I liked working with Gil Watson from the beginning. I met with many plumbers to try and figure out how to prevent our basement from flooding again. Most of them could not even identify the old gate valve in our basement bathroom, much less tell us what we needed to do to prevent city water from flooding our basement again. Gil looked around our entire basement and went outside to determine how the outside drains and sewers could impact the job. The bid was very competitive and lower than a well known, but overpriced Alexandria VA firm. Gil's team were all very polite and hard working. They arrived when they said they would and worked extremely hard when they were at our house. The job was tougher than Gil predicted because the bathroom floor was solid concrete, but they kept working until the project was done. I recommend Gil and Cropp Metcalfe to everyone.

When I re-assumed control of my townhouse from the property management company that had been renting it for the past seven years, I had the furnace checked as one of the many assessment items that needed to be completed before I move back into the townhouse. The technician that examined it indicated that it was very likely that the heat exchanger was cracked. He put me in contact with another person in the company that would discuss what was needed and design the installation for a new furnace. He came that afternoon and was very knowledgeable and helpful. We tentatively arranged a schedule for the installation that accommodated my travel and other work that was taking place at the townhouse. The two-man crew that came for the installation removed the old furnace and installed the new one. It took most of the day. I was well-satisfied with the work.

They are very professional, responsive and punctual. They are reliable and very well trained. $5000 was for the installation of the A/C system.

I was impressed that the company responded to my initial late-night phone call with a call first thing in the morning as I chose not to have an emergency visit. I scheduled the visit with the dispatcher. Around 9:30, the dispatcher called to tell me the technician was on his way. An hour later, he still had not arrived. He finally came at 11:30. He did not have a ladder, so was glad I had one (!). He also had no saw to cut the pipe and improvised using a 5" blade which took forever. Then he did not have any copper pipe in his truck and had to leave to buy some. He fixed about 2" of pipe. When the water was turned back on, he discovered another 10" that needed to be replaced as well. So back to the cutting. He was also somewhat messy with the solder which I am still finding pieces of. Eventually finished the job, but did not check the rest of the pipe which developed more leaks five weeks later. Needless to say, I used another plumber.

I have been using them for 19 years. They don't try to sell you something every time they come out. They take care of the existing problem and that is that.

The serviceman was supposed to come between 1 PM and 5 PM - he came around 7 PM. Overall, he was nice, friendly, and professional. However, when he arrived I was told that there was an additional ladder fee of $150 that I was not told on the phone (this in addition to the $110 fee just to come out and look at the unit). I asked him to call his manager to have this charge taken off, since this was an outrageous charge, and his manager wouldnt budge, saying "well, were expensive". So, I opted not to go with Cropp for my A/C unit and instead went with Polar Bear (also on Angies List), who did a great job for a much more reasonable cost than Cropp would have been.

I referred them to my neighbor and they did an excellent job for her. I'm very pleased with their worksmanship and courtesy and will continue using them in the future.

The service technician was very nice. He even commented that he enjoyed his job and that the company was a good company to work for, in comparison to two other local companies had worked with. I thought the price was very high for the cleaning of the unit, but was relieved to find a company that would respond on-time, seemed to know the type of unit, and was able to provide service in a timely manner. Of course, the problem with the air conditioiner was not fixed and a new unit was recommended.

When we bought our house we used M. Pierre Equipment for our heating/AC work. It was a family business providing honest top-quality work. Pierre was bought out by a succession of companies and is now part of CroppMetcalf. Over the years we have been increasingly dissatisfied with their work. Work has to redone, as it wasnt done right the first time. In the past 2 years they have not honored their service contract with us. Its as if they are playing a bait-and-switch game, always saying something is not covered, and happy to do the work for an additional fee. In addition, they do not have a good score in Washington Checkbook. This is our last year with them. We are getting bids from smaller companies.

Very good with a quick response. A knowledgeable rep. did the work, offering tips on maintenance along the way and cleaned up the area.

THEY SUCK. THEY HAD TO COME BACK A SECOND TIME BECAUSE THEY DIDN'T DO IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. THEY DID REPAIR IT THE SECOND TIME.

VERY PLEASED. THEY EVEN RECOMMENDED LEADS ON PURCHASING CO DETECTORS. THEY ARRIVED PROMPTLY AND HAVE AN ARRAY OF APPOINTMENT TIMES AVAILABLE. FOR ME AND MY SCHEDULE, THE HOURS SOLD ME.

