Next Day Blinds - Fairfax

Price was for four window blinds, wood to match a log cabin. The blinds were of top quality, if pricey. However, the installation never got done. An appointment was made two weeks in advance. A time scheduled (10 - 2). On the day of installation the time kept slipping ("He'll be there at 12:30". "No later than 2:00".) My calls did not get good information or much help. As it turned out, as for most people, I had other things to do, namely get to the hospital where my wife was and get a report from the doctor. The blinds were left on the porch and I installed them myself the next day. Nice blinds. Very poor service, especially considering the price. Next time I will look elsewhere.

The process was smooth. Salesperson was knowledgeable in helping us choose the coverings. The measuring and installation was done promptly and professionally. The only hiccup was that, because it wasn't convenient for us to return to the store before installation and we hadn't yet chosen a (near-white) color for the top window Silhouette blind, we asked the salesperson to choose a color that would resemble, as closely as possible, the plantation shutter color we had already chosen. As it turned out, the upper blind is a much brighter white than the plantation shutter (but pretty nonetheless and we didn't want to take the time to follow up to try and correct the issue).

I didn't go into a Next Day Blinds location, I called for a Shop at Home appointment. The decorating consultant slogged through the snow to make it to my house, which was admirable. She listened to my needs, took measurements, showed samples, and provided a quotation on the spot. The pricing was OK, but then she offered me a 15% discount if I purchased that day. Well, this was the middle of the blizzard of 2010 and my husband was stuck at work (he's a firefighter). There was no way we could make a decision right away. Also I was getting other quotes and wasn't quite ready to commit. It bothered me because if I committed later, I knew I would be paying too much. Also, I never heard back from the consultant after she left--no phone call or e-mail or anything to follow up. I went with another company that was more responsive.

They were generally good. I talked to them on the phone and got some samples. We decided to go with another company we had previously used.

They were fabulous and I can't recommend them highly enough. The service was fantastic and the people were wonderful. I had motorized blinds and it wasn't my blinds that were a problem, my windows are crooked. I have a new home and it is such an irritation. The pricing wasn't as good as a lot of the other places, but the return service fee is included in everything. I would recommend them highly. I have an 18 feet ceiling and three huge windows at the top of my ceiling and the blinds are hanging. I love the blinds.

Sales experience was great. The guy (Paul?) was nice, knowledgeable, and got me in and out quickly which was important to me as my time is limited and I don't enjoy wasting my weekends shopping for blinds. I was disappointed that it took two weeks to get a "measuring" appointment and then another 2 weeks to get an installer appointment. The name is "misleading" and kind of made a mockery of how long this took. The installer could not have been nicer. He was one of the nicest handymen I have ever worked with and he did a beautiful job on installation. He really got screwed though by the scheduling department. They called me an hour before my appointment (at 7 am), woke me up (it was a Tuesday but I was off that morning and the appointment window was 8-11) to say he would be there in 20 minutes. I raced to get dressed and be ready. Around 9 am I called to see what happened. THey said I was the first appointment and he was stuck in traffic. That's totally understandable. Around 10:30 I called back and they pushed me around a bit before I'm told he is still "on his way." Traffic was horrendous that day and I understand why he was late. What I don't understand is why the customer isn't given the courtesy of an update when things are taking THAT long! They should allow their installers to communicate directly with the customer. He could have told me he was 10 minutes away or 10 miles. He had no idea I had been promised any time other than the 8 am - 11 am window. Poor guy -- they clearly hire great installers and then set them up for customers to be very frustrated with them. That's why I gave an F for responsiveness and professionalism. I mentioned when I called back around 1030 am that I would have appreciated an update. The lady just read from her script and told me to have a great day. (The rude person I mention was the "tracker." The customer service lady was lovely btw, again, not her fault either).

After determining that we wanted blinds for several of our 1959 ranch home, I shopped around for the best price. Color Wheel in Arlington was far and away the most expensive - almost $800 for just 2 blinds - eek! Next Day Blinds (Cliff) was extremely patient and helpful, making suggestions and taking a lot of time with us in our selections. We made 2 appts (one for measurements and the other for installation). Both contractors came at the appointed time. The installor was very quick, neat and personable. We'll use them again once we save up enough to install wood blinds on our dining area windows. I highly recommend Next Day Blinds at Bailey's Crossroads.

