We used ECO-NIZe twice previously for our closets. We were extremely satisfied with their work, which was the reason we hired them again to organize our garage. We are very happy how it turned out! Our garage now looks clean, well organized and pleasing to the eye. The whole process was quick and easy. Free estimate, great design, scheduling installation day and installation itself. Plus, as returning customers we got a discount. I would highly recommend this company to anybody who is looking for hight quality and great looking closet/garage space.

I echo all the extremely positive responses that everyone has given here. Noel is an absolute pleasure to work with! He is professional, courteous, extremely responsive, customer focused, accommodating and extremely thoughtful in his design. I live in a loft-style contemporary condo in DC so I wanted something a little more contemporary in design. Noel patiently listened to my needs and designed a closet that looks as terrific as it is functional. He is very honest-never trying to up-sell or pressure you. In fact, I suggested a few things that would have greatly added to the price and he convinced me that they were not necessary. And he was correct! Noel provided me with a 3-D computer schematic of what the closet would look like--which is extremely helpful for those of us The installation went extremely smoothly. They were extremely courteous, professional and did a superb job. They cleaned up after the job was finished and even hauled away the old closet that I removed. The actual installed closet looks even better than it did in the 3-D drawing. I couldn't be happier! I cannot say enough good things about Noel, his crew and the entire experience! The customer is King with Noel and the work product is terrific. In fact, I plan to use them on an Murphy Bed and Office system for another room in my house.

Terrific experience with Noel and his team! Easy to schedule for the (free) estimate. Noel is super-responsive on email, came when he said he would. Measured and showed me finish options, then got back to me with a design and price quote. Scheduled the installation when he said he would and they showed up on time. I was working from home that day and couldn't get off the phone. Just let the guys in and pointed to the basement while mouthing "I'm sorry." By the time I went down 15 minutes later, they were set up and in progress. No problems at all - they knew all the details of the project. Covered our light carpet with mats, sawed outside, vacuumed when they were done and LITERALLY left it cleaner when they arrived. I'd use them again in a heartbeat!
Description of Work: Installed built in bookshelves on a full wall in the basement playroom.

Noel met with us when it was convenient for our schedule. He was polite and accommodating. The design was perfect for the space and exactly what we wanted. Some of the pieces were a little scratched so they offered to come back to replace them at no extra cost. We were very happy with the final result.

The design and bid process required two visits to our home and follow up discussions on the phone. Once you get your initial design layout and think through how it will work it seemed natural that additional planning work would be required. And it was. Once we finalized the design, it was going to take roughly 3 weeks to get the materials required and the work scheduled on their calendar. Some of this time was necessary as we chose to have the "tear-out" of the existing closets and prep work for the "new" closet performed by another contractor we had worked with. Note: While ECO-NIZE was willing to perform these tasks, they were very willing to allow someone else to do this "prep" phase; and I know that we got this work done for less than they might have charged. Let me also note that we had two companies bid the project; ECO-NIZE proved to be a very competitive and provided the low bid. As we were completing the demolition in our closets [this being just 5 days before ECO-NIZE was to be on site] we discovered that there was an access panel for the spa tub in our master bathroom in one of our closets that created a problem with the layout we had finalized!!!! When I called ECO-NIZE to discuss this "challenge", they were amazingly accommodating. We talked through the problem and figured our the best way to change some dimensions of the layout to provide access to this access panel. In doing so, they determined that they would have to place a RUSH order for some of the new materials required because of dimension changes. They took this in stride, and placed the order. At no time did they say anything other than... "this is no problem"... "we can take care of it", "...and, by the way, there will be NO EXTRA CHARGE for any of this." I was blown away. I have worked with many different contractors who relish last minute changes like this...because it allows them to change [always upward] the contract price. But not ECO-NIZE. They arrived on time for the work they came to do, were VERY professional and got their work completed a little ahead of schedule. The amount of work they needed to do on our closets took more than one day. When they came back on the second day, and we had begun to return our clothes to the new closets, we found there were several "tweaks" that we wanted them to make to the closets. Again, their outstanding customer service philosophy took over. They were more than happy to make the adjustments we asked for; no problem and no extra charge!!! And some of the changes involved lowering some closets rods for my wife [women's clothes don't need as much room vertically or horizontally as men's], and repositioning some shelves. The beauty of these new, modular closet systems is that some of these changes can be done without a huge amount of effort; yet it does require time on the contractor's part and sometimes some additional material. But ECO-NIZE was TOTALLY focused on our complete satisfaction; not on "nickel & diming" us to death. It is hard to find customer service like this today...but these guys are good! All in all my wife and I are as pleased as we could be with the quality of the materials and the work they performed. One last insight into their approach to customer service...I gave the installer a check to cover the final 50% / balance owed for the project. When he returned to the office and turned in the check the owner of the company called me immediately to tell me I had juxtaposed two numbers on the check...overpaying him by $200! Believe me, the next time I want to re-fit another closet, or perhaps reorganize my garage, I am doing this with ECO-NIZE.

