Description of Work: I was selling my home by short sale through them from Jan. 2012-approximately beginning of November 2012. I don't believe James Nellis properly advised me. After the house still didn't sell by May 2012, he told me if I moved out it would sell quicker. First I responded that maybe I should just stay and take the house off the market until it got better. He told me no I wasn't thinking straight. I advised them well in advance that any utility bills and county trash, water, etc coming in after I moved I couldn't afford to pay as I had to pay movers, deposits and leasing. James said no problem. When the August county bill came in I paid it as I didn't move out until July 2nd although I was paying rent in the new place starting June 16th. | | When the October utility bill came in I showed them that that was theirs, but they refused to pay. I was still paying for the telephone to stay on so the alarm system would work too. He really skinned me alive on that deal. Everything he promised to do they reneged on. I would never use them again nor would I recommend them to anyone!! Listening to James Nellis was the worst decision I ever made in my life. When his mother (Vicki Nellis) was alive and ran the agency it was about what was best for the customer. James is about making the deal; so he can make profit.

+ -1 moreI have had three transactions with the Nellis group since 2004 and they have all gone smoothly (at least on our side). James is a very knowledgeable and professional Real Estate agent and knows the northern Virginia area very well. The rest of the Nellis staff were pleasant and responsive to work with as well. Most of my 2013 contract process was handled digitally (until closing day) which made the whole transaction fast and relatively painless. The Nellis group appears to do a relatively high volume of home sales but I never felt like I was placed second to anybody else. I will continue to use the Nellis group for future home transactions and would recommend them to my friends looking to buy or sell a home in this crazy housing market.

+ -1 moreWhatever you always correspond with the client! You don't just drop it, especially when you are the one in error.
Description of Work: It was a short sale and I paid attorney fees of $2,500 which is not in dispute, along with all associated home owner cost because I was told it would help get the house sold although it was a considerable hardship to me. Toward the end of the process Nellis Group made certain promises that they did not fulfill and ignored calls and correspondence associated with their promises. Their unprofessionalism in the matter left the responsibility to me to handle the matter when I could least afford it. I would not use this company again,as it does not have the same values as it did under Vicki Nellis leadership the former CEO and co-founder..

+ -1 moreWe contacted them on March 31, 2010. We bought the house on April 30, 2010. The price was fine. They charged 3%, which is normal. They did an excellent job. They priced the house to be sold, had a stager and get the house ready. They taught us how to stage the house. They even helped us finding a new house. They just did a great job. They were very friendly.
Description of Work: I used the services of Nellis Group for selling our old house and buying a new house. I used them last March.
