Description of Work: I want to update my early 60's kitchen and having seen the work Ray Nissen did for 5 homeowners over the course of 10 years I knew I wanted an estimate from him. It came in outside of my budget so I didn't hire him. However, he arrived when he said he would, listened to my ideas, showed me alternatives and, as I had been told, had no problem with my acquiring materials on my own from discount sources. He was clean, courteous and dealt respectfully and kindly with my stroke impaired husband and my disabled mother-in-law. Although he was not aware of what my budget was he laid out the cost of each individual item on my gotta' have list so I could see the where and why of my expense. After listening and taking my drawings in hand he left to get it down to firm numbers. When he returned with his firm cost list he was very understanding when I explained it was beyond my means. He put no pressure on me, didn't cajole or or poor mouth any competitor.

+ 0 moreRay did a wonderful job. His work was very professional. The quality of his service was outstanding. He came on short notice and worked around floor refinishers and painters.
Description of Work: Install new floor in bathroom; install new faucet in bathroom, furnish and install new laminate counter in second bath and install new sink and faucet. Caulk both bathrooms. Rescreen sliding door screen panel. Repair sliding door handle; Install towel bars; install three sets of curtain rods.

+ -1 moreRay was one of 3 contractors bid on the kitchen remodel. We found his design most compatible with ours as well as his timeline and cost estimate. He measured and designed a layout we liked and helped figure our cabinet order. He gutted our old kitchen and reconstruct our new one, acting as general contractor in terms of arranging when the electrician needed to come, the new appliances and the countertop. He also installed tile behind the cabinets. The end product was exactly as we imagined it. He's also been responsive to follow up questions and requests.
Description of Work: Designed our new kitchen. Gutted and reconstructed our new one.
