Jim the Handyman

It was a very positive experience. I have a very busy schedule and it was easy to accommodate that with Jim. He came by one evening to look at the laundry list of items that needed repairing. For two items that he did not handle, he recommended someone who will be fixing those items in the near future. Jim provided a written estimate and on the day of service, arrived when expected, got straight to work, was efficient, and completed all tasks in quick fashion. I was very pleased with the work, the price, and the experience. I will definitely use Jim again when other items in my home need repair.

The work was performed on two separate days (due to the special order door was being built) Jim installed the door frame and door in the downstairs hallway in a few hours. To install the frame, he needed to install an anchor on one side where there was no stud in the wall. The door is solid and looks very good. A few weeks after the first portion, Jim installed the bi-fold closet doors. He removed the old doors and track, then installed the new ones. The doors look fantastic. However, the reason for the B rating instead of A in quality is because one of the bi-fold doors sticks slightly when closing. To be fair, this may be the manufacturer's fault, and not Jim's. Additionally, I have yet to contact Jim about the door sticking, so it may be able to be remedied. I will update the review if it is. Overall, Jim was great to work with, and I would definitely use his services again.

Overall the services were just fine.

For each job they arrived on the time stated and did not have me waiting. I feel they did a great job on each of their jobs. I would use them again when the need should arrive.

We had vandalism in our neighborhood that destroyed several mailboxes on our street. I called Jim and he came and replaced the mailbox and painted the stand within a few days of the event. While he was there, I asked him to provide me a quote on various projects - the most important being the repair of the drywall around a window that had leaked during last summer's major storm. He wrote it all down and provided me a quote on the spot. I then worked with his wife Roz (who is very nice by the way) to schedule a date. JIm and his son Mike came to our house yesterday morning and performed all services in ~2 hours. Everything looks just great! They were very professional, focused and the results reflect their standards of quality.

When a bracket holding my closet rod and shelf broke, I thought I could fix it myself by simply buying and installing a new bracket. The project was complicated by issues with the original installation and the fact that the manufacturer of the bracket had redesigned the piece. I knew I needed help from a pro and turned to Angie's List for a reference -- couldn't live without it! I contacted Jim The Handyman and Ros efficiently coordinated a same-day rescue by Luke, who made modifications to the newly designed bracket in order to remedy the situation in only a half hour. He displayed ingenuity and inventiveness. I was impressed with his professionalism.

They were everything we wanted as far as being neat and tidy. They really went above and beyond. The patio door had been there for 30 years. When they removed it, they found that the support board underneath it was completely rotted and disintegrated. The guy that originally did it didn't follow code and it was done illegally. They had to redo the wiring and they did it as it should have been done. It should have been a 4 hour job but it turned into being 12 hours. They stayed from 9 am to 9 pm to do the job and they did it very well. The price was very fair. It wasn't cheap or expensive but it was less than what we were expecting. It included an Anderson door that was top of the line. They will be our source for handyman work in the future.

The estimate was provided by another workman, and I elected to have the job completed by his colleague given my desire to get the work done sooner. Each encounter (by phone, in person) was professional and cordial.

Good quality repairs were made in a very timely fashion.

I would give him an A for overall service. He did exactly what my wife asked for.

Very easy to schedule estimate and date of repairs around our desired dates. Prompt, professional, good quality. Vwe had a list of ten items in need of repair and Jim had no problem taking care of all of them.

Set an appointment for an estimate on tile work in our bathroom. We couldn't get an appointment for a week. They attempted to call 24 hours before the appointment time but did not reach us until the next morning. At that time they cancelled the appointment for that day and, after much debate with themselves on when they could reschedule, it was looking like it would be another week before they could come out. I decided to go with someone else at that point. Very disappointing and I would never use folks that treated customers in this fashion. It was extremely disappointing and unprofessional!

He is a very nice guy. He did a perfect job.

We were quite satisfied with his performance and service. He was courteous and a good communicator. I was entirely pleased with his work. We liked him very well. He was very ethical.

David Harris was very professional, explaining everything in detail before hand, and then afterward, what was had he had found and what he had to do to fix the problem. He did a clean expert job and I would hire him back for the next job!

Jim and Roz were very responsive, punctual and provided an excellent estimate prior to service. The installation of the new front door was done perfectly and in a very timely fashion. As the landlord, I appreciated that they worked with me and my tenants to be sure everyone was in the loop on the timeline and work to be accomplished.

They were not good. They had really good reviews, but I was really disappointed when the guy came to do my work. Jim, the owner had to come back to fix things and didn't really fix anything. They refunded me $150. When I called I spoke with the wife and said they were only out for 2 hours. The wife said, well he brought a helper. I had my security cameras on and there was no helper on the cameras. She told me my security cameras weren't working.

Jim arrived promptly on the day scheduled and completed all the work to my satisfaction. I have used his service before and will continue to do so in the future. I find his service to be very reliable.

The work was performed by two men who completed the work in a single day. They were professional and pleasant and the work was excellent.

Provided a prompt estimate of work and cost (much more professional than another contractor I contacted). Very informative and helpful about the work that needed to be done and probably saved me a considerable amount of money. Arrived to perform work as scheduled and completed work quickly and neatly. Very pleasant to deal with and I strongly recommend him to others.

Our contact with Jim was professional from beginning to end. We called and scheduled an appointment for an estimate (not easy as we both work but Jim was accommodating), the estimate was clear, and there was no pressure to make a decision immediately on the work. However, I was very comfortable with his professionalism and how he answered my questions, so we got our job put on his schedule immediately. I think we had to wait a few weeks to get on the schedule, but this as not emergency work so that was fine. I felt the price was very fair for all of the work we needed done, which included supplies for the new shelving and wood for the molding. The work was completed exactly as scheduled. The molding work looks beautiful, the cabinet doors now close and the doors no longer stick. However, what I had described to Jim about how we wanted the cabinets done was, to be honest, not very clear, and my husband was not happy with the the final design (he was not present for the estimate). Jim came back out and changed them, just charging for the extra materials, and we are both very happy with the end result. We will definately use his services again!

Jim and his office staff (his wife) were very professional and a joy with which to work. His prices are pricey but you can trust him with your home. Jim will show up on time, get the work done promptly, do a good job, and stand behind his work.
