2nd review. 3 years ago I left a glowing review about Colonial. Chas Kubrick is AMAZING!! They were professional, the construction team did a fabulous job and I think I only found 3 nails. I purchased the upgraded roof and upgrade for beautiful Hardie siding. Fast forward to today and I'm leaving a 1 Star review. Why? Because last week I called about some problems and learned that they only warranty their work product for 2 years~ small but important fact that must have been in the contract and I missed. It certainly wasn't spoken. I recall the wonderful Hardie as well as the CertainTeed Roof warranties but nothing about a 2 year repair warranty from Colonial. Given that information would I have chosen a different company? Of course! I have 2 major problems, a leak inside of my sunroom as well as a problem with the siding which has destroyed a window and French door. A technician came out for the door and explained the when the siding was installed on the deck, they failed to do the flashing. And well, you can see in results in the pictures. When contractors come to provide estimates without missing a beat, each says I shouldn't be having these problems after 3 years and that Colonial should repair. I explain the 2 year clause they laugh and proceed to share their warranties and that Colonials isn't the standard. Two years? That's the honeymoon stage problems seldom arise. So, here we are, either file a claim with the roof and siding manufacturers, pay out of pocket OR file a claim with my insurance company. Each option sucks because I went with a company which doesn't provide an actual warranty for their work product. Don't be me, be better.

Colonial Remodeling LLC has poorly responded to multiple request (email and calls) to fix a leak in my roof. 2017 they installed a new roof and gutters on my house. I currently have a leak in three areas in the roof and no one has even responded or been helpful at all. Labor and materials are still under warranty. This is not a good business practice if they can't even respond.

Due to a storm we finally were able to get our roof fixed. Colonial Remodeling has a great reputation and Chas was extremely professional and knowledgeable about the process. The best part is that it was covered through my insurance.

Colonial Remodeling has always been prompt and very thorough with all their documentation while we were working with our insurance company on a Hail/Wind damage claim. If it were not for their knowledge on how the process works and what to ask/prove to the insurance company, we would not have had our claim payout increased by $16K. I would/will go to them first for every remodeling need - I trust their work and honesty!

I am a 90 yr. old home owner of a rental property in North Arlington that unfortunately caught fire the beginning of 2020. A couple years ago my neighbor hired Colonial for a roof replacement from a hail storm. He told me his insurance company was giving him a hard time to get his roof approved and he hired Colonial Remodeling to help get a full approval and stated they did a beautiful job so referred me to them. Not only did Colonial perform the whole mitigation and gutting of my house quick and efficient, they completed the whole job beyond my expectations. They also negotiated with my insurance company 3 times to make sure I did not have to come out of my pocket at all. Colonial’s architect went the extra mile to help re-design the interior and help pick out all my appliances and accessories because I’m not physically capable of going store to store. I couldn’t be happier with every step of the process. The final Arlington County inspection passed with flying colors and I was able to get my home back up for rent with zero speed bumps thanks to Colonial.

Terrible they initially took a down payment and I never heard back from them for 4 months. Then when I advised them we were not going to use them and was cancellling the insurance check. They tried to sue me for that amount so we allowed them to do the work. They put a roof on and had to do redo it. The siding was acceptable but the painting was terrible. I would avoid this company at all cost!

