Jim the Handyman

He is a good guy. One thing he did that was nice was the coupon he offers through Angie's List, I was able to mention this and he honored it. I appreciate that and his honesty with the situation.

From start to finish, everything went very well. Arrived punctually for both giving an estimate and the actual work. (And both times I got a call the day before to remind me of the time to expect Mr. Taylor.) The work is priced based on the project, not the amount of time (except for the painting which cost $85/hour). There was no charge for supplies or travel time. All of the work took about 6 hours, including 2 hours for touch-up painting. I found Mr. Taylor worked diligently. My husband had marked where he wanted the shelves to go, and Mr. Taylor noticed that the indicated places were not all of the same height although that seemed to be what we wanted. Mr. Taylor asked how to proceed rather than guessing or simply following instructions and hanging the shelves so they would be at uneven heights (we had measured inaccurately so Mr. Taylor's inquiry allowed us to get the shelves hung the way we wanted). There were some minor drops of paint on the floor, but I got it up immediately. And Mr. Taylor went back and re-did some of the painting at my request after I went through and checked the work.

My ceiling repair was so good that my very critical friend told me that if he "had not seen the hole before the repair he would not have believed it was there." Good job, Kelly! I will use Jim the Handyman again.

Two gentleman worked all day, nonstop and completed the job in 1 day. They were clean, polite, with a no nonsense attitude. Did a great professional job.

Rox promptly returned my call to set up an appointment for an estimate; Kelly showed up when agreed upon, as he did when the work was scheduled. The estimate was in line with others I received. Kelly was fast, neat, and highly professional. The tile surrounding the tub now looks as I imagine it did 70+ years ago when it was new. I am very pleased, as I was with work done by another employee last year. Will definitely call them again!

Their serive was wonderful. They had a good value for the price. They were very considerate. Each one of these little jobs had a problem attached with it and they were very good about finding the problem and being able to resolve it. I would definitley use them again for future work.

He arrived on time for the free estimate and we scheduled the work for the same week. He completed everything in a day.

Excellent. Jim's wife answers the phone/sets up the appointments. She's very responsive and great to work with. Two brothers, Kelly and Luke, were friendly, and came and worked long hours, into the evening every day. They did an excellent job, and let themselves in/out w/ a key we supplied them (we were out of town for a portion of the work, and they were responsible/locked up, etc). They covered things to prevent drywall dust from going all over. They cleaned up well/were neat. As mentioned above, they did additional work that we requested last minute, which wasn't in the original price quote, but was done fairly.

When it came to the cracks, I did not like the solution that he used; a lot of the cracks are back. So I thought that, instead of using more of the water plaster, he might have used thicker plaster maybe and also used paint in some places. I am sure that it probably would have cost more but I kind of felt that's what was needed. I have to go back and fix a lot of the stuff. The only issue with him is that, when he comes in and does the quotes, I kind of feel that he under quotes himself. He should give himself enough time and I think that really puts stress on him. One other thing that I really love is the lady that is in charge of the phone, she is incredibly professional.

The basement rec room in my 70 year old house was not a pleasant place to be. Additionally, the bathroom and laundry room had been partly redone several years ago by a family member whom I had to "fire" for poor work quality and SLOW progress. Michael was able to transform the three rooms so that they are finished and now the rec room, with new lighting, furniture, and tv, is finally a place where my three teenage sons and their friends are happy to hang out! Now I can sometimes have my living room to myself! Michael showed up when he said (both for the estimates and work), worked quickly and very neatly, and was a pleasure to work with. I cannot recommend Michael and Jim the Handyman highly enough.

Jim arrived on time. He went right to work and did a good job. I will call him again when I need a handyman.

I had a fine experience with Jim. It was a small job and he did a good job. He was timely and clean throughout the project. I felt that the price was reasonable.

The shower door works great. The kitchen cabinet looks excellent.

Jim's service is very customer service oriented, from the office staff to his personal interaction with me. He came out to give me a free estimate on time. I asked Jim what steps he uses to treat a rusting railing and his process of sanding, applying basecoat, then painting the railing is what I wanted but found that many handymen cut out the basecoat step. The front office called to remind/verify the appointment, which I like and feel is very professional. I like the fact he provides receipts?this was expected by me of all companies but have recently found some smaller companies don?t provide them. Overall, I was very pleased with Jim the Handyman?s service.

Very responsive. Good follow-up from the front office. Sean was the lead workman, and had two others assist. Sean has his act together. At the end of the first day, most of the work was done, though a couple of loose ends remained that the assistants had not fully completed. Sean came back out a couple of days later to verify the items and finished everything up the following day. Scheduled about a week in advance. Roz at the office kept right on top of things, calling to confirm appointments the day before and following up right away after work was done. They showed up right on time for the estimate and for the work. A good outfit I will use again.

Overall, I was very pleased with the responsiveness and professionalism of the staff who worked on the job as well as the quality of work. They were very prompt in returning my call asking for an written estimate and in scheduling the estimate and subsequent work. Michael from Jim The Handyman did excellent work, was very responsive to questions, and pleasant to deal with. I will definitely use Jim the Handyman for future projects.

Dave arrived promptly to estimate the job. While here, at my request, he adjusted an interior door he had installed for me last February. (My house had settled and the door had begun sticking.) The job itself was completed over a 2-day period, and Dave arrived as scheduled both days. He completed all the work in a professional manner and even pointed out to me that another door he had previously installed needed adjusting, which he immediately did. We had originally planned for him to also paint the trim on a bay window, but when he started scraping old paint, he discovered the window panes needed reglazing, so I asked him to stop that project. (I decided to instead invest the money in a new energy-efficient window.)

He is punctual, responsive and professional. The quality of his work was good.

It was an excellent experience and I have used him before to do small jobs as well. He always responded and told me if he could not do something and recommended people I could call instead. He is professional and punctual.

He did a nice job with what he did. He was very limited and won?t do any plumbing or any electricity work even if it is just changing the shower. He showed up on time and I think his price was a little high.

I found him in Angie's list. He is terrific and outstanding. He knew what he was doing and did it quickly. He was professional.

They were two of them and it took a full day for them to finish all of the work. The overall experience was really great. They had originally told us that it was going to take 2 days for the project but instead they sent 2 people out and got it done in one day. That was great because at the time I was very pregnant. I also had a toddler and keeping him away from the work was a struggle so getting it done quickly was important to me. Also, their price was lower than the other estimates we had received from other companies.
