Description of Work: I have used Cropp Metcalfe for 18 years. I had them put in 2 different Heating and Air conditioning units for 2 homes, house humidifiers, plus whole house duct cleaning. In my opinion they are the best company in the area to go with for heating, air conditioning and the similar. They have very knowledgable technicians, they are punctual and professional (careful to cover feet for white carpet or wood floors). The company has stood behind their installations etc. I did have to contact management when a brand new Carrior unit died within two days of install; the company sent out an entire new unit and installed again without any "arguements". So I rate their customer service as excellent. I recommend always getting one of their bronze, silver or gold maintence plans they are worth the money. If you have one of these maintenence plans, they put you at the top of the service call list if you have a problem. A tech came out at 11:00 at night to fix my air conditioning unit (blower motor died) and was able to sleep in the cool. They have 24 hour emergency service....not many companies here (D.C. Metro area) offer that. Their prices might be just slightly higher than a little company...but you get so much more with Cropp Metcalfe that a few dollars difference is WELL worth calling them.

Description of Work: We came home from vacation and had turned off the entire house water in the basement before we left. Trying to turn it back on the flange broke off. It was 5:30 on a Sunday night. We called the emergency number and they were there within an hour. Fixed in another hour. Had to weld in a new piece of pipe and put on a new way to turn the water on and off. I am a gold customer with Cropp Metcalf so am treated with priority. To me this is a lifesaver.

Description of Work: We had a contract over a couple of years but let it lapse since overall we were quite disappointed. The contract is expensive and really doesn't cover many costs. Some of their service people were more interested in selling additional services than repairs. They did do one valuable late night emergency service performed by a competent repairman. The pricing of their contract services are incredibly confusing - very hard for consumers to understand. The final straw was a scheduled inspection checkup which reviewed and approved our unit, only to have the entire pump fail almost immediately after the repairman left. They were adamant about charging us full freight for both the inspection and the following repair. I would look elsewhere.

Description of Work: Overflow tube clogged - the technician cleared out the tube, installed and easily reached clean-out trap, installed a sensor that would shut down the AC system if there were overflow through the furnace blower that would ruin the furnace unit. Coolant was added - both AC units topped up.
