Donna Dawes is a true professional, and her crews do GREAT work, on time and on budget. We have hired them for both external and internal painting, and we have not been disappointed. I highly recommend Color Expressions Painting.

Rescheduled painting date and scheduler forgot to let me know the new date. Painter arrived unexpectedly, and we had to reschedule. Carlos did a great job painting and was professional.

Donna came out to look over the bedroom and provide a quote. The quote provided was for painting the room, doing the accent wall and trim in a lighter color and providing the paint. She was super nice, professional and easy to speak to. Scheduling was a breeze with the painter, Carlos, arriving promptly on the date requested. He was so-o-o polite, did a beautiful job and cleaned up the room perfectly after he finished. The only problem was due to a communication error among Donna, Carlos and myself, the room was painted a different color! Yeap, I didn't check on the work while it was in progress so didn't notice it until it was done. Anyway, it was a nice color and I decided to go with it. Donna came out a couple of days later to complete the accent wall and the wall turned out just as it should with a "ragged" look. Even though the walls weren't painted exactly the color I requested, overall the job turned out pretty. Here's the kicker...about three weeks later, Donna emails me with a follow-up check-in. Now that the color had been in place for a while Donna wanted to know if I was still satisfied to keep the color. Knowing that I did not get the original color I wanted Donna wrote that if I would like to have it painted the color I originally requested, she would provide the labor to get it done and I only needed to provide the paint. I took her up on the offer and today Carlos came back out to repaint the walls in the paint that I purchased. The room is now the color I originally requested and it is beautiful. Both Donna and Carlos are great people to work with and I will happily refer them to friends and family. In fact, I'm looking to have DH's "man cave" painted someday and I will be giving Color Expressions a call! Donna's professionalism and integrity goes a long way to overcome any inconvenience in having the room painted twice.

The painting job turned out good. I was a little disappointed with the company. No one showed up for the first appointment and they never called me. They also missed one part of the house and when the painter came back, he blamed it on me.

I purchased an Angie's List Deal that offered 4 hours of handyman work for $400. I had a bathroom cabinet painted (using a Rustoleum Furniture Transformations kit) and also a ceiling fan light fixture installed. The cabinet painting took a little longer than I'd anticipated due to drying time between coats so I paid for an extra hour and a half at their regular labor rate, but it was my own fault for not factoring in drying time for this project. Also, I was happy to pay the extra in order to have the job done in one day and not to have to do it myself. I dealt with Donna & Carlos at Color Expressions and they were both extremely friendly, knowledgeable and professional. They were able to fit me in for my very last-minute request and I really appreciated that they were able to accommodate me (patience isn't one of my virtues!). Carlos arrived right on time and got right to work. The espresso-colored paint on the bathroom vanity/cabinet gives the room a whole new look at a fraction of the cost to have a brand new cabinet installed and I couldn't be more pleased! While the first coat of paint was drying, Carlos installed the light fixture on a bedroom ceiling fan for me and I'm extremely happy with that as well. I would definitely recommend Color Expressions Painting to a friend for painting and/or odd jobs!!

The team led by Roger (the foreman) arrived on time (0830) and went right to work preparing the foyer and hallway for wall preparation. Roger and I walked around and discussed the work to ensure we were in synch. The team prepared the walls, repaired nail pops and drywall tape. They began work and only stopped for lunch. They finished the day at 5:30 after storing all of their equipment. The next day they arrived at 0830 and completed the job at around 4:30, a day ahead of schedule. I walked around with Roger and pointed out areas needed touch-up, which he immediately had done. In all, my wife and I are extremely satisfied with the performance of the team and of the completed paint job. I would definitely use this firm and team again. An interesting and a real testimony to the excellence of the firm. The owner, Donna Dawe, stopped by to look at the finished work and saw some flaws that she wanted fixed. My wife and I had missed them Donna and her crew came back and fixed the flaws that she saw and looked at the completed work again to ensure she was satisfied. A real positive note on quality and performance.

