A free estimate was provided as advertised and work was scheduled for the following week. The estimator was very knowledgeable and I was confident the job would be done correctly. When the installation team came out the next week, they were very courteous, professional and thorough. I was also confident that the installation of the fan on the roof would maintain the water seal against the rain, since this company had previously done our roofing replacement after a bad storm. The fan has been operating perfectly for the past two weeks, keeping the upstairs bedrooms much cooler in hot and humid conditions. I would recommend Pond Roofing Company for all roofing work.
Description of Work: Replacement of attic fan, including inspection of roof decking. New fan included thermostat and humidistat.

These guys are wonderful! After buying a home and then having 3 roofers come and tell me that I needed a whole new roof or the ceiling would be caving in on my head in days (seriously they were that alarmist), Steve (the Pond's estimator) was a godsend. He came in and told me that the roof was fine- I just needed to replace a few shingles and the vents and collars and reseal the chimney flashing. I had just bought the house and frankly didn't have the money for a new roof and it was so nice to have someone not try to take advantage of my lack of knowledge. I told everyone I could talk too how great they were and my neighbor is going to get a new roof from them. When my gutter started leaking this spring these guys were my first call. Steve came over again and while he was looking at the gutters gave the roof a good look over and said it was in good shape and should hold 2-3 more years. He said the gutter in the back just needed lowered and the one in the front should be replaced. I mean how many people aren't going to try and sell you a whole new system. I truly appreciate Ponds for their honest, integrity, and great work.
Description of Work: Replaced vent collars, vents, and resealed chimney flashing- replaced damaged and broken shingles.

We called them for an inspection due to a small leak we were experiencing. We were unsure of the scope of the problem. They redid the flashing around the fireplace and it solved the problem. They told us everything else was fine and to call them in 5 years. I appreciated their honesty, as we were potentially prepared to replace the whole roof. They were very polite and pleasant.
Description of Work: They inspected our roof and repaired some flashing.

They didn?t offer the type of roof that we ended up deciding we wanted. We also wanted a contractor since we had some other work on the house and we were kind of interested in somebody who would do all of that. However, they were not able to do all of that. I would certainly think that they would be worth considering for anybody who is interested in roofing. I certainly don?t have anything negative to say about them. Their estimate was between $6000 and $7000. I would consider using them in the future.

The estimator, Shanti Smith, was very responsive, polite and professional. The work was perfoprmed during the winter, and because of early darkness the crew had to return for a few hours on the second day. The crew worked hard in difficult conditions (cold weather), and did a good job in cleaning up. Shanti did a follow-up QA inspection a few days afterwards. We have been very satisfied with the results so far.
Description of Work: Removed existing roofing shingles (2 layers). Installed new asphalt shingles with 25 year warrantee, ridge and eave vents. Repaired roof deck with 4 sheets of plywood. Removed existing gutters and downspouts, and replaced with new. Installed "ProTech" gutter guards.

replacement windows

Our original windows were extremely drafty and sitting on our couch during cold winter evenings was uncomfortable. Many of our windows were cracked and in poor condition. We received estimates from several small and large local businesses. We chose Pond Roofing for their knowledge, based on recommendations from several neighbors, and Pond Roofing's refusal to play pricing games (a far too common practice). Although we had 14 windows in need of replacement, we were considering replacing some now and the rest later. We did not receive pressure from Pond Roofing to do all of them at once. Our options were clearly layed out and we were able to make a pressure-free decision. Based on their very fair prices, we decided to replace all 14 windows. The Installation team arrived on-time and installed the 14 windows in one day, removing and reinstalling our interior wooden blinds as well. The Pond Roofing installation team called to let us know they were finishing up and when we returned the windows looked great and the clean-up was well done. Overall, we are very happy with Pond Roofing and join many of our neighbors in highly recommending them.
Description of Work: Pond Roofing replaced 14 wood windows with vinyl windows and trim.

I liked them very much. The person that came to give the estimate was very pleasant and professional to work with. The work that was done was good. Last week we had painters come in and they found a leak in the ceiling and I called Pond Roofing back. They came and took a look at it and they will be sending somebody to repair it. They decided to replace the shingles without charging. That impressed me a lot. The people who came to do the work were very efficient. They did their job and I did not have any complaints. I will use them again for sure. They were competitive with others.

