Fabulous!!! They were punctual, polite, super efficient. I called and placed the order and had the install within two days on my timetable. We had a snag with payment due to holiday fraud alerts on credit cards and they worked it out immediately. I HIGHLY recommend them :)

The installation of the intake pipe was installed crookedly which caused the water heater to rust out and corrode over time. The effect wasn't noticeable until after the one year warranty. Corrosion takes time to show on something in the basement that you don't look at every day. Additionally the electrical cord was installed without head clearance. Instead of running the cord up and over the (open and exposed) joists, they just made a straight diagonal line from the top of the heater to the ceiling four feet away. Poor, poor job. Given the chance to make things right, they refused.

Response from Fairfax Electric, Plumbing & Gas
Ms. [Member Name Removed]: I am sorry that you feel this way. However, you called us almost 11 1/2 years after the water heater was installed. As you noted my company provides a 1 year warranty on our workmanship. If you remember, our area experienced a fairly significant earthquake a few years ago, strong enough that it caused damage to the Washington Monument. This earthquake could very well had shifted the water heater in your home and put pressure on a tee away from our workmanship. If you had called us when you first noticed water on top of your water heater, we might have been able to determine why this tee was leaking, and we certainly would have been able to save the water heater. However, you waited until the water heater was non repairable from this leak as you waited until after it had been leaking for months.

Too expensive for a $700 water heater. Maybe they are a good reputable company, I did not hire them due to lack of service and price.

Mr. [Member Name Removed]: I'm sorry that you found our pricing too expensive. We do have limited ability to price match for like kind to like kind with reputable licensed contractors, pulling permits as required and performing the installation up to code. If you haven't had the service performed yet and you have a quote from another company, please feel free to give us a call and let's see what we can do. I'm confident that though we aren't the cheapest contractor we are attractively and competitively priced for our market.

Fairfax Plumbing quoted us on the phone based on our description of the unit and environment (e.g. basement), and stuck to their quote. They arrived on time, installed and tested the new unit, removed the old unit, cleaned up and left. No surprises. The folks that handled the phones were courteous and well informed. We'd use Fairfax Plumbing again.

Russel and Sam were very professional and got the job done efficiently and quickly. Our house is older and the space for the heater was an issue, also newer codes regarding vertical length of venting ducts had to be dealt with. Between these two and also Gina at their office, a solution was found and the proper water heater was installed.

It went well. They were able to get me in next day on short notice with a leaking unit. I was very appreciative of that. However, that meant they only had one technician available for the install, not the normal two. He struggled a little draining the old water heater. Left a little bit of a mess, but nothing too bad. All in all, I'd much rather have that situation than waited until two techs were available.

We had been told by another contractor that we needed a new water heater with a quote of $4,000. I spoke to Fairfax Electric, Plumbing and Gas and after providing them with a detailed description of our problem (the heater did not work for a day or so but was now working), was given a much more reasonable quote for a new unit. However, they would not be able to install until Monday (this occurred on a Friday). Amazingly, we had hot water all weekend and were unsure whether a new water heater was really needed. When Fairfax Electric came out to install, they first checked out the current unit and saw that it was producing hot water without a problem. We decided not to proceed with a new one until such time as we had further problems with the current water heater. When and if that happens, we will most defintely call Fairfax Electric to install a new unit.

We are very happy with the water heater installation by Fairfax Electric, Plumbing & Gas. They offered a good price on the Rheem water heater we wanted, installation included. When it was discovered that we had a leaky water cutoff valve , they went out of their way to fix it quickly. They reconfigured the pipes above our water heater to fit and to be more accessible. Highly recommended.

The plumbers called when they were in transit, and arrived promptly at 8 am on Friday morning. They were both very polite, and well equipped to deal with my problem. They replaced all the copper tubing around the water heater, and installed the new water heater. They also removed and disposed of the old water heater. From start to finish, they were done in less than 2 hours. They arrived promptly, worked thoroughly, cleaned up everything, and removed the old heater. I would strongly recommend Fairfax Electric, Plumbing and Gas for any water heater related task.
Description of Work: When our old water heater ceased functioning, we called Dominion VA Power to schedule an appointment for a replacement--which should have been covered by a monthly maintenance fee we had been paying for many years. This began on a Thursday morning. Multiple calls to Dom Power were necessary to eventually be connected with a plumber. The earliest the plumber could come was Sunday--which left us without hot water for 4 days. They also would not remove the old water heater, claiming it was the customers responsibility. I reluctantly accepted the Sunday appointment, but then had second thoughts. I then decided to check Angie's List for alternate possibilities. I selected Fairfax Electric, Plumbing and Gas based on their excellent reviews. The person I spoke with was knowledgeable, and extremely helpful in scheduling a replacement water heater for the following Friday morning.

Had a first class experience with this company for a timely hot water heater replacement prior to a long vacation. One point of information (not a complaint) is that they work very closely with Home Depot as a third party installer. Even though we called FEPG directly, Home Depot sent some of the documentation, and solicited feedback on the installation. Highly recommended.

My call to the office was answered promptly and an estimate was provided for the water heater. After I decided to purchase the 50 gallon Rheem water heater, we scheduled an installation date and the 2 installers arrived on time and completed the installation within a couple of hours. The county inspector found a minor issue with how the exhaust piping was done, so the 2 installers returned and redid the piping. I don't fault the installers for this, as it was not a code issue, but an interpretation of the manufacture's instructions. Everyone I talked to at Fairfax Electric, Plumbing & Gas was courteous, professional and responsive. I would definitely use them again.

