Great Service!! Jim personally answered the phone both times I called. The oven control board would not allow me to turn off the heat in my oven. Jim calmly walked me through an emergency shutoff and then scheduled a timely repair. They were prompt, courteous, knowledgeable and efficient. I highly recommend Jim Marshall & Company!! MaryAnn P. Jim Marshall Appliances was one the worst experiences I have ever had with a repair company. The repairmen broke our washing machine. I called them because I jammed the soap dispenser (the little plastic thing where you put soap in) and could not unjam it myself. While they were trying to unjam this, they broke the latch on the door. The repairman, Robert, told me that he had been pulling on the latch to try to open it, because they couldn't figure out why it wouldn't open. Well, my washing machine has an automatic timer on the door lock. It will not unlock for at least 3 minutes after you shut the door. Why they felt they had to open the door, I have no idea, as it had nothing to do with fixing the soap dispenser. Had they asked me (I was in the house), I could have told them about the timer. When I called Jim Marshall immediately after the service man left to let him know the latch was broken and the machine would not work, he said he'd send Robert out again without charge. Robert promised to return between 12-2 pm the next day. Instead of showing, Robert called me after 2:00 pm stating that it was going to cost me $499 + labor to get the control panel fixed (likely over $700!!!). When I told him that nothing had been wrong with the control panel prior to his working on the machine, Robert got very rude and defensive. So, I tried speaking to Jim Marshall and was told that Robert claimed that I'd put a screw driver in the control panel, which was a complete lie. Jim then proceeded to repeat the story that Robert had made up and told me that I'd broken the control panel. I pointed out that since neither he nor the repairman had looked at the washing machine door, they had no real basis for deciding what was wrong -- other than to disclaim responsibility. Jim insisted, however, that his repairmen don't break machines. He offered to send Robert back out and "reduce" the cost to repair this to a flat $475. Given how much a new washing machine costs, this was not a great bargain. Additionally, I refused to have a repairman who is rude and raises his voice at customers in my house. Since I already paid $150 to get the soap dispenser unjammed, I thought it was outrageous that I should have to pay more to fix something that a repairman broke. I found another repair company and had them come take a look at the washing machine. It took the guy literally 10 seconds to diagnose that the wires had been put back improperly. His invoice reads "Reconnected the door lock wire harness properly." He charged me $120 and my washing machine went back to work. I'd like to think that the improper wiring was done through sheer incompetence (which is bad enough). However, I do question why Jim Marshall Appliances did not even come back and look at the machine before telling me that it was going to cost $700+ to repair it.
Description of Work: I hired Jim Marshall Appliances to fix a jammed soap dispenser on my washing machine.

We have used them a couple of times over the years and they are very professional quite frankly. He always personally answers the phone call and he always calls you back. We never met him, but he seems like a very nice man. The two times we have used them; the employees are very nice and very professional. They are quick and they know what they are doing. To date I haven’t had any problems at all and Mr. Marshall calls to find out whether everything is okay. His price was reasonable, but it could have been a little better. His quality is excellent. He is very great at being responsive and he even calls you back. He is on time.
Description of Work: I used Jim Marshall & Co Major Appliance Service for a GE oven; the boiler had gone out and they replaced the burning element.

I was pleased. They came when they said they would and they came after hours so I didn't have to sit all day at home. They had evening appointments. He spoke English. They were better than anybody I've used and I would use them again.
Description of Work: I used Jim Marshall because my washing machine was leaking. They looked at it and they pronounced it was dead and unrepairable. I also had them look at my dryer because a fin came off. They put that back on and cleaned the dryer.

When our washer stopped working we called Jim Marshall and Co and a technician was at the house in about an hour. He repaired the malfunctioning washer in about 30 minutes. When the dryer went out we called Jim Marshall and Co again and a repairman arrived in about 2 hours. In both cases we were given an accurate estimate of their arrival time. Also in both cases the technician had the necessary repair parts in his van. Both experiences were very successful.
Description of Work: The washer stopped running. Then about a month later the dryer stopped heating.
