They did very good.

These guys were great.  The only hitch was that they showed up and realized that they didn' have enough tack strips, so they had to run to Home Depot and pick up some more.  The delay was very minimal, and we had already set the afternoon aside for the project.  It probably took the guys 20 minutes once they came back with the strips.  We are very happy with their work, and they charged us the minimum for the project.  I was actually expecting they would charge a lot more, or that we would have a lot of trouble finding someone to do a job this small, but they came right out and cheerfully cut 16 feet and another 8 feet and left us to the rest of our afternoon.  If we need a carpet repair service again, we will be delighted to call Clawes (no matter how big or small).

I am pleased with my new carpet.  The guys were skilled and did a great job.... no complaints there at all!  My only concern was I started this home improvement project in early May since I was moving into the townhouse in late June and knew I had a small window before the movers arrived with my furniture. It started off well enough with someone visiting the home to estimate, but then loss of contact and follow-up calls ...delayed my vision of new carpet before movers.  Once I arrived in VA area, I worked with someone new, but we had to start the process of estimating, etc. over again.  However, once we got the 2nd estimate and process going, the job was completed as quickly as possible and to my complete satisfaction.  I intend to call them again to finish my carpet installation project in the future.

Couldn't have gone better.  Tile subcontractor was meticulous in his work; as were the Clawes staff who installed the wood floors and carpet. Work was done and completed as scheduled. Everyone from the job "coster" to the installers were very friendly and professional. Only thing we would have done differently would be to deal directly with a company that specializes in tile.  Clawes did not have samples on hand.  We looked at several places before finding Shaw tile samples, then Clawes ordered samples of the "finalists" we found online. (We were limited to SHAWS brand flooring because of the Costco deal we were working from.)  As said above, the tile work was subcontracted by Clawes.

I read the reviews of Clawes Carpets and went to their Braddock Road location. I was immediately greeted by the owner of the store. When I told him I was looking for "really cheap" carpet to temporarily carpet my basement. To my delight, he didn't try to talk me into something more expensive. He immediately showed me the cheapest carpet they had. I was also looking to replace carpet in a bedroom and wanted something nicer. He showed me several different carpets explaining advantages and disadvantages of each. I settled on a mid-range carpet.  They gave me several color samples to take with me and was able to set up the estimate the following day. The estimator was right on time and very professional. The very next day, Clawes called back with the write up. I could have scheduled the installation about three weeks out but opted to do it later due to my schedule. The installation team showed up right on time and worked quickly and efficiently. They did a beautiful job! I received friendly, amazing customer service in all my dealings with them and am very satisfied with the product and installation. The next time I need carpet for my house, I will definitely use Clawes. I highly recommend them. 

The company brought in an experienced crew that did a large job in two days.  The price and the workmanship were outstanding.

Installers arrived promptly 1st thing in the morning. Installation was done quickly & finished ahead of schedule. Installers were were very professional & did a great job!

They arrived on time, ripped up all the old carpet and installed the new carpet.  My husband already had the furniture and everything cleared out of the room so it was easier for them to get in and out quickly.
The new carpet looks great! It's super tight and plush. They were very nice to work with.

I got them from Angie's List.  We contacted a couple of companies to put in a replacement vinyl kitchen floor.  The job was perfect.  All the people were professional and they did exactly what they said.  They gave us all the information we wanted.  As I said everything went exactly as what I was expecting from a really good company.  They did really well.  They were at the lower end of the estimate so it was a good price.  They were right on time.

Overall, I'm very pleased with my experience.  The salesman within the store was very helpful in showing me samples of what i was looking for, choosing the brand, quality, and feel of my carpet and padding.  I elected to upgrade to the 9 inch padding rather than the standard pad.
The crew that came to install the carpet did a phenomenal job.  They were friendly, hard working, and cleaned up any mess.  The foreman was the BEST!  He answered questions, worked just as hard as his fellows, and agreed to perform an extra task that took him an additinal 30 minutes.  He was happy and cheerful to help make my new home look perfect.
I would highly recommend!
My one minor (VERY minor) complaint is:  (I had not yet moved in to my new home yet)  When I came back the next day I found the wall on the first floor COVERED with common flies (20-30).  Now we did have the door open for a time to let the workers in and out, but there's no way that many insects came in that way.  My only thought is whereever the warehouse is that the carpet was stored had them hidden somewhere.
I took a broom and swooshed most of them out.  I hope those that read this review do not focus on this issue as everything else was great and my new carpet looks BEAUTIFUL!  I felt I needed to provide full disclosure in my review.
In conclusion, I would definitely use Clawes Carpeting again.

