Clint and his team are the best in the business! From designing our space to installing everything with such precision and detail, they did a fantastic job on our multi-step project. They installed a beautiful three-tier retaining wall, a large marble patio, a deck with steps leading to our backyard and will be helping us with several more items as we install a pool in a few months. My husband and I cannot recommend them enough!!

This is our second time using Phoenix Home Services and we could not be happier. The first time, we had a leak in the kitchen and our insurance company's recommended contractor was very difficult to get in touch with and made us feel like the job wasn't worth their time. Since things weren't going well, we reached out to Phoenix and they really pulled through and we have our dream kitchen! Honest guys, hard workers, and excellent work. When we needed a roof replacement, our confidence in them led us to hire them to do a complete glow-up of our back porch (basically, build a completely new structure, wired with electrical for fan and lighting), as well as a facelift for our carport. We knew when we hired them that this would be worth every penny paid - and we could not be happier.

Phoenix Home Services did a fantastic job with my home remodel. Before we hired them, they gave us good ideas, which showed us their creativity, and more importantly, they gave us options for different price levels. They were never trying to push us to spend more money, and they took great care in the work and detail they provided. It was a great experience, and I would definitely recommend them and use them again for future projects. They knocked down interior walls to give us an open floorplan and gutted the existing floor, kitchen cabinets, kitchen island, and brick fireplace. They then installed all new kitchen cabinets, island, appliances, flooring and kitchen backsplash, ledgerstone fireplace, painted the entire house, updated the electrical work (outlets, switches, circuits), and fixed concrete issues on our front porch. They were very responsive to our questions and kept us fully informed of the work schedule and timelines. Steve and Clint are true to their word, and we had zero surprises at the end of the project. All of their workers are very professional and friendly, and they left the house looking beautiful and clean. We love the house and are grateful to Phoenix for the quality work they provided.

When I decided to add a porch to my home, I knew I wanted a contractor who was not only skilled and experienced but also responsive, attentive to detail, punctual, transparent, and that genuinely cared about their customers. After careful consideration, I chose Clint and his team from Phoenix Home Services, Inc, and I couldn't be happier with my decision. From the initial consultation to the final touches, Clint and his team were incredibly responsive to my inquiries and requests. They always kept me informed of the project's progress and were always available to answer my questions. I never felt like I was just another number; they genuinely cared about ensuring that my porch was exactly as I envisioned it. My wife and I have high standards for the quality of work done on our home. The team not only met, but exceeded our expectations. They were meticulous in their attention to detail, ensuring that every aspect of the porch was constructed to the highest standards. They took pride in their work, and it showed in the finished product. In the world of home improvement, punctuality is often a rarity. However, Clint and team were always on time, if not early, for every scheduled appointment and meeting. They respected my time and my schedule, which was refreshing. The team was also always transparent about the project's costs, timeline, and any potential challenges that might arise. They kept me informed every step of the way, and I never felt like I was being kept in the dark. This level of transparency built trust and confidence in their team. Clint and the team at Phoenix didn't just build a porch; they built a relationship. They were genuinely interested in my satisfaction and went above and beyond to make sure that I was happy with the final product. They treated me like a valued customer, not just a source of income. Overall, I highly recommend Phoenix Home Services for any home improvement project. They are a team of skilled, experienced, and dedicated professionals who will take care of you and your home. If you are looking for a contractor who will put your needs first, look no further than Phoenix Home Services. Thank you, Clint and the team at Phoenix Home Services, Inc. for transforming my home and creating a beautiful front porch that my family and I will enjoy for years to come.