I HAVE USED CROPP METCALFE'S REPAIR SERVICES FOR YEARS. I COUNT ON THEM TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM AND THEN TO WALK ME THROUGH THE OPTIONS AND DECISIONS TO SOLVE THE ISSUE.

I WAS IMPRESSED BY THEIR ATTITUDE AND THE STRENGTH OF THEIR INTEGRITY WHEN THEY MADE GOOD ON AN ERROR THAT THEY HAD MADE, INSTEAD OF TRYING TO COVER IT UP. THE WORK QUALITY COULDNT BE BETTER, EITHER.

WE HAVE NOT BEEN PLEASED AT ALL WITH THIS COMPANY. WE HAVE A CONTRACT WITH THEM AND AS SOON AS OUR CONTRACT ENDS WE WILL BE USING AN ANOTHER COMPANY. I FEEL THAT WE HAVE BEEN VERY MISTREATED.

I AM STILL PLEASED WITH THE NEW HEATING/COOLING SYSTEM IN MY HOME, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAD TO COME BACK ON ANOTHER DAY TO DO THE ACTUAL WORK. WHEN I HAD THEM SCHEDULED ORIGINALLY, THEY BROUGHT THE WRONG FURNACE UNIT WITH THEM. THE WORK WAS SUPER THOUGH.

I THINK THAT I HAD TO WAIT TOO LONG AND THEY HAD TO RETURN THE NEXT DAY BECAUSE IT GOT DARK. I WAS PLEASED WITH THEIR WORK. IT JUST ALL BOILS DOWN THAT HAVING TO REARRANGE MY SCHEDULE FOR THEM WAS RATHER FRUSTRATING.

I HAVE A YEARLY CONTRACT WITH THEM. THEY SEND A REMINDER AND COME OUT EVERY SIX MONTHS TO SERVICE THE FURNACE AND AIR CONDITIONER. THEY COME OUT IMMEDIATELY IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS SERVICE.

THE REPAIR PERSON WHO CAME TO DO THE WORK WAS HIGHLY KNOWLEDGEABLE ABOUT WHAT HE WAS DOING. HE EXPLAINED QUITE CLEARLY WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE UNIT AFTER JUST A FEW MINUTES OF LOOKING AT OUR SYSTEM.

THEY ARE RELIABLE, PROFESSIONAL SERVICE. THEY ARE VERY RESPONSIVE TO CUSTOMERS. THEY BOUGHT UP ALL THE SMALL COMPANIES, BUT THE COMPANY IS VERY RESPONSIVE TO CUSTOMERS AND EMPLOYEE NEEDS. THEY ARE JUST A LITTLE HIGH ON THEIR PRICES. I AM VERY SATISFIED WITH THEM.

ITS A GOOD COMPANY. THEY ARE RELIABLE. I HAVE ALREADY RECOMMENDED THEM TO SOMEONE ELSE. THEY CAME ON TIME FOR THEIR APPOINTMENTS. THE COMPANY WAS ALSO REASONABLE WITH THEIR PRICES.

THEY ARE A GOOD RELIABLE COMPANY. A LITTLE BIT PRICEY BUT THEY ARE GOOD. THEY WERE VERY CLEAN WHEN THEY LEFT. AND I WOULD ALWAYS REFER THEM TO SOMEONE ELSE.

THEY ARE VERY RESPONSIVE, AND VERY PROFESSIONAL. THEY HAVE GOOD PEOPLE WORKING FOR THEM, EVERY ONCE IN AWHILE THEY SEND OUT A BAD GUY, BUT GENERALLY SPEAKING THEY ALL DO FINE.

I WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THE SERVICE PROVIDED BY THIS COMPANY. THE STAFF WERE PROFESSIONAL, WORKED HARD, & CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES WHEN THE JOB WAS DONE.

I FELT THIS IS A AVERAGE COMPANY. NOT TO GOOD NOT TO BAD. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE COMPANY TO USE. THIS COMPANY WILL CHARGE LADDER FEES. THEY TRY TO GET OVER ON PEOPLE, BUT THEY HAVE A GOOD QUALITY OF WORK.
