Every aspect of the job went well. That's why I have been a customer of JL Tree Service for 21 years. They provide excellent service at good prices.

The crew came early in the morning on the date and time agreed upon. Two crews worked on the trees separately at the same time. All of the work was performed exactly as agreed upon. Limbs were removed from the silver maple making it safer for my residence and the neighbors. The red maple looks much safer and the cutting done in the rotten area now has a chance to grow new bark and allow the tree to survive. All of the wood was removed and ground up in a chipper, the area was cleaned up very well. All of the work was performed in a little over an hour. I was given a 10% discount off of the original estimate. JL Tree Service did an outstanding job and my wife and I can continue to have piece of mind regarding the trees on our property.

I give and A on all accounts. They came by did an estimate for tree removal. I felt it was reasonable. I signed and faxed it in. Next day they came and did the work..I asked for a price to go beyond the original scope of the estimate and take out a few other trees..they replied $xxx I said a lower number was all that I could pay for that extra...they said ok...I said ok ..they did the work. Took out some very hard to get to trees --on a hill-- did a great job of cleaning up..no brush or chainsaw wood chip residue all over the place. Did exactly what I wanted and left the place in the condition I had hoped they would. Next part I liked was the billing. I needed two invoices and two receipts..as one was insurance reimbursible. They were friendly about it and ran the charge as I has asked..and emailed me a scan of the receipts and invoices exactly when they said they would. And they honored their online coupon without any guff, even after I had negotiated the price down a bit. So in summary from A to Z I was completely satisfied with the work and customer service, and will be the 1st place I call if I have any further tree issues

I selected JL Tree service because several neighbors recommended them and they had by far the lowest bid. As it turned out, they were actually bidding to do less work than the next lowest bidder. When the workmen arrived, the team leader clarified that the bid did NOT include completely removing a large tree limb from our neighbor's tree; it was just for removing dead wood. I asked them to add this to the job, which of course increased the cost. The resulting cost was approximately the same as the next lowest bid. So they were still in the lower end of the bids I obtained, but not really lower than the 2nd lowest bid. The workmen did the job efficiently and carefully. I was happy with the results as they removed material from several trees that we were concerned about impinging on our house and electrical connections. They were careful not to drop branches on the house or other bushes. They cleaned up completely after finishing the work. I might use them again, although I would be more careful about clarifying exactly what work the bid covers in the future.

We called three companies from those highly rated on Angie's list. JL Tree Services, Inc. came in with the middle bid in cost but the swaying factor was that a crane was needed to take these trees down and JL Tree owns one whereas Bartlett Tree advised it was going to have to rent one - for $1,000! It took them a while to come out to give a bid and once we faxed in the signed contract we did have to wait about two weeks to hear from them about scheduling the work but we contributed that to their being swamped due to all the terrible storms we've had in the DC area lately . They were scheduled to come on a day following one of these bad storms and we took off work to meet them but they called fairly early that morning to say they needed to cancel because of other customers with more urgent needs- which was okay because we were still able to go into work that day and were just thankful we weren't in that group. We were able to get the next appointment for a Saturday at 9am and promptly at 8:50 they rolled up with the crane, wood chipper and six men. It was an impressive procedure to witness! Because the ground was so wet it was decided not to use the crane on the 120 foot tree as it would have torn up the lawn pretty bad so one of the men climbed that tree and expertly removed branches and topped of the tree before falling it onto an adjacent vacant lot-with the owners permission. He was amazing and I got it all on video! They used the crane on the 85 foot tree and cut and neatly stacked the fireplace sized logs. They cleaned up ALL the limbs and chipped them and left us the mulch. It took them about 2.5 hours. We were very please with the whole process, would use them again in the future and recommend them to anyone needing trees removed.

The negotiating with work crew left me very frustrated. And really very surprised at what passes at customer service these days. I thought I earned some good will by giving them bottled water on at 90 plus degree day, guess not.

Performed professionally and left the site very clean.

I was placing my home on the market and needed some trees removed that the real estate lady said would help the value. I called JL again, since I have worked with them in the past. Once again they came out gave me a written estimate and I approved the work and with in 2 weeks we were finished. They also provided top notch service for me and my family, detailed and nice to work with. I never feel that I am getting the run around with them. Highly recommend them.

First contact, upon request for estimate, was prompt, helpful and professional; Ronnie, the estimator, came when I was away from home; he contacted me later by phone and gave me an estimate and explained thew process. It took three contacts (over two weeks) after we faxed our acceptance to get the work scheduled; this was the only glitch, and it was minor. Removal crew (Hector, I think, was in charge of the crew of three) arrived on schedule and removed both trees within four or five hours; they removed virtually all the debris, down to twig size; I thought they were friendly and efficient. About two weeks later a smaller crew showed up unannounced and ground the stump down to a large pile of mulch material, which they left in place; the unannounced arrival was not an issue, as I understood in advance that this was possible. Overall, I was very satisfied with JL, and wouldn't hesitate to call them again for tree work.

A huge oak tree fell on my property on April 9, 2010 while I was at work. When I got home my neighbor had already called J L Tree Service and they had arrived to give him an estimate. I asked for one as well. They performed the work for my neighbor the next day cutting up the tree, removing the brush and cutting the lumber and stacking it up. Based upon their esitmate I called on Monday and approved the work on the condition that it would be completed on Wednesday. The estimate was for $2300 to remove the tree and $1500 to cut down the remaining tree. I was told to e-mail the authorization which I did. On Wednesday I called to confirm they would be coming. They could not find their estimate - they knew nothing about their commitment on Monday and claimed they could not do the work for over 2 weeks despite the fact that they had completed my neighbors the next day! My interaction with them was a complete waste of time.

