Excellent, professional, timely, and reasonable price. The only recommendation would be for the drawings to be 8x10, instead they were thumbnails embedded in a contract, otherwise, very good advice and recommendations.

The person who come did not have any idea of his job!!

As stated in a previous review, we had problems from the beginning. Most of the company response centers on our house being built in the early 1900s and them having "leveling issues". I completely agreed with them, our house is not level, all I asked for was a FLAT floor, knowing it would not be level; I don't think they understood the difference. We have since had to have much of the work they completed and "guaranteed" redone by a different contractor as they made mistakes from the floor to the ceiling. In hiring a new contractor to do the work correctly we found additional issues including incorrectly installing the sub-floor, incorrect wiring and plumbing, incorrect appliance installation and vent lines. James also convinced me I did not need permits and that he would charge me more to get them if I wanted them (not legal and I never should have listened to him). Despite numerous attempts to address issues with James and hold him to his "Don't worry, I guarantee my work" promise I had persistent problems. He even threatened not to attempt fixes under his "guarantee" unless I changed all my Angie's List grades to A. I learned my lesson the hard way, I hope you don't do the same and I would advise anyone to take caution in hiring this company.

End product was great. The company was particularly good about addressing any concerns we had about the finished product in a timely manner. Russ, our manager, was helpful in working with us to keep costs down and providing helpful suggestions on design. Reynaldo, our foreman, and his crew did a great job with the actual construction. Although the project took longer than we had initially anticipated, in the end we now have a great basement to enjoy.

Russell was hands down the most professional of all the contractors who bid on the project. Their bid was middle of the road on cost, but the professionalism was the deciding factor. We did have some communication issues during the project, but nothing that I felt was out of the ordinary. Russell took care of us in the end, so it was an overall good experience. Would definitely recommend Cyrus construction.

Getting a quote and getting started was very easy. Russel knows his business and gave excellent advice. The work started on schedule. That is when issues started. Dust was beyond what one could imagine. Russel told me that I should have told him and somebody would have come to clean but, when one arrives from a trip at 11 pm and the house is so dusty that impossible to step on the floor one has to either go to a hotel or mop the floors in the middle of the night (I chose the second). My son's clothes in the storage closet that is right behind the bathroom have been ruined by dust too -- when removing the tile from the wall, the workers poked a hole into the closet and never did anything about it -- all dust went straight into the closet. I did not find it out until later and had to throw most of the stuff out. When I was away, the doors into the bedroom somehow got opened and left that way -- collecting all the dust that was coming out of the bathroom and the dust curtain that was hang did not do anything to protect the rest of the house. The work was supposed to be done in 2 weeks but it took close to 5. I was away part of the time which resulted in crew not showing up for days in a row (a family member was checking on progress from time to time reporting that nothing changed). I had to chase Russel for days to get a response on what is going on. There was a problem with the floor and additional work had to be added. This was supposed to add 2-3 days but somehow the work took 3 weeks longer. In the end - project completed well, I like the result, the bathroom looks very good. I had a small issue later (the sealent detached from around the newly installed faucet), I emailed to ask if this can be fixed since it was just 2-3 weeks after the work was completed but never was given a response. I am not surprised (but dissapointed).

The best about them was the pricing and workmanship, and the worst part was program management.

I originally found Cyrus Construction on Angie's List when I was looking for bids to compare to a contractor our friends used for a similar renovation. The reviews were great, so I felt good about giving them a call. We ended up choosing Cyrus over the other contractor. From day 1, our project manager, Russell, was awesome to work with. He gave us a very competitive bid for our project, was always available to answer questions, and never chased us down for money or argued with us over pricing. Not to mention, my dogs were actually calm around him, which hardly happens with anyone! We took a little while to kick things off, but once we did, they moved quickly to get everything done. Our lead contractor was Kenny, and he was just incredible. He has over 20 years experience in construction, and has a keen eye for detail. He did everything we asked of him, and more! We could tell he really takes a lot of pride in his work, and will stay late or come in on off days to get something done right. I would not hesitate to recommend Cyrus Construction, or to use them again for future projects. In fact, we will likely call them again when it's time to renovate our upstairs bathrooms. One word of advice I would give (and this is probably true with any contractor or huge project like this) is to be sure you understand what exactly is included in the contract price and what isn't. We ended up having a lot of questions about what materials were covered in the contract price and what was strictly labor, since they were sometimes combined on the contract and sometimes not. Prices that we initially thought were for both labor and materials ended up being just labor, so just be sure you ask about every line item whether that price includes materials or not.

