Last year, we needed to replace our 60 year old concrete driveway, and got a few quotes from different companies. Bright (Steve in particular) provided a great, detailed quote, and was very knowledgeable and responsive to our questions, so we went with Bright. We are glad we did. The driveway turned out great. This year, we needed to replace a flagstone walkway and patio, and went with Bright again. Bright's construction team was meticulous, courteous, and responsive to our questions and requests. It was clear from watching Bright's masons work that they took pride in their craftsmanship. The patio and walkway look great.

Job was done professionally and price was very competitive. We are very happy with the project.

Bright was our choice to do work for us because we liked the thorough and high quality work they proposed and their ratings. Also, the Estimator was on time for appointments and professional. However, we started to have concerns about our choice because the estimater was hard to reach otherwise and generally not in the office when we had questions. In addition, some costs that had been quoted on the proposal changed multiple times each time we had questions about what was going to be done, or asked about additional options. We asked about the cost changes and received explanations but the responses were different each time, which raised additional concern. Finally the company lost credibility when we asked about the Angie List members 5% discount that’s advertised, and we were told that we could receive the discount after we wrote a positive review on the site. If that’s the case and the company’s policy, how many of the reviews here are 100% honest?

Bright Construction Group did a fabulous job. They cemented our driveway plus our sidewalk to the house. The project took 3 days. The men came in a timely manner each day. The first day they dug up the current paved driveway. They also dug up the current sidewalk to the house. The 2nd day, the cement truck came an cemented the driveway & the sidewalk to the house. The 3rd day they came & did a little masonry work in the back of the driveway to connect the driveway to the sidewalk in the backyard. Luis and Stephen were very professional and considerate. Their willingness to address our concerns was exceptional, even made 2 extra trips to talk with us.

They came, they saw, the conquered… all the challenges of designing and construction an amazing flagstone walkway and descending 48-inch-wide steps with 70 feet of natural stone veneer retaining walls. This is my second experience with Bright and their incredibly talented team of masons led by Rui Valenta. When I asked for an estimate I indicated I would only accept their work if Rui let the effort. This was a complicated job. I had a half dozen other firms attempt to design it. The 4-foot elevation difference spanning two directions made this exceedingly difficult to design, considering drainage, elevation change and blending with the existing stone on the house. When issues arose surrounding availability of the originally selected stone, Stephen, the sales manager, met me at the “stone store” to help select alternative stone. Two different stones were used. They not only had to be complimentary with each other, but also need to compliment existing stone on the face of our home. Not an easy task. This was all done quickly and efficiently. I wasn’t left to figure this out alone, as Rui and Stephen were THE integral part of the process. And did it willingly. I watched this 8-day project from start to finish and was amazed how complex stone masonry can be. A crew of 5-7 masons worked long hours selecting just the right stone for each place, chipping it to a beautiful mosaic shape. The result was a stunning addition to our home. This crew arrived everyday, even Saturday and Labor Day just before 7AM. Some days to worked to 8 PM. They were clean, cheerful, disciplined and worked together as a team. And they were happy doing it. I had the feeling that each of these masons looked at my project as if they were constructing it at their home. I could not think of a single thing I thought they mishandled…. or did less than in an exceptional manner--Nothing. Even before the long weekend, they cleaned up a lot of stone debris in the driveway making it appear as if they were never there, and even though they were coming back. Incredible. I said it 5 years ago when they completed a similarly complex project for me- I would not ever consider using anyone other than Bright Construction.

The entire job was accomplished in two days. The crew was excellent, friendly, prompt, and left a clean job site.

It was one of my best experiences with any contractors I have used in the past. The owner Rui, the project manager Rui as well as the crew were knowledgeable, friendly and delivered a top quality project. The project manager, Rui provided helpful information and suggestion in the design phase, and supervised the crew to execute the job beautifully. Their pricing was very reasonable as well. I would use them again and highly recommend this company for anyone who needs masonry work done.