At first, it was easy to get an estimate. The guy I talked to was very professional and polite. With my request, he came to my house and provided an estimate although I wasn't home. He left the estimate at my front door. After I decided to hire this company to do the work, the pain started. I informed them I would like to have them do the work, and I was told someone will contact me for the scheduling. For the next 1 week and half, I called 6 times to figure out the schedule , and left numerous voicemails with details. No one contacted me. Then, I finally talked to the customer service and let her know if I couldn't know the schedule by the end of the day, I will look elsewhere. She immediately ask someone to call me back in 5 mins. They schedule the work for the very next day without a time. When I get home the next day, the tree stump is already removed and the invoice was left at my front door. I am satisfied with the work done.

I looked at three different companies on Angie's List and they had the best price. They did a do a good job with the work and responded right away to my needs. They finished the job on time and I would use them again if needed.

Overall the service is very good. It took a bit of time to get it scheduled but they were prompt and professional. Plus it seemed like they were the only tree service who were open to do a "small job".

Everything went really well. They were on time and they did the work well. There were no extra charges and no hassles, and it turned out great. It did take a few days to schedule, but once we did schedule the appointment they got right on it. I was very happy with them.

This is the third time I have used J.L. Tree Service for tree removal. Each time they have been prompt, neat, professional, and economical. In this case they quoted me $1100 less than another recommended company, doing the same work with the same type of equipment--a huge difference for a job of this size. Since I already knew they did good work, I went with J.L. Tree Service. Mike does the estimates. He shows up on time, explains the work thoroughly, and leaves a written estimate that is good for about a year. When I decided to go ahead with the job, I was able to schedule it within a week, and the crew actually showed up a little early. They removed a huge tree in about 2 hours, were cleaned up and gone 30 minutes later. The stump grinder came a few days later and did the same great job. Did they get every tiny twig off the lawn? No. But they got 99.9% of them, and for such a great price, I can pick up a few sticks. In the future, I probably won't even bother to get estimates from anyone else.

This is the second time I've hired JL Tree Service. Mike gives the estimates and is knowledgeable and friendly. I haven't had any problems scheduling with them. If you are having a tree trimmed, I would request Al, a terrific tree climber. He gets every last dead limb and cuts the exact limbs you ask him to. The whole crew is professional, they work fast and do a great job of cleaning up. On this most recent job, though, they were an hour late arriving to my house.

I called them on Monday to say we received the estimate and would like to schedule time for them to come and remove trees. They said it would take 4-5 days. When I didn't hear back after a few days they said I would receive a call in a few more days to schedule. It may take longer due to the schedule rain we were expecting. Then the very next day they came to the house and performed the work. We had no idea they were coming over. They just showed up without notify us. Scheduling with this company is very difficult.

They offered the best price and some of my neighbors have used them, so I hired them to do the job. The location is tricky with the tree right next to a fence and a deck with multiple small trees below. The removal guys did a good job protecting the small trees. My only problem was when a giant piece of trunk ruined part of my landscape when it landed on it hard. The grinding took very little time with their nifty machine. Overall it was a good experience. They had a bit of a problem scheduling things. They failed to call when they were supposed to. But overall I liked them and will definitely hire them again.

Extremely well. Mike came out (certified Arborist) to do the estimate. He was extremely consultative and knowledgeable about trees. I wasn't sure what types of trees I had and he explained everything. I had had other quotes and told to cut the tree down, remove large limbs and that dead limbs would invite termites and kill the tree. Mike's view was trees in the forest don't get dead limbs cut out and they live a long time. Unless there is a safety issue, leave them there. We took some limbs down for safety reason but did a lot less work than my other quotes had suggested. I see their truck around my neighborhood a lot so they seem to be doing very well with their straight forward approach.

It went very well. JL came and did an estimate within a day of my calling them. They did a thorough job and steered me away from unnecessary work that I initially wanted to have done, they did the contracted worked and cleaned up the mess and removed what must have been a few truck loads of some very large branches. Unfortunately one of my double-paned, gas-sealed, windows was broken (of course by accident) and JL Tree hired Vienna glass at the cost of nearly $400.00 to replace the window. Accidents are sometimes unavoidable when doing tree work and the true measure of a company is how they deal with such things. JL Tree without hesitation took care of their mistake at their cost and without the normal run-around and frustration that a jaded individual like myself would expect from a contractor. I cannot rate them highly enough.

The estimate was done over the cell phone since I was out of town. I had sent pictures to the arborist and we arranged an appointment to call me when he was at the property. We discussed what had to be done and they fit me in to the schedule since I was only going to be in VA. for a few day while I had my house painted. The crew came and they were fast and effiscent. They cleaned up and left. Then someone came by to check the job. Everyone was very nice.

They did an excellent job and my tree looks beautiful. I would highly recommend them. They cleaned up all their mess when they were done with the work.

Our experience with JL Tree Service was excellent. They ground the stump out without any problems and the price was much less than other estimates we received. When it came time to remove dead branches and elevate our large Oak trees, JL Tree Service again had a very competitive price. Their service was excellent - the trees were thinned and they worked with us to determine which branches to remove. They cleaned up the entire mess so the yard was cleaner when they began. We've since referred them to friends.

They gave us an estimate and it is always what they charge. They are reliable and professional. You don't pay until the service is completed. They did a nice job of cleaning up all the debris.