Overall went very Well! I love my new closet! I swear I hear a choir of angels singing every time I open the closet door. Life is much less stressful in a clutter free closet and I can see all the clothes I have much better.
Description of Work: Designed a closet layout in my difficult walk- in space. Accommodated my interior walls, window, vent, and electrical outlets. Took my feedback on the design very seriously. Got two other estimates and designs that were not as good. They patiently responsed to all of my questions so I could compare the three estimates. Once I decided on the design, they scheduled an install for the next week. The crew that installed the units was very profession and explained everything before they started. Took only about 2 hours for the install. They cut the baseboards to make everything look nice and neat. They cleaned up afterwards and were very polite.

Noel Sweeney came to our house on a Saturday, spent time to understand our space and what we needed for a complete rebuild of our master bedroom closet area. He offered suggestions that were helpful but did not try to up-sell us. The design was done as we talked and then we had time to tinker with it as we understood our choices. The installation was done in 1 day and his crew members were courteous and efficient. We were pleased with both the quality and value of the work. We did not have a "luxury" closet built, the woods are not full hardwood, etc, but it is very good looking and fits with an upscale look.

Noel is great to deal with from the start. His day is his day, his time is his time and his price is his price. He is extremely professional and personable. He was very patient and thoughtful about looking at our previous amount of clothes, our organizing preferences (how I like to store my shoes!, hamper situation, even the steamer we use daily...) The work crew arrived on time and were very professional as well. Every little thing was allotted for and WOW is the result great. My husband and I couldn't be more pleased. We have more space than we know what to do with. I really love the pull-out laundry hampers. I would recommend Econize to anyone. We are having Econize back to look at 2 more projects (bigger than the MBR closet) because we were so happy with the first outcome.

We had a MBR walk-in closet "meltdown" when my husband was changing a light bulb in the closet, lost his balance on the step stool and grabbed one of the wire racks with clothes hanging on it. That rack collapsed and started a chain reaction resulting in total implosion of the closet. In fairness to him, the racks were cheap builder-installed affairs that had been there since the house was built 15 years ago, and on the bright side I now have a great story to tell. I did some research on Angie's List and called Noel Sweeney of Econize. When I told him the story he refrained from laughing, and set up a consult within 48 hours. He spent over an hour measuring and showing us various options. He worked with us extremely well, thinking of things we had not but not pushing any high end frills. Within a week he had sent an extremely detailed plan for my review. We did some back and forth via email -- he was very prompt in all his responses -- and set up a date for installation. As he was finalizing the plans he noticed some space in the closet he had neglected to use, and he went ahead and remedied that as he was ordering his materials. We did our own homework as we were awaiting installation, by patching the closet holes and repainting it. On the day of installation, his small 2-man crew arrived promptly. (For the stated window of "between 10 and 12", they arrived a few minutes after 10, instead of the more usual 1 or 2, which is what we have come to expect of most service providers). Over the course of about 5 hours they installed a beautiful new closet. There was one small adjustment I asked Noel for, regarding placement of a belt rack, and he came personally and moved it for us. The entire experience was outstanding, and I cannot say enough about the high quality of the product and the professionalism of Noel and his crew. This was an expensive luxury for us, but given the quality and the service, it was worth every penny, and the price was certainly competitive with others I looked into. This is a model of how all contractors should do business. I love our new closet. And in case you were wondering, we did finally change the light bulb.