They were very friendly in the office.  I was very satisfied with them, they did a great job.

I worked with Roy Clawes from the beginning. Roy is a nice, personable guy and I liked working with him. I had evaluated Clawes Carpets against four other estimates.
- Roy provided an estimate for both wood and carpet. I ultimately awarded the wood flooring to another contractor due to cost but Clawes had the best price and carpet.
- One positive about working with Roy was that he was ALWAYS available by cell and, if he missed you, would call back within an hour. He has a great customer service focus.
- Scope of work was carpet the basement and bedrooms adding carpet on the stairs.
- Install guys were prompt and professional. They did make one mistake with the stairway carpet installation and Roy had them come back and do a rip and replace.
- Once the installation was complete, I asked Roy to create some runners for the hard wood floors which, although took a little more time than expected, but look good.
- One negative was a misunderstanding around the overall pricing which was presented at signing as higher. He allowed me to put down less than the asking %.
Very happy with the outcome and would recommend.

Tim (showroom salesman) was really helpful in consulting with us about what type of carpet would be best for our setup and aesthetic preferences.  He also gave us a bunch of very good sized samples to take home with us (even helped us carry them out to the car). 
We had a very tight turnaround time as I was trying to get the carpet installed before a herd of houseguests arrived.  Tim worked with us to find a mutually convenient time for the estimator to come out that week.  The estimator arrived on time and was extremely thorough - he spent almost an hour at the house drawing all the measurements to scale.  Tim called later that evening with the price of the job, answered all of my questions, and most importantly, was able to schedule the installation within two weeks (before our visitors were scheduled to arrive). 
I didn't bother with additional estimates since Clawes came so highly recommended on Angie's List so I'm not sure how competitive the pricing was but it seemed reasonable.  (We went with Shaw Merino Caress Collection.)  Also, they provided a discount for my Angie's List reference, and they honored an additional discount code I found online for Shaw. 
On the day of the scheduled installation, the three-man crew arrived within the time window Tim had promised.  Within about 6 hours they were able to remove the old carpet and replace it with new carpet on two full floors and two staircases of our townhouse.  They were efficient, courteous and surprisingly quiet (I was able to work from home the entire day).  They cleaned everything up very thoroughly when they were finished, leaving no trace even the front sidewalk and parking lot. 
I did not receive a follow-up call after the job was completed, but I suppose that's a sign of their confidence in their work.
Overall, I was very pleased with the experience and would happily use them again on future projects.

Excellent experience.  Roy Clawes came to our home, measured the rooms and we had an estimate in writing that same week.  We scheduled the installation and all was complete the expected day.  The installation was excellent and we've had no issues with the carpet.  We would definitely use Clawes Carpet in the future and highly recommend them.

Both experiences were very satisfying.  The crew was pleasant and very fast, but also careful.  Heavy furniture needed to be moved, and all was returned to the correct positions.  It was one of the neatest job sites I have every seen, and when they left, there was nothing left to indicate that work had been done...except for great looking floors.  
When there were a couple of bubbles in the grout in the kitchen, they immediately returned and fixed the problem.  
We will be replacing more flooring in the next few months, and Clawes will definitely be the ones doing it!

The salesman Mike Dollar was very helpful and took his time to answer all questions and came to my house for a late appt and did not rush through. He tried to provide the best solution based on my criterias. I was working with a very short time frame and they were able to accommodate my schedule but I was prepared to order stock items. I shopped around and Clawes seemed to have a very fair price. The previous owners had cats that would mark and the first floor had a horrible smell. Clawes was the only service I talked to that offered to seal the floor with Kilz....it was a load off my mind not to have to do it myself. The crew showed up on time and was very professional. The supervisor took time to answer all my questions. I would definitely recommend them.

