Geek Squad - Best Buy

I had paid $100 subscription for when I had trouble.

I think that stood out that I liked about them is that they are enthusiastic about helping me. And, what is really important to me is that they don't talk down to me. They treated me with respect and went over the details of everything and answered every question. They made me feel like I truly understand what I didn't understand before and I appreciated that a lot. I checked out the price and it was reasonable compared with online prices and anybody else. In fact, they had that support there to help me cover everything I needed which was really good. When they were doing the change over, they emailed me and called me several times to let me know how the progress was going. At first they called and said it was ready and then they called to say that there was a problem with the new computer and they replaced the new computer with another one off the shelf because the internal hard drive of the one other one was bad. They had to keep it another day but they kept the communication going so I never had to ride out there and find out that my computer is not yet ready because that wouldn't have been fun. So they were very good with communication. I got everything that I wanted on the computer. I signed up for a geek squad 2-year contract and with the contract, they will service up to three computers. The fact that I don't have IT support, it is much easier for me to be under a contract and carry my computer to them as needed because a lot of times they will fix it right there and I don't have to wait for somebody to come to my house. For a person who doesn't have IT support, this is a great deal.

I feel like their people are very knowledgeable. I always feel like they are willing to explain to me the differences of things that are new or popular in the marketplace. They are also very busy, so I don’t get a personal sense. It is one of the big chains, and I think their prices are pretty good. They seem to be pretty knowledgeable about what they have available, but it is not a situation where I feel like I establish a relationship with anybody.

I bought a heavy duty 64 bit super computer in a little box...it is amazing! My computer died and I wanted to get a new one. They said this is the best computer we have. I have been fairly happy with it. The only problems I have had are with Microsoft. The computer seems ok.

Best Buy apparently ended up selling the equipment we had purchased to someone else. When we made our purchase of a home theater system, we were told the speakers were not in stock, but the amplifier was. We opted to have the sound system delivered all at once, but took the TV with us. A member of their "Geek Squad" made the TV installation, and told us the salesman had sold us the wrong (and much more expensive) wall mount, but he provided the correct one. The TV installation went well. We tried to schedule the sound system installation, but kept getting push back. We were told the speakers were still not in. FInally, on the day of installation, the installer called us and asked if we had the equipment, because it was not at the warehouse. On calling, we were told the speakers were in, but not the amp. It had been nearly a month of going back and forth, and finally I insisted on getting my money back. They handled the refund professionally, but I cannot understand why at one point the speakers were in, then they were out, but the amp was in. After being jerked around on what was in and what wasn't, and to be told only by the installer there was a problem, we will not go back to this store again.