Noel Sweeney was extremely talented in his design skills and most professional. He visited our home twice to explain the process and to listen to our wishes, and then to discuss the custom designs. He customized multiple designs to fit our specific needs and to flow with the rest of the interior of our house. I asked him to give us ideas for other areas in the house (master closet design, and another wall-bed with cabinets in the basement) which we would like to pursue in the future. He also made upgrades in some of the materials for the media center with no extra charge. His installation team was equally professional: 2 brothers with extremely polite manners worked very hard to install the media center and wall-bed quickly, professionally, and with no mess to clean up. We missed them when they left! We are most pleased with the Eco-nize team and are looking forward to hiring them again for more projects.
Description of Work: Designed and built custom media center/bookshelves in family room, and a wall-bed with cabinets in guestroom. Everyone we had contact with during this project was professional, helpful, punctual, and considerate. I still marvel at how well the kitchen shelf they built for us blends in and just looks like it was already there. Also, I almost didn't want to upgrade the laundry storage but I'm so glad we did. I can fit more stuff (detergent, bleach, stain remover) and I don't have to see it all the time. The garage is like a dream to me still- we have a work bench, lots of slat-wall, big storage cabinets, and (my favorite) a shoe/boot storage shelf on the way into the house. No more knocking over an avalanche of snow shovels and rakes- everything is up off the floor. Eco-nize is a great local company that really listened to what we wanted, provided great service, and charged a very fair price. Call them up!
Description of Work: Upgrade master closets, linen closet, pantry, downstairs storage closet (shelving), laundry room storage (cabinet). What we had before Eco-nize was the white wire shelving and hanging that you can buy at Lowe's or Home Depot. Add shelving in a dead space in the kitchen we wanted to use, and add a storage system in our 2-car garage. It's made such a huge difference to us to have highly efficient and attractive as well as functional storage areas in our house. I recommend Eco-nize to everyone I know who wants to change their storage areas, and I plan on calling them up in the future for more projects. My husband and I have already decided we will consider them for common area storage, such as bookshelves and home office storage, and not just for areas behind closet doors. I find even the lower end of their product line quite attractive. Noel Sweeney made a point of keeping our whole project under $10000.00, which impressed me because we did a lot. After installation I was even more impressed by the quality.

