+ -1 moreOur family lost a big chunk of our home to a house fire in which all of the interior of the home had to be gutted and replaced. We chose Hava Tech for the competitive pricing and as a professional reference from a previous client of Hava Tech. As we were going through so much with renovations and being displaced, The owner of Hava Tech really simplified everything for us. I appreciated his Modus Operandi, which was very much focused on ensuring we got the best of the best service, equipment, and pricing and walking with us every step of the way. We are incredibly happy with the work that he performed on our home, which was not only the replacement of an entire HVAC system on a home, but educating us on how to use a modern system. Hava Tech worked in a timely fashion, most often finishing work prior to deadlines while keeping us updated on every step that was taken, and working very closely with our insurance company and adjusters which saved us a lot of time as well. We are very happy with the level of service Hava Tech provides, and will be calling on them for any future HVAC work.
Description of Work: The provider replaced the heating and A/C system end to end on a 4000 square foot home, including reworking ducts, installation of central air units, furnace, thermostats.

+ -1 moreWe bought this for our daughter at her house. Her a/c has a slow leak and each year she needs to add some Freon. The appointment was scheduled between noon and 5:00pm. She was supposed to get a call in the morning to give her a more narrow window of time so she would not miss so much work. No one called either her or us. When no one showed up by 4:30, we called them. They said they were running late. They showed up around 6:00 pm. The technician yelled at her for not changing the furnace filter. She handed him a new one and he changed it. He said she needed a new HVAC system. She said she was in college, working 3 jobs and could not afford one. He asked if she wanted him to call her parents. We don't own the property. Our daughter does. She felt belittled by his comments. Her a/c was frozen and he said he didn't have time to wait for it to thaw - about 20 minutes, he said. So, she got no Freon. I don't know if he did any kind of check on the furnace or a/c. He may have or he may not have. She felt like all he wanted was to sell her a new system. I understand the technician may have had a bad day but he should not take it out on the customer. Our daughter called another service provider who then gave her Freon.
Description of Work: Check HVAC and provide up to 1 unit of Freon.

+ -1 moreWe had to call them separately, so we had to have it serviced without the big deal. So we kind of paid money for the big deal, but never ended up using it because we had to call for earlier service. That was unfortunately how it turned out. I've been exchanging e-mails with the person to do just kind of an overall assessment, or whatever the deal was. But I needed them to come and fix something. He was good and responsive. He came right away and gave us some honest feedback.
Description of Work: We purchased a Big Deal for Hava Tech, but then before the date they would actually arrive, our AC gave problems, so we needed quicker service.

+ -1 moreHossein (I believe he is the owner) inspected my old unit and informed me of what I had been told by other technicians over the last two years: it was old and no amount of work would make it perform as well as I wanted it to. The difference is that he gave me a price for a new unit that was $3000 less than other companies because he was not trying to sell me other components which were not necessary at the time. The technicians like to start early in the day, so the new unit was up and running by early afternoon. They were friendly and professional. The whole experience makes Hava Tech well-deserving of their place on Angie's List.

+ -1 moreThey came out on time and fixed the problem. It was an easy fix. AC Unit had dust in in the ignition fan. They ran the full diagnostic. I asked if he could show me how to do it, at first he said just clean it out with a paper clip. Then he said you better call us. The same problem happened and I paid again. I think they wanted more business by not showing me how the remove the dust. I later had the same problem and spent a little time on the internet to learn how to fix it. I wish they had just showed me how, seemed like they were a little more into it for the money than I would have liked.

+ -1 moreOverall, the experience was ok but I would likely not re-hire HAVA based on my first experience unless they have some reasonable explanation for their lack of follow-up and inability of the technician to locate the equipment that was in plain view.
Description of Work: The technician, Hossain, who came to service my AC unit was not as competent as I had hoped. He was little lacking in customer service as well. He recharged my unit with 2.5 lbs of R22 Freon. He did spend quite a bit of time looking around and observing the unit to identify the problems. He mentioned to me that there was a leak in the system but did not bother to identify the leak (I later sealed the system myself with a commercially available sealant after another recharge with 1 lb of R22 and the system has been operating much much cooler). I asked him to give me an estimate to replace my AC units that are approximately 12 years old (I have a 2 zone system in my house). He said that he will follow up with a call the following Monday (6/24/2012) and I have yet to hear back from him. He just didn't seem interested in my business which is actually ok with him especially given the fact that he could not locate the air handler in the attic, and told me that it was located in an inaccessible area (I had another HVAC person come for an estimate and he was able to immediately locate the air handler unit in the attic as it was sitting right next to the attic access which the other guy (Hossain) also removed and stuck his head through but still couldn't find it).

+ -1 moreThey gave an estimate of 1,400 when another contractor gave an estimate of $400 to fix the same problem (although I'm not sure the $400 contractor actually fixed the problem). He did not really explain what was wrong and was not helpful. He also played fast and loose on the time he was going to arrive.

+ -1 moreEverything went pretty well. They had an issue with a wron part that was delivered and I had to wait another day for the correct part to be delivered and installed. The work was completed late in the day and the manager promised to dend someone to come and clean the electrostatic filters the next day. They never came. The A/C unit works fine but I am not happy with the poor follow up.
Description of Work: Replaced 2 A/C units. I called for service because the A/C stopped cooling. They came quickly the same day I called. They determined that there was a problem with the old unit and might not be worth fixing. We agreed on a price and I had the two A/C units replaced.

+ -1 moreOur air conditioning simply didn't work when we initially turned it on. The guys from Hava Tech came out in a couple of days and had it replaced and up and running in two days! They also included a free humidifier and a very reasonable service contract for any future maintenance/issues.

+ -1 moreThey were trying to scare me from the very first saying how dangerous the furnace was and how we would die from the C02. That stopped when I said I need to write all this down for my husband. What really was puzzling is that they left this dangerous furnace on when they left. We had had it inspected in the fall by our usual company, Logan and Sons, who noted that at some point we should replace the exhaust, but that there was no immediate need and there was no C02 leaking. I felt they were not knowledgeable and were just trying to scare me.
Description of Work: We called this company because they work with our Warranty insurance. The Washington Gas company had come the day before and turned off the gas on our furnace and left a note "Danger, Notice of Hazardous Condition" They checked "Inoperative appliance" and noted "Furnace burner flame pulsating after gas valve makes clicking noise." They said the clicking noise was normal. The two men came and started examining the furnace and said "Oh my God" a bunch of times and were telling me how dangerous the furnace was, but because the furnace "worked" it did not qualify for replacement by our Warranty company. They took apart an exhaust pipe, telling me that is was probably full of black coating, which was causing the problems of the gas flares. I saw the inside and a little dust fell out but there was not any coating of anything on the inside. Still they said the exhaust pipes need replacing and the whole system of pipes cleaned. They also said that the coils needed cleaning but they weren't sure because they couldn't see them. They also said that the C02 would kill us. They gave us a quote, on sale of $5350 for a new furnace, coil and Thermostat and piping .