We just completed a renovation with Phoenix which included removing our old wooden deck, building a screen porch and paved patio, and all the smaller considerations that go with those projects. We considered a smaller contracting outfit but decided to go with Phoenix. What interested us about Phoenix initially was the breadth of experience and expertise reflected on their website, but what sealed it was our initial meetings with, and proposal from, Phoenix's co-owner and design guru, Clint. We had only vague ideas of what we wanted, but Clint saw all the possibilities and was generous with his vision, while still being mindful of budget concerns and presenting alternatives to satisfy those. As we were new to doing a home project of this scope, Clint was patient with answering our many questions and addressing any concerns we had. A benefit of going with a larger and more established contracting firm like this, we found, is their access to, and existing relationships with, the "best of the best" sub-contractors and suppliers. I think they also must have some sort of magic deal with the permit authorities (or perhaps it's just vast experience and knowing how to get these things through efficiently) because that part of the process, which we expected to produce the biggest delay, went at lightning speed! Indeed, one of the great things about Phoenix is that they keep everything moving forward. The projects and subprojects kept moving at a breakneck pace. Clint makes sure everybody’s taking care of their responsibilities (including, sometimes, you the homeowners). In the end, the project was done literally months ahead of schedule and we are very pleased with it. We'd absolutely use Phoenix again if we ever get our act together enough to do another home renovation, which is a big "if" as we are generally lazy people. But we're so glad we finally did this project, after having it on our backburner for over a decade, and that we did it with Phoenix.

Description of Work: They responded via phone to my request on Angie’s list and set up an estimate the following week. They did not show up during the time frame we set. I followed up with a phone call/message, and would have been very forgiving if something came up....and never heard back. If they didn’t want my business, they should have never set up an estimate.

Very disappointing!
Description of Work: Nothing! Brian spent and hour with my husband on April 29 and after several phone calls and emails he never got back to us with a proposal. I called again for the last time this week and the person on the phone said that Brian was out in the field and he would have him get back to us and nothing, no return call. Very disappointing.

Description of Work: They installed Egress Windows in my basement and did a terrific job. Clint, Brian and Jose were especially attentive to my requirements and made sure the job was done per specification and finished on time. The overall work was performed to a high professional standard and worth the premium. I say this having much prior experience with home contractors: Phoenix is outstanding.

Description of Work: We did end up getting an excellent contractor through Phoenix for the addition of our pergola over our deck, but the first Contractor that Phoenix sent to us was doing double duty, spending a few minutes at our house and then running to another job. Would work short days, and not show up on days scheduled to work. He left the fairly big job to his little brother, who was very nice but didn't know how to speak English, and didn't know codes, and how to read the plan. When he asked me for help with how to build the structure I told him I wasn't familiar with codes, and the changes that were being made to our plans. The main contractor did come back to our house after being called back by his brother, (took him a couple of hours where work here stopped), and became enraged when questioned about the divergence from the written plans. Stated the sales rep that did the drawings was just an office person, didn't know anything about construction. The contractor didn't want to put the metal reinforcements down for the posts, said it was a waste of money, though our price was not going to be adjusted for the elimination of the agreed upon products to be used. The overall confidence in the workmanship slipped from there coupled with the anger from the contractor regarding the plan recommendations , and then eventually toward me when I told him we needed to adhere to the plans proposed and signed off on by Phoenix's office engineers, and our HOA. There was confusion between the written plan description and the actual drawings done by their Engineers and Clint the sales person. Considering he neither was on site to do the work himself consistently and according to plan and was rebellious to any sort of compliance, spoke aggressively and defiantly when questioned about the plans we felt the whole atmosphere was dangerous to construction of such a large structure over our 2nd story deck. This contractor was asked to leave promptly when he escalated into a fury with his brother in Spanish when his brother acknowledge he made a mistake to me. It was a scary mess having this kind of person working on my home. Phoenix took another 3 weeks to find another contractor to come out. We held on to our original signed off by the engineers copy of Pergola plans, much to the Owner's chagrin. He tried repeatedly to get them back from us. The second contractor was very very good, came on time, stayed for a full day at a time, and did a solid job of building our pergola over our deck. If he had been the first one to arrive I would have given Phoenix an A+ rating, but instead the co-owner of Phoenix, defended the hothead that came first as having only had outbursts one or two other times on other jobs. That just struck me odd, that knowing he blew up twice before with 2 other jobs, maybe 3 (he kept adding events), he was still considered a good contractor. Made me loose confidence in the whole company, even though I'm very satisfied with our end result. I would not call Phoenix again for the staining of our deck and pergola or any more work in the future. Just don't feel sure of what kind of contractor would show up. And if the work done is not good would Phoenix be straight forward or would they try to cover it up. Overall, I don't have confidence in their whole process, but I feel we got lucky with our contractor. He should start his own company. I'd call him again. I rated every category with a C because the first experience was an F and the second an A.