They are owned by RUI Dominguez. They really didn't supervise and their workers did not do a good job. When they finished, the brick didn?t match the wall. They also failed with doing a smooth mortar job that chips off and just doesn't stay. I feel they should have offered in the beginning the redo the work to our satisfaction.

Bright did a great job; I got a quote quickly and the rep who visited my home and prepped the quote--Stephen--was very responsive to questions I had about mesh versus rebar reinforcements, tinting for color, and matching the grade of a walkway I was having built and explained why they recommended the elements that were included in the price. This was really important to me because the quote I'd gotten from another vendor was twice as much and included little or no detail and the detail Bright provided helped me feel informed and confident in my decision to go with them. The pouring was delayed by cold weather, but that only shows that Bright is committed to providing a durable, well finished product since the concrete wouldn't cure correctly if was too cold. The new driveway looks fabulous and my neighbors are envious!

Since I rely upon on-line reviews to evaluate service providers, I feel it necessary to write a detailed review of my recent work by Bright Masonry. My house in Arlington needed extensive work to a long flight of flagstone steps and a a retaining wall that had crumbled. I had a number of contractors look at both and the proposals varied wildly from a few thousand dollars to nearly 10 times that amount. I even went so far as to put a deposit down with one of the low cost contractors, only to have them disappear - lesson learned. When I was finally contacted by the County about the wall, I knew I had to get serious, and asked friends for recommendations. One suggested Bright Masonry. I contacted the office, and they sent out a knowledgable sales guy who quickly put a detailed bid together. While it was not the lowest price quoted (I'd already been burned by one of them), it was amongst the most reasonable I got. I thought the work would take a week or more, with me having to take off a lot of time from work to keep an eye on things, but they showed up with a large crew, and knocked the job out in only two days including a Saturday. The crew were professional, efficient, courteous and hard-working - I know, I did that sort of work while in college. They did a great job, solid work, and it looked better than I had imagined - they matched stone and mortar of a nearly 100 year old wall! They even did a great job with clean-up - which is one way to tell if a job is truly done right. Every phase of the job was handled well, and I can not recommend them highly enough! If you want to see their work, drive up Rock spring Road next to the Washington Golf & Country Club and look right halfway up the hill - that's their fine work on my wall. We cannot state how pleased we are with Bright Construction Group and the team, led by project manager Rui Vicente, that performed the work at our home. We originally found Bright on Angie’s List. I called and owner came within a few days to give us an estimate. He spent a longer amount of time taking pictures, measurements and speaking to me about different options, concrete and layouts that would work best for us. Although not the least expensive, the estimate was detailed and specific, which ultimately made us choose Bright to complete the work. After the estimate, the process in giving our down payment and scheduling was a breeze. We were scheduled a few weeks later and on the first day of work the team arrived on time. We spoke in length to Rui as he went over the specifics of our driveway, walkway and new landing. He gave informative suggestions, but was not pushy about it and left the final choice up to us. We ultimately went with his design idea. We relied on his professional opinion and couldn’t be happier. Excavation happened the first day and second day. The third day they outlined everything and once we gave our final approval, they laid the gravel/rocks. Unfortunately, they were calling for rain that afternoon and Rui made the executive decision to cancel the concrete that day. He verbally told me the new date and we were happy with his judgement call and decision. To my surprise, he also sent an email apologizing and confirming the new date (which I thought was a great added communication). On the new date, they arrived on time and the concrete was poured. They did the sweeping, lines and also the landscaping (grass seed and straw needed to be laid) that day as well. They also came back the next day and did some detailing that was not done the day before. I still need to make our final payment, which I assume will be just as seamless as all of our other interactions with Bright, the crew that performed the work and the office staff. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to have concrete work done, and especially Rui, our project manager, and his amazing team. Thanks again, Bright.