Was told by Home Depot that someone would come out and do an estimate and the value for that is $100. Instead got a call from Fairfax Electric with an estimate to install a water heater, but with the statement that it could be more based on what they have to do when they come out. The reason I signed up for the estimate was the promise to come out and get a firm price on the installation. I am extremely disappointed that Fairfax Electric did not honor the promise I got. The estimate is $500 to install a $500 water heater. Which seems high. In addition, asking to commit to install a water heater while not knowing how much I will charged when they show up is crazy. Bottomline, disappointed promised on site pricing and not honored.

These folks were great to work with from start to finish! When I called to get an estimate, Taylor asked me a few questions about my current water heater and its location. She was very pleasant, professional, and easy to talk to. She was able to provide not only the brand but also the model of water heaters they had in stock -- something other companies I called weren’t able to do. I had done some online research, and already narrowed down some choices, so I knew what I wanted down to the model numbers. I also knew that I needed a pressure reducing valve (mine was leaking), plus a new cold water valve on the line to the water heater. Also, the new water heater would be 5500 watts, and my old one was 4500. Rheem’s specs recommended a 30 amp circuit breaker. Mine was 25 amps, which may have worked OK, but I decided to upgrade it anyway. So at the end of my conversation with Taylor, I had a solid estimate for the installing the water heater, cold water valve and circuit breaker, and a rough estimate for the pressure reducing valve, depending on how difficult replacing that would be. On the day of the scheduled installation, Kenny and Quintin called ahead as promised and arrived on schedule. Kenny was the master plumber. He looked at my existing system, we discussed some options, and decided on the final details and price. The guys went to work. I have an unfinished basement, so I wasn’t too concerned about spilling some water, but they were careful to keep it mopped up anyway. I didn’t want to bother them while they worked, but of course I checked on them a few times. They were friendly and easy to talk to, and didn’t seem to mind explaining what they were doing, even though they probably get the same questions all the time. When they were finished (in about 2 hours), Kenny pointed out the work that had been done, and I signed off on it. The finished job looks really nice. Very clean solder joints, and no leaks! The water heater fired up as it should and seems to be working just fine. From what I understand from talking to Kenny and Quintin, Fairfax Electric, Plumbing and Gas installs a LOT of water heaters. They said they do some other plumbing, too, but water heater installation is their big specialty. They sure seem to know what they are doing, and are very professional and efficient. I definitely recommend the folks at Fairfax for a good estimate, fair price, and nice job of installation.
Description of Work: Installed a new 50-gallon electric water heater to replace an old one. Also replaced a leaking pressure reducing valve on the main water line, a cold water shutoff valve to the heater (old one was severely corroded), and upgraded a 25 amp circuit breaker with a 30 amp breaker. Job included disposal of old water heater.

The contractors were great (Carrie and Mark, I believe). Very professional and personable. They answered any questions I had, worked quickly, and even installed the new unit in a location that allowed better access in my mechanical closet. They were able to install the new unit the same day I called. I can't say enough good. Having worked with several plumbers, I can say they were some of the best I've dealt with.

Our water heater was 14 years old, and since the expected lifetime is around 15 years, we wanted to be proactive, as we live on the top floor of a condo, and didn't want any last-minute emergencies, flooding, or insurance issues! We spoke with Kim, who was knowledgeable and very helpful. We decided on a high-end Rheem, well-rated, and with a 12 year warranty on the tank. We were OK spending slightly more for better quality and less likelihood of any issues down the road. The price quote of $1667.00 included the $300 that it costs to pull the permit with Fairfax County. The installation team arrived on time and was very professional, although I was initially slightly uncomfortable with the installer's neck tattoos. Later I found out that everyone who works for the company has undergone a background check, which would have been comforting to know in advance. They were nice guys, and completed the work promptly. Fairfax County just completed inspection and the inspector described everything as "perfect." We are happy customers.,

After 30+ year old water heater began pouring out in basement, I quickly turned to Angie's list to find a grade A company to Repair Gas Water Heater. I found 2 services that had over 100 reviews with overall grade of A. First company I called and left my information and waited for call back. 2nd company was Fairfax Electric,Plumbing and Gas. Explained this was an emergency, they asked for all my information and put me on hold while calling to see if they could fit me in today (same day). Within minutes, they were back on the phone to explain, yes, they could fit me in the schedule, went over all the details of the cost, and that installers would call when they were 30 mins out from our home. This call was at 1030. The first company I tried returned my call to advise if they could perform the same service a half hour later - I explained I had already gone with another company. From the 1st phone call this morning to the installers, both were courteous, prompt, and extremely professional. Actual service performed included emptying remaining water and removal of old water heater, installing new one and replace 2 new copper water lines, and replace some venting. They arrived at 2 pm. and all actions complete at the time of this review which is now 4 p.m. The cost quoted on phone was exact price of the invoice at completion (to include cost of the permit for later inspection of installation). Additionally, this water heater came with a 3 year labor service warranty and 12 year manufacturers warranty. Other company mentioned only offered 1 year service warranty. This is by far the best service received in quite some time....truly reflect customer service and professionalism. Something to be said for company that knows what it does best and sticks to it. A pleasure in writing this review. Will definitely use this company again if needed.