We picked Cyrus Construction to design our basement based on our ideas for the basement. Russell came to our house and was very professional and gave us some ideas. Russell designed the floor plan for us. Although we went with another company for our project (basement cost was out of our price range), we found Cyrus Construction to be a great company. They were very helpful and provided great communication.

Coming on time, and measure the basement, very friendly and polite. Gave me some suggestion and estimation. Easy to communicate. After their work, I have ideas about the plan of remodel and cost.

I really love the finished kitchen, and would absolutely work with Cyrus Construction again. Our onsite manager Van was amazing, and Russell was great as well. As with many construction projects, a few snafus came up that pushed the timeline (unforseen electrical, incorrect cabinets coming in), but the end result was worth all the headache of living without a kitchen for a while. Russell was extremely patient with my many, many questions and helping ease my anxiety at all the mayhem of a remodel. Van was incredibly courteous and I felt the entire time like he genuinely cared about making sure everything came together how he wanted. He was very responsive and had great attention to detail.

Cyrus construction did excellent work on our kitchen remodel. Russell organized and oversaw the work, keeping us informed each step of the way. All of the crew members did their individual jobs well. They were punctual and reliable. We are thrilled with the resulting kitchen.

We were very pleased with the work of Cyrus Construction. Russell was great to work with throughout the project. We couldn't afford to do a major remodel of our kitchen but he suggested a small change in the location of the kitchen sink that improved the layout of the kitchen and the useable counter space and it worked out really well. He helped us pick out the new cabinets, countertops, backsplash and paint but the final decisions on what to get were always up to us. Van was our foreman and he was wonderful to work with on a daily basis and is just a really nice person. He does fabulous work, was always willing to talk through everything he was doing, and made sure we were happy with the progress. The whole crew was very professional and worked hard the entire time they were at the house. The project did take longer than expected, although just slightly over the time frame Russell laid out. Part of the delay was the blizzard that shut things down for the best part of a week, but the delay in the delivery of the tiles while the kitchen was already demo'd was pretty frustrating. Once we got the tiles in, however, the crew made progress quickly. Besides the kitchen, Cyrus also insulated and drywalled a laundry room wall that was destroyed by a plumbing leak. After they did the fix, a pipe burst again (on a Sunday, of course). As our regular plumber was not available I called Russell and he sent Van around to cap the pipe so we could have water in the rest of the house again, at no extra charge. That says a lot about the kind of professional and service-oriented company Cyrus is. I did think the allowances for materials was pretty low; it would have been really difficult to find anything to come in at that budget so we ended up paying more than we anticipated, but we are really pleased with the final result. Overall, we were very happy with Cyrus, we would use them again and highly recommend them.

The contractor was unwilling to provide an estimate on a home I was interested in purchasing. If I buy the house, I am now not interested in using its services.

Will not be building the project until this Fall; will probably use this contractor

It was okay. It was alright. There was no additional cost. He tried to upsell me though. I found it to be kind of incomplete. My expectations were higher than what was actually delivered. If I was to tell friends or family about the service, I would tell them to take a pass.

My wife and I contacted several contractors and Cyrus Construction was one of the companies who was willing to take everything on. Russell Blake arrived on time to look over the house and take in all the information for the estimate. He provided a detailed estimate and was available to answer any of our questions. We decided on Cyrus because of the great communication we had with Russell, the reviews provided on Angie's List and a competitive price. We are really glad that we did! Once the work was started, it was done in a very professional manner. We had the ability to stop by, check in and see how the work was going several times during the renovation. Russell's renovation team would discuss any issues that they had while pointing out the items they had completed. The team would make sure that things were cleaned up at the end of the day. During the course of the work, a serious issue was discovered. One of the support beams for the upper floor had been cut during a previous renovation (prior to my purchase). This had caused numerous issues that I had dealt with over the years. Russell's team corrected the issue and did an excellent job with the drywall work that followed. Once the work was completed, I told Russell, "This house has never looked better in the 15 years that I have owned it." The tile work in each bathroom was superb! The hardwood floors looked magnificent! The drywall work and painting looked brand new. The three renovated bathrooms look great! I can't say enough about how pleased my wife and I are with the renovation.