Work went smoothly. They came early in the morning and was able to get the work done in 1 day. The work was done last Friday so we have not started using the driveway, and that's why I put down "N/A" in the quality review and will update later on. The new driveway looks great. So far so good

Overall quality of work and flexibility of Bright Construction was excellent. Rui provided an estimate in a timely manner and was responsive to requests for clarifications and additional work that was added to the initial estimate. We had some problems with the weather and permits from the County that delayed the work a couple of times but Mike kept me up to date and always returned my calls and emails. The architect they originally hired I would never use again and recommend against as very difficult to work with and not accommodating any changes or alterations but Bright recovered well by using internal staff to modify the plans to meet the County requirements. The actual work itself was top notch. They excavated the basement down to 9+ft and then in sections underpinned the existing house foundation creating a new concrete foundation wall from the inside preserving my deck and the exterior perimeter of the house. Additionally, they created an exterior entrance and stairwell to the new basement area. The quality of the block work, the finish work on the concrete both the basement and garage was excellent. Bright installed an exterior drain system into a French drain and sump in the basement and an exterior drain around the perimeter of the garage. They also did a great job trying to preserve a neighbor's tree and the fence that was only 3 ft from the garage excavation and build. Along the way they made a number of helpful suggestions that didn't add cost but were items I hadn't considered and improved the overall function and aesthetics of the finished project. Finally, they did a nice job cleaning up and restoring the site when they were done. I would use them again in an instant.

Top notch company to contract with. Absolute superior service and were very easy to deal with. Many questions answered on site and same crew came two and one half days. Pooling water on old driveway corrected by running 4" drain pipe from down spout on house under driveway out into large backyard. Pipe maybe 50 feet in length. Maybe five or six men showed up early and left late. This job was preformed at the end of June 2016 and this feedback is late. d If you need a new driveway, look no further than this company.

I got bids from three vendors found via Angies List. Bright was not the lowest bidder but their proposal was more detailed than the others and I assumed (correctly as it turns out) that this attention to detail would be reflected in the work they did. Coordination was done almost entirely via email along with some onsite visits. Work was done on time and within budget and they handled a last minute modification to the project with ease. Stones on the rear steps had been loose for years having been installed by a landscaping company rather than a masonry company like Bright. Bright tore them down and rebuilt them using the correct materials and the difference is noticeable and I have no doubt the stones will be in place for many years to come. Bright was able to very closely match my existing porous pavers for the driveway. I had an area than we were unsuccessful getting much to grow in and when we added an additional car to the family it made more sense to make the driveway wider, thus solving the landscaping problem at the same time. Now we can park both cars in the driveway and not have to back out or juggle who goes out first. The only slight issue we had was in trying to use a line of credit check and a credit card for payment but in both cases the company was reasonable and we came to an agreement.

