I had a major remodeling project done to replace aged flooring.  I removed and replaced the carpet/hardwood flooring on the main level with new hardwood and ceramic tile and replaced the carpet in two bedrooms and hallway on the upper level with new hardwood and carpet.  I found Clawes to be an excellent company to work with and was most pleased with their work.  The were very helpful, responsive, and provided sound advice in accomplishing our flooring project.  In addition, they sell quality flooring products.  They used their own employees for installing the hardwood and carpet and a subcontractor for installing the tile flooring and all work was excellent.  I also used Clawes to replace carpet in the rec room of a rental property.  One of the owners, Bobby Clawes, kept involved in both projects and was readily accessible when I had questions or needed advice.  He also inspected the work several times to ensure that it was done properly and met my requirements.  I would certainly use Clawes again.

Wonderful experience. I will definitely contact them in the future if we do more work on our home. They were professional, gave a reasonable estimate, and delivered excellent products on time. The entire experience could not have gone better.

I visited the store a few times as I am very deliberate with my selection process.  The staff in the store was very helpful and very accommodating with allowing me to take how samples and the palette boards.  Once I made the selection, I signed the contract and the total was $3200. I did not have a good experience with the install.  The installers were prompt.  There were three total.  Just 3 days before the install, I had all the walls and trim painted.  The first mishap was one of the workers put a register from the floor on my newly painted window sill.  It wouldn't have been a problem except that he didn't gently place it.  The second was the way the other installer treated my new hardwood floors installed last year.  When he wasn't using his tools he's TOSS then on the hardwood.  I had to speak to him about this and put a flattened hardwood box down beside him to lay his tools. On both occasions, the lead installer talked to his helpers but the irritation had already occurred. Next, the installers laid my carpet out on the street to cut it.  AFTER I said something, they got a pad and put underneath the new carpet.  The final straw was when they got my old carpet and laid on top of my new carpet to use as template.  I ran outside and snapped pictures and told them to get the old carpet off of the new.  I had cats for 15 years and these old carpets were disgusting.  The installer said they needed to do this to get the cut right and said that they could either use my old carpet as template or mark up my walls trying to cut it to fit while in the house.  I was highly displeased and called Clawes.  Tim took down my complaint and said he'd call me back after talking to the installer but did not.  The team finished the install and left.  Tim never called me back.  The next day, I was called by Clawes to pay the invoice and complained about what happened.  Tim called back and said that it was normal to lay carpet in the street to cut if it was a smaller place like a townhouse.  I'm sorry - I can't believe that it's typical for carpet installers to lay down carpet on fine sand and gravel that covers the street.  I was really disappointed by Clawes lack of concern for the poor professionalism of the install.  I felt like their apologies were lip service.  About a week later, Clawes finally took $400 off the install.  I was so disappointed with the whole process.  I have to still get new flooring for my 3rd guest bedroom and basement and I will absolutely not use Clawes again.

We had a 28" carpet runner (a natural carpet) serged and installed on our staircase of 13 stairs.  We found the staff helpful and easy to work with, but they do seem to be very busy.  We had to call for an update after placing the order to check on the status as we hadn't heard anything for a several weeks and we're expecting the carpet to arrive sooner than that.  We also had to call a few times to check on a follow-up project (described below), as it took longer than expected.  They were always friendly and helpful when we called, but an update from them periodically would have been appreciated.
The gentleman who did the installation (I believe his name was James) was excellent.  He was very detailed and took the time necessary to ensure everything lined up properly and allowed for enough time drying time between seams.  He also made a rug for us out of some of a carpet remnant for the entrance way to the staircase at no additional expense to us.  We were left with another fairly large remnant once the project was finished, so we called about having that remnant serged to have a second rug, and they offered a reasonable charge to do that.  When we dropped the remnant off, however, they told us they would do it for no additional charge, which was very nice.  They were running quite a backlog, and maybe that was why.  It took another 2+ months for the rug to be ready, but we knew there would be some delay and weren't being charged, so that was alright.  All in all, we are very happy with the results.

The quality was first rate, they were on time and friendly.  We were surprised a bit that they charged out credit card for the service 2 weeks in advance of performing the service.  But we ultimately were satisfied with their work.

All contact with the employees of Clawes Carpets has been pleasant, professional, and efficient. After a free estimate, the gentleman who came and did the work at my home was very nice, and he worked carefully and skillfully to complete the job. I would definitely choose this company for future projects at my home.

I have no complaints on the work.  It was expensive but they did a great job.  My only concern was that they took down the plastic curtain after the first coat of polyurethane was put down and before that coat was dry.  With the curtain down, the tenant's dog ran up the stairs to the bedrooms, leaving a trail of prints.  Mr. Clawes said the installer would remove the dog's prints. The dog prints are still there.  Apparently the installer told Mr. Clawes that he had removed the dog prints and that the dog must have run up there a second time.  That did not happen. The dog prints are covered with new, smooth layers of polyurethane, so apparently they were not buffed out sufficiently before the new layers went on.  Nonetheless, I plan to ask Clawes to refinish the first-level floor before I sell the house and I am hoping the prints can be taken care of then.

