+ -1 moreI called late in the afternoon and left a brief message of my requirements. My call was returned within 24 hours. The rate schedule was explained to me. Although fully booked, Craig dropped by my house to look at the bathrooms, the new fixtures and to explain the process and the time involved to complete the work. Since I was having company, he put me at the top of the list later in the week . Because he was so thorough, I was able to have all 3 work areas cleared and prepared for the work. This saved me .5 hours and was reflected in my bill. The technician was courteous, prompt, prepared to work, very careful and did a very nice job.
Description of Work: I was having light fixtures change in all three of my bathrooms and the junction box moved in one of them. In addition, I had an outside carport ceiling light changed out for a sensor light

+ 0 moreThese guys were fantastic. The walkthrough estimate was very thorough with Mr. Staples. He went over options based on what I was looking for and and sent out an estimate 1 day later. We had a big job and three workers showed up on time to begin work. Work was done quickly and extremely professionally. The electricians consulted me along the way to make sure all placements and functionality was satisfactory. We have an older house and few rooms have overhead lights installed so in many cases they had to do a lot cutting and drilling to run the wire and install the new lights. They patched it over cleanly. Work was done all in one day and they covered everything with plastic to prevent dust and cleaned up before leaving. Highly recommend them.

Description of Work: We had Staples replace the 100 Amp Fuse Box in our house with a 200 AMP circuit breaker. In addition, they added GFI outlets to three bathrooms and the kitchen. They also added grounded outlets to all the rooms on the first floor, added two overhead lights, two wall outlets, and two outdoor outlets. Finally they fixed a broken outdoor light.

+ -1 moreOn Friday evening of the Thanksgiving weekend, the electrical outlets in two rooms in our house stopped working. The circuit breakers were checked and reset but the problem persisted. I called Staples Electric and left a message on Saturday morning and received a call back in less than an hour. Mr. Staples was doubtful that he could locate a technician on the holiday weekend but agreed to try. A few minutes later he called back to tell me that a technician would arrive in about 40 minutes. The technician arrived within the stated time, and after trouble-shooting for about a half-hour he located and fixed the problem. He was on the premises no more than an hour and a half. We were prepared to pay a premium because it was a weekend, and a holiday weekend at that, but were pleasantly surprised at how reasonable the charge was -- less than $200.00. We have worked with Staples before and have always been satisfied with their services, but the promptness, efficiency and reasonable cost of this service, in the middle of a holiday weekend, were extraordinary.

Craig came out himself to look at the room, give an estimate, and give his advice on how many lights/what type/etc. The crew came on the scheduled day and did the work efficiently and cleanly. They did drywall repair on the ceiling, so all we need to do now is sand and re-paint. From what I read/other estimates, they did alot more with the drywall repair then most places (some leave holes in the ceiling, etc). Would use them again for sure!

+ -1 moreStaples services are excellent. Easy to make appointment with my limited available time frame. The technician came on time. Iggy, the technician is very nice and professional. He found the causes of the problems right away and fixed them very fast. Price is reasonable. We are happy about the services and will definitely hire them again.
Description of Work: The lamp post in the front yard stop working even after we reset circuit breaker. Staples came in to check the power supply of the lamp. They found out one of the outlet which connected to the same power source of the lamp post was burned due to the rain water went into the box. It caused the short circuit. The technician removed the outlets and my lamp post is working now. Besides, the recess light in the shower room burn out, but it still didn't work after we replaced a new bulb. After the technician open up the light he found out the trim left a gap which allowed steam went into it. He replaced the trim so everything works fine now. The technician spent 1.5 hours on fixing the lamp post problem and 20 minutes on recess light in shower room. It costs about $150 labor for lamp post + $25 on trim and $60 labor for the recess light.

He repaired a light switch in my bathroom, took down a broken kitchen light and covered the electrical box and installed three USB electrical outlets. He was here for an hour and a half and cleaned up everything as well. Gran is highly professional and personable. He also gave me good advice about other electrical questions I had. I am having them come back to do more work on my house. I was extremely pleased by their service.

They also did rough drywall patches which I think separated them from other electricians. I felt totally comfortable leaving Craig's team in my house without me there. Description of Work: Outstanding work and a very professional team. The owner of the company came by two of the four days the team was working to ensure things were going well. We had them replace the main electrical panel, change plugs throughout the house, add lighting in and outside of the house. I wanted to have the electrical lines placed underground, they did the scheduling with the power company to get the work done. I would tell you that scheduling to get started was a little long but I'm glad I waited.