With quite a few "A" reviews on Angie's List, I thought I would give these guys a shot. They had a fairly solid chance of getting my business, but after a few emails exchanged, I'm glad I didn't continue to debate why customers price shop, don't ask for details on materials, etc. Ultimately, a previous estimate was quite thorough on documentation, specifically the following: Contact Miss Utility for marking of underground utilities, etc. Other proposal: Existing concrete slab has been compromise; Replace existing concrete driveway 19x13 SQ.F driveway, Remove debris from site prior to start work begin; Use concrete saw to separate existing concrete driveway to minimize stress during the demolition between existing driveway and garage. Remove existing concrete driveway materials. Use hydraulic breaker to break concrete driveway. New driveway will has a new elevation to slope water away from the house. Any area will accommodate new frame and new drain system around the concrete if need it. 6 inch of the grass will be disturb for the frame of the driveway. Dig to 8” depth for new material for driveway. Compact soil before installation of gravel base; Install and compact a 3” gravel base of #57 stone; Frame area as existing size of driveway connect to concrete.; New concrete driveway will adjust any elevation to slop water away from the house. Reinforce concrete with #4 rebar , wire mesh; Rebar will lay every 4“ inch apart. Tie new concrete driveway with garage, using rebar #4; Install concrete pier on the concrete for extra support on the slab. Pour concrete to 5 inch depth (approximately 247sq. ft.); Concrete specification to be 4000 PSI; Finish concrete (broom finish acceptable); Create control joint every 8 or 10 ft. for driveway. Install expansion joint and material where new concrete meet existing concrete carport and apron. New concrete driveway will level with a existing apron concrete carport. Remove and dispose of all debris and construction material from job site. Five year warranties for any structural crack (no walking on concrete for 24 hours, no parking on driveway for 7 days) don’t apply salt on top the new concrete over the winter season. Work to commence after [date], 2016, weather permitting; Work to be completed within 2 days once started, weather permitting THAT'S A PROPOSAL. Here's what I got from Mr. James Manion at Bright, after sending pictures, discussing on the phone and exchanging a couple of prior emails: Manion: "I would budget about $4,200.00" Me: "That's 700 more than another estimate. Thanks for the proposal, but will forego." Manion: "We have so many people price shopping us. The ones that go for the cheapest price end up regretting it because of future problems. You never asked me the strength of the concrete, the mix, nor the amount of steel we install to make a driveway last significantly stronger than others. If your looking for cheap, you'll find it." Me: "Ok, please do propose/justify. I didn't see an itemized/justified proposal, just a number." Obviously, I received no response - that certainly killed credibility. Another contractor was transparent and thorough - why not Bright? Why is it that contractors seem to think consumers are unintelligent, or completely disconnected with the work? Perhaps some are, but shouldn't you educate? I asked for a proposal/estimate, and didn't receive one. While the price was higher, it was not accompanied with any additional material to support such a figure. With four degrees, two in engineering, this consumer was not unfamiliar, or unintelligent. My recommendation for Bright, Mr. Manion and others like them is to not assume, and to provide a thorough proposal and be courteous. Making money (and building and maintaining a reputation) as a business requires one to do so every time an interested consumer comes asking for a proposal. It's unfortunate they didn't want the work.

The company was highly rated on Angie's List, so I decided to contact them to get an estimate on repair/replace my driveway. I used the online scheduling tool to schedule an estimate. I made my initial request over a week before my desired date. I received a prompt response asking me to provide additional contact information. I thought I correctly completed the form for the additional request and waited for confirmation of my appointment. When I didn't receive confirmation, I called only to find out it would be a delay of an additional couple of weeks before they could provide an estimate. They did offer to use a Google map picture to complete the estimate. I agreed and waited for the return call. When a different person returned my call, he began asking detailed questions about the project. Apparently I provided too much information with my initial response and the estimator informed me this would go faster if I limited my answers to the specific question asked. Throughout, the response and tone of the three employees I encountered was unprofessional. It felt like they never intended to actually send an estimator to my house. In my last, admittedly short, conversation, it seemed the employee was trying to fill out a computer form so he could provide me an estimate. Not what I expected given the reviews. Now I'm delayed another week looking for another company to give me an estimate.

Scheduled an estimate for 12pm on 5/27. At 1pm I called the office to see why the estimator did not show up. The person at the office told me that we were on the schedule for between 12 pm and 1pm. She said that the estimator must be running late and that she would call the estimator to see what was going on and then call me back. She assured me that he was on the way. At 2:15 another person from the office called to explain that there was a “scheduling problem” and the estimator was double booked and was not coming out. Clearly there was no chance that anyone was ever going to show up and nobody at the office, or the estimator, bothered to let us know until several hours after the appointment time.

They showed up on time. Quickly cleared out the old sidewalk and dug out the new extension. They had a question about how I wanted to handle one section. The crew got everything dugout and ready to pour the concrete. I was told the concrete would be poured around four o'clock that same day. They showed up at 3:50 and the concrete was poured. They finished the concrete beautifully and then filled in around it and cleaned up after themselves after marking it off with caution tape so no one would walk on it until it cured. I couldn't be happier with the work they did. Wonderful crew, very polite, very professional.

It looks very nice. They were able to do the work for under $3,000. It was reasonably priced. I by mistake paid them an extra $855 and they promptly refunded it which was appreciated.
