have a long enough chain, so they switched chains with another fixture that didin't need the length--saving me a great deal of exhange grief. The owner even stopped out on Saturday after installation because the ceiling fan was out of balance--he problem solved that, although it was a defect in the fan. Again, saving me much grief. I am extremely happy with this company.

Description of Work: I wanted to get a quote for lighting underneath my kitchen cabinets. The representative came, but could only tell me to visit a particular lighting company to look at samples. Given my time constraints, I asked if he could bring some light samples next week, and he said he could, saying that he'd get back to me to set up an appointment. He never called back. I would have preferred that he said that a visit to the recommended store was the only option in order to take our business to the next step.
