Description of Work: I have been using J and L Tree Services since they starated their business. Most recently I asked them to give me an estimate and do the work on my elderly friends dead tree. My friend could not call herself, so I called for her. They came over and gave an estimate and did the work. They were kind, polite and did a great job chopping down the tree and drilling out the root. My friend was happy with their work and I was happy too because I recommended them to her. They really are professional in all aspects of their work and they really clean up the debris from the tree when they cut it down. They cut down an old dead tree.

Description of Work: I am very pleased with the work JL tree did for us. They did a great job pruning a huge tree and completely removed a very large Wild Cherry tree that was in danger of falling on our home. They cleaned the work area very well and were extremely responsive.

Description of Work: JL Tree service came to my home on a Saturday, June 9th, at the scheduled appt time and walked my property as we discussed what I wanted done, and also to see if they saw issues with my trees. I am surrounded by huge Silver Maples and Red Oak trees that are 60+ years old. They were the 2nd of three services I called for estimates. They were the only ones that carried a clip board, made notes, discussed options, made observations. They were not the least expensive, but from Angies list review and my gut, I went with them. I signed the proposal on Monday, June 11th and they were at my house on Friday, June 15th, promptly at 9:00 am. A crew of 4, a bucket truck, and a chipper. These guys were amazing. They were professional & polite, asked questions before starting the actual trimming work. They trimmed limbs overhanging my neighbors house and my house on both sides. They were true arborists, thinking of the trees, not just whacking them back. In addition, they cut down a sick, six story tall Red Oak in my back yard. I am a gardener and was very concerned about plant damage. When they left, other than me, you would never know I had major tree work done. Not a scrap, leaf or stick was to be found. Amazing!

Description of Work: We had a decaying black locust removed from our backyard. This was the third black locust JL removed for us. The other trees were removed during 2011 and 2010. Each time we called the company they were very responsive and the estimator (Jose) came out to our property very quickly. If I could not be present Jose called me when he was at our residence so we could discuss the work that was needed or my concerns. Each job they have performed for us to date has gone without issue. For the last tree removal our backyard was messed up a bit when the tree fell on the soft ground. The crew explained that the tree fell harder than normal because they didn't want to use a good tree to brace the fall for the tree they were taking down. The company sent out another crew a few days later to resod the yard that was messed up. Needless to say, we would use JL again for tree removal services

Description of Work: JL removed a red oak that was over 100 ft in height, with a trunk cross-section of approximately 48 inches. It had very large dead limbs overhanging a neighbor's fence. The damage to adjacent trees from their work was minimal. They avoided any damage to the fence. The crew was very professional. They came on time, and finished the job in 1-1/2 days. Would definitely use them again.

Description of Work: JL was one of three tree companies that I contacted to perform removal of a downed tree and trimming of a number of other trees on our property. JL's estimate was the most reasonable one we received. In addition, I have a relative who owns a tree service company on the west coast, so I was able to check with him to make sure the work being proposed and the pricing was within reason and made sense. JL did not ask for any payment in advance like one of the other companies we contacted. The four man crew JL sent to our house was prompt, hard-working and thorough. They worked with me on a small change I requested on the spot. When the crew was finished with the tree work they took the time to clean up the lawn and yard. We are very happy with the service and would use JL again and recommend them to anyone who needs tree work done.

Description of Work: JL Tree was very quick to give us an estimate for removing two trees and their stumps. They were slow to call me to schedule the work. They gave me a firm date and time they would arrive. We removed three sections of our fence and blocked off a couple of parking spaces on the street so they would have easy access to our back yard. And waited. They didn't show up. When I tried to call them after two hours, it was difficult to reach a person. After three attempts to reach them, I finally got a call back from John. He seemed astounded that I didn't know they were too busy with storm work to come and do the job they had scheduled for us. If he had called and told me, it would have been a different story, but this company doesn't communicate well at all.

Description of Work: Removed 5 trees, one very big and very close to the house. Trimmed another tall tree over the pool. They used a crane to keep debris, etc from falling on house or onto pool cover. They cleaned up completely. Crew of 5 worked hard from 9:15 to almost 5:00. They arrived on time, and there were no problems. Price was reasonable. I would use them again.