Although rapidly growing in their sales volume due to area demand, EcoNize remains true to its small business roots. Because EcoNize is operated by its owners, its employees demonstrate a pride in service and quality. Noel Sweeney shows a level of dedication to the company's clients, including us, that has unfortunately become all too uncommon. Noel proactively sought out ways to discount our costs where possible in order to both reward us for our client loyalty and help us keep costs within budget. The company also used Eco-friendly and/or recyclable material which makes the customer feel they're consuming ethically. Also, EcoNize was always responsive, and very deliberate about having us as clients be equal partners during the design process. We never got the impression that EcoNize was trying to sell us something we didn't need just to close a sale. During our first project, we cost compared EcoNize with larger closet system retailer (i.e. Elfa) and determined them to be more price competitive. We found the product quality and service of both projects to meet, and even exceed (wow!) our expectations. EcoNize is one those few companies that seems to understand that retaining clients for the long-term is the best business model, and this ethos appears to permeate throughout the company's operating style. And moreover, the installation crew was always friendly and professional. We would recommend EcoNize to any consumer who is looking for cabinetry and closet systems in the District of Columbia.
Description of Work: Both my wife and I have used EcoNize's services for our organization system needs at both our properties in the District of Columbia. In total, we've used EcoNize for two projects, all with multiple stages, for a total of around $22-24K. 1st Project: Our first project involved our using EcoNize to custom build organization systems into a completely refurbished row home located in Bloomindale subdivision, District of Columbia. Throughout the process we're coordinated with EcoNize's principal (Noel Sweeney) to custom design the right systems through an iterative process. EcoNize used a COTS software product to visualize design concepts for five distinct areas of our home. Both my wife and I went through multiple rounds of design modification with the Noel before settling on dimension and material specifics. The 1st project involved five building five distinct systems that included: a vertically system designed to hold our IT equipment, books and records; an expanded pantry system in the kitchen; a floating multimedia system below our flat screen television; new closet organization system; and stand-alone dresser for professional and leisure clothing articles. Once we agreed to design modifications, we scheduled an installation date with EcoNize. The EcoNize installation crew, lead by Paul Uhlenkott, showed up exactly as scheduled. They completed the project, and its associated task orders, within one business day. We're actually very surprised they were able to complete the scale of work. EcoNize stayed from early morning to late at night and finished all the systems in addition to cleaning the work area. 2nd Project: A) Our second project involved our using EcoNize to custom build organizations into a traditional, detached row home near the H Street Corridor. Although smaller in scale than our first project, this project was a bit more complicated since had many existing elements that were not refurbished. Our mail priority during this project was to add (desperately) needed organization systems. The previous owner had used modest, and somewhat outdated organizations systems. We wanted to achieve both a level of smart organization and aesthetic appeal within a more limited budget than our 1st project. Again, we solved the same design coordination process as during the first project. This project included two phases: Firstly, we added four vertically-structured organization systems for our ground floor level for the purpose of book, multimedia, and IT equipment storage. Secondly, Econize lead the design of our dress bureau on our second level. Noel came to our location twice (from Clifton, VA) just to ensure that the design specs were accurate, materials looked optimal, and everyone had fidelity in an end-state design. B) However, the new property had uneven dimensions and non-level flooring which made some of the design more challenging. Nevertheless, Noel once again created custom visualizations of the space and how some vertical storage systems would best utilize the square footage. After several rounds of coordination we finally agreed to a design scheme. Additionally, we decided to use a new product line that EcoNize had not offered previously. C) EcoNize was able to set an installation date approximately three weeks from the time we commission this project. The EcoNize installation crew once again showed up as scheduled and completed 85% of the projects on the first day. The EcoNize Installation crew, also ead by Paul Uhlenkott, had to work around some difficult sizing issues. This caused somewhat of an unexpected delay, but the EcoNize crew worked diligently to resolve some challenging space areas and older foundations. Econize returned the next week and finished some of the internal shelving which took them only about 4 hours to finish.

We had a wonderful experience, and that is coming from homeowners who have worked with more than a few craftspersons. Eco-nize understands their product, their market, and the value of quality service and personnel. We would have them back in a heatbeat.
Description of Work: We wanted to upgrade our master closet, which was made of contractor grade materials in 1997. We found Eco-nize through a referral and have been delighted with both the product and the experience of bringing all together. The approach Eco-nize took was simple and direct, reducing what at first could have been a maze of choices to literally 10 answers. At the end of the first session, Eco-nize was able to produce both an estimate and graphic representation of what we wanted our Master closet to look like. Service is, of course, everything in this business and in that Eco-nize excelled. The whole experience was professional, flexible, responsive, and - most importantly - creative. Along the way, we came up with adjustments to the original plan, such as drawers for scarfs and other personal accessories; Eco-nize responded within a day with a new design and approximate price to install the drawers. The same was true of features we originally thought we wanted but, when installed, thought better of: Eco-nize removed the feature, worked with us, and came up with a better solution. In addition to fabulous service, Eco-nize offers a fabulous product line. The quality of their materials is stunningly good. We have showed our closet to friends and they think it costs much more than it did. While we did not go with real wood, the look and feel of the material we did use has the same look and solid feel. It just makes you feel good to be in your own closet! From personnel to material and workmanship, Eco-nize demonstrated excellence in service and product delivery. In fact, we were so happy with their work on the Master Closet, we had them construct / install a downstairs entertainment closet for our AV system. Again, the job was accented by quality workmanship, materials, and service. Eco-nize has been prompt professional, creative, and happily stylish. They are experts you feel comfortable with in your home.

Description of Work: Eco-nize installed master bedroom and spare bedroom closets for me and on both occasions were on time, no surprises, fast and cleaned up well. On one occasion, owing to a misunderstanding, they forgot to paint the back wall - when i clarified that i thought it should be included they didnt argue and immediately came back the next day to take care of it.