Description of Work: They repaired our chimney plus some foundation cracks (due to settling) and painted where the cracks had been. |We were on a tight timeline as we were selling our house, and we'd been given some very high bids ($9000-25,000) for the foundation cracks the house inspector noted. Phoenix identified what actually needed to be done, which was much less. To make sure what was needed, we checked with a structural engineer (which the house inspector recommended). The SE confirmed that the other bids were basically overkill and that Phoenix had made the correct recommendation. The head guy, Glen, came and took care of the interior cracks himself. He also worked with us patiently through a lot of confusion about what we needed done and when we needed it. Well done, on time, on budget, and a lot less than other bids we got.

Description of Work: I signed a contract with this company in November of 2012. Clint was a smooth talking salesman who pressured me to get the sale, calling me multiple times a day with big promises. The crew started about a month later. Sixteen months later, they still aren't finished. I hired them to replace a smaller brick staircase leading to my front door with a larger brick staircase with stone treads. They made mistakes from the beginning. The contract called for 12" treads, they designed it for 11. (I asked for blueprints before they started, and they refused, telling me I could look at the plans that the foreman has). They built the foundation for 11", but then laid lintels for 12" steps. They got to the mid-landing all out-of-whack, and had to redo part of the foundation, decreasing significantly the interior storage area. The brick facade they originally didn't support from the foundation, and I made them redo that also. Their first attempt to set the treads was a fiasco, with treads tipped out of level, out of square, etc. water pooled instead of shed. But they had to be removed anyway, because they used two different colors of limestone, from two different suppliers because that was cheaper. None of it was on site when they started the job, and I didn't see it until it was already partially up. As a fix, they tried reordering half the limestone to match, but that resulted in a third color, so they had to reorder the entire batch. This is several months between orders, since it comes from a quarry in Indiana. The third batch they dropped and broke the last big piece, so I'm left with a staircase that was 95% covered. They hadn't ordered any extra. The foreman was on vacation when the guys were laying the stone, and of the three guys who were generally there working, the senior one was also not on site when the stone was dropped. So, they remeasure and tell me they're going to reorder everything and do it right. OK, so I'm patient. Five months later and I just find out they didn't order the stone. They want to try to match the missing piece. So, finally I'm writing the review. |Unfortunately, I've got a few more negatives as well... |The railing is up, but not with a consistent distance from the edge of the stone (varies by two inches along a five foot landing), it is rusting at most joints, and has stained the stone below it. I paid extra for the structure to have storage underneath, but they didn't waterproof properly, and didn't pitch the landing and treads (1/4" per foot is standard) for water to drain off, so I get dripping water in the storage area and saturated wet concrete walls all around. This winter, freezing water lead to quite bad ice on the steps. |I don't know how well these guys normally are, and I was very patient and understanding all along the way, hoping that the product in the end would be great. Sixteen months later, I'm very frustrated and my front yard is still a mess. Now I guess I'm going to have to play harder. Northern Virginia has plenty of masonry choices, I'd recommend you make a different one. |With this project still ongoing, I'll update my review based on the final outcome. Bad luck and mistakes can happen, so the real measure of a company's quality is to handle them properly. So I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that they'll get this done right.
