Look this guy up on the Virginia Department of Professional and Occupations Regulations website. www.dpor.gov. Just type in his name and search all boards - Larry S Brown of Fairfax, VA 22031. There is report where he lost his real estate license. I am told that it is very difficult to lose your real estate license. The report describes various incidences with the law. IF I ONLY READ THE virginia dpor.gov REPORT BEFORE I HIRED HIM, I WOULD NEVER HAVE CALLED HIM. On to my experience.... So, one month passes and no report. I send an email asking about the report status. No response. Another week passes, I leave a voicemail. No response. Finally, another week passes and I get him on the phone. This is where it takes a very, very weird turn... He told me quote, "I sent the report on email. You must have gotten it and lost/deleted it." I asked, "Larry, can you please send the report again?" Larry says, "I cannot do that because the report and the email were stolen off my computer." I said, "Larry that sounds unbelieveable." Larry said, "Someone has been hacking into my computer. You are probably a friend of this hacker too." Finally I said, "Larry, are you really going to take my money and not give me a report?" Larry said, "Well I'm not going to come out to your house and do another inspection." Another week passes. I call. I say, “Larry it seems that you are not going to give me the report. How much of the $400 that I paid you is the report? Maybe you just refund like $100 or $200 and we can move on.” Larry then said, “You received the report and now you are trying to take money from me.” I said, “Larry, I’m the one who gave you full payment prior to receiving the report. Just give me the report, I paid for it.” Needless to say, we had one more telephone conversation and a few email conversations that lead me to believe that Larry is either delusional or just not telling me the truth. Granted, I am not a professional psychologist but, being a 41 year old man I do know crazy when I see it. All I wanted was what I paid for. He somehow thinks I am trying to steal money from him. If you are still crazy enough to hire this guy, do NOT pay up front. Only pay after the services are fully completed to your satisfaction. This is my $400 life lesson. All I wanted to do was hire a local guy to do some work thinking I'm helping the local economy. Oh yea one more thing. Larry said that all those things about him in the Commonwealth of Virginia Real Estate Board Report #2010-03854 were not true. His reason: "If enough people say it, then everyone believes that it is true."