They were expensive and also did some outside work for us. I was pleased with them. I put in a paper for consultation and we discussed what paint we wanted to use. She had good questions and produced estimates very quickly. She showed up on time and did an excellent job. They cleaned up after themselves. I would use her again. The work was high quality and it was not the cheapest but not the most expensive. Most of them are hyspenic and only one of them spoke English. They were very responsive.

The painters arrived as scheduled. One of them spoke English well enough to clearly communicate our expectations and desires. We had done the easy walls/ceilings and wanted them to finish the cutting in, baseboards, and so on. We gave them a prioritized list with numerical links between the parts to paint and the paint cans to reduce confusion. They offered a few thoughts on things they could do, or thought should be done that we hadn't thought of, and we appreciated that. The final product was solid, there were some quality, like dripping on the tile, and cutting in/clean lines that I had slightly higher expectations for professionals, but it wasn't a major deal by any chance. We didn't pay anything extra beyond the Big Deal, which I thought was a decent deal, but not spectacular.

We liked that they came to our place and did the work in person.

We contacted Color Expressions for an estimate for interior painting, after reading Angie's List reviews. Scheduled an estimate though AL, all went well. Estimator was prompt and courteous, turned proposal around quickly, price was very reasonable, then waited for our reply. Difficulties arose when it came to reviewing the proposal and trying to schedule the work. Some sloppiness with initial proposal resulted in some questions. We specified Benjamin Moore Paint, contractor uses Sherwin Williams. Contractor requested a $20 upcharge per gallon, if we wanted to use BM paint, which we (reluctantly) agreed to. Tried to schedule the work, asked twice for dates. Contractor finally responded saying she could schedule one painter for four days (what could easily done by two painters in two days.) Agreed to schedule, but then had to request a new date when our kitchen flooded. Asked contractor to paint all of the others areas, in the house, then come back and finish kitchen when repairs were done. She refused, saying that the "crew" wanted to "knock all of the work at once." Following the kitchen repairs, we made some minor changes to the painting scope, which resulted in Color Expressions placing some confusing language in the updated proposal, so we made edits to the SOW, signed and returned the proposal, and scheduled the work to be done, organizing several other contractors (carpet, flooring) around the painters. 48 hours before they were scheduled to arrive, I asked for the agreement, which I had not gotten back. Contractor rejected the changed documents, stating they couldn't compare the two, and then proceeded to cancel the scheduled work, saying that her "crew" had called, and needed to move the date into June (three weeks from now). Explanation given: this is busiest time of the year for their exterior paint crews, and sometimes cancellations "happen". As we needed the work to be done during a specific time, to accommodate all of the contractors working on the house, we were forced to find another contractor. My impression is that Color Expressions is a painting contractor "middleman", and rather than using their own workers and personally overseeing the work, they are left (and leave their customers) to the mercy of "crews" they hire, over which they have very little control.

Painted living room/dining room and stairwell. Painting completed in one day by 2 or 3 painters. Painters arrived on time, were polite, neat and professional. Quality of work was very good - would definitely use this company in the future.

We purchased an Angie's List one day painting deal. A week before the job, they cancelled due to staffing issues. We had scheduled in extra days to allow for unforeseen circumstance such as this, so we rescheduled. Then 3 days before the 2nd date, they cancelled again due to staffing issues. We wasted an entire month with this company, after paying in full, up front. Now will not have the painting done before the next phase of our larger project. We purchased this deal up front through Angie's list and request a full refund.

It went well. They may have painted more.