They came over, took measurements, and gave me an estimate. They said I could call back if I wanted the work done, and I did. They were competitively priced even though they weren?t the cheapest.

Tiffany told me that the installer would arrive between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. She called me around 12:30 p.m. and told me that he was running late. She called me twice thereafter to give me updates! Actually, the installer wasn't really late -- he showed up around 2:05 p.m. and changed the string in my blind, and put it back in place -- and it works like new. No charge, no hassle, and everyone was very pleasant. I'm really impressed and very happy.

Terri came to do the free estimate, and we immediately hit it off. She asked me what I wanted to do in the house, and when I told her, she said, "Oh, good. That's exactly what I think will look the best in here." She took detailed, thorough measurements of all the windows in the house, patiently explaining everything about how the blinds would be installed and what they would look like. She was able to plug the measurements into her laptop and give me a detailed estimate before leaving, which she also e-mailed me. I got estimates from two other companies (JC Penney and Blinds for Less), but Next Day Blinds cost about $1000 less than either of them, plus they have a better warranty (including in-home repairs for a period of time). Lonsdale and Gary came to do the actual installation, and they were lightning-quick. I had assumed that my 20 windows, some of which had multiple blinds, would take half a day to install, but they were in and out, with all the boxes disposed of, within 90 minutes. Every single blind was just perfectly made-to-measure and fit into my inset windows like a dream. Lonsdale did an amazing job mounting blinds in drywall, tile (in a shower), and even with hold-down brackets on a door, and then he patiently explained everything about the blinds to us and answered all our questions before leaving. I still can't wipe the smile off my face when I look at my lovely windows and enjoy my privacy. **Update: A few months after the installation, we had some trouble with one of our blinds and we couldn't close it at all. We called Next Day Blinds, and, as promised in the warrantee, they sent someone out to the house to fix it. It turned out to be Lonsdale again, who verified that it wasn't anything we had done to the blind and fixed it. We haven't had trouble with it since.

It was the 5th time that they came out to do some work for me. They were prompt and they measured the shutters properly. They use surgical wear and they also take off their shoes. They are clean too. The people that measure come when they say they are going to come. They come within 2 hours after they say that they going to come. They just give a 4 hour window. The shutters arrived on the day they were supposed to come and they installed it perfectly. The color of the shutters and the hinges were perfect. They have knowledgeable and capable people. The company also does a follow up and the servicing is fine too. They were very expensive, but I would never trade them for any other company.

The project went very smoothly. I contacted Michael Bruce, who came to the house and helped me to select the appropriate blinds for each room of the house. The installer came about a week later. He was well prepared and had everything up in about two hours. All of the blinds look great and function well, so there was no need for any followup. This project wasn't cheap, but I had many blinds installed so I wasn't surprised. I can't even imagine what a nightmare it would have been to try to do the job myself.

Saleswoman Terri Herbst called and asked if she could come over early. I agreed and she showed up on time an hour or so after calling. She proceeded to show me some samples and measured all the windows in the house. A couple of weeks later the installer Andy arrived as scheduled and proceeded to do the installation. He was fast efficient and clean. He cleaned up after himself and answered all questions. The price seemed reasonable for the services provided and sales person and installer did a great job. I would definately use this company again.

I thought the overall experience was very good. Having never purchased blinds, didn't really know what I wanted/needed and Mykaella B at the store walked me through things that were available at different price points. My big concern was a child safe product, so that did narrow things down. I got a rough estimate from them that 1st day and then did shop around a little more. Went back about 3 weeks later because they did have the best price for what I wanted and finalized all the details. They were out to measure within a couple days and installed about 4 days after that which I felt was very fast. The installation was painless for us. The installer even noticed paint on one of the blinds and re-ordered that blind for us. They've been in for a little over a week and they look great, function beautifully and we're very happy with them.

Their quality was excellent and their price was fine.

They really did it perfectly because they had taken the measurements. The sales person who had come was nice and he gave options as what will look good and stuffs like that. They were very efficient.

Replaced window blinds in kitchen bay window. Took old blinds in to Next Day Blinds. Gentleman was very helpful. Explained the options I had and the pricing. Showed me examples. Did not try to push any particular blinds over others. Took the measurements from the existing blinds, ordered them and said they would be ready the next day. He also gave me pricing and showed samples of blinds for a patio door I wish to do in the future. He called the next morning and said the blinds were ready for pick up. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. They said what they would do and then they did exactly that. Can't ask for more than that. I will definitely use them again and would recommend them to others.

