Description of Work: I was referred by a friend about 15 years ago to Creager Electrical Services. I've called on there services many times over the years. Recently they came to my home at my convenience(7PM) to remove an existing ceiling fan and replace it with a new one. Turns out the original fan was wired incorrectly(not up to code). They fixed the problem for me at no additional charge. Hats off to this company- they do great work at a reasonable price.

The derecho storm that hit the east coast the evening of June 29th caused an extreme amount of damage in Northern Virginia. In our particular case a 25 foot Bradford Pear in the back yard came down and took our power line with it. The force of that tree falling on the line also pulled the power box and meter off the house. It took several calls to Dominion Virginia Power over the next two days to get straight what we had to do. They were obviously overwhelmed and the best estimate we could get was maybe by the end of the week or following weekend we would get power back. We were also told we would need to get an electrician to repair all the damage to the load side of the line before the power company would even attempt to schedule repairing the power line coming from the pole. Of course, this was in the middle of a record breaking heat wave and we, along with all our neighbors, were suffering mightily. Monday I called Mark Creager and he said he would look at the job that afternoon. He did and we shook hands on the deal. He said he would be back the next day at noon and he was. Mark also told me I would no longer need to deal with the power company or the Fairfax County Inspector; he would take care of that communication as part of the service. Imagine my surprise when at 1:30 AM that night I got a call from Mark informing me that a Dominion Virginia Power truck would be at our home shortly to drop the power line so he could do his side of the job on Tuesday. How he pulled this off when the power company was so overburdened; I don?t know and Mark would just smile when asked. He and his helper, Paul, facing a very difficult task, completed a very professional job. To my surprise again, the Inspector showed up and we got our approval so the power company could go ahead with their effort. The final small miracle happened just as Mark and Paul were finishing and cleaning up; the power company showed up to fix the line to the pole. As I write this, I still wonder if this was just serendipity or some kind of electrician?s good ol' boy network. We went from thinking we wouldn?t have power until the weekend to having it Tuesday evening. When I asked Mark about this extraordinary bit of timing magic, again, he just smiled. To say that I and my family were extremely grateful to Creager Electrical Services and satisfied customers doesn?t quite explain it. We feel that we made a new friend we can trust when things go wrong.
Description of Work: Replaced electrical box and meter plus cabling from outside to inside panel. This cabling and panel was torn off by a severe storm.

After receiving a few other estimates, I received a call back from Mark after using the email link on his website. He came out to the house, and got into the broad strokes of the kitchen renovation, but unlike everyone else went to check the master panel. I am no master electrician, but even I could tell it needed to be upgraded to a more modern system. After taking some time to inspect the situation, he suggested (the only one who did) that we upgrade the panel, as well as thoroughly explained to me what doing changes to the kitchen means. Everything was explained in excellent detail, even on his invoices, so I had a thorough understanding of what needed to be done and have an intelligent conversation. Overall, Mark and his installers were incredibly knowledgeable, professional and courteous, and never once gave me a reason to be concerned about anything. A huge sigh of relief. Price wise, I would say he is middle-to-upper in the price range, but you get what you pay for. As I said, other estimates came in lower, but I have no doubt the job they would have done would be below quality. Quality wise, excellent. The installs have been neat and tidy, the walls have the wiring tightly installed, and I have the utmost confidence it is done correctly because I have gotten a full education along the way. Lastly, he was able to help me navigate working with Dominion to get the process started to run service underground, and work with other people like a carpenter to install a fake wall I needed for a special plumbing situation. Can't say enough great things. Will be using him again for what I am sure will be many more projects to come over the next several years.
Description of Work: Full Panel Upgrade, Bringing Kitchen Electrical up to meet and exceed code, have a vision for how the renovation will look the best through use of his services (design).

I had an excellent experience with Creager Electrical. Mark Creager was extremely responsive and helpful when I had several questions about my electrical project (installing a new electrical circuit for an over-the-range microwave) and was readily available by both phone and email. He even came out on the weekend for a free estimate and went over several options while thoroughly explaining each option. Mark went the extra mile and spent time giving me a bit of an electrical education so that I could better understand my electrical system and be a better homeowner. Once we had decided on an option, Mark was able to come out the next day and complete the work. He removed my stove hood, located and disconnected the wiring feeding power to hood, supplied and installed a new 120 Volt, 15 Amp electrical circuit and receptacle for my new microwave (which he would have installed but it was not delivered until several days later). He was on time and very professional and completed the work very quickly and with great attention to detail. My job required Mark to cut holes in the drywall and he was extremely meticulous to make sure the holes were as small as possible. The work Mark did was of high quality and everything is working perfectly. I would highly recommend Mark for any electrical project: he is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and helpful and also had very competitive quotes. It is rare that you find a combination of both value and quality. I got quotes from several different electrical companies and while I did find one company that was cheaper, they did not seem to have the level of knowledge, professionalism and expertise Mark did. I also found that several companies only offered me one solution to my electrical problem. Mark offered me several options and explained the pros and cons to each option.
Description of Work: I am remodeling my kitchen and purchased all new appliances. Above my range was a vent hood and I wanted to replace that with a microwave. In order for the microwave to work I needed a new electrical circuit installed. Mark removed my stove hood, located and disconnected the wiring feeding power to hood, supplied and installed a new 120 Volt, 15 Amp electrical circuit and receptacle for my new microwave.

The process went very well. We knew Mark Creager from other difficult, emergency work he had done for us years back. This time we wanted to remove the unsightly flexible service entrance cable that wrapped around the garage walls and raise the system's amperage. Although his proposal was not cheap, we trusted Mark Creager's professional capacity and accepted the proposal. We are happy with the outcome.Mark Creager and his two assistants worked intensively for about 3 days. The project was laborious: they had to remove the existing wire within the plastic cable, remove the cable itself, install new tubing across the attic, insert copper wire inside the tubing, and then connect with the circuit breaker box in the attic and a new main breaker outside. At the end, we had new, shiny tubes along the garage walls instead of the old cable, a new, elegant external main breaker box, and a much improved electrical system. As a side job, his team also opened a new entrance to the attic and improved the lighting along the attic. Mark Creager and his team were efficient, resourceful, and corteous, and we would trust them with any major electrical work in the future.
Description of Work: Replaced the service entrance cable with copper wire encased in rigid conduit. The conduit consisted of metallic tubing installed neatly along both interior walls of the garage and through the attic.Upgraded the electrical service from 150 to 200 amperes, including a new external main circuit braker and new interior circuit braker.Installed new lamps in the attic and upgraded several outlets.

Mr. Creager came out to look at the electrical systems for a house I was buying. He came highly recommended by my realtor, who has used him for work in her own home. He was very knowledgeable and capably explained to me my options for upgrading the electrical systems in the house. I will definitely hire him when the time comes to do the upgrades. His prices are a bit on the higher end, but my understanding is that the quality is first-rate.