Nice job!  The techs had to move multiple pieces of furniture (sectional couch and multiple (emptied) bookshelves and a computer desk in the living room and 2 beds and 2 dressers in the spare bedroom).  They stretched the loose carpet, removing the excess, and retacked it.  They put the furniture back exactly where it was at the beginning of the job.  They then walked me around to show me the results.  Very professional--on time, completed in less than 2 hours--very careful with the furniture.  Thanks!

They were attentive in the showroom. They were knowledgeable in the showroom. The guy that came out to measure was very detailed, accurate and polite. He came on time. Use them with confidence.

Competitor's Note: We've been looking for 12-18 months to have this done and nearly pulled the trigger 2-3 times with a bamboo we fell in love with at Lumber Liquidators but nagging concerns about bamboo and the multitude of online complaints about the bamboo/company just didn't set well with me.  I wanted a higher level of confidence before putting down this amount of cash into our house.  After receiving quotes from 5 or 6 companies during this time, I'm convinced the primary difference is the (sometimes hidden) cost of labor - all these guys buy from the same set of manufacturers.   This brought the differentiating decision down to who would potentially provide the best quality and stand by their work.  Decision to go with Clawes based on superior reviews here on Angie's List and local recommendation - can't go wrong with a local company that has survived nearly 3 decades!
Clawes Experience: Staff at store was knowledgeable and patient - they let me take home a couple of large samples.  Received an in-home quote from friendly member of the Clawes family, low-pressure, no-rush approach was appreciative.  He answered my questions in a way that my wife and I could understand without sounding like he was reading from a script.  Pricing was not the lowest, but competitive and I was looking to ensure quality.  Wood was delivered on time, 3 days prior and neatly stacked in two rooms to spread the weight.  Installers arrived on time and were friendly and approachable.  They worked diligently and were responsive to requests.  Someone from my family was present most of the time in the house (just in case) but not always, the unsettling fear of letting a group of strangers into your house a bit unnecessary.  Cleanup was excellent, nary a water bottle or fast food wrapper left behind.  Quality of wood and work was excellent, very impressed - wish we had done it sooner!  Although I'm positive I could have had it done if needed, NO follow-up work was required.  Score!
Tip for potential buyers: Be sure to set aside extra time 2-3 days prior to pick up everything you can move and put into rooms/floors that will not be impacted.  Its a lot of work, but you'd rather have the workers spend time doing what they're good at instead of doing your dirty work.  The reward is a much less-cluttered, finished area - we felt like we were moving into a new home! (now to have a yard sale and sell all our junk!)

Clawes completed several projects for us over the course of two months.  In every instance, they were extraordinarily responsive in providing estimates, scheduling the work and following up on any concerns or corrections needed.  They were always very professional and knowledgeable in helping us to decide on the various options for both the carpet and ceramic tile.  In every instance we requested and were provided several samples of the carpets and tile to take home for several days.  They stood behind the work and vowed to do everything possible to ensure that we were 100% satisifed.  We highly recommend them.

They did a great job.  The floor looks great.  I was very pleased with the result.

I have to tell you that this company moved mountains to get the carpet installed prior to my mother in law returning from the hospital. Everyone was so very nice, from the sales people to the owners to the scheduler to the installers. The entire staff was very professional, caring, and competent. The product they installed is perfect! The reason I gave a good instead of an excellent for responsiveness is that they are quite busy. I had to call a few times to get the quote. Now, I was under a time crunch so their response time was probably perfectly acceptable but in our situation we needed it that evening or the next day to get the process moving since it does take time to schedule and decide on product. In the end, it all worked out. Like I said, they moved mountains to get the carpet in for us and we would definitely use them again!

the two man crew arrived in the morning  (Pablo and Carlos)  and worked very well to complete the task of installing  the carpet in the hallway,  they cut the pattern outdoors, had to remove several closet doors, but fortunately were able to reinstall the doors after fitting the hallway carpet
in one bedroom they installed a bound carpet and fitted it nicely, had first removed the bed, and replaced the bed and mattresses.
they worked continuously and were competent at their work, nice people to deal with.
I will use Clawes Carpets in the future for other projects and was very satisfied with the good results which they accomplished.

.It was 4 years ago. We plan to hire them again soon. They stretched my carpet. It was really nice of them to do that.  They are prompt. They did what they said they would do. They were reasonably price.  The previous company had left lumps in the carpet. So, I contacted Clawes and they fixed it. The owner came out and addressed my concerns.