We had water damage from severe rains in late September, and it was clear the roof, installed in 1994 with Horizon "shangles", needed to be replaced -- not just repaired. Three roofing companies, and the insurance adjuster, all said the Certainteed Horizon shingle is not good and has been discontinued. We received three estimates from roofers in late October, and Pond's estimator was the most thorough -- the only one to go into the attic crawl space to inspect the attic fans and the only one to explain the need for soffit vents in the eaves. Pond said they could start the job in early December (3 weeks after we signed the contract), and the start date was delayed only a few days by the weather. Although it was cold, it was clear, and the crews (six men) worked literally from dawn to well after dusk completing the new roof and cleaning up all debris in two days. A separate crew came the next day to install the soffit vents. The estimator kept me informed all along of any delays. The new skylights were delayed a week from the manufacturer, but were installed just before a snowfall. When we asked the estimator to delay his final inspection of the work because of the snow on the roof, he offered no objection, and waited a week until we called him. All in all, we were most impressed by the professionalism of the estimator, the roofing foreman, and the roofing crews. The price was a little higher than the other two estimates, but it is hard to judge because the other estimates were not as comprehensive.
Description of Work: Pond replaced the entire roof (4800 sq. ft.) with Landmark Premium Limited Lifetime asphalt shingles; installed a double row of Winterguard ice and watershield on eaves; Winterguard around all penetrations; F5 brown aluminum drip edge on eaves; reworked the existing wall flashings with Winterguard; installed new 18 gauge brown aluminum low profile counter flashings on top of stucco wall lines; laced valleys with Winterguard; installed pipe collars over vent pipes, sealed with Vulcan sealant; installed new brown aluminum 750 vent on one lower roof; replaced three existing attic fans with brown air vent attic fans with thermostats and humidistats; replaced three skylights with Clear-Over-Clear acrylic dome curb mounted fixed skylights; replaced flashings on five existing curb mounted skylights with Winterguard and brown aluminum; installed 2 inch brown aluminum soffit vents every 2 inches in all eaves.

I called the Pond Roofing and made an appointment for them to come out to find the source of the leak about a week later. They arrived when they said they would. They mailed the estimate to our home. We signed the estimate and sent the required 1/3 deposit. It took 3 weeks and 2-3 calls to get them to come out to fix the roof. They fixed the roof and cleaned the gutters as requested and did a good job. The final bill arrived within a couple of days of completion of the work. The final bill agreed with the original estimate.

I was happy with the work. It took longer than I expected. I live in an older home with lots of pop ups. I do not have a flat roof like most people. They spent two full days to patch and make is smooth. I was happy with the way it looked. They recommended some additional ventilation and I had them do that work as well. My roof is less than a month, so time will time how it holds up.

They came when they said they would and worked through the day until it was finished. The new drip edge was installed the next day. Despite it being inherently messy work, they were very neat in catching all of the parts of the roof that they removed, and they cleaned up thoroughly after they finished. Very few stray nails were even found. Several companies gave us estimates, and Pond was in the middle so we think we got good value for our money. We would recommend them without hesitation.
Description of Work: Half of our house has a slanted roof, which had started forming bubbles in places. Pond said that it needed some venting to keep it from bubbling in the future, new shingles, decking where needed and underlayment. They also put a new aluminum drip edge on the eaves to replace rotted boards.

Called them at 8:00 Monday morn when they open. Nice receptionist said the scheduler comes in at 9 and would call me right away as I had water coming in thru the roof, insulation and kitchen ceiling. Heather finally called me back just before noon. She said the next avail appt they had was 2 weeks and a day from now. I said that I had a emergency. She said, "Oh, we don't do emergency roofing". Just thought Angie's List people should know not to waste time with Pond Roofing if your roof is actually leaking into your house and needs to repaired (or at least tarped up) on a quick time line. Heck, by the time Heather got back to me I already two other top rated Angie's List firms scheduled to come out to help.
Description of Work: Heather, the scheduler, was polite but not helpful. We have water actually coming into our attic and somehow finding it's way through the ceiling into our kitchen. With more rain on the way I needed some one to at least get a tarp on it. Per Heather the soonest they could come out just to "look" at the roof was in 15 days. When I told her it was an emergency, she said Pond's doesn't handle roofing emergencies.

The process took a long time, but I wasn't pushing for speed and terrible weather kept slowing things down. There was a leak after the initial installation, but Pond went to great lengths to solve the problem. Overall, I thought they did a first class job and would happily recommend them to others. The project was expensive (hence the B grade for price) but that may simply reflect the high cost of artificial slate.
Description of Work: Replaced worn out slate roof and gutters with new composite (artificial slate) roof and new gutter system
We've gone through 2 other roofers. Pond is professional, prompt, do a great job and leave NO nails or debris. They may cost a little more, but are completely worth it!