In the 4 months of “not communicating”, the Colonial Team was able to assist in adding $14,605.82 to this customer's storm damage claim. We were able to increase the homeowner’s insurance estimate by noticing missed hail damage to the property and bringing it to the attention of their insurance company. Thanks to our dedicated storm damage team, the project that once included just partial siding now included a FULL siding replacement. Once we received word from their insurance company that full approval was granted based on our estimate of missed damage, our representative quickly reached out to the homeowner. Unfortunately, the homeowner notified our representative that he “spent” the initial insurance funds. Since this is a breach of contract and we had expenses on this project already, we had no choice but to take legal action. Upon realizing his legal position, the homeowner came back very upset - hence all of the complaints and accusations about tools being stolen. We took the matter seriously, investigated these accusations and do not believe this occurred. We have never in 25 years of business had a complaint about any of our customer’s property being stolen and take offense to these accusations. We stand by our loyal crew in this instance. Furthermore, the homeowner never filed charges for the “stolen property”. Regarding Mr. [Member Name Removed]’s roof installation, Colonial did not properly install a starter strip shingle while applying the roofing system. While this only affected 5% of the entire install, the Colonial Production Team tore off the entire roofing system and did a COMPLETE REDO of the roof install with ALL NEW materials. Like all contractors, Colonial does make occasional mistakes; however, we service our labor warranty EVERY time to make sure our customers get the best result possible. As for the siding being acceptable? This James Hardie install was flawless and looks beautiful. This person is clearly upset he was unable to breach his contract and pocket insurance funds.

Our neighbors had their roof replaced by this company and the interaction I had during the replacement was horrible. I understand that replacing a roof is not easy work but find it so unprofessional that my yard has to be littered with roofing nails, staples and debris because of the lack of work ethic from the contractors they contracted the job out to. When calling to complain and let the company know what I had been dealing with all day, the woman I spoke with was extremely rude and thought it was actually funny. The company needs to work on their customer service and how staff handles complaints. If a homeowner next to their current job site is complaining of how the workers are handling things you should not give a rude response and say "thats how you replace a roof." The female that answered the phone was completely unprofessional and should be retrained on how to handle issues. She was extremely argumentative and was more worried about giving excuses then listening to what I had to say. I will be sure to pass on just how unhelpful and rude the staff was to make sure that another home in our neighborhood does not use their services. I caution anyone who is looking at using this company to look else where. It is a true statement of how a business is ran when you deal with someone who likely has ownership in the company and they make a mockery out of a situation and are more worried about talking over you then actually taking care of it. Offering to call the lead on the job does me no good when I have dealt with cleaning up debris out of my yard all day because your staff is too lazy to actually put the debris properly in the large dumpster that sat in the middle of the road ALL afternoon.
Description of Work: They did the work on my neighbors roof and I dealt with issues ALL DAY LONG - The individually whom I assume is an owner that answered the phone was so rude and should learn how to deal with issues in a professional matter.

Thank you for your thoughts. I think we both know that our team did everything possible to appease you and your concerns. We offered to clean your yard at least ten times. It seems that you just wanted to yell at our office staff instead of allowing them to solve the problem. Furthermore, you were verbally abusive to our crew chief who was running around your yard doing his best to clean the job site. It was windy that day. A roof install is a construction site. I am not sure what else we could do but offer to clean up? Our actual customers (your neighbors) were a joy to work with and their new roof looks amazing. I am sorry you could not be even slightly understanding for the HALF A DAY it takes to complete. Again, we did everything we could to please you. However, our staff does not need to allow you to verbally abuse them and our crew in order to achieve your unrealistic expectations.

Ken was very responsive, detail-oriented, and a real pleasure to work with. He oversaw the whole process from initial insurance assessment to final walk through of the job. The roofing crew was very courteous, professional and efficient. The clean up was incredibly thorough (shingle granules cleaned off, stray nails removed, etc). It was so refreshing to have such a positive experience with a construction project!

They have to come back and finish some work. They still have an open item to fix. Their options to quality and aesthetics are what stand out the most. So quality, workmanship, warranty and aesthetics; making sure that the roof is done not only accurately but also aesthetically. There was some digital flashing that matches the roof that comes up over, as far as the options that they offer. Most importantly was the warranty commitment. Some of the other contracts that I reached out to were only offering a year, Colonial offered a 5 year warranty and labor. So to offer something like that, they are guaranteeing their work. I had multiple contractors come through, so I knew what the range was, as far as price.

