Called to ask the cost of an estimate - I was transfered to the "sales" department. Asked about an estimate I was told they were free. Great - started to explain the work and got transfered to the plumbing department. Explained what I wanted done and was told there was a $100.00 estimate fee which included $10.00 fuel charge. Given that gas prices are back to the level before fuel charges - I thought this was outrageous. Plus who tells a customer that they give free estimates and then tell them 30 seconds later that the cost is $100.00 and expects the customer to think this is a good business?

They were efficient and good people. They came in and did what they were supposed to do and took care of me.

I switched from them to B and B because they kept finding things wrong that are really, really pricey and I was concerned that I was trying to be milked. The things that they told me that was wrong, when I had B and B come in, B and B could not find those things wrong. They told me I had to replace my entire heating and air-conditioning unit, and 3 years later I still haven t had to. I don t believe you should let them do anything that costs money without getting a second opinion.

I have a service contract with them, so they come regularly twice a year. They are expensive, but they are very reliable so I have stayed with them. Overall, I have been happy with them.

I have used them over the years and have come to rely on the level of service they provide. They do what they say they will do and when they say they are going to do it.

Workers were on time, finished work as promised, sales rep followed up during and after installation and handled all paper work for manufacturer rebate.

We have been with the company since they purchased another company that we used to use. I think that their service is acceptable, but I am seriously considering not renewing the contract with them. I think that they are a bit pricey and we never see the same service technician twice.

Very well. I will only use them going forward. Other heating and air conditioning companies have always tried to get me to replace the unit, primarily because of its age I think, not necessarily its condition.

They showed up on time. They explained what they were going to do. If there is a problem, they explain how they are going to repair it. They are very knowledgeable. They are easy to get a hold of.

When I told him I could not keep his appointment for him to close the deal in person, I could tell he was dimmissing me. I asked again for him to mail his bid/prices to me, but to this date, the following week, he's refused to respond. I called the main office and left message with no apparent effect. So, I received 4 of the 5 bids, and will very well never know what this company would have charged me to install a hybrid heat pump system to replace my existing A/C system. It was kinda crappy that, me the consumer/end user, could not control the sale or the bidding process but had to meet with this salesperson on his terms or not at all. I invite any comments from the salesperson to the contrary...but it is too late for them.

It never worked and they never came back to fix it. They said they ordered a part and the part never came. I got too busy to keep checking up on them so I never got it fixed.

I have been using this company for the past thirteen years. We had switched to natural gas and had them install the equipment. We have been happy with their service ever since. I feel that their prices are mid range for my area.

I can already feel the difference. They are very professional.

A couple of weeks later, while we were on vacation, there was a leak in the air conditioning system that resulted in water damage on the 1st and second floors. The ceilings had to be repainted to the tune of several hundred dollars. When we called to complain, they sent someone out who said that the leak was not caused by the work they did but some other part of the system. Since the initial visit was to give the system an overall checkup to make it more efficient it is very difficult to believe that it wasn't something they did that caused the second problem. They refused to pay for the painting repair job.

They are very professional, they come out twice a year. They are on time and very prompt. We have had two failures on the ac that put in. That are related to the unit itself. They are very responsive, they have fixed the problems and did not charge us for it.

I did not like the way the charge. Instead of charging per hour, they charge per item. It was very expensive. They work was great, but I just felt like I got overcharged.

They were prompt, professional and very knowledgeable. They were fair price wise. It was easy to set up a contract with them and they will be coming twice a year.

They are very reliable and courteous. Their rates are about the average market. They make up for it by excelling in customer service. They are very clean and respectful about being inside my home. One guy was very thoughtful about his work he took nine hours to fix a part on our air conditioner on the hottest day of the year.

It went great. They came when they said they would. They were only there for a couple of hours, he fixed the problem and did not try to upsell me at all.

They installed the drip pan incorrectly, resulting in me being awakened in the middle of the night by dripping water on my bed. After contacting the company, they sent someone out right away to fix the problem. The technician did, but he tracked mud from my A/C unit through my house. The company would not pay to clean the carpet. I feel that they are irresponsible. I would also advise customers to read contracts and waivers before you sign them.

Excellent. Fred Whitman, the sales rep., was extremely knowledgeable and responsive. He was the main reason for my choosing Cropp Metcalfe over other companies. The work was done timely and in a wholly satisfactory manner. The installation techs were also knowledgeable and professional. These people and this company are the best.

They charged me $2160 to run the additional gas line upstairs. I noticed a quarter sized wet spot in the basement. While they were here, Eddie Smoot the supervisor told me my water heater was really old but I told him it wasn't. He told me I could replace it that day but I declined to do so at that time. I did have it removed and replaced by another company later but that company told me that my existing water heater was just fine, it didn't need to be replaced and it would have gone for another 10 years. They also advised if someone knocks a certain way on the water heater, you will get a wet spot due to the condensation and that this is what some companies do to drum up business. Eddie Smoot showed a real lack of ethics and this is one of the reasons why we would not use this company again. They also showed lack of ethics when they refused to come back out until we had spoken with Fairfax County first.

Dan and his work partner arrived at 7:30 am and left that night at 10 pm. I don't think they stopped for lunch or dinner. I think they felt sorry for us. We had been without heat for four days and the outside temps were in double digits. The house was very cold. They were going to get us some heat before they left. And they did. They were very neat and pleasant. Explained everything. Very professional.

Service visit went fine but after the tech left, the AC did no kick back on. We called to report and got sifted on the phone a bit. But they said the tech would come back. It was hot day and we were upset. However, Nick came back and worked very hard for a couple hours to fix the problem. He said since he had just been out and completed a service, there would be no charge for the repairs. We were very happy. Will call them for all our AC and Heating needs.