They did a really good job. I had an issue after they came out the first time to do repairs to my roof, and I had called thinking it may have been an issue they hadn't solved. They came back within 3 days and checked the roof thoroughly. They said it wasn't their fault and it was something else. They happened to be right and everything has been right ever since. In fact they will be coming again the next week, because dusts have filled up my house over the real bad winter we've just had. They were not any more expensive and seemed pretty reasonable from what I had been quoted from other people. They were very good and I would recommend and use them again. They were very professional and polite. They showed me what they took off the roof and showed me how damaged it was and what they took off looked really bad. They were very good and I was very happy with what they did.

After less than a year with the heavy snows of Fall 2009-2010 my roof had snow and ice dams on it. It leaked inside my townhouse causing damage. Pond Roofing denied any responsibility and tried to blame the leaks on my windows, bathroom plumbing and moisture from my clothes in the dryer. Pond was the most expensive price of 4 quotes and gave a 15 year guarantee. I used them because I mistakenly thought they were good. WELL I WAS WRONG!!!! Now after going back and forth with them, they refused to repair the damage. It is obvious the leaks are from the roof and they just blew me off!!!

Response from Pond Roofing Co Inc
I am stunned by the member’s complaint: Since her first call on December 21, 2009, right after our first major snow storm, we have been to her home 5 times; we arranged for a professional roof inspection, and I have sent her information to assist her in filing a claim with her homeowner’s insurance carrier. Although the streets had yet to be plowed and the government was shut down, our shop supervisor offered to go to her home immediately to check the interior to find the source of the leaks. His request was declined, and an appointment was scheduled for December 29, 2009. On December 29th, the supervisor examined the inside of her home and the roof. He checked the attic, the windows, the laundry equipment and bathroom located directly above one of the leaks; he fixed a broken window seal and cleaned out the outside dryer vent which was clogged with lint. Once snow and ice melts, it is almost impossible to tell if there was an ice dam, and he wanted to make a complete inspection because ice dams are not under warranty and claims for damages must be submitted through the homeowner’s insurance policy On January 6, 2010, the member left a message saying that while she had no additional leaks, she was calling a mold remediator and a dry wall specialist, and she would be sending the bills to us for payment. I talked to the member for 67 minutes and asked to be present when the remediator inspected her home, but she refused my request. She said that several of her neighbors had similar leaks and they were “scratching their heads” trying to figure out where the leaks were coming from because both old and new roofs were leaking. (In the member’s development, there are 12 units identical to hers, and 8 of those units had leaks. We installed roofs on only 2 of those models, including the member’s.) I spoke to the member for nearly an hour on January 13, 2010, and when she said we had not used the correct underlayment and had incorrectly installed the roof, I asked to bring a representative from CertainTeed (the shingle manufacturer) out to inspect her roof. I explained to her that Winterguard (underlayment) had been installed on her roof to code, but that it is only a preventative measure against ice dams -- ice dams form when melting ice and snow refreeze around the eaves of the roof and back up under the shingles, causing leaks and water damage to interior walls and eaves. There is no guarantee against the formation of ice dams as they are considered acts of God and nature, particularly during the historic storms that hit this area. On January 21, 2010, a technical representative and installation professional from CertainTeed came to the member’s home. I was present as well as the supervisor and a rep from our roofing supply company. The CertainTeed rep examined the interior and the roof, and advised the member that the roof was installed correctly and to code. We suggested that since so many of her neighbors had similar leaks that her homeowner’s association might want to consider hiring an engineer or architect to inspect the properties for design or structural issues. Since the storms hit us, I have contacted roofing professional associations for information to assist our customers in filing claims for ice dams. On February 19, 2010, CertainTeed issued a technical statement about ice dams and stated that its warranty did not cover ice dams and that homeowners who incurred damages should contact their insurance carriers. CertainTeed’s warranty applies to manufacturer defects, and our 15-year warranty covers workmanship. I sent this statement, together with other information on ice dams, to the member. To say that we “blew her off” is totally inaccurate. Pond has built its 45-year reputation on superior roofing and customer relations. We have earned Angie’s List Super Service Award for the last 3 years, and we have consistently been named one of Northern Virginia’s top roofers by Checkbook Magazine. Thousands of residents in this area had ice dams, it was covered extensively by the media, and affected homeowners were advised to contact their insurance carriers. We “move mountains” for our customers, but we cannot be held responsible for problems that are caused by God and nature
