Description of Work: Working with this company has been a terrible experience. We were so optimistic about the referral and only mildly disappointed last Monday when Mr. Jordan showed up with a bathroom plan that included a tub instead of a shower as we had asked for in an email with pictures of the shower door and shower. Mr. Jordon had never seen the bathroom before entering the contract and in response to his New Client Questionnaire’s request for “specific requirements for your space or any further details” we had referred to the emailed pictures of the shower. Finally, the contract acknowledged Mr. Jordan needed only “finalize the designs that the Owner has already started.” Upon leaving our house last Monday, we asked Mr. Jordan to factor in the shower and let us know the difference, if any, in the estimated construction price. He replied quickly that it would be an additional $2000 to $4000, explained why, and noted that moving the drain could be an additional cost on top of that. In order to proceed wisely, we asked him to give us some time to talk about it and not to do any further work. We then spoke with Mr. Jordan about our concern and inquired about starting the process from scratch. He asked that we reduce our request to writing so that he could forward it to his attorney. We did so and in accordance with the contract terms, issued him a cure notice for failure to comply with the terms of the contract. His attorney disagreed and sent us a bill that asserted we owed Mr. Jordon $220 more than our $3,600 retainer fee for his services and for terminating the contract. We have responded with a notice that we are terminating the contract for his failure to proceed in accordance with its terms and have initiated an alternate dispute resolution process through Angie’s list, a company that has been extremely helpful under the circumstances. After our first post, Mr. Jordan’s attorney contacted us regarding what they considered were “false, misleading and defamatory” statements within our initial post and demanded that we retract the entire post or Mr. Jordan would pursue legal action to obtain relief for damages caused by the defamatory statement. Although we disagree that the statements were defamatory, we have amended our entry to remove the statements that gave Mr. Jordan concern and have resubmitted this factual recounting. We have never filed a negative complaint about any contractor or business before.