My first impression of the owner was great. She was prompt, friendly and I thought her feedback was pretty honest. She even gave me a heads up that the big deal would be expiring in the event that I wanted to purchase it and utilize it for services. I had a good feeling that unfortunately turned out to be wrong. Workers were scheduled quickly and showed up on time, if not early. The quality of the work was not good. It was reminiscent of if you'd had a painting party and bought your friends pizza and beer for their time. Certain aspects of it were sloppy. There were white paint splotches on my wood work on the stair well, on some of my door handles and on the walls above the door frames that had been painted. There were also small parts that could have used an extra touch up or second coat of paint that were not done and there was a paint stain left on my carpet. The workers even left urine dribble on my toilet. Even with all of that, the grade would have been an overall C. It was after all a deal and significantly discounted. What brings the grade down is that after I communicated my concerns and displeasure with the quality of work, every email correspondence or conversation had an air of being argumentative or accusing me of being at fault after the fact for not watching them closely or buying Behr paint or the workers saying that I hadn't supplied them with something that they never asked for. They did come back and address my complaints with the work the following week, but the experience was more exhausting than it needed to be. Discount or not, I expected the quality of the work and experience to be better.

They did an excellent job. They were prompt, they showed up when they said they would, and they were very professional. The team was great and the painting experience was perfect. They did a great job and I would use them again.

They showed up on time. They did an adequate job, finished on time, and I thought it was worth the money.

Exterior work went quite well. The crew first power-washed our home and the next morning went right to work. The house was sorely in need of a paint job and the crew did an awesome job in brightening up the house. They also stained the front and back doors, too. The crew left the home free of debris and in the grounds in the same condition before work began. The cost of the exterior paint project was $2,680.00. The interior job took a total of three days for a crew of about four or five men. The crew foreman, Walter, was very courteous and very approachable. Prior to job completion my wife and I conducted a walk through and pointed out a few areas we thought needed just a wee bit tweaking. No problem- those few areas were addressed quickly and professionally and to our satisfaction. I was extremely impressed of the care of each of the painters in the crew, especially in the ?cut in? areas where the molding met the floor and ceilings. This was an especially tricky area requiring patience and attention to detail. We have wooden flooring in the upper level with about a ½ inch of wooden molding topped by about 3 inches of wall molding. The painters were especially careful not to paint the wood molding trim. Additionally our home has cathedral-style wooden ceiling which was not in any need of any staining or painting. The trim area around the ceiling was painted without any paint brushed onto the ceiling areas. We also had two basement bedrooms with significant surface issues concerning the bedroom ceilings. The crew puttied, patched, sanded and leveled the ceiling surfaces masterfully. With new paint applied to the ceilings and walls, the ?after? change of the bedrooms was amazing. Also the painting crew painted all of our closets in the home and what a difference this made. The closets looked fresh and good-as-new. The cost of the interior paint project was $4,458.00. We liked Color Expressions? work so much that we hired Color Expressions Painting to repair our stand-alone shed and our patio shed in December 2013.

I purchased an Angie's deal for 16 hours of painting for $499. The workers were punctual, professional and polite. Overall the job was quite good, but there were was one aspect of the job that I wish had turned out better. There were a couple of spots where the painted wall met the tile wainscoting that the paint bled into the grout. The walls are a dark blue and the tile is white, so the three tiny spots where the paint bled into the grout are noticeable. If it were not for these three spots, I would have graded them an A.

I called the company first and set up an appointment for a complimentary estimate / review of the job. Color Expressions was very accommodating in setting up the appointment around my schedule. Donna was early to the appointment and took the time to discuss the project in detail and quickly sent a contract for my review and signature. We were able to set the work appointment up for the following Friday, again to accommodate our work schedule. Two painters showed up on time (9:00 am) and stayed until the work was complete. The work included repairing two seam cracks on two different ceilings, repairing corner bead work, and painting numerous items in the house. Painting included two ceilings, corner beads and closet doors. We provided the paint and the painters brought all other supplies. They were very careful to cover all the furniture when repairing and painting the ceilings. Additionally, they took the time to properly fix the corner beads and applicable touch up paint. They worked the full 8 hours each and were very accommodating. I would most definitely use Color Expressions again if I needed their services.