They did an excellent job. I dealt with one of the owners who was very available. I took a lot of time and made a lot of changes with color and style and they were very patient and did great work. It looks as though the closet was originally built in. I'm very pleased with the completed closet.
Description of Work: They installed a custom closet in my master bedroom.

Noel Sweeney, the local franchise co-owner, was a pleasure to do business with. He was professional and responsive to our needs. The closet was installed today, as scheduled. After a long ten months of contractors in and out of our house, it was apleasure to have someone come in and treat our house like his home. We are very pleased with the installation and the end result. We highly recommend Mr. Sweeney and his partner, Paul.

I solicited 3 bids for this work, and all 3 came in about the same. However, I was extremely impressed with Noel's professionalism and past experience so I chose his company. He never tried to sway me towards the higher end products which he felt were not substantially greater in quality. More bells and whistles, and since he knew I was looking for a very good price, he steered me towards the basic materials (which are quite sturdy and attractive). He sent me a computer-generated drawing of the closets and cabinet which turned out to be very true to the final end product. His crew came on a holiday (July 5th) to install the closets. I had painters in the house at the same time, so they had to work around one another. Not once was this a problem, and Noel's crew was extraordinarily polite and respectful the entire time. They also cleaned up after the job was done, and left the place spotless. My entire family is thrilled with the results - the cabinet is very attractive and went beyond my expectations. Finally, I decided after the fact that I wanted doors installed on the cabinet so I contacted Noel and he very kindly had them made and installed at cost. It completed the look, and now this cabinet is probably the nicest looking one in my house! We hope to install other cabinets in our house in the future, and I will definitely call Noel when this time comes.

My family has a modestly sized finished basement, and we were hoping to transform it from the disorganized where we put our random bookcases, toys, and a way-too-bulky CRT television to a well-organized, well-designed rec room that served half as a media room, half as a play room. So, off my whole family went to the Md. Home Show to get help with various home-improvement projects. I met Eco-Nize co-owner Paul Uhlenkott and were instantly impressed. He wasn't into "hard-sell" tactics; he just showed us a portfolio of his work and explained the process to us. He was sweet and easy to talk to, which isn't always the case at these home shows, where some folks try to get you to put money down right there and then or you'll lose the "home show discount." Noel and I got in touch and scheduled a time for him to come to the house. The day he came over, I explained in exhausting detail what we were looking for, and he went over the specs with me, showed me swatches and catalog samples and took lots of notes about what I wanted. A few days later, Noel emailed me detailed designs with a price quote. After examining the design for a couple of days, my husband and I asked for some revisions (more shelves, more room for a larger TV, different finish, etc.), which Noel worked into revised designs. The modified design was actually more expensive than the originals, but it was exactly what we imagined, and the cost was comparable to (less than in many cases) retail furniture store units that weren't designed exactly as we asked! After we picked the design, we signed a contract, paid a 50% deposit, and were given an install date. The install was fast and easy, and all of Paul's team was incredibly efficient and polite. Overall, Noel and Paul are incredibly easy to work with, and they're just great. We are already "saving" for our next Eco-nize project and would *highly* recommend them to anyone looking for a custom closet/cabinet job.
Description of Work: The Eco-Nize co-owners work collaboratively: Noel Sweeney is the designer, who visited my home to survey the space where I wanted a custom media center to go, and Paul Uhlenkott is the builder, who installed what Noel had designed according to our specifications. Noel worked with my husband and me to design a wall-to-wall entertainment center for our basement. We asked for some modifications to his original design, and after we thought it was perfect, we paid a deposit and received an install date. On the scheduled day, Paul and his crew came and worked quickly and professionally to get the media center installed. Paul even came back a second time to correct a minor mistake (a grommet was accidentally installed on the wrong side of a shelf), that's how committed he was to everything being perfect.

A overall. The representative is very friendly, and he was very flexible in revising the design to what my needs were. The pricing was comprable, but the workers were very professional, punctual, and did the job quickly. I would use them again.
