David and his father Mr. Lee were gracious and showed up on time. The esthetic result of the gas insert is great. However, in early 2016 I noticed whistling noises coming from the fireplace; I had been using the fireplace more than usual during the large snowstorm we had in January. I had someone come out and they found that no regulator value was installed, causing the psi pressure to be around; 55 instead of the acceptable range of 7. During the initial installation DNS did not push me to have permits pulled for the work and I did not insist - my bad, Another gas installation company came out to install the valve and to do what was necessary in order to get a permit. The new company identified additional problems with the gas and electrical lines not being installed up to code and I am now paying for a complete reinstallation to bring the gas insert up to code. With the gas pressure so high in the line and with the electrical and gas lines coming through the same opening and not sleeved - the poor quality of the technical installation done by DNS Construction posed a high risk for a gas explosion in my home. I did email the company in February but they were busy and then I was unavailable until late summer. I did send another email with the list of other substandard findings but have yet to hear back from them. I don't feel comfortable with their redoing the work but thought that they should be financially responsible for the costs for this second installation. Here is a list of the issues with the original installation identified by the company who is ensuring the work is now up to code and under permit: 1.) 2psi gas service running to directly to the fireplace gas valve supplying 56 inwe pressure. The fireplace value is designed to handle between 5 -105 inwe pressure. Repair required: installation of a maxitrol regulator on the gas line at the gas meter to reduce pressure to 8 inwe for proper operation of fireplace. 2.) Flexible appliance connector used on gas line from the Dante valve in the wall, through the masonry side wall of the fireplace and tied in to the fireplace. This connector has flare connections on both ends which are not allowed to be concealed. This connector is not approved to be run through a masonry wall. The gas line is not sleeved through masonry wall. Any gas line that runs through a masonry wall must be sleeved. 3.) The romex electrical line is entering the fireplace through the same hole as the gas line. The romex wire is not sleeved. Electrical and gas lines are not allowed to run through the same hole unless both lines are protected in individual sleeving for each line. 4.) The electrical line is not secured to the fireplace floor. It also runs to a plastic box, which is not allowed inside a fireplace. 5.) the grounded plug on the insert was cut off and the line was hard wired directly to the romex line in the plastic box. This does not allow the insert to be disconnected properly. The gas insert should remain movable for service/replacement in the future. The insert ships from the factory with a grounded 3 prong plug on the power cord, ready to be plugged into an outlet. The absolute failure of this company to properly install the gas fireplace put my home and myself at high risk for a gas explosion.

Description of Work: Contacted for a quote. Promptly returned call and was able to provide an estimate over the phone. We were a little out of they're normal service area, but the person I spoke with was very professional and said that if we couldn't find anyone to do the work that they would be willing to do it anyway.

We were so lucky that we were able to hire DNS Total Construction. They are really busy but they made time for our project because they are friends with our real estate agent. They did a beautiful job on all the work they did and they were much less expensive than the other estimates. It seems like they are experts at everything. The owners (Sang and David Lee) and their workers are nice and very responsible. They gave us very saavy advice on remodeling and David was nice enough to pick out the granite countertop for me so I wouldn't have to make the four hour round trip. The tile floors they installed looked terrific. I didn't find out until too late that they are certfied to paint houses that have lead paint so, unfortunately, I didn't hire them for that. I found out later that the Lees, out of kindness, cleaned up after the painters I did hire. I also wish I had hired them for refinishing the floors. They were just so fantastic, we are grateful for the work they did.
Description of Work: They remodeled are kitchen and bath, made repairs on our slate patio, repaired cracks in brick wall and generally prepared our house for sale.

The total list of tasks took the Lee's a day and a half to complete. They were punctual and neat and cleaned up the various sites they worked on conscientiously. I did not obtain competitive bids, but I felt that the estimate to do the work was fair, and there were no surprise additional charges. The only slight drawback to working with Total Construction, from my perspective anyway, is that when David is offsite, there is a definitely lack of English speaking capability among the remaining three. That didn't present a problem in our case, but it could on larger more complicated jobs. Overall, the job went very well, I would not hesitate to ask them back for similar work in the future.
Description of Work: David Lee and his father Sang Lee, plus two helpers who have worked with them for three years, completed a punch list of more than 25 items that we needed done before putting our house up for sale. They were recommended by our real estate agent who had the Lees renovate her kitchen, and we were delighted with their work. They did a range of carpentry, electrical, painting and plumbing tasks, none of which was particularly demanding, but all were completed neatly and as promised.
Sang and David were unbelievably amazing to work with right from the estimate through completion and they did absolutely beautiful work. Everything they did looks even better than we imagined it and we could not possibly be happier with them or their work. We would highly recommend them and their work to anyone considering having any home project done. They were punctual, extremely courteous and personable and actually fun to be around. They always considered that we have a small child in our home and were accomodating with that. They always left our house neat and orderly, cleaned up after themselves, respected our time and our home, let us know what was going on (updating with timelines, inspections, etc) and what project was coming up next, and when they expected individual projects to be finished. They stayed on the original timeline that they gave us and did not exceed the contracted price even though there did turn out to be more work than it appeared there would be when the estimate was given.
Description of Work: Sang and David and crew built us a beautiful 7X19 covered porch with a cross-pitch tie-in to our current roof, removed two walls, added a large pass-through in another wall, replaced a wall and added a cubby and a storage area/closet in another area, added custom shelving to a closet, added floor-to-ceiling pickets to an open stairway and turned our garage (which had been convered into two bedrooms) back into a garage. This, of course, included the accompanying electrical and drywall that was required for each area. They also performed several other "minor" tasks for us while they were here including electrical, plumbing, planing (shaving down) doors, hanging an outdoor light fixture, and installing a dog door at no extra charge to us.
David and his team did an outstanding job. Everything looked exactly as I had hoped. In addition to the few odds and ends I had them do as well, they also took it upon themselves to fix an electrical issue and a few other odds and ends without me even asking.(replacing a baseboard and re-gluing and nailing down some creaky stairs) They did all of this without charging me beyond the original estimate, which was a welcomed surprise. I believe the business is co-owned by David and his father. It was nice to have the actual owners of the business working on my home, and not a bunch of subcontractors. They treated my home with respect and cleaned up each day so that I was barely inconvenienced.
Description of Work: Built a new wall to separate master bedroom back into two rooms (wall had been torn down by previous owner to create a giant bedroom) Installed new door, new baseboards and painted to match. Also a few minor projects hanging and fixing some random things around the house.
