A few hiccups see above, but they resolve everything.

They were not able to do the job the way I wanted it done. I ordered a garbage disposal online, when it came it had a plug on the end. When the gentleman came he said he couldn't put it in because it had a plug and I didn't have an outlet under the sink. He wanted to sell me a different model that was a half horse power for $125. I really needed it so I had him put it in. When he was finished he asked if I was going to write a check. I said I would after I got an invoice, he said they don't do that they just email something after I pay. I told him I needed that before I pay because I need that model number and information for the warranty that comes with the appliance. He said he would come back that evening, he didn't. But he and his dad came in the morning and they said they don't usually do that. They usually collect the money then go home and email a receipt. I thought that was a strange way of doing business. I paid $285, $160 was for labor. They quoted me $135 as a starting price for the installation. I don't like to haggle like that with people, but when someone verbally tells me upfront it's going to be a certain price then I expect that's what it's going to be. He cleaned up after himself, it was a good job. When he put the new disposal in he didn't replace the sink mount, which I thought was interesting. I've never had a disposal put in where they didn't replace that fitting around the sink. I called him when my disposal went out. He said to call him when I had my disposal and he would come. I called him one evening and he said his son would be here at 9:30, he didn't come until 11:30 but he called twice to let us know he'd been delayed. I don't think it was very professional not to be prepared to give someone an invoice. I'd use them again but I'd let them know I expect to have an invoice when they're done.

I had three other companies to give estimates and they all included disassembling the ducting almost doubling the estimate. Gidders thought of a way to do the job without touching the ducting and his estimate was way lower than for the other plumbers. They came on time as scheduled and did the job very quickly and efficiently. This is a family father - son business . They are very professional. Highly recommend them.

Barney and his associate Jose arrived about 9:30 on the arranged work day. I had purchased the fixtures for the sink and the tub, and Barney and Jose got right to work taking off the old fixtures and installing the new ones. To install the new sink fixture, the pedestal sink had to be dismantled. Barney and Jose worked without stop for three hours, The fixtures were installed satisfactorily and so far work perfectly without drips or leaks. Barney and Jose were both very friendly, nice to work with, and professional throughout the job. Barney checked and fixed a small drip on my main water shut-off valve and checked the slow drain in the bathtub. He also mentioned an eco-friendly drain cleaner that he sells. The job took almost exactly 3 hours, just as Barney had estimated. There were no hidden costs or unexpected surprises. The only negative was that the bathroom was left rather messy, and I had to a lot of clean up to do after the work was done.

I spent $1200 on that work. Their price was very good and stood behind their work. The leak was not fixed the first time and so they came out for free and fixed it. The workers were fine. Their prices were the cheapest by far.

Gidders plumbing was extremely responsive from the very first estimate to the final inspection after all work was complete. My whole family caught the flu and we were unable to get the stove we wanted (wife had to see the kitchen stove in person). As a result, Barney could not finish the work during the first visit. He came back for a very reasonable additional cost to finish the job and install the kitchen stove. After the stove was discovered to have a manufacturer's defect, a new one was delivered and Barney again came out to install the new stove. The one issue/problem I had with the work was handled extremely professionally. Essentially, after explaining the issue, Barney said, "Look, I guarantee all of my work, so I'll get out there as soon as I can to fix it." What more could you ask for? The minor issue with the inspection was also taken care of promptly and at no additional cost.

Developed a pin-hole leak in a cold water supply line that runs through my dining room ceiling. The supply line feeds into one of my upstairs bathrooms. Water was dripping from my ceiling. Fortunately I was home when it developed. I had no idea where the leak was coming from. Using Angie's List, I searched for a reputable plummer. Gidders & Sons Plumbing came up on my search. I called Gidders and Sons Plumbing, and Barney Gidders, the proprietor, came right down to my house. He cut a couple of small holes to find the problem, and was able to do the repair work right away without making a big deal out of it. The holes that he needed to cut were cut very neatly and evenly, and should be quite easy to repair. He left my house as neat as a pin. Gidders & Sons gives you that old-fashioned professional and honest service that is so hard to find nowadays. Most importantly is that job was done right. Reasonably priced too. I most certainly will use Gidders & Sons again.

Unfortunately, I had plumbing issues since last year when I lost my main job. So I have been trying to do it myself to save money. We had a running toilet for awhile and I was waiting until I had money to call a professional. Last week, while I was taking a shower, my shower head fell on me. Okay. That was sign from God that I needed help. So I called Gidders and Sons Plumbing from our Kings Park West newsletter. I also logged on to Angie's List to see if they were listed. YES THEY WERE!! Not only did I get a neighborhood plumber but the best Angie List "A" rated one. You know what? They were very friendly and professional. I will definitely use them again and again. But I hope next time for bath remodeling than a shower head falling on me. One note. Barney knowing about what I have gone through gave a price I could afford and made my life a little easier. Thank you Barney and Patrick Gidders.

Barney and his son provided great professional timely work and provided us with quality products at a great discount from retail. We replace our basement bathroom with a complete new design removing walls and moving drians to new locations including jack hammering the floor. The work done was great and we are very happy with the final product.

Bottom line up front - Barnie is the best, an all around good guy and excellent contractor. He made our old 1950s bathroom look brand new. When I screwed up the floor doing my own demo work, Barnie simply fixed it and moved, no muss no fuss. The only cautionary note is a working partner who did not do equally good work on the paint job and inset mirror installation. I don't think Barnie has him on board anymore (his name was Chris, so make sure he doesn't do your work). Another added bonus - Barnie did some kitchen sink work for us, I screwed up and forgot to pay him. When I finally did (after he called twice) he was totally cool about it. This is the guy - hire him and you won't be sorry.

We use Barney Gidders and his sons, Patrick, John and Chris for all our plumbing, and bath/kitchen remodeling. He always comes when he says he will, he does a perfect job, and then charges about half what others quoted. Seems like most plumbers now are corporations with employees who have limited range of abilities and unnaturally set high prices. Barney is like an old world experience. He does excellent work for a fair price when YOU want it done. The fact that he's an interesting guy who once played professional baseball and owned a cookie store just add to the overall good feeling you have when you know getting a great deal while having plumbing problems expertly resolved. Very highly recommended.

Very friendly and accomodating to my schedule. Explained in detail what would be done. He gave me a container of bio drain cleaner free since I also had a slow draining sink.