Very well. Clinton Seitz, mgr. of the Baileys Crossroads showroom, was wonderful to work with & extremely knowledgeable, giving pros & cons of various window treatments & helping us choose the best window treatment for our needs (lots of rowdy cats, big windows divided into 1 large & 2 small side windows, need for really sturdy blinds that will hold up well & that are as low maintenance as possible). The man who came to measure the windows was fast, thorough & very pleasant. Denis, the installer, did a great job and explained the care & maintenace of the blinds. The company sent the wrong blinds for one of the windows and gave us a 10% discount off our total. Denis went to great lengths to make sure the correct blinds arrived later that same day and installation proceeded as planned. Denis stayed late to make sure our installation took place as planned. The blinds look great, the experience was very positive. We had looked into other blind companies and found that the prices were outrageous or that the quality was not what we wanted. Next Day Blinds is not the cheapest company around but you get what you pay for and they provide excellent service,a quality product and a good warrenty.

The sales rep. input the measurement for one of the seven windows incorrectly, therefore only six were able to be installed on the day they promised. The Service department quickly accepted the responsibility to remake them and agreed to reschedule to install the final window. During the period of about a week, before the seventh blinds were to be installed, I noticed that the "inside mechanism of the track and valance" was visible from the outside. Three of the seven windows were very visible at our front entrance. I spoke to the Sales Rep and the Service Manager, and they agree to make an outside valance, and install them on all seven windows, at no cost to me. This necessitated a third installation trip, but each time they sent me an e-mail, detailing the approximate time, the name of the Installer and how long he has been with NDB. They did this extra effort without any pressure from me. Although it took a little longer than anticipated, I ended up pleased.

I went into the local store to look at samples and get more information on treatments for my patio door. Stephanie Ford helped me and was very friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I received an estimate quickly. I got back to her about a month later and set a date for measurement and then installation. Both arrived very promptly. The vertial blinds look great.

I went to the showroom and I worked with a very nice lady. The total process was very professional. They re a very organized outfit, and they re a very clean operation. They came in, took their shoes off and put the blinds in. He patched holes that were there from before that he didn t make. It was a very professional organization from start to finish.

We needed cellular blinds in four West-facing windows to reduce the amount of extra heat generated by summer afternoon sun. We visited NDB in Fairfax and had a good experience selecting the appropriate product with the help of Mykaella Buchanan, Asst. Manager. A measuring appointment was made for a few days hence and installation was scheduled for less than a week after measuring. The measurer arrived on time and finished measuring quickly. Installation took place on time, quickly, and efficiently.

The lady that came out for the inital appointment was very helpful in making our selections. The only issue was when she said the vertical blinds in our living room would be exactly like what we had, we did not realize that ment cords on either end unlike the ones we had which only had cords on one side to open. The installers came out within the time window and did a good job. A couple months later we noticed the ends were sagging and called next day blinds and they had installers out within one week to fix the problem. They did crack one piece, and a replacement was supposed to be shipped to us. It has not arrived yet. We will call if it does not arrive within the next week.

After looking at a catalog I'd gotten six months ago, we went into the showroom with a good idea of what we wanted; light natural wooden roman shades. After comparing the materials and weaves, we chose inside mount dark roman blinds with top, down shades and a white blackout lining. On the morning of the afternoon measuring appointment, I got summoned for an afternoon meeting at work. I called the store and (I can't remember his name!) was able to work me into the schedule earlier than planned. The following week, Eric called in the morning and asked if an earlier installation time would work for me since he had the time and was nearby. It worked much better for me, and I was pleased that he had called as it saved me from waiting around the house all afternoon. I'm also glad I had been paying attention during the measuring because when Eric began installing the first blind, I knew it didn't look right. I had ordered (and the previous worker had measured for) inside mount. Eric was putting up a blind so that it looked like an outside mount. It turns out that the large center shade had been mislabeled as the left shade. Once that was figured out, installation was quick. My new blinds are beautiful and I am very pleased. The blinds cost more than the original estimate, but I had been told that was a possibility because when ordering we only had rough measurements. I specifically wanted a professional to take the measurements because most of the angles in my home are askew.