There was no charge for the estimate. I have no comparison on the price. I believe it was a fair price. They came out three times for us because our insurance initially denied the claim but said for them to come back in the spring, this was the late fall. To come back in the spring when the weather was warmer. They did again and denied the claim. We appealed, they came back again. Each time they came back, they were very good about it. Of course, never charged us.

The sales person came out and walked me through my options. He was great. He didn't over stay his welcome and followed up with emails and answered all my questions. The items were ordered for one of 4 jobs that I wanted them to complete. They had one of their lead contractors come out to measure the window. He was the same person that completed the install. The day the crew came out on the scheduled date to install my windows. The only major issue I had was the main contractor asked me in the middle of the install, what color the trim on the inside would be for the bay window. I told him white and that it was on my contract. He said okay and ran to home depot to buy paint. He had two of his crew paint our window trim and the inside seat of the window. They painted as if it was their 1st day on the job and they had never painted before. Instead of throwing down drop clothes or plastic to ensure my hardwood didn't have paint marks, they put down cut up card board pieces from the new bay windows packaging. It did not cover the entire floor. My husband and I spent hours removing the paint from our hardwood floors. We contacted the front office and told them about our issue with the paint. They sent out another person to take a look at our complaint and agreed to have the paint job redone. After two more visits and coordination with another contractor the paint job was completed correctly. However, I was extremely annoyed to be asked again, what paint color and brand they used for our window. I told them, "how should I know? it's it on the contract or in or file". Either way, the new contractor did a fantastic job matching the paint color. Even though they rectified the issue I would not use them again. I was quoted for 3 more large jobs but this 1st job was a test to see if they lived up to their A rating. I think it is unprofessional for a company to have to come back to finish the job they were paid to complete a 2nd time because it was completed incorrectly the 1st time around. I also don't like that they have multiple different 1099 contracting crews that complete their projects. It was overall an okay experience.

These guys are worse than Jehovah's witnesses. They started by sending me glossy pamphlets in the mail every day which has to increase their overhead which they no doubt pass on to the consumer. Then they had "sales reps" going door to door, knocking on my door every other day with the usual "we're working on other houses on your street" pitch to which I replied not interested. When I told the last one I wasn't interested and that I had already hired another contractor he started arguing with me, asking if I had a signed contract. I finally got ****** off and slammed the door on him. Apparently, "not interested" to them means let's keep browbeating them until they give in and hire us.

i asked Colonial to assess whether my 1940's cedar siding house possibly needed new siding. Michael Shannon, the company representative who came to my house, was outstanding. He told me honestly that my siding was in good shape and that all I really needed was a good paint job. Even knowing that we were not going to use Colonial, he spent alot of time patiently answering my questions and giving me great advice and referrals for the jobs we needed to have done. He is obviously very knowledgeable, experienced, and smart, along with being a personable and nice guy. If I needed a larger job done, i would have no hesitation in going with this company.

The work done was beyond excellent. We worked with Charles who guided us on choosing the right siding and roofing options, as well as managing every aspect of the work with exceptional craftsmanship and punctuality. He also went above and beyond in helping us through the details of the insurance process. Overall, our house now looks practically brand new on the outside, and has even gotten unsolicited offers from realtors since the work had been complete! We can't say enough about how wonderful it was to work with Charles and his team, and would unconditionally recommend Colonial Remodeling to anyone.
Description of Work: Our aluminum siding and shingled roof had experienced hail damage, and working through our insurance company, we needed both replaced. Colonial Remodeling was there to help through the process, in addition to completing all the work.
Overall the job was nicely done, but there were some issues I needed to bring to the contractors attention throughout the process of all the work, as numerous sub-contractors were on the job throughout all the work being completed. These items were corrected to my satisfaction
Description of Work: Ken from Colonial was great as he was able to get my hail damage approved through my insurance carrier. My roof, siding and gutters were replaced. We added windows/doors at our cost which was reasonably priced.