The tenants claimed that the installer did not show up until late in the mornings, forcing them to stay home from work longer than they had expected, so I gave Clawes a "B" for punctuality.

When the dog prints are removed, I will change the grade on "responsiveness" to "A."

It went great!  At the store, they were very helpful and not pushy at all.  They talked to me about the products that I was interested in and let me know the timeline for ordering and installation so that I could meet my deadline.  They came out for the estimate and installation on time and everyone was very professional.  I chose a carpet that was on sale and in stock and am very happy with the quality.  I would definitely use them again.

We were putting our house up for sale, and needed to put carpeting in the basement, on both stairways, and in the upstairs hallway.  We had gotten a quote from Home Depot that came in around $2,000 for the installation of very basic, builder-quality carpeting.  Since we had used Clawes in the past for other carpeting and for kitchen vinyl flooring, and had been very satisfied, we also got an estimate from them.  Clawes initial estimate for the same basic carpeting was $1,600.  We decided to upgrade to a thicker pile, which raised the price to $2,000.  The installers came out when scheduled, installed the carpeting in about 4 hours, and cleaned up after themselves.  We were very pleased with the results, and would recommend their services to other customers.

The man who measured our space was spot on and we have a weirdly shaped room. His drawing of our footprint was so architecturally beautiful, it could've been hung in the Smithsonian. The staff was very helpful in making our carpet selection - providing the pros and cons of the ones we narrowed down.  They were able to work us in on a Saturday afternoon. It was a wonderful experience and we love the final product. Will definitely use them again as we update our flooring.

The quality of the product was apparent from the moment we walked into the store.  The sales staff were friendly and once we decided to move forward with our purchase they fit us into their calendar so we could have our new carpet ahead of company we planned to host 2 weeks later.  We were pleased with all aspects of the work and would definitely work with them again in the future.

The work was performed on two separate days as the master bedroom carpeting was put in later in the month at our request. The people at Clawes were fantastic to work with.  They will be as helpful as you need in picking out colors and recommending the best type of carpets for each particular room.  We were matching some existing Bruce hardwood flooring, which had been done a few years back and had no trouble finding it.  Scheduling was very easy and, because they have several crews, they will make sure the crew with the right type of experience works your job.  The pricing was very reasonable for the amount of work done and they cleaned up perfectly when they were done.  The crews could not have been nicer guys and work incredibly hard to get things right. They are very skilled at what they were doing and, at an earlier pre-look visit, the crew chief had some helpful ideas about dealing with some banister flanges on the floor.  They also had to tear up some old peel and stick parquet wood flooring I had put down myself some 15 years ago.  Yes, you pay a little extra for them to remove the old wood, but it has to come up to lay new wood down. For carpeting, you can get away with putting it over the old wood. Just be sure there is enough room, given how far this will raise the floor, for the doors to close or you may, as we did, have to shave the bottom of the doors.  Generally, if you remove what's there first, the doors are not an issue.  This was thick, but very comfortable carpeting and they use a quality thick padding, so it will raise the floor level a bit if you're putting it over wood.  (call that a lesson learned).
As with all such large jobs, there are always little things that need attention after the fact and Clawes was very good at taking care of them. We made a short list, all fairly minor items, and they went through and addressed each one to our satisfaction.
This is a family owned business and they have been around for more than 37 years, so we saw several second and third generation family members who work out of the store. So, you get to support a local small business that takes great pride in the work they do.  I would recommend Clawes, and have already, to anyone looking to do indoor flooring work, carpets or wood flooring.  We have two more bathrooms, for which we need to do something else first, but we will have Clawes back to do them.  About a year or two ago, we used another business to put in linoleum in the kitchen and carpeting in the other small bedroom.  The carpeting is fine, but we've never been happy with the kitchen linoleum, even after they came back and reworked it.  The glue just won't stop it from coming up, giving it that sticky sound in several places.  Wished we had thought to use Clawes as they would have used a better material and would have been less expensive, as well.
Bottom line, use these guys.  You won't be disappointed.

From start to finish, a wonderful experience! The staff is professional, knowledgable, attentive and responsive. They really listened to what we wanted and did not try to push what they believe we wanted. The staff was proactive and contacted us during each step in the process. We had no issues since they were on top of everything. We will absolutely return to Clawes for all of our flooring needs.

Except for the antiquated paper system that Clawes employs, they were prompt in most aspects of the job.  The installation was fast and there wasn't a bunch of waste left around to cleanup.
