SJM LAWN MAINTENANCE

Sent a message through Angie's List on Mar 28 requesting an estimate for mowing services. Never got a response.

I contacted this company at the beginning of May 2009 in order to have some leaves removed from my property. I spoke with the receptionist, who told me she would have the manager, Scott, return my phone call. He did so, the same day, but it was clear from the voicemail message he left me that he was unclear what needed to be done, namely that because we are planning to sell our home, we needed to have the yard in top shape. Scott seemed to think we were asking for ongoing lawn maintenance (not at all what I told the receptionist). Scott promised to come out that day to survey the work and leave a written estimate. This was not done. A couple of days later I contacted the company again and asked about when the work could be performed. I was given an estimate over the phone of about $150, which seemed reasonable. Unfortunately, no one ever came to do the work. It was a particularly rainy month, and Scott informed me that his workers needed to wait until several consecutive days of dry weather, which was fine because they were planning to use leaf blowers and wet leaves don't blow very well. After not seeing anyone ever show up, I called and left a message on May 19th, and again on May 25th. No return phone calls, no work performed, nothing. I finally called someone else and the work was performed by them instead on May 25th for $180. Overall, very disappointing, unprofessional behavior on behalf of SJM Lawn Maintenance. I will not use or recommend them in the future. Not performing the work was bad enough, but ignoring messages is flat-out bad business practice.

Excellent service. Scott, the owner, runs the business very well. All services provided exactly as scheduled. Lawn mowing was almost right to the minute on the day it was scheduled to be done. Owner extremely pleasant and easy to work with, very accommodating to my needs. Was great in working with me on a couple lawn issues that arose not directly tied to their maintenance program.

I called Scott on a Thursday evening. The following Tuesday SJM mowed our lawn.

Quickly responded to my request for an estimate. Prompt communication. Work was beautifully done. My lawn looks great! Very reasonably priced.

WE ARE VERY COMFORTABLE WITH THIS COMPANY. WE HAVE BEEN USING THEM FOR YEARS. THEY ARE NICE, VERY FRIENDLY AND PRICE IS GOOD FOR THE SERVICE. WE ARE LOYAL TO THIS COMPANY AND HAVE BEEN USING THEM THROUGH THE YEARS.
