Jim the Handyman

He ordered the shades/blinds and the color was not even close to a match. By ordering the items it meant he could not send them back. Why he didn't go to Home Depot or Lowe's, I don't know. Now, I was forced to replace all the shades/blinds throughout a Townhouse.

Received the estimate via email, and made an appointment for the work to be done. Technician arrived promptly and did all the necessary work within the cost of the estimate. Work was done well, cleanup was complete.

Excellent! Our original Hardiplank siding had been installed 15 years ago. Areas where snow piled and sat against it during a harsh winter had caused portions of the siding to crumble and flake. There were two areas that needed new Hardiplank installed (the back of the house and one side of the house). Based on the great Angie's List reviews, I called Jim the Handyman. They quickly scheduled an appointment to come out to the house and give us an estimate. They got back to me in a few days with a very reasonable and detailed estimate. The work was scheduled for the following week. Carlos did the work and did a fantastic job! His work was meticulous. He carefully removed the old Hardiplank boards, checked behind them to look for possible water damage or intrusion (none found), installed the new Hardiplank boards which matched exactly, and then had the paint matched so that the new Hardiplank color would match and blend with the old. (He caulked the areas where appropriate.) There were a few rotted trim boards that he also replaced and painted. Our house now looks great! He worked very carefully and meticulously - overall did a wonderful job! He also cleaned up the area beautifully after completing the job. He was also very careful about where he placed his ladder so as not to damage any landscaping. We were very impressed by his attention to detail and fine skills. A true pleasure to work with! work is okay but extremely overpriced.

We were very pleased with the work done by Jose from Jim The Handyman. Jose was very punctual, friendly, and did quality work. Some of the prices quoted for other work we had considered were a little high (including the hourly rate for hanging things), so we're postponing those jobs. I would primarily recommend this company for individual jobs for which you can get itemized estimates ahead of time. They book up quickly, so they are best for less urgent work, as you may need to schedule 2-3 weeks out.

The plumber that we usually use told me this was a project he didn't manage. I reached out to Jim the Handyman, I received a response within 24 hours. Unfortunately Jim the Plumber couldn't help either, but gave me a reference to someone who could. Although Jim the Plumber didn't do the job, I'm very happy with the help he gave me, his prompt reply, and honesty. I won't hesitate to call on Jim the Plumber again for plumbing projects.

It went very well. The worker arrived on time and did a professional job. His work was neat and he cleaned up afterward.

Kelly has done a number of small jobs for me recently. He is very knowledgeable about his craft and works quickly but meticulously -- plus he is very congenial and easy to work with. Costs are very reasonable, generally based on time/materials, and are sometimes adjustable if jobs go more quickly or not as many materials are used. While some jobs require customer's own purchase of materials (i.e. deadbolt locks), Kelly has been particularly helpful in providing detailed information to assist me in preparing for future jobs. The office has also been very good about removing/adding jobs to an appointment as necessary. This is definitely my go-to company for home repairs and I do not hesitate to recommend them.

The estimator came to my house and told me the price would be about $100. Then I received an email telling me the price would be $230--a gross misrepresentation on their part. I then called and left messages and they finally got back to me the next day , only to tell me to book with them real fast. They never, ever addressed my concern about their pricing gross inconsistency. I will NEVER, EVER use them again. I do NOT like to be lied to.

Power washing of concrete and hardiplank did not show great improvement. Repair work to exterior doors a bit sloppy relative to appearance, but improvement to structural integrity appears to be fine.

Jose did an excellent job of enlarging the space to my specifications. He had to work in a confined space and his carpentry skills were excellent.

JTH was fantastic to work with. They responded quickly to my initial inquiry, and always arrived during the scheduled time window. They were friendly, professional, efficient, and always kept a clean work area. When they left for the day, the area was always cleaned up. I had to reschedule some parts of the work due to scheduling issues on my side, and JTH was understanding and flexible. I fully recommend JTH!

Two different workmen did the caulking a week or two apart. The first workman did a super job - scraped, cleaned and caulked with precision. The second did not do a good job - did not scrape, but rather just covered over the existing caulking. When this caulking began to peel away a few months later, I called Jim the Handyman to complain. The office was prompt and responsive and at my request sent out the first workman to redo the second workman's job. There was no cost for this repair and the work was done well. I was impressed with how Jim the Handyman handled this matter. I would definitely use them again.

Workmen never showed up after being on schedule for a month ... and several phone calls discussing work and confirming time. Unbelievably unreliable company with an "I don't care" attitude towards the customer.

The appointment was easy to make, the handyman arrived on time, was super efficient and the work came out very nice. I very much recommend Jim the Handyman based on this experience.

Excellent. Top quality work. I had received a written notice of the cost of each task, so I knew what the final cost would be before the work began. Other handymen I have used in the past charged by the hour, and I never knew what the final cost would be until it was finished. Plus, it was not easy to find someone who could and would tackle all the individual tasks Jim the Handyman technicians did. Those technicians are competent in many areas, work hard, and are very pleasant to have around. Their prices are reasonable, and I give them an A+ rating on everything. I won't t hesitate to hire them again in the future.

Inside work: The project went pretty well. The best part was that they had estimated that it would take two days, and, in spite of the fact that they ran into unforeseen complications, the crew worked overtime and completed 3 days of work in 2 days. There were supposed to be 3 workers, and there were only two, which slowed down the work. They said that the scheduler made a mistake. They discovered TWO layers of wallpaper on the walls, so removing the oldest layer took a very long time and was very tedious. The man who did most of the work was pretty sloppy with detail--losing screws to outlet covers, inadvertently filling in drapery bracket holes when I asked him not to, being a bit sloppy with the painting ( I had to do some patch-up work myself afterward), telling me to buy twice the amount of paint that was needed (which couldn't be returned because it was custom mixed). The man who did the crown molding made several mistakes so that the molding had to be patched. But they were hard workers and in the end everything looked great. The outside work was done very well and quickly. No complication or problems.

Quote process was quick & efficient. Different worker came to do the job vs. person who did my estimate, but they had been in contact with each other about my job. Communication with their office was excellent, as I had to reschedule my job date once. Worker was clean, friendly & efficient. Bot the estimator and worker were very knowledgeable and professional. I would recommend their services and would use them again, depending on estimated price. They are busy, so don't expect to have your job(s) done the next day or even same week. I didn't have all the work done that I asked them to quote, as their interior painting quote seemed very high - $600 to paint my small living room (168 sq. ft.) and $600 to paint my hallway going upstairs. They also wanted $40 to change a lightbulb in a hall light fixture that I couldn't reach because I don't have a place to store a big ladder.

Very well. The technician went out to shop for the right cap and then had to cut it to size.

They were prompt, courteous, and fairly priced. They did a very nice job. What more can you ask for? I will definitely be using them again for additional work.
