Description of Work: He takes care of small projects or any handyman needs around our home including; painting, trim work and minor carpentry.

Description of Work: After having contacted basement waterproofing companies that wanted to charge between $5,000 to $15,000 to install a water drainage system inside the house for a water leak entering near a basement window. After doing more research and cutting out more drywall to try and get an idea of where this water could be entering. I came to the conclusion that paying thousands of dollars to redirect water entering the basement still would not solve the issue of the water entering the home. So I called Angie's List and asked for recommendations for a company to come out to give an estimate and see if there was around the window frame inside the window well that could be sealed up and prevent any further water from entering from that point. First I called a window company and they recommended I call Jim The Handyman (Angie's List customer support also had Jim The Handyman as one of the companies I should contact). After the initial estimate, I was very anxious to schedule an appointment immediately because this water enter through this void around the window frame had cause water damage to the insulation, carpet, padding, tac boards all of it was filled with mold and mildew. The smell was so bad I had a heap filter air purifier and a large dehumidifier running in that room closed off for almost two months. Since I have asthma and I'm also allergic to mold and mildew it was a must to get this sealed up as soon as possible. | |Now it's only been just over a week and I have water tested the window a few times to see if any water is entering and so far everything looks good. Today will be the final test before we re install new insulation, drywall, new tac boards, padding and carpeting as well as painting the entire room over again. | |The only issue I had was scheduling & getting the two estimates in a timely fashion but I do understand that they were understaffed at that moment due to a family emergency so I would not hold that against this company at all. | |The most important thing is they came out, sealed where the water seemed to be entering the basement and unlike the other company who wanted to perform work to redirect the water entering the home. Jim the Handyman actually went to the root of the problem in preventing water from coming in the basement anymore. In the process saving our family thousands and thousands of dollars. | |It may not have been the largest job or the most profitable job from accompany stand point but they did the job the correct way and never once tried to take advantage of a situation that most others would have tried to. This quality is rare and I will absolutely call Jim the Handyman for future projects because they do what's right for the customer.

Description of Work: Jim did an awesome job, he hung a mantel and made new stairs for the garage. He's punctual, courteous and is very fair in his price. He works effectively and quickly. I will definitely use him in the future.

Description of Work: Dry wall and plaster applied. He suggested we find someone else to do the sanding and painting so this was a surprise to me.

Description of Work: Changed hardware on all inside doors, secured locks on front door, a few other things but can't remember. They are very reliable, and their work was tops quality.

Description of Work: I can't rave enough about Jim the Handyman. I am sorry that I had procrastinated so long before I contacted him. Jim showed up almost on the minute that he said he would for the initial estimate. I had a laundry list of aged interior handyman jobs for him. Roz called me the day before to confirm the appointment. |Lukas came to my house exactly on time and did a superb job in handling all the various different tasks before him. He was highly professional, courteous, asked good questions, and most importantly had a positive attitude towards his work and the customer --it's been a long time since I've experienced this with a company. I would use Jim the Handyman again without hesitation.

Description of Work: Two men from this company arrived on time and started to work. They replaced 8 porch screens, repaired and re-screened the porch door, and re-stained 10 wood shutters around the house. The were polite, professional, answered any of our questions and did a great job. We would not hesitate to recommend this company for any repair work that needs to be done to a house.

Description of Work: I made an appt. for an estimate. It was three weeks off when I made it and the woman making the appt was really not very nice. On June 8th the person was to show up between 8:30-9:30 am. He never showed up and didn't call. The woman making the appt told me in a nasty sort of way that they were very busy. Well so am I. I will never call them again. No excuse for standing up an appt., and if they stand up an appt what will they do when you hire them. Take five weeks to do a job that should take 2 hours? Never!

Description of Work: Repaired some fairly extensive rotten wood at bottoms of molding around my front door; repaired loose wood behind gutters ; repaired rotten wood on fascia/soffet behind gutters in a few places. Work went very well - on time, high quality, very professional.

Description of Work: Do to a pipe leak there was a large hole cut into my dining room wall & part of the ceiling. Also damage due to leakage from a storm. Both were repaired beautifully.