+ -1 moreThe inspector for our newly purchased home flagged a few things that needed to be made safer or fixed so we called in Staples. They started with the attic fan moved to some outlets that sparked, etc. While Iggy, the electrician, was here the first time, he remarked on how surprised he was that our kitchen did not have any GFCI protector switches. He recommeded I get them at some point given that we had 3 young kids. I didn't feel like he was trying to drum up business, he seemed honestly concerned about it. He told me where to look it up online so that I could see the building codes. Yup, it turns out what he said was right---especially with kitchen outlets right near a water source. I called them back to switch a few of those out and add a dedicated line to my 2ndary refrigerator in the garage. Both times I asked for an 8AM appt. since I have to run around picking and dropping off my kids all day and both times Iggy rolled up at 7:55 and rang the bell right at 8AM. I was especially happy that he answered the 15 different questions that I threw out him while he worked---this is my first time owning an old house and there is so much to learn! He was very patient and not condescending at all (which dealing with contractors daily for the last 2 months, I can tell you is hard to find. I have found an electrical company for life!
Description of Work: Ran a dedicated line to my extra refrigerator in the garage. Changed outlets to GFCI protected near water sources. Fixed various electrical issues that came with a newly purchased house.

Craig was on site every day to check on the team and the overall experience was outstanding. I would hire Craig and his team again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Craig and his team were superb - 5 ceiling fan installations (there were no existing boxes - 4 in the upstairs bedroom and 1 in our family room - we provided our own ceiling brackets and fans - purchased at Home Depot), 10 recessed lights ( 4 in our living and 6 in our family room (with one on a seperate switch over our fireplace and all with dimmers), complete replacement of our 30 y ear old main breaker box, regrounding everything, as well as hardwiring of smoke detectors througout our house (basement, first floor and upstairs).

Staples set up an appointment for the emergency service within a few days. The electrician, Igor, came on time and patiently tracked down and corrected the major service problems. After emailing the company owner, Craig Staples, a list of additional work we needed, he provided a detailed estimate. Igor was sent to do the additional work, which took several days. He consistently worked with patience, skill and diligence, always came on time, and was meticulous and precise. The company owner stopped by to make sure I was happy with the work being done. As a former architect, I have experience in the construction industry, and was extremely satisfied with the professionalism of the Staples Electric team and the caliber of the work performed.
Description of Work: Repair of non-functioning circuits, assembly and installation of a large foyer chandelier (in a ceiling 20+ feet high), replacement of existing dimmer switch, assembly and installation of a complicated kitchen island fixture with a new low-voltage dimmer and junction box, installation of a new dedicated garage outlet, installation of a whole house surge protector, inspection and adjustment of existing attic fan. Installation of island fixture and new outlet also included drywall repair.

+ -1 moreAs noted above, Staples Electric is the only electrical service I will call.
Description of Work: This is maybe the fourth of fifth time I've used Staples and quite frankly I would not consider calling anyone else. This is a bit embarrassing but worth noting. I called Craig early in the morning to report a "faulty" GFI. The GFI controls one entire wall of outlets in the Kitchen. So, I really needed to have it fixed. Craig worked me into his already very busy day, given the last minute nature of the call and fact that his crew was spread throughout Northern Virginia. The arrangement was that he would call when he had someone in the area who could stop by. Early in the afternoon, he diverted on of his crew, who very quickly and efficiently discovered the issue, a faulty extension cord that had shorted out. It was not the GFI (I can now see the total benefit of the GFI) but the faulty extension cord which kept the GFI tripping. I guess there is a reason I'm not an electrician, but thank goodness for the experts. The fact that the issue was discovered quickly and resolved was truly impressive, not to mention that Craig made every effort to ensure that my problem was taken care of that day. His electrician did a thorough inspection of the GFI just to make sure everything was in order. Craig has done a lot of electrical work in my home, installed recessed lighting in all the rooms in my home, installed ceiling fans and installed lighting in all the bedroom closets. Excellent work, in each and every instance the clean up was professional and thorough.

+ -1 more* The employee determined that the attic fan needed a new motor, which we provided and he installed.* He determined that the housing for the garden lights timer was not water tight, with water intrusion causing the GFI to fail. He replaced and caulked the housing and replaced the GFI. Because this was a follow up service call for the garden lights, Staples charged us only the basic hourly rate for the attic fan replacement work. The employee is quite personable and polite. He is capable and efficient in his work. We are completely satisfied with the work and his professional demeanor.
Description of Work: * Our attic fan motor was failing. * The garden lights had stopped working. Staples had addressed the problem twice before, replacing inadequate wiring on one visit, then replacing a failed GFI on the second visit. Subsequently the lights stopped working again.