I really enjoyed my experience with Cyrus. From the beginning, Russell was responsive and trustworthy compared to other contracts we received estimates from. Cyrus also came back with a price that was more to our expectations vs. others that were severely over-charging. after the initial scope was laid out we were quickly given the start date which was only a week or two after we signed the contract. As mentioned above, Russell was very responsive with emails and phone calls. He quickly updated the scope of the project with any changes, but note that this company is VERY busy so make sure you are on top of everything yourself and keeping your own scope in check. Van was the foreman and it was a pleasure having him work on our basement. We'd go down and he'd be very excited to show us the progress he made (he was really the driving force behind the entire project). Every day there was something substantial completed. I am amazed at how he did all of this mostly by himself. Overall, as we sit and enjoy our basement sanctuary, we are grateful that we are able to do something like this and also grateful that we made the right choice in going with Cyrus.

Russell's work was excellent and well work the $99 we paid for it. We had only a slight notion of what we wanted and what could be done with a rather unconventional basement floor plan. His drawings, while 2D, were innovative rendering and were very complete showing locations of lighting fixtures, different kinds of doors, bathroom fixtures, wall finishing and changes, location of electrical outlets and more. I disagree with other Angie's list members that this detail can normally be attained for free. Any person should be paid for their work. The detailed drawings for each section of the basement came with detailed by line estimates for the cost of the work and Russell talked me through changes that could be made to better fit our budget.

I was disappointed overall. It was closer to what should have been a free estimate and I ended up paying $80. They did a plan and I saw it. But I think it was no more than the company should have done for just making an estimate of the work. We didn't go with the company because of a lot of reasons. I had another bidder. I didn't care for the way some things were handled by Cyrus. So, we didn't go with them. 85%-95% of it was fine from my wife's point of view. They should have offered the service at no cost. When I went further with the estimate and was trying to decide between their company and another, I was disappointed with some of the answers I got when I returned to Cyrus with questions.

It did not go that well. According to my wife, who was home when he came, the architect did not ask any questions about what we envisioned for our basement. Instead, he provided us with what he thought would be the best for our space. When we talked to him about it, although he was willing to refund us our money, his attitude was "I do this all the time, and my design is right". I understand that sometimes what the client wants can't be done (for any number of reasons), but what we wanted wasn't crazy or outlandish. I would not use this company, period.

It took a while to get the appointment - well over a month. Although I had to change the date once. But I kept on calling and was finally able to get an appointment. The man who visited knew what he was doing. He was very polite. He measured carefully, went over several times what I wanted and listened. Because this is a basement project, to have a bedroom that would pass code, there would have to be a winidow/door/egress. The patio door was not finished in its conception because this is on a hill and there would have to be considerable excavation, retaining walls, etc. It was not clear from the drawing how this was going to happen at the price proposed. But if and when I follow up , I am confident these details will be resolved.

Once he found my order after several weeks, I talked with them and he looked through his stuff and found it, it went well. He is a good guy. He was very personable when he was here. I would consider using him. There's a lot of competition as you can imagine. Russell was exceptionally professional and courteous. For the $99, the price was great. I have an estimate here to actually do the work which is why they signed on to that deal so that they buy an opportunity. I really can't say anything about the pricing on the proposals they gave me because I haven't really looked at them in depth and I don't know if I am going to actually use them to do any work that may be done. The $99 design itself was good. Russell spent a good amount of time here talking with me, measuring things, and looking at a very quick overview of what he sent me, and the product is certainly worth $99 to me. Once I was able to convince them that in fact I did buy the package and they found me, they were very responsive. I might just have slipped through their cracks.

I'm very satisfied with Cyrus construction. Russell was an absolute gentleman from our first meeting. He has worked tirelessly, and creatively to produce a set of plans to remodel my basement and produced an extensive, detailed quote. Russel takes direction on design very well, and is currently tweaking the design to match my needs.