Biggest disappointment was the office people said they would need two gallons of paint per room. They did not use any where near the two gallons. When looking closer the reason they did not use the two gallons was because they only did one coat instead of two coats like the description said. Painting three bedrooms in only one day was probably more work then they could handle.

The job done by the two painters that we had for the day was done very well. I originally hoped to have two rooms completed, but the first room ended up needing substantial re-taping and a second coat which made that room much more of a challenge. They were, however, able to get the re-taping done in the second room which will make painting it much easier. The newly painted room looks great! Only snafu in the process was that Donna (the owner) originally scheduled them to arrive on Monday at 9:00AM, and I received an email at 8:55AM saying that she made a scheduling error and they would not be able to arrive until Tuesday. I did not see the email until 45 minutes later while waiting for them to arrive. I would expect a phone call as opposed to an email when it comes to a reschedule. In the end, the job was performed well and I would not hesitate to use them again in the future.

My living room was driving me nuts. The once white paint was greyed and dingy from a past grease fire and smokey candles, and I had put up crown molding but never finished it off. Some of it was sagging at the end and needed to be re-nailed. The molding and baseboard were white but the window frames and wood trim between the panes (I have 8 panes per sash) were off-white so did not match. The previous paint job was lousy with roller marks across the ceiling. It really needed to be re-done but I couldn't find the time to do it myself. Color Expressions came recommended by a friend. I called on a Friday and Donna was able to set up an appointment for the following Monday. She arrived on time and was very professional and courteous. She understood my concerns and what I wanted and was able to make helpful suggestions and explain how the prep work would be done to avoid having the smoke bleed through the new paint. I received a detailed estimate for the job per email the next day. We clarified a few minor details and she re-sent a modified estimate the same day. We set up an appointment for the painters to come on Friday, but a scheduling problem changed the date to Thursday of that same week so I had to hustle to get everything out of the way. They arrived early with a crew of 3 and started to work immediately. It was a bit loud for awhile as I'm in a small townhouse and they did a large amount of sanding, spackling and nailing that could be heard upstairs. They all seemed to enjoy their work as there was some singing and laughing as well. After a short lunch break they were back at it. They had the furniture back in place and were packed up and leaving before 4 pm. The results were stunning. I had already purchased the paint, but they had sanded the worst of the roller marks off the ceiling, fixed a crack in the ceiling,repaired nail pops and spackled nail holes on the walls where I had pictures - they asked ahead of time if I wanted the holes covered or if the pictures were to go back in the same place, so the choice was mine. Everything was covered with a sealing primer, the crown molding was finished and caulked beautifully, the baseboard was re-caulked and painted, the window trim now matches the rest of the trim and the room now looks beautiful. It would have taken me many days to do what they did - assuming I could ever find the time - and it would likely still not have come out as nice. My only minor complaint is that there was a thin layer of dust from the sanding that covered everything downstairs - they probably would have had to hermetically seal the living room to prevent that - but I did spend a while mopping and dusting as I did not want my cats to walk through that and then lick their paws. So less than a week after calling Color Expressions, I have a beautiful living room that I can now really enjoy. I am extremely pleased with the results and will absolutely use this company again when I have another painting project.

Do not use this company! I gave the company a simple list of what needed to be done when they came to my home to do the estimate for the bathroom. I gave the a printout of all the paints and primer that were needed to do the job. The company continuously could not get the quote right. The company augured with me that the Benjamin Moor oil impervo paint did not need 24 hours between coats. The company was going to use oil primer on my walls and ceiling, when they were going to be painted with latex paint and the company refused to change the quote to make it right and wrote me a nasty email. I wouldn't trust this company to help you if something goes wrong on the job. I wouldn't trust them to file the instructions on the paint cans.

The timeliness and quality of the work was excellent. They showed up on time. It was easy to schedule. They completed the project in one day and cleaned up after themselves. Will use agian if I need anything else painted.
